• In Windows 7, clicking between file explorer windows does not generate window events. What's up?

  I have a custom made global hook installed and am monitoring for window messages when file explorer windows are clicked on. The funny thing is that they don't generate any window messages! I click between two file explorer windows and nothing. No VM_CREATE, no VM_ACTIVATE. Nothing. Why is this? Spy++ crashes on my machine so I can't use it but my hook is pretty good and should pick everything up. For some reason these windows just don't function like normal windows in that they don't generate the standard window messages when they become active. It seems windows 7 does not see them as normal windows? what's going on?

• IWebBrowser2: how to force links to open in new window?

  The MSDN documentation on WebBrowser Customization explains how to prevent new windows from being opened and how to cancel navigation. In my case, my application is hosting an IWebBrowser2 but I don't want the user to navigate to new pages within my app. Instead, I'd like to open all links in a new IE window. The desired behavior is: user clicks a link, and a new window opens with that URL. A similar question was asked and answered here and rather than pollute that answered post, it was suggested I open a new discussion. The members on the related post suggested I should be able to do this by trapping DISPID_BEFORENAVIGATE2, setting the cancel flag, and writing code to open a new window, but I've found out that the browser control gets lots of BeforeNavigate2 events that seem to be initiated by scripts on the main page. For example, amazon.com fires BeforeNavigate2 events like crazy, and they are not a result of link invocation. Replies appreciated!

  I need to write a gui in Tkinter that can choose a csv file, read it in and generate a sequence of buttons based on the names in the first row of the csv file (later the data in the csv file should be used to run a number of simulations). • How do I create multiple submit buttons for the same form in Rails?

  I need to have multiple submit buttons. I have a form which creates an instance of Contact_Call. One button creates it as normal. The other button creates it but needs to have a different :attribute value from the default, and it also needs to set the attribute on a different, but related model used in the controller. How do I do that? I can't change the route, so is there a way to send a different variable that gets picked up by [:params]? And if I do then, what do I do in the controller, set up a case statement?

  So, in facebook, I cannot call myFrame.window to get the iframe parent window. How can I do it? What I'm trying archieve is: I have a popup (div) that will load a iframe. And then in the iframe will have a button. Once people click the button inside the iframe, I want to close the popup(div). Normally, I need to get the parent window. Then I can destroy the popup div. But in facebook, how can I do it? any alternative way to do that? I don't want to refresh the page. :)

  Has anyone had any success attaching a rich:toggleControl component to a radio button component (h:selectOneRadio) or alternatively any of its children select items (in this case s:enumItem). Basic code example: <h:selectOneRadio value="#{backingValue}"> <s:enumItem enumValue="VAL_1" itemLabel="Value One" /> <s:enumItem enumValue="VAL_2" itemLabel="Value Two" /> <s:convertEnum /> </h:selectOneRadio> The ideal thing would be to attach the toggle control to the enumItems so I could have it switch to a particular state. However at this point I'd be happy if the toggle control can just be attached to the selectOneRadio. I've tried the toggle control as a child of the selectOneRadio and enumItems; neither works. I've also tried wrapping the toggleControl around the selectOneRadio, the toggle control works in this case but the radio buttons don't :(

  I've written an open-source c++ application and it works fine on Windows and Linux, I finally got a Mac Mini (with 10.5.8) so I've just been testing the Mac version. My application works fine when running it from inside a terminal window and typing ./appname , but if instead I double click on it from the finder, then it opens a termnial window first and then runs my app but it doesn't seem to set the working directory to the correct location so my app dies. How do I make my app so when it launches by being double clicked on it doesn't open a terminal window first and how can I have the current directory set to the apps location automatically?

• How to shutdown local tomcat server when closing browser window?

