  • Tracking Viewing Habits of Website Visitors

    Hello everyone! First time using this service for a question. I hope I am not asking something that has already been answered. I attempted to find an answer to my question with the search engine but i was unable to. My question is as follows: Using php, javascript, or anything actually, is it possible for me to track how my users are viewing the pages on my blog/website? Specifically, I want to track the time the user's browser spends reading specific sections of my content on the same page. For example, it would answer questions such as: How much time did someone spend reading the introduction to my article vs the conclusion? (located on the same page) Basically, tracking the "eyes" of a web visitor by looking at where the browser is currently scrolled down the page too. I'm sorry if i'm a bit noob! Thanks for any help with my problem you can provide to me! ^_^

    Hi, I am trying to find answer for the following ,for the past couple of days ,but couldnt find comprehensive answer Problem Statement I have a custom JSP tag class which handles a web form submission ,captures data and write it to same file in the filesystem. As all web applications,this can be triggeredsimultaneosly ,and i fear that multiple threads would be in action handling each of the submission (we all know thats how Servlet works.)     I just started playing with metaprogramming and I am working on different tasks just to explore the domain. One of these was to generate a unique integer and map it to type, like below: int myInt = TypeInt<AClass>::value; I want to know if this is at all possible, and in that case how. Because although I have learned much about exploring this subject I still have failed to come up with an answer. (P.S. A yes/no answer is much more gratifying than a c++ solution that doesn't use metaprogramming, as this is the domain that I am exploring)

    I use to create an application that uses the windows speech recognition engine or the SAPI. its like a game for pronunciation that it give you score when you pronounce it correctly. but when i started experiments with SAPI, it has poor recognition unless if you load a grammar on it (XML) its give best recognition result. but the problem now is closest pronunciation from the input text will be recognize. for example: Database - dedebase - correct. even if you mispronounce it. it gives you correct answers. without using the xml grammar when you say database it give you "in the base/the base/data base/etc..." please post your answer,suggestion,clarification. votes for best answer. is it possible or not? by the way i use delphi compiler on the projects....

    I have a javascript application and when I run it on firefox I am getting the following erro on the console: "The stylesheet was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html" is not "text/css". DumbStuck!! EDIT: Note that it tells that "The stylesheet ABCD..." But ABCD is actually an HTML file. Edit (ANSWER) : Actually I had wrongly put href="", and hence the html file was refenecing itself as the CSS. Mozilla had the similar bug once, and it is from there I got the answer. But everyone's else answers helped me too. Thanks.

  • MySQL - Finding time overlaps

    Hi, I have 2 tables in the database with the following attributes: Booking ======= booking_id booking_start booking_end resource_booked =============== booking_id resource_id The second table is an associative entity between "Booking" and "Resource" (i.e., 1 booking can contain many resources). Attributes booking_start and booking_end are timestamps with date and time in it. May I know how I might be able to find out for each resource_id (resource_booked) if the date/time overlaps or clashes with other bookings of similar resource_id? I was doodling the answer on paper, pictorially, to see if it might help me visualize how I could solve this and I got this: Joining the 2 tables (Booking, Booked_resource) into one table with the 4 attributes needed. Follow the answer suggested here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/689458/find-overlapping-date-time-rows-within-one-table I did step 1 but step 2 is leaving me baffled! I actually realised that I could answer my question easily by compiling the code, but it's an interesting question nonetheless, so I'll ask the question anyway and answer it myself shortly. Take a look at this snippet: The question considers what happens when we throw from a destructor (which causes terminate() to be called). It's become clear to me by asking the question that the memory is indeed freed and the destructor is called, but, is this before or after throw is called from foo? Perhaps the issue here is that throw is used while the stack is unwinding that is the problem... Actually this is slightly confusing.

(e.g VARCHAR) b) What type of object should I use for storing and manipulating the image (at an object layer)? (e.g java.awt.Image) c) How do I create an object of the type selected (answer of question b) from the data obtained from the database? d) How do I save an object of the type selected (answer of question b) to the database? e) How do I draw the image on a web page?   • [Java] Send cookie with http request problem

    I'm trying to get a certain cookie in a java client by creating a series of Http requests. It looks like I'm getting a valid cookie from the server but when I'm sending out a request to the fnal url with the seemingly valid cookie I should get some lines of xml in the response but the response is blank because the cookie isw rong or is invalidated because a session has closed or an other problem which I can't figure out. The cookie handed out by the server expires at the end of the session. It seems to me the cookie is valid because when I do the same calls in firefox, a similar cookie with the same name and starting with the 3 first same letters and of the same length is stored in firefox, also expiring at the end of the session. If I then make a request to the final url with only this particular cookie stored in firefox (removed all other cookies), the xml is nicely rendered on the page. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong in this piece of code?     I have a card (a flashcard you could say) What I can do: On fingersweeping over the flashcard the card gets turned. Imagine this, you have a flashcard and you think you know the answer, you start flipping the card around because you want to see if you are correct, but then... no stop... you hesitate, turn back the card to the way it was, rethink, get the real answer and then finally flip to see that you were right to hesitate. Now I only have: once you start flipping, you can't stop it.

