• Rolemanager not working when ASPDotNetStorefront served in a virtual folder with FormsAuthentication

  Does anyone know if there is a valid roleManager I can apply to ASPDotNetStorefront to get the site working? We have a website that has an ASP.Net storefront served in a virtual folder off the root. ourwebsite.com ourwebsite.com/shop Everything has been workign fine until we put the groundwork in place for forms authentication in the website recently. This caused an error on the production server when you tried to get into the shop... Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.Security.RolePrincipal' to type 'AspDotNetStorefrontCore.AspDotNetStorefrontPrincipal'. Looking at the shop's web.config I noticed there was no RoleManager node, so I tried to fix the problem by removing it in the shop's web.config <roleManager enabled="false"> </roleManager> This prevented the error occurring, but also prevented the shopping basket from working. Instead I removed the rolemanager tag from the root website... <!-- Conflicting with AspDotNetStorefront <roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="CustomizedRoleProvider"> <providers> <add name="CustomizedRoleProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlRoleProvider" connectionStringName="constr" /> </providers> </roleManager> --> This worked, but obviously prevents role authentication working on the root website, which is okay for the next 2 or 3 releases. Anyone know the correct code for the rolemanager in DotNetStorefront?

• Call OpenFileDialog Silverlight from JavaScript

  I'm trying to call a function in a Silverlight 4 component to open a file dialog and upload a file to the server. Everything works well within Silverlight but I'd like to call the component from JavaScript. So I call the button click handler from a C#-function which is [ScriptableMember]. I get the following error when calling the function: System.Security.SecurityException: Dialogs must be user-initiated. at System.Windows.Browser.ManagedObjectInfo.Invoke(ManagedObject obj, InvokeType invokeType, String memberName, ScriptParam[] args) at System.Windows.Hosting.ManagedHost.InvokeScriptableMember(IntPtr pHandle, Int32 nMemberID, Int32 nInvokeType, Int32 nArgCount, ScriptParam[] pArgs, ScriptParam& pResult, ExceptionInfo& pExcepInfo) I based my code on the tutorial by Tim Heuer that can be found here: http://www.silverlight.net/learn/videos/silverlight-videos/openfiledialog-and-file-upload/ I understand why the error is thrown, sort of, the 'click' from the user is done in JavaScript and probably is not going through to Silverlight. For Silverlight this is merely a function call. Is this new policy from Silverlight 4? Is it still possible to only use Silverlight behind to screens to upload a file? Any help is appreciated.

  Hi I've been playing around with clojure and have been using it to build a simple little audio player. I just don't see why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

• Spring Test / JUnit problem - unable to load application context

  I am using Spring for the first time and must be doing something wrong. I have a project with several Bean implementations and now I am trying to create a test class with Spring Test and JUnit. I am trying to use Spring Test to inject a customized bean into the test class. Here is my test-applicationContext.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <beans xmlns="............."> <bean id="MyUuidFactory" class="com.myapp.UuidFactory" scope="singleton" > <property name="typeIdentifier" value="CLS" /> </bean> <bean id="ThingyImplTest" class="com.myapp.ThingyImplTest" scope="singleton"> <property name="uuidFactory"> <idref local="MyUuidFactory" /> </property> </bean> </beans> The injection of MyUuidFactory instance goes along with the following code from within the test class: private UuidFactory uuidFactory; public void setUuidFactory(UuidFactory uuidFactory) { this.uuidFactory = uuidFactory; } However, when I go to run the test (in Eclipse or command line) I get the following error (stack trace omitted for brevity): Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'MyImplTest' defined in class path resource [test-applicationContext.xml]: Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.ConversionNotSupportedException: Failed to convert property value of type 'java.lang.String' to required type 'com.myapp.UuidFactory' for property 'uuidFactory'; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot convert value of type [java.lang.String] to required type [com.myapp.UuidFactory] for property 'uuidFactory': no matching editors or conversion strategy found Funny thing is, the Eclipse/Spring XML editor shows errors of I misspell any of the types or idrefs.   I am very confused the View and corresponding controller has to be set in MVC 1.0 project structure. Currently in a default application we have About.aspx page under Home folder and all the controller action is handled in HomeController. This controller mixes up Home action and About action. It makes things messy. I like to have clear separation of my controller. Like to have one About Controller and HomeCotroller separately. For it I have create another folder "About" under view folder and place Aboput.aspx in it , otherwise we will get the error below. How can I achieve it ?? I like to have exact folder structure as in View, same as in Cotroller. The view 'About' or its master could not be found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/About/About.aspx ~/Views/About/About.ascx ~/Views/Shared/About.aspx ~/Views/Shared/About.ascx Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request.   As the title says, I am getting: Invalid length for a Base-64 char array. I have read about this problem on here and it seems that the suggestion is to store ViewState in SQL if it is large. I am using a wizard with a good deal of data collection so chances are my ViewSate is large. But, before I turn to the "store-in-DB" solution, maybe somebody can take a look and tell me if I have other options?   I have a WCF service which can run as Console App and a Windows Service. I have exactly the same code, but running in a windows service and I get the following error when I try to call any of the methods from a client: System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException was unhandled Message="An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail." Source="mscorlib" StackTrace: Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SecurityChannelFactory`1.SecurityRequestChannel.ProcessReply(Message reply, SecurityProtocolCorrelationState correlationState, TimeSpan timeout) ...... (lots of stacktrace info - not very useful) InnerException: System.ServiceModel.FaultException Message="An error occurred when verifying security for the message." The exception tells me nothing. I'm assuming that it has something to do with acces to system resources from the Windows Service. I've tried running it under the same account as the console app, but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Explicit casting doesn't work in default model binding