  Hi, I hava a web app running on a local tomcat server. When the user starts the app (via desktop shortcut) the server starts and the app is opened in a browser window. But when the user just clicks on the close button to stop the application the server is still running in the background - that's annoying. I tried to utilize the "unonload" and "onbeforeunload" events from javascript but unfortunately these events are also fired on some other requests in the app. So I can't use them, except I do a lot of refactoring. Does anyone have an idea for a possible solution? Btw, what I find interesting is the behaviour of Visual Studio when debugging a web application. When I close the browser window Visual Studio also gets a trigger to stop debug mode. So it seems it somehow notices the close event of the browser window, which would be exactly what I need.   I'm implementing a search service called SearchInsideOut. http://bit.ly/97SFyW This search service simply replaces web page results by full web pages (Yes, I used iframe). The problem I have to deal with is iframe-breaking pages. The promising solution I found is using onbeforeunload to let users decide whether to stay or leave my site. But this also creates another annoying behavior. When users click other links in my site, onbeforeunload will also be triggered. Fortunately, I could solve this case by placing window.onbeforeunload=null in the onclick event of those links of my site. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to detect external events like clicking "refresh/back" buttons. What should I do to solve this difficulty? All suggestions and comments are highly appreciated.

The first activity is a background image with a button,when clicked the it takes you to the second activity which is a form with 5 data fields and 2 buttons. One button calls an intent to take a picture within the app and one button that submits the data from the form along with the picture to URL. lastly a third activity that says complete thank you. I can make some of this but don't know how to link button or open and merge camera with the app to be sent as a package of data. • How can I get a Dialog style activity window to fill the screen?

  I am using an activity with the dialog theme set, and I want it to be full screen. I tried all sorts of things, even going through the WindowManager to expand the window to full width and height manually, but nothing works. Apparently, a dialog window (or an activity with the dialog theme) will only expand according to its contents, but even that doesn't always work. For instance, I show a progress bar circle which has width and height set to FILL_PARENT (so does its layout container), but still, the dialog wraps around the much smaller progress bar instead of filling the screen. There must be a way of displaying something small inside a dialog window but have it expand to full screen size without its content resizing as well?

  I am no SQL expert, far from it. I am writing a Rails application, and I am new at that as well. I come from a desktop programming background. My application has a table of data, one of the columns is the time at which the data was logged. I want to create a query with a 'safe window' around EACH row. By that I mean, it returns the first row, then for X minutes (based on the timelogged column) it won't return any data, once X minutes is up, it will return the next row. For example: ID | TimeLogged 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 2 | 3/5/2010 12:01:50 3 | 3/5/2010 12:02:03 4 | 3/5/2010 12:10:30 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 6 | 3/5/2010 01:31:05 With a 'safe window' of 5 minutes I want to create a query to return: 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 4 | 3/5/2010 12:10:30 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 (It skipped the 12:01:50 and 12:02:03 items because they occurred within 5 minutes of the first item.) Another example, with a 'safe window' of 15 minutes I want to return: 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 Perhaps I have to just return all data and parse it myself?

  I'm working on a Rails application where I have some a set of two radio buttons where users can click "yes" or "no". The MySQL DB column created by the ActiveRecord migration is a tinyint. If the user doesn't click either radio button I want MySQL to store NULL. (The column allows NULL.) And when they come back to edit the data, neither button should be checked. What's happening is that ActiveRecord is storing 0 and then when I come back the "No" button is checked. Rails 2.3.5 Form code (I'm using Haml): = f.radio_button( :model_attribute, true ) Yes = f.radio_button( :model_attribute, false ) No (In retrospect it probably would have been better to use a single checkbox, but it would be difficult to change that now.)

  I have a design going on where I want to align the bottom of an intro paragraph with the bottom of the window, yet make it scroll with the rest of the page. So when the page opens, the visitor sees only the first paragraph (and a full screen background image, which is what I want to focus their attention on), but as they scroll they see the paragraph and the rest of the text. The height of the intro element can vary. Right now I think I have to introduce some javascript to do this - meassure the height of the window, the height of the paragraph, and adjust top: or margin-top of the paragraph to the difference between the two values. If there is a way to make a div have a height that corresponds exactly to the window height, and position the paragraph absolutely inside of this div, the let the rest of the text sit outside of the div, it could work... but I can't seem to make that happen with css. Any suggestions?
