• WAMP phpundercontrol installation guide / tutorial

  Our team just thinking to start using php unit test for our problem. I not able to find a complete tutorial or installation which is install phpundercontrol in WAMP environment, I have no any experience about php unit test, but we know we need it. Our goal is everyday we would like to build the project, so we know where is the bug happen. We also would like to learn more collaboration between the team. I would like to ask / someone to teach, how to start install phpundercontrol in WAMP environment, or some link might be help.   Is there a way to link an existing .exe file with other C++ source files during compilation? What I'm actually trying to do is to compress and decompress some files in my console program using LZMA(7zip) SDK but unfortunately it's very difficult to use for a newbie. There is a command line version of LZMA called 7za.exe and I am wondering if I can somehow embed it into my program and use it like a function. It can be easily used with system() function (which seems to be a very dangerous thing to use) but then if I send my program to someone who doesn't have 7za.exe in the right folder it won't work. I came across CreateProcess() function in windows.h header files but it seems to achieve what system() does in a more proper and advanced way. I don't know if it can actually link the exe file like an object file during compilation

• What are the Pros & Cons of using SQL Azure for existing apps on dedicated servers

  We currently own our own servers, and rent a rack in a datacentre. Looking at the pricing, scalabilty and SLAs for Azure SQL, I am thinking that it might be viable to only use Azure SQL but continue to use our existing applications on our own servers in a datacentres. This will enable us to not worry about the database and its infrastructure so we can concentrate on building an application server farm with disk storeage for files etc. Our application is quite big and has various windows services and parts of it used unmanaged libraries that may not be feasible in the cloud, so probably coulnt have everything in the Azure cloud. The pros: Reduced Total Cost of ownership (no database servers, no sql server licenses) The Cons: I guess there would be overhead in the transfer of data between the Azure Cloud and our datacentre (ie cloud may be in US and datacentre is in the UK) but would this overhead be usable?

  Hi, I have a requirement of changing an existing JSF 1.1 project where I need to add an additional row to a datatable on click of a button. Currently the datatable loads 3 rows from the backing bean and this new button should add additional rows to the datatable on each click. Using the suggestion provided by http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/06/using-datatables.html I was able to display the additional row on the UI but I could not save the new data back to the database because the backing bean is in request scope and I cannot change the scope of this bean as it would create other issues. Can somebody provide me a solution to display the new row and also to save the data back to the database when the backing bean is in request scope. Thanks Shyam

• Integration Testing an Entire *Existing* Application (w/ automatic execution of test suite)

  Hi there, I have just joined a team working on an existing Java web app. I have been tasked with creating an automated integration test suite that should run when developers commit to our continuous integration server (TeamCity), which automatically deploys to our staging server - so really the tests will be run against our staging web app server. I have read a lot of stuff about automated integration testing with frameworks like Watir, Selenium and RWebSpec. I have created tests in all of these and while I prefer Watir, I am open to anything. The thing that hasn't become clear to me is how to create an entire test suite for an application, and how to have that suite execute in it's entirety upon execution of some script. I can happily create individual tests of varying complexity, but there is a gap in my knowledge about how to tie everything together into something useful. Does anyone have any advice on how to create a full test suite and have it execute automatically? Thanks!

• NSIS Uninstaller Working Directory

  I am using NSIS to create my installers/uninstallers, and the uninstaller seems to have a weird behavior. I don't put the installer in $INSTDIR, it is located at $INSTDIR/subdir/uninstall.exe (it's a addon installer for a host application). When I run the installer then, it thinks the application installation root is $INSTDIR/subdir instead of $INSTDIR. It then can't find all the files in subdir/* as it's already in subdir. If I move the executable, it seems to just accept the current directory as where the application installation root is. I can move it to $INSTDIR and all is well. Thanks.

  I am working with a commercial application which is throwing a SocketException with the message, An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host This happens with a socket connection between client and server. The connection is alive and well, and heaps of data is being transferred, but it then becomes disconnected out of nowhere. Has anybody seen this before? What could the causes be? I can kind of guess a few causes, but also is there any way to add more into this code to work out what the cause could be? Any comments / ideas are welcome. Thanks.

• Shipping GNU/Linux Firefox plugin with shared libraries (for installation with no root access)

  The application is a Firefox plugin (loaded from $HOME/.mozilla/plugins), so wrapper script that sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not an easy option. RPATH, as far as I know, cannot refer to $HOME and can be only absolue path. Firefox tries to dlopen it's plugin from ~/.mozilla/plugins but fails (because it depends on shared libraries installed somewhere in the user home directory). Modifying Firefox menu item to provide a wrapper (with LD_LIBRARY_PATH) around Firefox is too hacky. What should installer script do (without root access) to make standard firefox load plug-ins that depends on out shared library? Should I just try to make embed everything into that .so to remove dependencies? Should I try to make installer script to finish linking or patch RPATH during the installation phase?

