  • Can the Dell PowerEdge T320 boot from a USB stick in hard drive emulation mode?

    I am trying to install FreeNAS on a Dell PowerEdge T320. I've followed the instructions here (http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Burning_an_IMG_File) to write the .img file to four different USB sticks with dd if=FreeNAS-9.2.1.5-RELEASE-x64.img of=/dev/sde, but I can't boot off of any of them. When I try to boot, I get the following screen: F1 FreeBSD F2 FreeBSD F3 Drive 0 Then it auto-selects F1 and either prints # about once a second forever, or it sits with a blinking cursor doing nothing. Forum posts and the wiki page linked above say to set the USB boot emulation mode to hard disk (as opposed to auto or CD/DVD/floppy), and older Dell PowerEdge models including the T310 have this option in the BIOS settings, but I cannot find it on the T320 with the latest BIOS 2.1.2. I have even tried writing the USB image to a USB hard disk, but with the same lack of success. Has anyone been able to find this USB boot setting on a T320, or been able to boot FreeNAS/FreeBSD from USB in some other way on a T320?

  • Is bonding mode=5 a solution against MAC flapping?

    There is two are interconnected Cisco WS-2950T. By the one GBIC port on first switch connected a first NIC of bonding interface, and by the one GBIC port on second switch connected a second NIC of bonding interface. Of course the both switches sees the bonding MAC-address only on one interface (eg it is GBIC on first switch) and all incoming traffic for bonding interface passes through this GBIC. But in "mode=5" all outgoing traffic are distributed between the all interfaces that make bond. In this case, the packets will be dropped from the second switch and anyway will going through the first switch? Or the division will be working?

The failure was a ugly and so individual drives fell out of the array a little at a time. While there are backups, we the are not really done as frequently as we really need. There is some data that I am trying to recover if I can. I got additional hardware and I was able to access the drives again. The drives appear to be fine, and I can get the array and filesystem active and mounted (using read-only mode). I am able to access some data on the filesystem and have been copying that off, but I am seeing lots of errors when I try to copy the most recent data. When I am trying to access that most recent data I am getting errors like below which makes me think that the array size discrepancy may be the problem.   • Tuning Linux IP routing parameters -- secret_interval and tcp_mem

    We had a little failover problem with one of our HAProxy VMs today. So we increased them by 4x from their defaults (this is Ubuntu Server, not sure if the Linux flavor matters): current values are: 45984 61312 91968 new values are: 183936 245248 367872 After that, we started seeing a bizarre error message: Jan 26 08:18:49 haproxy1 kernel: [ 2291.579726] Route hash chain too long! Jan 26 08:18:49 haproxy1 kernel: [ 2291.579732] Adjust your secret_interval! Shh.. it's a secret!! This apparently has to do with /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/secret_interval which defaults to 600 and controls periodic flushing of the route cache The secret_interval instructs the kernel how often to blow away ALL route hash entries regardless of how new/old they are. In our environment this is generally bad. The CPU will be busy rebuilding thousands of entries per second every time the cache is cleared. However we set this to run once a day to keep memory leaks at bay (though we've never had one). While we are happy to reduce this, it seems odd to recommend dropping the entire route cache at regular intervals, rather than simply pushing old values out of the route cache faster. After some investigation, we found /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/gc_elasticity which seems to be a better option for keeping the route table size in check: gc_elasticity can best be described as the average bucket depth the kernel will accept before it starts expiring route hash entries. This will help maintain the upper limit of active routes. We adjusted elasticity from 8 to 4, in the hopes of the route cache pruning itself more aggressively. The secret_interval does not feel correct to us. But there are a bunch of settings and it's unclear which are really the right way to go here. /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/gc_elasticity (8) /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/gc_interval (60) /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/gc_min_interval (0) /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/gc_timeout (300) /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/secret_interval (600) /proc/sys/net/ipv4/route/gc_thresh (?) rhash_entries (kernel parameter, default unknown?) We don't want to make the Linux routing worse, so we're kind of afraid to mess with some of these settings. Can anyone advise which routing parameters are best to tune, for a high traffic HAProxy instance?

  • Silverlight DataGrid not stretching to accommodate all items in data source?

    I'm having problems getting a Silverlight DataGrid to stretch to accommodate all the items in it's dataSource. I've got a Grid that contains two DataGrids. I've tried setting height=Auto on the Grid and the DataGrids. I've tried setting HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch" on the Grid and the DataGrids. The object tag has height="100%" I've set the Height="*" on the RowDefinitions for the Grid Any help would be very much appreciated!     If I do an nslookup on youtube.com, no problem, if I do one with www.youtube.com, failure. See details below. If I do the same from a Windows machine its fine, its when I do it from a Mac workstation that I get the issue. I have rebooted, both server and workstation, I did a changeip, but nothing is working. Any recommendations?

  • How to paint fully transparent pixels/points in P2D mode?

    According to the Processing Reference, stroke(gray, alpha) allows to set the color and opacity of the stroke. With the default color mode, an alpha value of 255 denotes full opacity, while a value of 0 should correspond to complete transparency. While this works with the (default) JAVA2D renderer, I can't seem to paint fully transparent points in P2D mode. While from other user-mode spin_lock implementation, most of them use CAS (Compare and Swap).

