  • Why cant i add Orientation property to the style setter in WPF

    - by nihi_l_ist
When i write something like this: <Style x:Key="panelS"> <Setter Property="Orientation" Value="Horizontal" /> <Setter Property="DockPanel.Dock" Value="Top" /> </Style> I get the error that says: Cannot resolve the Style Property 'Orientation'. Verify that the owning type is the Style's TargetType, or use Class.Property syntax to specify the Property. Sure i have a Dock panel with many Stackpanels in it so i want to move Stackpanel's properties to the style. But there is this error and i dont quite understand what it means and what is the workaround(..i'd wanted not to assign Orientation on every Stackpanel).

    - by sanjeev40084
I have two xaml file one is MainWindow.xaml and other is userControl EditTaskView.xaml. In MainWindow.xaml it consists of listbox and when double clicked any item of listbox, it displays edit window (EditView userControl). • Why won't my WPF XAML Grid TranslateTransform.X ?

    - by George
    I'm able to change the width/height of the grid using this, so why won't it work when I use (Grid.RenderTransform).TranslateTransform.X as such: <Window.Triggers> <EventTrigger RoutedEvent="Button.Click" SourceName="button"> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard> <DoubleAnimation Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Grid.RenderTransform).(TranslateTransform.X)" From="0" To="200" Storyboard.TargetName="grid" Duration="0:0:2" /> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </EventTrigger> </Window.Triggers> The application loads etc, but nothing happens when the button is clicked. Here is the XAML for my grid: <Grid x:Name="grid" Height="714" Canvas.Left="240" Canvas.Top="8" Width="360" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5"> <Grid.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="Black" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </Grid.Background> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="0*"/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> </Grid> Note that I've tried many different Canvas.Left values, to no avail.

  • WPF EDitable ComboBox

    - by Amittai Shapira
Hi! I want to create editable combo box with the following properties: 1. Bind the text property to my data model. 2. The data model may override the changes in the GUI, even in Selection changed. E.g. I can choose from 1, 2, 3 I choose 2, but some component down under changes it to 3. 3. Update the data model on the following events: 1. Selection Changed 2. Lose focus 3. Enter pressed (should behave the same as lost focus). I've been able to create such control, but it's pretty ugly (using many hacks) and I hoped there's a simpler way… Thanks in advance

  • WPF / Silverlight - Mapping API

    - by Travis
I am about to start on a project where I need to display maps with cross streets and possibly directions. I know there are a lot of API for the web, but I was wondering what the best solution is for a desktop application. I know of Bing Maps and I believe there are some Google Maps solutions out there as well. Any help or information on good mapping API's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • WPF - Dynamically access a specific item of a collection in XAML

    - by Andy T
Hi, I have a data source ('SampleAppearanceDefinitions'), which holds a single collection ('Definitions'). Each item in the collection has several properties, including Color, which is what I'm interested in here. I want, in XAML, to display the Color of a particular item in the collection as text. I can do this just fine using this code below... Text="{Binding Source={StaticResource SampleAppearanceDefinitions}, Path=Definitions[0].Color}" The only problem is, this requires me to hard-code the index of the item in the Definitions collection (I've used 0 in the example above). What I want to do in fact is to get that value from a property in my current DataContext ('AppearanceID'). One might imagine the correct code to look like this.... Text="{Binding Source={StaticResource SampleAppearanceDefinitions}, Path=Definitions[{Binding AppearanceID}].Color}" ...but of course, this is wrong. Can anyone tell me what the correct way to do this is? Is it possible in XAML only? It feels like it ought to be, but I can't work out or find how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! AT

  • WPF: Binding to ListBoxItem.IsSelected doesn't work for off-screen items

    - by Qwertie
In my program I have a set of view-model objects to represent items in a ListBox (multi-select is allowed). The viewmodel has an IsSelected property that I would like to bind to the ListBox so that selection state is managed in the viewmodel rather than in the listbox itself. However, apparently the ListBox doesn't maintain bindings for most of the off-screen items, so in general the IsSelected property is not synchronized correctly. Here is some code that demonstrates the problem. First XAML: <StackPanel> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock>Number of selected items: </TextBlock> <TextBlock Text="{Binding NumItemsSelected}"/> </StackPanel> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Items}" Height="200" SelectionMode="Extended"> <ListBox.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="IsSelected" Value="{Binding IsSelected}"/> </Style> </ListBox.ItemContainerStyle> </ListBox> <Button Name="TestSelectAll" Click="TestSelectAll_Click">Select all</Button> </StackPanel> C# Select All handler: private void TestSelectAll_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { foreach (var item in _dataContext.Items) item.IsSelected = true; } C# viewmodel: public class TestItem : NPCHelper { TestDataContext _c; string _text; public TestItem(TestDataContext c, string text) { _c = c; _text = text; } public override string ToString() { return _text; } bool _isSelected; public bool IsSelected { get { return _isSelected; } set { _isSelected = value; FirePropertyChanged("IsSelected"); _c.FirePropertyChanged("NumItemsSelected"); } } } public class TestDataContext : NPCHelper { public TestDataContext() { for (int i = 0; i < 200; i++) _items.Add(new TestItem(this, i.ToString())); } ObservableCollection<TestItem> _items = new ObservableCollection<TestItem>(); public ObservableCollection<TestItem> Items { get { return _items; } } public int NumItemsSelected { get { return _items.Where(it => it.IsSelected).Count(); } } } public class NPCHelper : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void FirePropertyChanged(string prop) { if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(prop)); } } Two separate problems can be observed. If you click the first item and then press Shift+End, all 200 items should be selected; however, the heading reports that only 21 items are selected. If you click "Select all" then all items are indeed selected. If you then click an item in the ListBox you would expect the other 199 items to be deselected, but this does not happen. Instead, only the items that are on the screen (and a few others) are deselected. All 199 items will not be deselected unless you first scroll through the list from beginning to end (and even then, oddly enough, it doesn't work if you perform scrolling with the little scroll box). My questions are: Can someone explain precisely why this occurs? Can I avoid or work around the problem?

