    Hello! I've moved my vc7.1 project from WInXP to Win7. After rebuilding i got stackoverflow error in function _malloc_dbg when i start the program.     I read On most operating systems, the addresses in memory starts from highest to lowest. So I am wondering if the heap, stack, and global memory all fall under the same ordering..? If I created... pointerType* pointer = new pointerType //creates memory address 0xffffff And then created a local varible on the stack localObject object would localObjects address be 0xfffffe Or is heap and stack ordering completely different.

  • Stop sign icon in VS2005 Express solution explorer

    What does a small stop sign icon on a file in solution explorer mean? Someone asked the same question a year ago Original Question but the answer provided is of no help. The icon looks like this: Suffice to say that the sign is not one presented in the VS documentation and is a UK Stop sign (red circle with a white horizontal bar) not a US one. The project is WebKit and the build process cannot find AuthenticationCF.h even though the file is present. I presume the sign might shed some light on this. Thanks, Andy

  • VS2008 - 'Set as startup project' setting dissapearing.

    I have a solution with a bunch of projects in it. The 'startup' project is a ASP.NET MVC Web Application. I set as the startup project (by right clicking on it in Solution Explorer and selecting 'set as startup project'. The project title goes bold and everything works fine for a while. Then I will be editing one of the supporting projects, and come to click the 'Start Debugging' button, and bang - the 'project of this type cant be started' message. I then check, and the web project is no longer set as the startup project. And so on.... Anyone know why this is happening?

    Hi guys, I'm new to the wonderful world of .net development, and I'm currently using c# 3.0 and I'm wondering is there any good/free/open source tool to auto generate documentation for the project that I work on based on the /// summary comments like or whatever the in thing it is for vs2008. As I recall back in .net 1.1 we used to use that with a tool call ndoc, but I can't find much about ndoc and VS 2008 express.     i create my own dialog form with two buttons (ok, cancel) and checked list box. i want to get all selected strings in first form which shown second form. for that purpose i do function GetSelected which return CheckedIndices-GetEnumerator() of my list box. now i want to deselect all strings on pressed cancel button. And deselect all strings on close form by pressing X in corner of form. how to track click the X?

    I'm trying to do something which is very easy to do in the regular MSVC, but not supported easily in VC++ Express. There is no resource editor in VC++ Express. So I added a file named version.rc into my DLL project. The file has the below content, which is compiled by the resource compiler and added to the final DLL. This resource is viewable in the DLL using reshacker, though not when right-clicking the DLL in Windows Explorer. What is missing from my RC file to make it appear when right-clicking?     When a user clicks on the little red "x" a.k.a. the form close button on the form command bar, what even is activated besides FormClosed() I know FormClosing() is called, but I cannot really stop the form from closing after my code is run. I want to be able to show a messagebox that asks if the user wants to exit the form or not. Obviously if they click no, I want the form to stay open, how would I do this?

  • Is possible to generate constant value during compilation?

    I would like my classes to be identified each type by an unique hash code. But I don't want these hashed to be generated every time a method, eg. int GetHashCode(), is invoked during runtime. I'd like to use already generated constants and I was hoping there is a way to make the compiler do some come computing and set these constants. Can it be done using templates? Could you give me some example, if it is possible.

My IDE is not recognizing getline() so of course when I compile the application. I get an error 'getline': identifier not found Now take a look at this code #include "stdafx.h" #include<iostream> #include<conio.h> using namespace std; /* This is a template Project */ void MultiplicationTable(int x); int main() { int value = 0; printf("Please enter any number \n\n"); cin>>value; MultiplicationTable(value); getchar(); return 0; } When I execute this line of code the console window opens and immediately closes. I think I a missing something about cin. I do know that it delimits spaces but I don't know what else. what should I use for input to make my life easier.

  • VS2008 intellisense performance issue with large number of partial static classes

    My question is a follow-up to the issue posted here regarding the Intellisense performance issue when building a large solution in VS2008 that has many partial static classes. Since Microsoft does not seem to be addressing the issue for VS2008, I would like to know if there are other ways around the problem? Waiting for VS2010 is not an option at this time. The proposed solution in the previous post is not practical as some of the partial classes may be regenerated and this would be a maintenance headache.

    I've used a few F/OSS libraries in my commercial application. As per their licenses, I am obligated to include their source codes along with my VS2008 application. This is my first time making a "real" commercial application, and I would appreciate some advice on how best to go about including their source codes. I don't want to package them as zip files alongside my installed. I still want my installer to be a single file.

  • Using git (or some other VCS) at your company

    Some friends of mine and I were talking recently about version control, and how they were using VSS at their jobs, and were probably going to be moving off of that soon. One of them said that his company will likely be going with Team Foundation Server. Eventually, the conversation did get around to talking about some of the open source VCSes out there, including git and SVN. None of us really knew about any companies that use either of these internally, although we imagined that a number of them did so for SVN, but we weren't too sure about git. I brought up Google and Android using it, but my friend figured that's only for the public facing source code, and that they may use something different for internal projects. Apparently it's more than just SCM that makes TFS so intriguing: Microsoft Sales people and support (although my friend did point out somethings to his managers that he thought might be misleading on MS' part) Integration of things beyond SCM, including project management (I'm just finding out that there are geared towards the same things for git) Again, it's Microsoft, and the transition from VSS to TFS seems logical (or does it?) I'm not much of a fan of SVN, so I didn't really bring it up much, but I am curious about whether or not git is used at your company for internal projects. Have you thought about it, and decided against it? Any reason why?
