• How to put log in box in a website to ensure one user can vote once only?

  I have a school project to do which requires us to develop an online voting website. how do i ensure one user has voted once only? the website is supposed to be in booths in public places which means i cannot use ip addresses or cookies. i was planning to use fb login id or maybe some other email id but i cannot find relevant codes/links. i just want people to go through the procedure of entering the log in id but not go to fb directly. my website cannot be published online. could you please suggest how i can achieve this? it is a bit urgent, thank you!

I use Xcode 4 and I have one target with keys: Bundle display name : ${PRODUCT_NAME} Bundle name : ${PRODUCT_NAME} What I want, my project name is for example "test" but I want to have "MySuperApp". • C++ packing a typdef enum

  typedef enum BeNeLux { BELGIUM, NETHERLANDS, LUXEMBURG } _PACKAGE_ BeNeLux; When I try to compile this with C++ Compiler, I am getting errors, but it seems to work fine with a C compiler. So here's the question. Is it possible to pack an enum in C++, or can someone see why I would get the error? The error is: "semicolon missing after declaration of BeNeLux". I know, after checking and rechecking, that there definitely is a semicolon there, and in any places required in the rest of the code.

• Unable to edit and save a file on remote machine using notepad++

  I am using Notepad++ 5.3.1. I want to edit and save files on a remote machine(both are running on windows xp). I have granted the access privileges and security permissions in the folder containing the files. When I try to save any of these files after editing in Notepad ++, I get the following error. 'Please check whether if this file is opened in another program' There are no other places where the file has been opened but I still get this error. I was able to edit and save earlier but this error seems to be coming only since yesterday.

• Ajax twice + facbook login/logout

  Hi, I have a very specific problem. The site I'm developing loads the FB connect button by ajax (it loads the box that includes FBC button). And when user logs in it loads instead of it the box with FB logout link. The problem is that FB requires to call FB.init() at the end of the body (when all the FB stuff is already on the page) and you can't do it twice as the second time is ignored. So what happens is - I do FB.init() inside the login box and FBC button works perfectly, but the logout link doesn't as FB.init() doesn't work there. The only solution I came up with is to place the login and logout buttons outside of ajax boxes and show them in the right places after ajax boxes are loaded. I'm pretty much sure this will work but I don't like the solution (which looks more like hack).

• Trouble shooting openGL text textures not showing up correctly cross platform

  I have been tasked with solving a problem that is outside of my domain of knowledge and I was hoping I could get some troubleshooting advice from someone more experienced with openGL (I have very little experience with openGL). We are working on a cross platform application that is implemented in a common lisp implementation called ccl. In this application we have a need to display some 3D objects that display text. On the mac, all of the text displays fine but on the PC instead of displaying the text it displays some other texture. At first I thought that maybe the wrong texture was just being referenced so I tried changing the texture number but none of the textures in the list appeared to be the text (or if it was the texture was distorted and did not look like text). I know this problem is very vague and I am not looking for someone to post a solution, but I was wondering if people could suggest places I might look to try and get a handle on this issue.

  Does anyone know any ontology which specifies opening hours of places? For example, I have a museum, which has 2 seasons. For low season (season start and end is specified), it is opened 10.00 - 18.00 on weekdays and 10-16 on saturday (on sunday it's closed), for high season it's opened 10-20 on weekdays and 10-18 on weekend. If there is no ontology, may-be people have experience, how best to structure information like that? I'm describing information in RDF. But whatever comments are welcome (even if you have relational database which holds given data). Thanks

  Hello everyone :) I've heard in several places that it's bad to have code that is too wide onscreen. For example: for (std::vector<EnumServiceInformation>::const_iterator currentService = services.begin(); currentService != services.end(); currentService++) However, I've heard many arguments for 80 character wide limits. I'm assuming this 80 character limit comes from the traditional command prompt, which is typically 80 characters wide. However -- most of us are working on something much better than a typical command prompt, and I feel that using an 80 character limit encourages use of variable names that are far too short and do not describe what the variable is used for. What is a reasonable limit for a new project with no existing coding width standard?

