  • Windows 7 search for files with special characters in name.

    I have a rather large source code repository on my machine; it is not indexed by Windows Search. I am trying to find some oddly-named generated files of the form .#name.extension.version where name and extension are normal names and extensions and version is a numeric value (e.g. something like 1.186). On Windows XP I could find these files by searching for .#*; on Windows 7 that just returns every single file and directory. So my question is this: is it possible to find files named like that using the built-in Windows 7 search functionality? I did find this question which is very similar, but the answer doesn't work for me; it seems like any special character I put in the query is either ignored or treated as a wildcard, and as a result it matches every single file and directory. Is there perhaps some registry value I can set to make the search-by-filename feature work with special characters?

  • What domain names are served by a host?

    For a set of VPSes operated by my company, I'd like to get a list of domain names hosted by each. The list of names has grown in an ad-hoc way for a few years. Is there a simple way to query the Apache and/or Nginx configurations to see what domains the server answers to on port 80? It is safe to assume (a) that I have sudo on these systems, and (b) they aren't using wildcards, although a solution which acknowledged that a wildcard was in use would be useful too if it also provided a list of explicit domains.

  • Is there a single book that covers the breadth of computer science fundamentals? [closed]

    When I did my undergraduate studies in elecrical engineering, there was this book called "Basic Electricity" by Van Valkenburgh. If you read that book cover to cover, your fundamentals in electrical engineering would be bulletproof. I would recommend it all my juniors and I absolutely loved it. Is there such a book in the field of computer science? I am not so concerned about the algorithms. I am looking more into something that tells me how does everything work beneath the covers. TCPIP, memory management, DNS, routing, SSL, buffer, queuing etc.

  • My site will not process Credit Cards [closed]

    Authorized.net was processing my credit card purchases until the end of Feb. As of 3/1/2011 they no longer will process electronic cigarette transactions. Processing network told us we would have a seamless transition over to a processor called EPN. Now we can not process and credit card orders at all. I have been told it's an SSL concern (EPN says no) I have been told it's an issue between Authorized.net and EPN again I am told no. Might site worked and functioned fine until the "seamless" transition took place. Please help me out here. Thanks Dave

    I am setting up Subdomain based MU on my domain.Everything is hosted by me running on one CentOS/Webmin VPS. Will I be better off setting the MySQL user's domain as localhost, 127.0.0.1 or with a wildcard %.mydomain.com? Which is more secure? Is localhost === 127.0.0.1? If not what is the difference? Also, what is my domain from MySQL's or Wordpress' pov when I am connected by ssh terminal? How about When I connect by Webmin or Usermin? Does MySQL see me as Webmin or my Unix user?

  • How to avoid specifying full path in sudoers file?

    I am trying to add a NOPASSWD entry for sudotest.sh (or any script/binary that requires sudo) in my /etc/sudoers file (on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server), but in order to make it work, I must specify the full path. The following entry works just fine: %jenkins ALL=(ALL)NOPASSWD:/home/vts_share/test/sudotest.sh The problem is that the script might move to a different directory. This seems like a great chance to use the * wildcard in the path (i.e. /*/sudotest.sh) so that my script could be in any directory but the manual states that wildcards will not match the / character when used in a path. I've confirmed that it doesn't work. I know that I can use the word ALL in place of my script, but this means there is no password prompt for any commands which seems unsafe. How do I solve this?

    Possible Duplicate: What's the meaning of '@' in a DNS zone file? I know that DNS records starting with * are called Wildcard records. What is the name for DNS record starting with @ (the at symbol). This is a record for the root domain (e.g. just example.com, not www.example.com) I want to find out more, but searching for "@ record dns" in Google doesn't return any useful results. What is the correct terminology for this type of record, and where might I find it described in more detail? RFC 1035 describes the use of @ in a DNS record, but doesn't go as far as giving it a name.

    I'm trying to use Spring's Schema Based AOP Support in Eclipse and am getting errors when trying to load the configuration in Tomcat. When the client calls the service it'll be calling https myserver.com/myservices.svc but actually .svc will be in different servers like http web1.mysever.com/myservices.svc, http web2.mysever.com/myservices.svc, etc how do we handle this issue?

    Hi all, I am testing my web application's security and all of my pages are served over ssl. The issue I am having is the certificate is not trusted as firefox starts in a new profile each time. I was reading on OpenQA's site about a jar and importing the certificate, but that is only for Internet Explorer and Firefox should automatically be handled. Is there anything special I need to do in order for certificates to automatically be trusted? Thanks, Walter

  • Gateway Page Between ASP and an ASP.NET Page

    I'll admit, I am pretty new with ASP .NET programming and I have been asked to take all our gateway pages (written in classic ASP) and make one universal gateway page to the few C# .NET applications we have (that I wrote). I tried searching here and the web and couldn't find much of anything describing a great way to do this and figured I was either not searching properly or was not properly naming what I am trying to do. I decided to to take one of the main gateway pages we had in classic ASP and use that as a base for my new gateway. Without boring you with a bunch of code I will summarize my gateway in steps and then can take advice/critique from there. EDIT: Basically what I am trying to do is go from a classic ASP page to a ASP .NET page and then back again. EDIT2: If my question is still unclear I am asking if what I have an the right start and if anyone has suggestions as to how this could be better. It can be as generic as need-be, not looking for a specific off-the-shelf code answer. My Gateway page: In the first part of the page I grab session variables and determine if the user is leaving or returning through the gateway: Code (in VB): uid = Request.QueryString("GUID") If uid = "" Then direction = "Leaving" End If ' Gather available user information. userid = Session("lnglrnregid") bankid = Session("strBankid") ' Return location. floor = Request.QueryString("Floor") ' The option chosen will determine if the user continues as SSL or not.     Hey everyone! I'm using a Paypal add to cart button for a simple ecommerce website. I had a Paypal IPN handler written in PHP that was successfully working for 'Buy it Now' buttons and purchasing one item at a time. I would run a database query each time to update the store's inventory to reflect the purchase. Now I'm upgrading this store to a 'cart' version so people could check out with multiple items at a time. Would anyone be able to tell me, in general, how my IPN handler would need to be altered to accommodate this?     I just installed Dynamics CRM 4.0. It is working nicely except for workflows. They won't start. I turned on tracing and it appears that there is an IO error. The server is setup with IFD and SSL. No issues accessing it internally or externally. It was blank. That didn't appear to work. After some more research, I think this might be caused because the Asynch service can't access the SDK web services using SSL. If this is correct, how would one configure a CRM server for secure access, internal and external (IFD) and still allow asynch service to hit web site? Thanks for your help!

  • Static Map API that supports HTTPS requests and is free

    Any options out there? Google Static Maps with SSL (HTTPS) is only available to Premier members. Bing's Open Map API seems to have the same restricts. Any other ideas? I'm debating whether to schedule a cronjob to wget over http and dump the images I need into a folder (named after the content object IDs that reference them), but I'd rather find a free map API (or something less klugey) that supports HTTPS requests.
