  Hi, I'm working on Flash Builder with latest flex SDK. • ActionView::MissingTemplate after Rails 3.1 upgrade

  After upgrading to Rails 3.1.0 and following David Rice's instructions, all of my controllers strangely can't find their views anymore. # rails s # Started GET "/units" for 127.0.0.1 at 2011-09-04 07:52:23 -0400 Unit Load (0.1ms) SELECT "units".* FROM "units" ActionView::MissingTemplate (Missing template units/index, application/index with {:handlers=>[:erb, :builder], :formats=>[:html], :locale=>[:en, :en]}. Searched in: ): app/controllers/units_controller.rb:9:in `index' units_controller.rb: # GET /units # GET /units.xml def index @units = Unit.all respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @units } end end Of course, the view is there (/app/views/units/index.html.erb; it was working before the upgrade). I feel this is a stupid error, what am I missing here?

• Add programmatically clickable Button with custom Views layouted in InterfaceBuilder

  I have a UIScrollView. In there I add buttons programmatically. Right now I just use UIButton and set one title. But I need to have an UIImage View in there, that will change upon certain events, Text that will change too etc. and I would like to style that in Interface Builder, but I can't figure out how to do this. Which class should I extend, and what kind of xib should I create and what in there, so that in the end I can make the right connections and so that I can listen for UIControlEventTouchDown of that Button.

  Hi, Due to the lack of Deployment functionality of Visual Studio Express edition, I'm here asking if anyone can recommend a very nice free Deployment template for the express edition. I'm mainly working with C# desktop project. I know that there is still ClickOnce deployment in the Express edition, but it seems to me that it is not so difficult to control, which means, you do "click once", then the tool will give you a bunch of files out of my control, not so easy to maintain. • How to extract delegates from ViewController class?

  Hi I have the problem that my view controller class has too many delegates and starts to get big. I want to write the delegates in separate classes to keep the view controller class small. For delegates that are programmatically created (like UIAlertViewDelegate) I could do it easily. The problem is in the delegates assigned in Interface Builder. How can I tell the IB to assign, for example, another class as the UITableViewDelegate or UITableViewDataSource? Or how to choose another IBAction method for a Touch UP inside Event on a button? One solution would be to delete the connections from IB and write them programmatically at ViewDidLoad, but since I have a lot of ViewControllers, this would take a long time. any other ideas?

Compiler is Codegear C++Builder 2007. Oddly, if the constructor for Derived is deleted, the warning goes away... Is it me or the compiler?

The problem is that when I include the auto_discovery_link in my templates, I have to add one for each of the two atom feeds that I've generated. The reason why this is a problem is that there are now two feeds for users to choose from, and most people probably won't realise that they need both so will only pick one. Is there a way to combine atom feeds from different resources into one atom feed? Like application.atom or something? I'm using builder to generate the feed.

  I have two NIB's ParentViewController.xib ChildViewController.xib ParentViewController.xib contains a UIView and a UIViewController. ChildViewController.xib contains a UIButton I want ChildViewController.xib to load in the ParentViewController.xib's UIView I have done the following: Created @property for UIView in ParentViewController Connected File's Owner to UIView in ParentViewController Set UIViewController in ParentViewController's NIB Name property to ChildViewController in Interface Builder Set ChildViewController view property to UIView in ParentViewController I was hoping this would load ChildViewController into my UIView in ParentViewController but no luck. I did get the following warning, which could be the culprit: 'View Controller (Child View)' has both its 'NIB Name' property set and its 'view' outlet connected. This configuration is not supported. I also have added additional code in ParentViewController's viewDidLoad(): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; ChildViewController *childViewController = [[ChildViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ChildViewController" bundle:nil]; childViewController.view = self.myView; } Any thoughts on why ChildViewController does not load in the UIView of ParentViewController?

  This guide from apple https://developer.apple.com/iphone/prerelease/library/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/TableView_iPhone/TableViewCells/TableViewCells.html (you need login) explains how to use "The Technique for Static Row Content" to use Interface Builder to setup the cells in a tableview. I have some cells with different heights in my tableview. Without using the heightForRowAtIndexPath method everything get messed up. Do I still need to use this method or can I in some way setup the height of the cells inside the IB as I created them there? Also when using the "The Technique for Static Row Content" from the guide you still need to use the cellForRowAtIndexPath to setup the cells even if they are created in IB. I would like to setup the full layout of the tableview with all cells in IB (drag the cells right into the tableview), is that possible in some way? Thanks!

  I'm using the C++Builder compiler which has a minor bug that certain static const items from system header files can cause spurious "xyzzy is declared but never used" warnings. I'm trying to get my code 100% warning free, so want a way of masking these particular warnings (note - but not by simply turning off the warning!) Also, I can't modify the header files. I need a way of 'faking' the use of the items, preferably without even knowing their type. As an example, adding this function to my .cpp modules fixes warnings for these four items, but it seems a bit 'ad-hoc'. On Day 1, the tutorial instructs the developer We need to reference the label in our code so we can update the label * In the document window "File's Owner" * Click: Tools->Idenity Inspector * In the inspector click the + under "Class Outlets" * Change myOutlet1 to "countdownLabel" * Change id to UILabel * Click enter to make sure they commit I really don't want to get hung up on this, but I can't find "Class Outlets" either when creating a new project from scratch or opening the zipped source code project. Is this just a difference in versions of Interface Builder? Where did it go?