  Hi, I am using Visual Studio 2010 for an MVC website project. I have an big problem and dont know hot to solve it. When i am looking to the output of html in firebug indents in my aspx and ascx files are outputed as space in same places. I think its about line ending of files but i am not sure how to fix them. I am adding some pictures about problem. When i am adding a breakpoint it also add red background to spaces (this is problem) I try to delete spaces after hit ctrl+k d same problem happen. If i delete all indents make page 1 line without spaces output is fine but it not a solution.

  I wrote a basic free app for the bus schedule in my American university's town which was accepted into the app store on Saturday. Since then the app has been downloaded (assuming I'm reading the iTunes Connect reports right) 18 times in Canada, 6 times in Germany, and many times from other places all over the world. I can't figure out why all these people are downloading it... are there services automatically downloading free apps for some purpose that I can't even imagine? Should I put a price on it ASAP?

  I'm trying to generate rating place table using following receipt http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1776821/assign-places-in-the-rating-mysql-php but my database is high loaded. I tried not to create table, but use MEMORY TABLE and update it using following SQL query insert into tops (uid) select uid from users order by exp desc; but got the following MySQL error Deadlock found when trying to get lock; try restarting transaction because there are too many queries until SQL select is being executed. How to solve this problem? P.S. CREATE TABLE tops as SELECT work almost fine except high server load... up to load average: 50 if tops are non-memory table. My table users has near 4.5 millions of rows. Thanks for any advices.

  I am currently playing around with the idea of having history tables for some of my tables in my database. Basically I have the main table and a copy of that table with a modified date and an action column to store what action was preformed eg Update,Delete and Insert. So far I can think of three different places that you can do the history table work. Triggers on the main table for update, insert and delete. (Database) Stored procedures. (Database) Application layer. (Application) My main question is, what are the pros, cons and gotchas of doing the work in each of these layers. One advantage I can think of by using the triggers way is that integrity is always maintained no matter what program is implmentated on top of the database.

• How can I allow only privledged users to download a pdf with php?

  Lets say I have some pdf files stored on my server and I only want to allow a person who's paid have access to download a particular pdf. So for an example, let's say I have a bunch of e-books. The only way a user would be able to download e-book A is if his account contains the right credentials for that particular book. What's the best way to accomplish this? Any ideas/advice on how to improve my idea are greatly appreciated! My current idea: A user places an order Upon success, a new folder would be created by their /account_num/order_id/ A copy of the particular file would be stored in this directory Have php generate an .htaccess that would only allow access from a url that contains a random hash embedded into it. The only way a user would be able to access this random hashed page is if they are signed in as the right user, and the hash matches up with the hash stored in the database, otherwise they are redirected to home page.

• Xcode File management. What is best practice?

  I've been using Xcode for a while now. One thing that always bugs me is the way it handles files. I like to have my files all in nested folders rather than one big physical folder, but when you create a group in Xcode by default it does not create a folder just a virtual folder within the project. I can see that virtual folders are great for linking code in arbitrary places into your project but once you get beyond a few classes I find the one big folder approach really painful. And then if you try to fix it later it takes ages and is easy to break your build. Is it possible to change this behaviour so that by default it creates a physical folder? Or am I doing it wrong and trying to cling to some other way of working? How do other people work with files in Xcode?

  Sheesh talk about limited information! I'm trying to get my Android application to connect to an online database to access information. There's quite a bit of info including geotags and these are going to be mapped on my app. The developer site has the very informative piece of information: You can use the network (when it's available) to store and retrieve data on your own web-based services. To do network operations, use classes in the following packages: java.net.* android.net.* Like I said in my previous question, I'm still very much an android newbie, and trying to remember my java oop from college is slow. Does anyone have an example of how this might work, or how I could implement it? I wouldn't mind even connecting to a local xml file, if I could find a good example of how to do that!? • convert int into string with certain length of char

