• Web server which supports removing a file immediately after it has been downloaded once?

  I need a web server that allows me to remove a file after it has been successfully downloaded once. Is there any way to do this with apache? Is there another web server I can use for this task? I had already looked into Tornado for this purpose, but couldn't find a way to get an event to fire as soon as the download finished. the on_connection_close would only fire when I shut down the server. I'd prefer something PHP or Python-based if I have to code it myself.

  I am trying to prepare a complete list of behaviour that Gmail POP3 exhibits, that you wouldn’t expect to generally find in a POP3 server. For example, Gmail appears to ignore the DELE (delete) command from a POP3 client. Instead, it implements its own delete and archive strategy. The purpose of preparing a list is to avoid developers testing a POP3 client against the Gmail POP3 server and then assuming that all POP3 servers behave in the same way. Can anyone provide a more complete list of non-standard behaviour?

  I'm still entangled in error handling problems. After having read and tried lots of different scripts, I still do not have an overall insight on the problem. I made a syntax error on purpose and get the following error message : Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/directory/public_html/mypage.php on line 10 To understand how it work, as a first step, I'd like to remove this message(which I'am able to do) and replace it by a custom one.   In the Magento Admin section, I want to override the "Sales/Order/ShipmentController.php" controller file of the core Mage. I have tried rewriting the URL, using the "from" & "to" tags, but in vain. I don't know what is the actual & correct way of doing this, as I'm a newbie in Magento. Please anybody provide some good fundamental & correct answer, so that at least the concept gets clear. Also, if possible, please tell me, what is the actual purpose of the controller, for both the frontend & the back-end? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I created an enum where I stored some table names. Now I have not created any instance of this enum so that no one can use it for other than read only purpose. • Aptana Studio is opening but not ever closing a python.exe process

  I am developing a small testing website using Django 1.2 in Aptana Studio build 2.0.4.1268158907. I have a Django project that I test by running the command "runserver 8001" on my project. This command runs the project on a small server that comes with Django. However the problem arises that every time I run this command Aptana opens two instances of the process "python.exe". Upon terminating the command only one of these instances is ended. The other process continues to run and use memory. My server is not online, and the process doesn't seem to do anything that I can find. This happens every time i run the runserver command on my project and therefore more and more python.exe instances will open up through my development period. Any help discovering either the purpose of this extra python.exe or a way to prevent it from opening would be much appreciated.

  Well, I keep putting semantic information about what an element means for the page logically in the class attribute <li class="phone-number">555-5555</li> It seems to work for this dual purpose of hanging semantic information and a pointer to how to style it. I'm not sure if this is the best idea, I'm trying to see if others have other ways of doing it. • Subprocess statement works in python console but not work in Serverdensity plugin?

• How to Create a Virtual Windows Drive

  Hello, I'm trying to create a Windows Virtual Drive ( like c:\ ) to map a remote storage. The main purpose is to do it in a clear way to the user. Therefore the user wouldn't know that he is writing/reading from another site. I was searching for available products, and i find that FUSE is not an option in Windows and WebDAV maps directly the drive, and i would like to build a middle layer between windows and remote storage to implement some kind of services. Another alternatives exists, such as Dokan, that is very expensive, and System.IO.IsolatedStorage Namespace, that doesn't seem to explicity create a new Windows Drive. Probably pismo ( http://www.pismotechnic.com/ ) is the thing that mostly matches my requirements but I would know if there is another alternative, including some Windows ( C++ or .NET ) native API to do that.   I'm trying to implement an all-purpose function for printing 2D data. What I've come up with is: int mprintf(FILE* f, char* fmt, void** data, size_t cols, size_t rows) The challenge is determining how many bits to read at once from data, based on fmt. The format fmt is going to be the stdlib's-specific format for printf() and alike. Do you have any knowledge of already-existing features from stdlibc (GNU GCC C's) I could use to ease this up? I try avoiding having to do it all manually, because I know "I am stupid" (I don't want to introduce stupid bugs). Thus, reusing code would be the bug-freest way. Thanks Addendum I see there's a /usr/include/printf.h. Can't I use any of those functions to do it right and ease my job at the same time?

• XML to XHTML - Best Method?

  Not wishing to be subjective but I have a need to get data from an XML source and convert it to (X)HTML. From my understanding I can do this with PHP (or other server-side scripts), Javascript, or XSLT. My feeling is that it would be more appropriate to use XSLT as it is dealing with an XML source and this is the purpose for which XSLT exists. I also see it having the advantage that it will still work if the user doesn't have Javascript enabled and wont be restricted to a server which runs PHP (or other server-side script). Am I right in my assumptions? Also could the same be same for an RSS feed? Thanks

  Is there any way to exclude/delete/replace one field from a csv file with some regexp in notepad++? I have a csv file with some data like this: '1','data1','data2','data3','data4','data5','data6','data7','data8','data9', 'data10','data11','data12','data13','data14','data15','data16','data17','data18', 'data19','data20','data21','data22','data23','\'data24 with some commas, here and there and some "double quotes", and fullstops.','data25','data26' The only problem I am facing is with data24 WHERE I encounter \' and then "" and some wild characters like , and .. This is particularly fixed at 24 field. For the purpose of clarity, I have entered a newline here. But the entire text above is in juts one line. Any ideas on how to solve? Thanks.