• xcode - warning there's no getter/setter for property not even mentioned in the code!!

  I got the warning : property 'textField' requires method '-textField' to be defined - use @synthesize, @dynamic or provide a method implementation. Now, there is no such property defined in my project! More bizarre, if I just click save in Interface builder and build again, the build is successful - though, right on the line with '@end' the warning appears. Also weird: if I begin to write some code ..and then delete it just the way it was before writing it (maybe not code..anything) and then build&go the warning with the textField appears again. Could be a bug of sdk? What could be happening?

• Are the built-in images in iPhone documented, and is there a list of their names somewhere?

  I discovered somewhat by accident that if you make a UIButton in Interface Builder and type in Plus in the image field, a + image appears for the button. A similar result comes from typing Minus. I am wondering if this is a bug, or if there is some way the poor programmers can access the built-in general GUI images from other apple apps, such as the green +, the red -, the detail disclosure chevron, the big red "Delete Contact" or similarly styled button, etc. Has anyone else encountered this, or know where to access these things in Xcode? It makes sense to me that they should be usable, cause the Apple HIG seems to be all about making things recognizable and intuitive, and using them the way other apps use them.

  Hey, I have a problem with sorting NSTableColumn contents. In my NSTableView there are three columns: File, Size, Path. The contents are stored in NSMutableArray. Each object in this array is a NSDictionary containing three keys: file, size and path - value for each is a NSString. In Interface Builder, in each Table Column's attributes I can choose sorting options: Selector: IB entered "compare:" which I think is ok, because I compare NSStrings. Sort Key - and that's the problem I think - I don't know what to enter here. Any clues? If you've got questions about my code, please ask.

• HTML_Template_IT and wordpress

  I want to use PEAR's HTML_Template_IT in one of my Wordpress page templates so I can separate the HTML from the PHP. I got it working, except I am not sure about one thing. Wordpress's built-in function get_header() actually echo's HTML - so I can't technically set it as a template variable. Is this considered acceptable or is there another way to put the contents of get_header() in a variable? Thanks!

• Is it possible to generate plain-old XML using Haml?

  I've been working on a piece of software where I need to generate a custom XML file to send back to a client application. The current solutions on Ruby/Rails world for generating XML files are slow, at best. Using builder or event Nokogiri, while have a nice syntax and are maintainable solutions, they consume too much time and processing. I definetly could go to ERB, which provides a good speed at the expense of building the whole XML by hand. HAML is a great tool, have a nice and straight-forward syntax and is fairly fast. But I'm struggling to build pure XML files using it. Which makes me wonder, is it possible at all? Does any one have some pointers to some code or docs showing how to do this, build a full, valid XML from HAML?

• First iPhone App View Position Problem

  I am closely following the instructions given in the tutorial "Your First iPhone Application" on apple ADC. In the interface builder, I have set up a button positioned on the top according to the Apple Interface Guidelines. It runs without trouble if I simulate the interface in IB. However, if I run the built app, I get what is shown here. If you look at the view clearly, you will see that the entire view has been shifted up. And the magnitude of the shift is exactly the height of the status bar. And that's why the there is blank space at the bottom of the window, which was white instead of red. I have tried turning on the "Simulated Interface Elements", but that doesn't work either. The problem persists on real devices as well. However, using the "Simulate Interface" from IB looks fine.   I have a friend who is trying to make the switch to Linux, but is hung up on the apparent lack of debugging/IDE environments for C++, especially as they relate to template programming. He has been using visual studio for years and is maybe a little spoiled by their awesome IDE. Does anyone have any good suggestions for an environment where he can, under Linux, develop and debug with all of the usual things (Breakpoints, line highlighting for compilation errors, step in/over/out/etc, etc) that he's accustomed to? When I run it with a third party query app I have works fine, but when I try to implement it into visual studio I can't do it. What is the correct way to extract last month data?   I am new to Powershell and Powercli... but i manager few ESX environments and really would like to do as much as possible via powershell. I am trying to do as much as i can via Powershell. On with the help I need: I used this one liner to create VMs from templates. But the problem is there has to be some user input after each new VM is created. New-VM name -Template template -VMHost VMHost -Datastore Datastore What i would like to do is be able to import via CSV the name of the new vm, the template to use, the host to put the new vm and the datastore all from a CSV. I don't know if it is as easy as below, but i kept getting errors. Import-Csv "C:\powershell\Data\VM2Create.csv" | Foreach-object{ New-VM $.name -Template $.template -VMHost $.VMHost -Datastore $.Datastore} I know there some () or {} or possibly | that need... just don't know where to put them... The csv i think would look like this: name, template, vmhost, datastore Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated...