  If the title wasn't clear, ill try to explain it well here. I have a bunch of integers, ranging from 1 to 999, and i need to convert these into strings, but when i do that, i need them to be 3 characters long. so for instance, if i had: int i1 = 45; then when i turned that into a string, i'd need this: "045" or similarly, if i had an int of 8 then that would have to turn into "008", and if anything had 3 places, such as 143, then it would just be outputted as 143. is this easily possible?   I have a problem, I want to use local::lib; in a script. But because I need to use this script many places, I don't want to try adding the eval to bashrc, every time I install this script to a server. and I can't get local::lib installed globally (in the default @INC) on the servers. Is there any way I can use local::lib from within the script so that it knows where the module local::lib is without the eval that local::lib recommends and without installing it into a directory in the default @INC on the server?

  I've inherited some C# code that contains about a thousand lines of source that I need to modify, transforming it from this: newDataRow["to_dir"] = comboBox108.Text; To this: assetAttributes.Add("to_dir", comboBox108.Text); The lines occur in various places throughout the application in groups of 40 or 50. Modifying each line by hand in Visual Studio 2008 can be done but it's labor intensive and prone to errors. Is there a Windows utility out there that will let me cut and paste groups of code into it and then run some sort of reg-ex expression to transform the individual lines one-by-one? I'd also be willing to use some sort of VS 2008 add-in that performed the same set of reg-ex operations against a selection of code. Thanks in advance.

  Dear ladies and sirs. I want to change the primary key of an entity in database, so that all the relevant foreign key constraints are updated as well./We are using NHibenate as our ORM. Is it possible to do it? Thanks. P.S. I know the practice of changing the primary key is highly discouraged. My problem is that my primary key is backed by a natural Id of the entity, which may sometimes change. We could, theoretically, utilize a unique primary key, unrelated to the natural key of the entity, but this complicates things too much in other places, so this is not an option.

• Extended maxima transform in Matlab

  I use imtophat to apply a filter to an m x n array. I then find the local max using imextendedmax(). I get mostly 0's everywhere except for 1's in the general areas where I am expecting a local max. The weird thing is, though, that I don't get just one local max. Instead in these places I get MANY elements with 1's such as 00011100000 00111111000 00000110000 yet the values there are close but NOT equal so I would expect that there would be one that is higher than all of the rest. So I'm wondering a) if this is a bug and how I might fix it and b) how you would choose choose the element of these 1's with the highest value.

The detail of it is not important, but what I want to know is: since it is not a model-related chunk of code, it really can be use anywhere: in controllers, in models, in view helpers; even in views. So I am unsure where and, even bigger of a problem, how to activate the use of it once I place it in some location. Is it what those "require" statements are all about? That you can acquire some functionality through a "require" statement in the current file you are working on? Just so that we have an example to talk about, say, I have a little snippet of code that does cubing: def cube_it(num) num**3 end I know that I will be using it in various places across the application, so where should I put it? and when I do need to use it, how can I "summon" it?   i wrote this python code, which from wolfram alpha says that its supposed to return the factorial of any positive value (i probably messed up somewhere), integer or not: from math import * def double_factorial(n): if int(n) == n: n = int(n) if [0,1].__contains__(n): return 1 a = (n&1) + 2 b = 1 while a<=n: b*=a a+= 2 return float(b) else: return factorials(n/2) * 2**(n/2) *(pi/2)**(.25 *(-1+cos(n * pi))) def factorials(n): return pi**(.5 * sin(n*pi)**2) * 2**(-n + .25 * (-1 + cos(2*n*pi))) * double_factorial(2*n) the problem is , say i input pi to 6 decimal places. 2*n will not become a float with 0 as its decimals any time soon, so the equation turns out to be pi**(.5 * sin(n*pi)**2) * 2**(-n + .25 * (-1 + cos(2*n*pi))) * double_factorial(loop(loop(loop(...))))) how would i stop the recursion and still get the answer? ive had suggestions to add an index to the definitions or something, but the problem is, if the code stops when it reaches an index, there is still no answer to put back into the previous "nests" or whatever you call them