  • Expression Studio 4 Premium & SketchFlow question; WTH

    Through work I have an Visual Studio Premium with MSDN subscription that I love. However, my biggest disappointment of the last 12 months was discovering that our 2nd from the top level subscription was not enough to get me Sketchflow! This is, most decidedly, NOT SHINY, and I am borderline distraught! What are my options? Upgrading to an Ultimate subscription for Sketchflow is out of the question. Am I forced, then, to stay with Blend 3 or Purchase Blend 4 seperately? If this is not a question I should ask here please inform and I'll delete. I just tend to default to SO for all questions that Google can't answer and Google did not answer this one.

One question I wanted to verify (I think I know the answer, but I can't find verification online) - does the DataType DataAnnotation perform regular expression checks to ensure that you have received a valid e-mail/phone/currency/etc?   • C# ASP.Net The type or namespace name 'iAnywhere' could not be found

    Morning all, I know that this sounds like a simple referencing problem from the title this is becoming a nightmare! I have a code class that uses the "iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient.dll". This Dll is referenced in the project and in the code class I have added this dll in the Using section. Everything seems fine at build with no errors at all but when I go to run the application it comes up with the following Compilation Error: Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'iAnywhere' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) The line that the Error points to this line in the class: using iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient; I have set the dll to copy local and it makes no difference, the Dll is installed on my PC so is in the GAC, I use this Dll with many other C# projects and have no problems. I have scoured Google looking for an answer and haven't found anything that points me to an answer to my problem. Any help would be brilliant!

    I tried to find the answer to this question on Stack Overflow without any success. Let's say I store passwords using SHA-1 hash (so it's 160 bits) and let's assume that SHA-1 is enough for my application. How long should be the salt used to generated password's hash? The only answer I found was that there's no point in making it longer than the hash itself (160 bits in this case) which sounds logical, but should I make it that long? E.g. Ubuntu uses 8-byte salt with SHA-512 (I guess), so would 8 bytes be enough for SHA-1 too or maybe it would be too much?

    I am very new to Python, and trying to figure out how to create an object that has values that are accessible either by attribute name, or by index. For example, the way os.stat() returns a stat_result or pwd.getpwnam() returns a struct_passwd. In trying to figure it out, I've only come across C implementations of the above types. Nothing specifically in Python. What is the Python native way to create this kind of object? I apologize if this has been widely covered already. In searching for an answer, I must be missing some fundamental concept that is excluding me from finding an answer.

  • Send a "304 Not Modified" for images stored in the datastore

    I store user-uploaded images in the Google App Engine datastore as db.Blob, as proposed in the docs. I then serve those images on /images/<id>.jpg. The server always sends a 200 OK response, which means that the browser has to download the same image multiple time (== slower) and that the server has to send the same image multiple times (== more expensive). As most of those images will likely never change, I'd like to be able to send a 304 Not Modified response. I am thinking about calculating some kind of hash of the picture when the user uploads it, and then use this to know if the user already has this image (maybe send the hash as an Etag?) I have found this answer and this answer that explain the logic pretty well, but I have 2 questions: Is it possible to send an Etag in Google App Engine? Has anyone implemented such logic, and/or is there any code snippet available?

    Hi: I've just finished reading up on the CustomValidator control and I have a question. In the book I'm reading, it says that a CustomValidator doesn't need to have it's ControlToValidate property set and it gives a few examples of that usage. But in one example where ControlToValidate isn't used, the OnServerValidate function has a timer (5 seconds) that you need to beat by entering your 'answer' into a textbox. If it takes you longer than 5 seconds, the CustomValidator's error message pops up next to the textbox (it's like a timed question/answer game) . How did the CustomValidator know to place the message next to the textbox (there's no association between the two, that I know of)? I wanted to test this, so I put a couple more textboxes on the page and the error message always showed up next to the last textbox I placed on the page. Thanks.