• How can I save/print values in my WATCH list in Visual Studio 2008?

  When I attach the Visual Studio 2008 debugger to my web server process, I sometimes browse a large amount of data in my watch list. Suppose I have an array of string variable that I expand to show 20 entries. It seems that the only way to save these values is to copy and paste them one at a time. I have gone so far as to do a screen-shot in order to have a record of what the values were (to refer to later or print a hard copy). Is there an easy way to save and print these values? I am familiar with the new "IntelliTrace" feature in Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, but it seems overkill for this purpose. I just want to take something like an array of strings and save it for later reference once I've stopped the debugger. What's a good way to do this?

  Hi. I am wondering if it is possible to create an application that could receive a notification when any other application/window is docked with the new windows 7 docking feature (f.ex. Winkey + left arrow) The purpose of my application would be to set up custom rules for certain windows. So for example if I am using Chrome and I press the Win+LEFT keys, then my application would receive a notification, and would be able to say that the window should not resize to 50% of the screen, but should use 70%. I am not very familiar with writing windows applications (mostly do web), so any pointers at how this might be achieved are very welcome. Thanks.

• New form on a different thread

  So I have a thread in my application, which purpose is to listen to messages from the server and act according to what it recieves. I ran into a problem when I wanted to fire off a message from the server, that when the client app recieves it, the client app would open up a new form. However this new form just freezes instantly. I think what's happening is that the new form is loaded up on the same thread as the thread listening to the server, which of course is busy listening on the stream, in turn blocking the thread. Normally, for my other functions in the clients listening thread, I'd use invokes to update the UI of the main form, so I guess what I'm asking for is if here's a way to invoke a new form on the main form.

• Navigating between activities and tasks

  The situation: I have an activity "A" that is a delegator activity, in simple words, it's only purpose is to call activity "B" (via startActivityForResult()) depending on data it receives. Activity "B" has launchMode set to "singleTask", so it always runs in a single task. When activity "A" gets started from another task (for example as a share from gallery) it immediately returns ACTION_CANCELLED for activity "B", finishes, and task of activity "B" comes to front (which is an expected behavior). So, what happens, is that we jump from our Gallery app task, to my activity "B" task. Everything is fine until user presses back. Since we are already in a different task, the back button doesn't lead us back to gallery. It navigates in the stack of activity "B" task. The question: is there any way to navigate from one task, to previously shown task (navigate from activity "B" to gallery)? Or maybe there is a way to take currently running activity "B" and move it to another task?

  I'm new here same as I'm new with assembly. I hope that you can help me to start. I'm using 32bit (i686) Ubuntu to make programs in assembly, using gcc compiler. I know that general-purpose-registers are 32bit (4 bytes) max, but what when I have to operate on 64 bit numbers? Intel's instruction says that higher bits are stored in %edx and lower in %eax Great... So how can I do something with this 2-registers number? I have to convert 64bit dec to bin, then save it to memory and show on the screen. How to make the 64bit quadword at start of the program in .data section?

  I have a console application in which I want to write the name of a file. Process.Start("blah.bat"); Normally, I would have something like that in windows application by writing the name of the file 'blah.bat' to Settings file in Properties. However, here I didn't find any Settings file and I added an app.config for the same purpose. I am not sure what to write here in app.config, that would lead to me to achieve similar thing as in windows forms. For eg: In windows forms. Process.Start(Properties.Settings.Default.BatchFile); where BatchFile is a string in settings file in Properties.

  When exporting a signed Android application using Eclipse, is there a purpose to using multiple aliases? According to the official guide about signing, it's recommended that you sign all applications with the same certificate to allow your applications to share data, code and be updated in modular fashion. Assuming that "alias", "key" and "certificate" are essentially interchangeable in this context, is there a reason why someone would want to use different aliases for all their applications? The only reason I can think of is that it adds more security to your applications, in the sense that a compromised key/password doesn't compromise everything. Are there other reasons? Also, is the generated key dependent on the name of the alias? In other words, if you change the name of the alias but not the password, would the generated certificate be different? Thanks.

  My goal is to asynchronously call a URL via POST request (REST Webservice) to increment a statistic on one of my object. I am a newby web developper and I discovered JSON yesterday. Since JSON seems a lot popular and handy I went to www.json.org and discovered a JSONRequest object which seems to able one to send POST/GET request asynchronously but I can't get it work. Is it a global Javascript object or do I need to add some files ? I am a little bit confused since I've found a Firefox plugin extension for JSONRequest but I don't understand its purpose.

• Why do we need Web-Api? [closed]

  I was just wondering what the deal is with Asp.net Web-Api. Why did we need a separate type of controller in order to facilitate varying content types for action results? Why wasn't this capability just baked into the ASP.Net MVC base controller? Anyway, I was just wondering if there was a compelling reason to use both types of controllers within the same project, assuming that the project was being freshly created, or if this project structure was due to an inherent technical limitation. Would it be possible to have ApiControllers fulfill the purpose of an MVC Controller in all cases by just serving HTML when that is the specified accept type? It just seems to me like a lot of unnecessary repetition to have to re-implement the same types of actions using both types of controllers if you want those actions to be available to your web application through the API and through the web interface.