I didn't found any tutorial for do this, and now, I'm not sure that this it's possible. I know how create an ActiveX Control recently created but not how convert an existing application.   Hi there people, I am currently relearning Ocaml and am in the need of a good editor. There is a new editor from OcamlForge: OCamlEditor http://ocamleditor.forge.ocamlcore.org/. Prerequisite for installation is Lablgtk2. Installing Lablgtk2 on windows is not straight forward and there is good instruction here: http://wwwfun.kurims.kyoto-u.ac.jp/soft/lsl/install-win32.txt I have completed the first two steps and in the third step, as warned, it is failing on the native code version. This is where I am left stranded. How do I check to see if the assembler is on my path? What am I missing here? Please help me move forward from this point. Sincere thanks. Animesh

  i originally followed these steps to get a RoR environmentgoing: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RubyOnRails that worked. then i put 1.9.2 on here. then i decided i want the original setup, did a "whereis ruby" and deleted those directories manually. that fubar'd my ruby installation. i can't use the repository to what i originally had. how can i purge ruby from completely and start fresh? right now the specific error is this: /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/rubygems.rb:11:in `require': no such file to load -- thread (LoadError) from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/rubygems.rb:11 from /usr/bin/gem1.8:8:in `require' from /usr/bin/gem1.8:8 tipu@tipu_ubuntu:~$

  I have some source codes from a friend that I would like to use as referenced library in my BlackBerry project. I'm not sure about how to package the source codes into a .jar file. I tried exporting the source to a JAR file and import it as external JAR in my project, it's giving me missing stack map error. I tried to preverify the .jar file generated from the source using the provided preverification tool from BlackBerry JDE, it didn't give me any output folder. In fact, I'm not sure if the way I export the source is correct. Can anyone provide step-by-step instructions on how to package existing source code into a valid JAR file that can be imported into my project as a referenced library? Again, I'm using eclipse. • Explain DLL Dependencies to a lay person

  This follows from a previous posting I made about lack of a clean test machine for software installations. I'm doing a bad job of explaining how DLL dependencies work and how some machines might not have the right libraries at the time of installation. The problem is that it's being viewed as a defect with the build process. I'm trying to educate the higher ups that it's not the build process per se but rather the installation process which is to blame. Here's a quote from my boss relating subcontractor work to our work to put it into perspective: I'm not a software person. All I see is that when they hand something to us it just works but when we hand something to the client there's all sorts of problems. There must be something wrong with how you're building the code. It's very easy to see how someone who is smart (scarily smart) could come to the wrong conclusion. So how would you explain the whole DLL dependency issue?

  I have 2 tables, Stores - storeId (int) and year (int(4)) both Primary Keys. fruit - fruitId - Primary Key and storeId. I need to create 1 to many relationship between the Store and Fruit (Foreign Key held within Fruit) how ever I always get shown the error - The Columns in table <table> do not match an existing primary key or unique constraint. I have an existing website and web-based calendar application that was designed by me, but coded by a different person and done procedurally. I understand that it will be very difficult for my application to ever be completely OO without a full re-write, and I'm fine with that. I have a lot of updates and modifications I want to do in the future, so I'm wanting to start replacing some of the basic components (login, authentication. etc) now, and continue to learn as I go. Again, I'm really a newbie at programming and OO. What I'm wondering is if I'm wanting to incorporate the Framework, then would I just first drop my whole site into the /public folder of the Framework and then start pulling functionality out from there?

  As part of our software's installation, we install drivers for a required 3rd party hardware component. Currently it's up to the user to manually scan for their hardware's drivers once our installation is completed. Is there an easy way to get Windows to automatically look for the drivers we installed? If so, how does it work? Do we need to tell the OS for which hardware device we have drivers, or just that we have drivers in a certain location? Or can we just install the drivers to System32 folder and trigger a driver rescan?

  am having issues with prerequisites while trying to publish my windows .net 3.5 application using clickonce. I am wanting my application to work offline as well as online, so I want to include the prerequisites in the installation and not make client download them via the internet. My prerequisites are: .Net Framework Client Profile SQL Compact 3.5 I have downloaded the .Net Framework Client Profile Offline Installer. Installed it and put the DotNetFx35Client.exe in this location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\DotNetFx35Client Under the Project - Publish Tab I have checked the "Download prerequisites from the following location" and entered \MachineName\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\DotNetFx35Client Following http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1046370?tab=oldest#tab-top I am however still the error: The install location for prerequisites has not been set to 'component vendo's website' file Dotnetfx35client\Dotnetfx35clientSteup.exe' in item .net framework client profile can not be located on disk.

• Windows Installer (C#) error code 2869

  I have a project, in VS 2005, which has a console application and a setup project associated to install the application. I also have an installer class in the console application that the setup project will use to do some validation before installation. Those tasks are checking the database connection string and checking some directory locations to make sure they exist prior to installation. I am getting an error code of 2869 when I try to install the application. All the code is written in C#. I have googled for this error code on Windows XP, but only found articles that deal with Vista and Windows 7. Any ideas what might be happening? Is there a workaround?

• Drupal does not recognize my website has been installed

  After a successful Drupal install, I was trying to follow the security recommendations and reverted the settings.php file to 444 permissions (read, read, read). Then, all of a sudden, right after doing that, Drupal does not recognize the installation process was completed. It went back to the install screen. Worst of all. I did chmod back to 666 (write, write, write) but it does not work any more. When I move forward as if I was going to install Drupal again, he tells me he does not have permissions to create the files folder under sites/default... But since the installation has already been completed... the files folder is already there... I am puzzled... Could it be some sort of server caching? Since this is one of my first adventures with a Linux server, I am a bit confused. Any help appreciated... Thanks.

  I had created a new table named USERLOG with two fields from a previous VIEW. The table already consist of about 9000 records. The two fields taken from the VIEW, i.e. weblog_views consist of IP (consists of IP address), and WEB_LINK (consists of URL). This is the code I used, CREATE TABLE USERLOG AS SELECT C_IP, WEB_LINK FROM weblog_views; I want to add another column to this table called the USER_ID, which would consists of a sequence starting with 1 to 9000 records to create a unique id for each existing rows. I need help with this part. I'm using Oracle SQL Developer: ODMiner version 3.0.04. I tried using the AUTO-INCREMENT option, ALTER TABLE USERLOG ADD USER_ID INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT; But I get an error with this, Error report: SQL Error: ORA-01735: invalid ALTER TABLE option 01735. 00000 - "invalid ALTER TABLE option" So, I would really appreciate any help that I can get!