  • Cannont Update control in WPF custom control

    - by Fazi
I have created a custom control which holds a button in it. The button is styled, so as to hold a grid with two rows, an image in the first and a TextBlock in the second. I have written an Event Handler for the custom control. When the mouse enters the path of the object the MouseEnter event fires, where I try to change the TextBlock's FontSize and Foreground color, however the control does not update. In contrast, I have tried to modify an regular TextBlock's(not part a custom control and controltemplate) properties, and they update correctly, on the fly. What am I missing here?? Here is the code for the event handler: private void ThemeButton_MouseEnter(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { InitializeProperties(); TextElement.FontSize = 16; TextElement.Text = "new text"; TextElement.Foreground = Brushes.Red; TextBlock element = MainWindow.FindChild<TextBlock>(MainWindow.StartWindow, "textField"); element.Text = "new text for regular textblock"; element.Foreground = Brushes.Red; } InitializeProperties is a methid that initializes TextElement(typeof TextBlock) and ImageElement(typeof Image) properties. They are not null. The properties are just regular .NET properties.

How can I remove it? I want to achieve something similar to enso launcher, it looks like My implementation looks like this here is my xaml code: <Window x:Class="winmole.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" x:Name="hostWindow" Height="Auto" MinHeight="100" MinWidth="100" Width="Auto" Padding="10" AllowsTransparency="True" WindowStyle="None" Background="Transparent" Top="0" Left="0" SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight" Topmost="True" Loaded="Window_Loaded" KeyUp="Window_KeyUp" > <Window.Resources> <!--Simple data template for Items--> <DataTemplate x:Key="itemsTemplate"> <Border Background="Black" Opacity="0.9" HorizontalAlignment="Left" CornerRadius="0,2,2,0"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Title}" TextWrapping="Wrap" FontFamily="Georgia" FontSize="30" Height="Auto" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" TextAlignment="Left" Padding="5" Margin="0" Foreground="Yellow"/> </Border> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <DockPanel> <ItemsControl DockPanel.Dock="Bottom" Name="itcPrompt" ItemsSource="{Binding ElementName=hostWindow, Path=DataItems}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource itemsTemplate}" > <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <WrapPanel Orientation="Vertical" /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> </DockPanel>

  • wpf treeview does not show child objects

    - by gangt
    I have an object with child object(s) and I load it using linq. And I assign it to a treeView's itemssource. treeView.DisplayMemberPath = "Name"; treeView.ItemsSource = tasks; It shows only the parent nodes (task.name), I couldn't figure out how to add children (TaskItems.name). All the examples show HierarchicalData in xaml. I need to do it in code-behind, just like the above code. Is it possible? public class Task { public int Id; public string Name; public bool IsActive; public List<TaskItem> TaskItems = new List<TaskItem>(); } public class TaskItem { public int TaskId; public string Name; public string Value; } -------------- var tasks1 = from t in xd.Descendants("taskheader") select new Task { Id = (int)t.Element("id"), Name = t.Element("name").Value, IsActive = t.Element("isactive").Value == "1", TaskItems = t.Elements("taskdetail").Select(e => new TaskItem { TaskId = (int)e.Element("taskid"), Name = (string)e.Element("name"), Value = (string)e.Element("value"), }).ToList() }; -------------- List<Task> tasks = new List<Task>(); tasks = tasks1;

  • WPF DataGrid populating blank rows on TreeView's SelectedItemChanged

    - by jes9582
When my DataGrid populates on the TreeView's SelectedItemChanged event it finds the objects and creates the rows accordingly but the rows populate with no text or are just blank. So I know it is finding my objects but it is not displaying them properly. Does anyone see where I made an error or suggest any changes or fixes? Thank you in advance! Here is the CSharp code that is setting the DataGrid's ItemsSource (I am using .dbml and LINQ with Lambda expressions): dgSystemSettings.ItemsSource = (tvSystemConfiguration.SelectedItem as SYSTEM_SETTINGS_GROUP).SYSTEM_SETTINGS_NAMEs.Join(ssdc.SYSTEM_SETTINGS_VALUEs, x => x.SSN_ID, y => y.SSV_SSN_ID, (x, y) => new { SYSTEM_SETTINGS_NAME = x, SYSTEM_SETTINGS_VALUE = y }); And here is the .xaml: <DataGrid Name="dgSystemSettings" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Height="447" Width="513" DockPanel.Dock="Right" ItemsSource="{Binding}" VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="10,10,0,0"> <DataGrid.Columns> <DataGridTextColumn x:Name="colDisplayName" Header="Name" Binding="{Binding SSN_DISPLAY_NAME}"></DataGridTextColumn> <DataGridTextColumn x:Name="colValue" Header="Value" Binding="{Binding SSV_VALUE}"></DataGridTextColumn> </DataGrid.Columns> </DataGrid>