    Hello, guys. How to get/set the hours and minutes via code from a UIDatePicker in UIDatePickerModeCountDownTimer mode? The situation: I have an interface in that a user selects just hours and minutes. Then, he saves the information (so, I have to get the hours and minutes from UIDatePicker via code to save in a DB). When the user is editing the information saved previously, I want to start the interface with the saved hours/minutes (so, I have to set the UIDatePicker hours and minutes retrieved from DB via code). How do I do that with the UIDatePiker in UIDatePickerModeCountDownTimer mode? Thanks in advance.

  • Configure custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 in Remote Administration mode?

    So the release of Windows Server 2012 has removed a lot of the old Remote Desktop related configuration utilities. In particular, there is no more Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration utility that gave you access to the RDP-Tcp properties dialog that let you configure a custom certificate for the RDSH to use. In its place is a nice new consolidated GUI that is part of the overall "edit deployment properties" workflow in the new Server Manager. The catch is that you only get access to that workflow if you have the Remote Desktop Services role installed (as far as I can tell). This seems like a bit of an oversight on Microsoft's part. How can we configure a custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 when it's running in the default Remote Administration mode without needlessly installing the Remote Desktop Services role?

  • Apache vs Lighttpd: Weird behavior in reverse proxy mode.

    Context: I have an Apache server running in reverse proxy mode in front of a Tomcat java server. It handle HTTP and HTTPS and send those request back and forth to the Tomcat server on an internal HTTP port. Goal: I'm trying to replace the reverse proxy with Lighttpd. Problem: while asking for the same HTTPS url, while using Apache as the reverse proxy, the Tomcat server redirect (302) to an HTTPS page but with Lighttpd it redirect to the same page in HTTP (not HTTPS). Question: What does Lighttpd could do different in order to have a different result from the backend server? In theory, using Apache or Lighttpd server as a reverse proxy should not change anything... but it does. Any idea? I'll try to find something by sniffing the traffic on the backend tomcat server.

    I want to create a lab for my students with netkit (a network emulator based on 802.1X) to study 802.1X. I can create the authentication server (FreeRadius) and configure the client with XSupplicant connected by a switch (a Linux in bridge mode). I'm looking to a way to configure the switch as Authenticator, i.e.: when the client is connected, the switch only forwards EAP packets to the authentication server. then the switch lets the user access to the local network when the authentication server authorizes the client. At the present time there is a lot of documentation to do this with a wireless point but no one for a switch. Does anyone have an idea or know the good software for it ?

I called them SuperParent, NamedParent, TypedParent and ParentType. NamedParent and TypedParent derives from superParent. TypedParent has one to many association with ParentType. I describe mapping for entities using queryView. The problem is then I want to get TypedParents and Include ParentType I get the following exception: An error occurred while preparing the command definition.     I have a problem, everytime i type a text, it is overwriting what i have typed. i assume that the mode is set to overwriting, I want to insert the text not overwrite it, but i can't disable it because my insert key is mix up with my delete key so everytime i enter insert to disable the overwrite mode, it just delete what i type. so how to disable this? it's getting very annoying.. i'm using centOS.. and it seems that my problem is only related to netbeans because when i type here, it is set to insert mode.. but in netbeans, it just overwrites the codes! help!

    On a multi-monitor system, if I'm viewing a full-screen video in Flash on one monitor, clicking the mouse on the other monitor causes Flash to leave full-screen mode and revert to normal size. What's the easiest way of preventing this that works on my version of Flash? My system is Flash 10 (10.0.12.36), in Firefox 3.5 on Windows Vista 64, but I think it affects all current versions. This is very annoying behaviour, but unfortunately, according to this bug report response it seem to be a security feature, rather than a bug: We understand that many users would like fullscreen on one monitor and to be able to interact with your OS on another monitor. However, due to security requirements, we require that Flash and Browser must be the current focus of your OS.

    I'm using an Asus wireless router model RT-AC68U and can connect fine to the internet using it wirelessly. I configured the router to be an Access Point, but having done so, I can no longer locate the GUI to adjust the router as I have no idea what its IP Address is anymore. The router is plugged into a cable modem and router which is a model SMCD3G is a business class gateway labeled Comcast Business IP Gateway. This gateway is assigning ip addresses in the range 10.1.10.XX and I went to the web interface at 10.1.10.1 and listed the connected devices and see my laptop which is connected to the Asus access point along with a few other devices, but none of the devices listed are the Asus router (I tried all the six ip addresses listed). How can I determine the IP Address of my Asus router in access point mode so I can see the GUI interface again to control the router other than by doing a factory reset?

I have read that I should be wanting to set up the AM200 in half-bridge mode, so that the WRT54GL gets the WAN IP - this sounds like a good idea, but I'd still like to be advised. I have read that the dd-wrt firmware will meet my needs (though I gather I'll need the vpn-specific build, which appears to preclude supporting VOIP), but I'm not wedded to using it. My ISP supplies me with: a block of 8 static IPs, of which 5 are usable to me a PPPoA ADSL2+ connection
