CSS navigation submenu and seperator

I have created a navigation bar that is centered with CSS which works. Each li item is separated with a border which is a background image. When hovering on the nav items, the separator disappears because the hover changes the background (I guess) but I wonder how I can fix this, padding or margin can't work because it will just shift the li element. Second problem is that the sub menu items aren't displaying correctly and I have no idea why... Android: how to convert whole ImageView to Bitmap?

I have my application that is displaying images with different ratio, resized inside (centerInside) imageView. What I need is to create bitmap from the ImageView including the background (black in this case). So for example I have device screen 320x480, full screen imageView with image resized to 280x480. How could I get 320x480 bitmap from it? On top of this imageview I have some logos or buttons that I don't want to include to bitmap, they're like on top layer. All I need is bitmap with image and black border from some sides.

WPF DropShadowEffect in ListBox

Hi, Basically, I have a listbox which contains a set of listboxitem (stacked horizontally). On selected listboxitem, there will be dropshadoweffect applied to the border of the listboxitem. The problem i am having at the moment is the dropshadopeffect on the left hand side is covering (on top of) the left listboxitem. This is fine for me, however the dropshadoweffect on the right hand side of the listboxitem is covered by (below) the right listboxitem. Is there a way to make them consistent? so that both sides' dropshadoweffect will appear on top of the left and right listboxitems. Please let me know if you need more information. Any help would be appreciated.

Architecture of finding movable geotagged objects

I currently have a Postgres DB filled with approx. 300.000 data-sets of moving vehicles all over the world. My very frequently repeated query is: Give me all vehicles in a 5/10/20mile radius. Currently I spend around 600 to 1200 ms in the DB to prepare the set of located vehicle-objects. I am looking to vastly improve this time by ideally one or two orders of magnitude if possible. I am working in a Ruby on Rails 3.0beta environment if this is relevant. Any ideas how to architect the whole system to accelerate this query? Any NoSQL database able to deliver this kind of geolocation performance? I know of MongoDB working on an extension to facilitate this scenario but haven't tried it yet. Any intelligent use of Redis to achieve this? One problem with SQL-DBs here seems to be that I can't possibly use indexes because my vehicles are mostly moving around, meaning I had to constantly created DB indexes which, by itself, is probably more expensive than just doing the searching without index. The problem is that I want the names of the countries to be in a column or if you will - the containers for the government types to be the same width so other containers will align. If I don't do it in nested containers (in the example - nested tables) the rows will get displaced. Currently rows are shown exactly how I want them - the text is in the vertical middle of the what they refer to. Only thing that comes up to my mind is to set the text in the same columns as class=column1, class=column2, etc. and then somehow define the width for the column classes. Problem is the data is defined dynamically and I can't say how much pixels or % of the page I can give to a column, I just need it to stretch with the text. This is my first time I ask about help here so if I am doing it wrong, tell me how do improve my inquiry.

DirectX into Bitmap

Hi, I want to develope a graphicintensive application. It should be hardwareaccelerated with DirectX. Also it must looking good, so I use a LayeredWindow for nice shadoweffects. But now I have a big problem, because I cannot draw with DX on a LayeredWindow. So I search for a possibility to render with DX into a bitmap, so I can use it for the layeredwindow. I found a way to get a stream of the rendersurface, but this brings up my processor to 100%, because I must render the layeredwindow up to 75 times per second. Thank you, if you can help me, or you know a better way to draw with DirectX a Window with unregular Border and Shadows.

Rotating an image in all browsers (canvas in IE?)

I finally got to work with canvas only to find out that it is not implemented in IE. I tried explore canvas from google to use it in Internet Explorer, but it's not working for my code (http://uptowar.com/test.php - little bug though that it is not removing the old image when rotating). So, is there an other way to smoothly rotate an image around it's bottom center angle? Maybe javascript? Or is there a way to do it with IE and canvas anyway? Edit: Google Chrome also seems to add an ugly border to the canvas example.. there must be an other smooth way? Edit2: tried a hacky javascript way: it causes mayor lags and corrupts the image (http://uptowar.com/test2.php), anyone knows of a working method?

I could hack something by instantiating a div with class divType1 and grab its css attributes, and then destroy it, but is there a better way?

OpenGL multitexture tessellation

I have to tessellate some surface in OpenGL with rectangular textures. Let it be a single triangle for simplicity. The textures touch each other by sides, and do not overlap. That is done by setting GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_S and GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_T to GL_CLAMP_TO_BORDER and adjusting texture coords properly. Everything goes fine while GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER and GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER is set to GL_NEAREST, but when I want to apply GL_LINEAR filering and/or anisotropic filtering following arifact apperas: textures border pixel's alpha gradually fall to transparent, so that line of background color is visible between neighbouring textures. How can I avoid this artifact without merging multiple textures to one while linear filtering is preserved?

how to create a plot with customized points in R?

I know I can create a plot with line and dots using the type = "o" argument in the plot command. I would like some more control over this -- I want to be able to draw the "o" as full dots, with black border and fill-in color of my choice, of customized size and of a different color than the line. Same for the line, I want to make it thicker, and of my choice of color. How would I go on about doing that? What I found until now is just a plain plot(y, type= "o") which is too poor for my needs. I am not interested in using ggplot, but instead use the internal plot library of R. Any help appreciated.

CSS backgroung color is differnt in IE vs FF

In FF it works like intended (puts light transparent ribbon on the bottom of the image for caption). Make 2 links same height in columns?

I have a setup where i have a unordered list on a page with x <li><a href="#">Link text</a></li>. They are via CSS set to 50% width each, so that i have 2 items on each line. My problem is that 2 links on one line, can vary in height as they have different link text. My question is; how can i, via jQuery, set the same height for each (the a is styles with a border bottom, so it would look best if they alined) on the same line? But not all in the sections should have the same height, only on a "pr line" basis. Hope it makes sence :)

Hyphen and   differences between Firefox and other browsers

Firefox and seems to render a hyphen followed by differently to other browsers. Here is some test code that demonstrates the problem: <html> <body> <div style="border: 1px solid blue;width: 50px"> This text can break. Do not - break this text. </div> </body> </html> Notice how in Firefox the second sentence does not break, but in Chrome and IE it breaks at the hyphen. Does anyone know a good workaround so that the break does not occur?

Alignment issues with IE7-8

I have major issues with cross browser compatibility. This picture illustrates the problem: What code do I put in for IE7-8 so that my menu aligns properly? Right now it looks right in firefox but nothing else. This the the menu code she had (there might be other code associated but I don't know, see actual site): .custom .menu { height:25px; border: 1px none; float:right; } I have tried things mentioned in other threads, overflow:hidden; / giving a width / margin: 0 auto etc. Nothing works and only ends up breaking Firefox as well.