  • Examples of fast .NET WPF/WinForms apps?

    - by mythz
I am currently investigating whether to build a windows application using unmanaged C/C++ or in .NET and would like to know of the kind of performance and responsiveness that is capable with a managed C#/.NET GUI app? Not surprisingly it looks like the fastest most responsive applications (e.g. chrome, spotify, etc) are written in unmanaged C/C++. I've had a hard time finding examples of really good .NET applications and so I would like some help. What's the best example of a fast and responsive .NET windows application?

  • Binding Bitmapimge to Image in Wpf?

    - by Rev
This is a simple Question (lets see) I want to bind bitmap image to Image. For doing this in cs code u must write this line. this.leftImage.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(@"C:\a.bmp")); But I want make Binding from resources. Because In release time resources became part of project.exe file and if you make binding from file(Mean set Image.source with Image file address), you must always put image file in the same address(disaster programing) :)

  • WPF: Cannot set properties on property elements weirdness...

    - by Willy
private TextBlock _caption = new TextBlock(); public TextBlock Caption { get { return _caption; } set { _caption = value; } } <l:CustomPanel> <l:CustomPanel.Caption Text="Caption text" FontSize="18" Foreground="White" /> </l:CustomPanel> Gives me the following error: Cannot set properties on property elements. If I use: <l:CustomPanel> <l:CustomPanel.Caption> <TextBlock Text="Caption text" FontSize="18" Foreground="White" /> </l:CustomPanel.Caption> </l:CustomPanel> My TextBlock shows up fine but it's nested inside another TextBlock like so, it even seems to add itself outside of the Caption property: <l:CustomPanel> <l:CustomPanel.Caption> <TextBlock> <InlineUIContainer> <TextBlock Text="Caption text" FontSize="18" Foreground="White" /> </InlineUIContainer> </TextBlock> </l:CustomPanel.Caption> <TextBlock> <InlineUIContainer> <TextBlock Text="Caption text" FontSize="18" Foreground="White" /> </InlineUIContainer> </TextBlock> </l:CustomPanel> As you might have already guessed, what i'd like my code to do is to set my Caption property from XAML on a custom panel, if this is possible. I've also tried the same code with a DependencyProperty to no avail. So, anyone that can help me with this problem?

  • Setting a property in XAML for a User Control

    - by Ben
Hi, I have a user control that has a property of type Integer, that i am trying to set in the XAML Template to be that of a property within the bindingsource. If I set the property using a hard coded integer i.e. <MyControl MyIntegerProperty="3" /> This works fine, but if i try <MyControl MyIntegerProperty="{Binding MyDataContextIntegerProperty}" /> it fails. I know that the integer property on MyDataContext is returning a valid integer, and i know that this format works, as directly above this in the template, i have the line <TextBlock Text="{Binding MyDataContextStringProperty}" /> which works correctly. Is there any flag that i need to set on my User Controls Integer property to allow this to work? Or am i doing something else wrong? Thanks

  • Event consumption in WPF

    - by webaloman
I have a very simple app written in Silverlight for Windows Phone, where I try to use events. In my App.xaml.cs code behind I have implemented a GeoCoordinateWatcher which registers a gCWatche_PositionChanged method. This works ok, method is called after the position has been changed. What I want to do is fire an other event lets say DBUpdatedEvent after DB has been updated in the gCWatche_PositionChanged method. For this i delclared in the App.xaml.cs public delegate void DBUpdateEventHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); and I have in my App class: public event DBUpdateEventHandler DBUpdated; the event is fired like this in the end of gCWatche_PositionChanged method like this: OnDBUpdateEvent(new EventArgs()); and also I have declared : protected virtual void OnDBUpdateEvent(EventArgs e) { if (DBUpdated != null) { DBUpdated(this, e); } } Now I need to consume this event in my other Windows Phone app page which is a separate class PhoneApplicationPage. So I declared this method in this other Phone Page: public void DBHasBeenUpdated(object sender, EventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("DB UPDATE EVENT CATCHED"); } And in the constructor of this page I declared: DBUpdateEventHandler dbEH = new DBUpdateEventHandler(DBHasBeenUpdated); But when I test the application event is fired (OnDBUpdateEvent is called, but DBUpdated is null, therefore DBUpdated is not called - strange) and I have a problem that the other Phone Page is not catching the event at all... Any suggestions? How to catch that event. Thanks.