  I am using ASP.NET MVC2 and Entity Framework. I am going to simplify the situation a little; hopefully it will make it clearer, not more confusing! I have a controller action to create address, and the country is a lookup table (in other words, there is a one-to-many relationship between Country and Address classes). Let's say for clarity that the field in the Address class is called Address.Land. And, for the purposes of the dropdown list, I am getting Country.CountryID and Country.Name. I am aware of Model vs. Input validation. So, if I call the dropdown field formLand - I can make it work. But if I call the field Land (that is, matching the variable in Address class) - I am getting the following error: "The parameter conversion from type 'System.String' to type 'App.Country' failed because no type converter can convert between these types." OK, this makes sense. A string (CountryID) comes from the form and the binder doesn't know how to convert it to Country type. So, I wrote the converter: namespace App { public partial class Country { public static explicit operator Country(string countryID) { AppEntities context = new AppEntities(); Country country = (Country) context.GetObjectByKey( new EntityKey("AppEntities.Countries", "CountryID", countryID)); return country; } } } FWIW, I tried both explicit and implicit. I tested it from the controller - Country c = (Country)"fr" - and it works fine. However, it never got invoked when the View is posted. I am getting the same "no type converter" error in the model. Any ideas how to hint to the model binder that there is a type converter? Thanks

• Intellij Javafx artifact - how do you make it?

  I've been trying all day to turn my javafx application into a jar file. I'm using Java 1.7 update 7. Oracle has some information, but it just seems scattered all over the place. Intellij is almost doing the job, but I get the following error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javafx/application/Application Which seems to say that I need to tell java where the jfxrt.jar is... If I add this jar to my classpath info for the manifest build in intellij - ctrl+shift+alt+s - Artifacts - Output Layout tab - Class Path, then I get another error: Could not find or load main class com.downloadpinterest.code.Main It seems strange to have to include jfxrt.jar in my class path though... I've tried to create an ant script as well, but I feel like IntelliJ is 90% of the way there - and I just need a bit of help to figure out why I need to include jfxrt.jar, and why my Main class isn't being found (I'm guessing I need to add it to the classpath somehow?). Could anyone clue me up as to what is happening? I had a basic gui before which worked fine, but JavaFX seems to be making life complicated!

Things turn for the worse when I do the same from jsp. The database has read/write permissions and when I remove the login requirement on an admin page that updates the database work as expected. Has anyone else had this issue or know what the problem is? Anyone? Server Error in '/' Application. • MATLAB Builder NE crash apppool on IIS 7.5

  Im developing a web user interface for MATLAB functions with ASP.NET. Ive started with studying demos and stucked with such problem. I created a MyComponent.dll assembly with deploytool from MATLAB 2010a, target framework - 3.5. I added references to MWArray.dll, WebFiguresService.dll and MyComponent.dll. There is an entry in System Event Log "A process serving application pool 'Classic .NET AppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '3676'. The data field contains the error number 6D000780". This happens when MyComponent is instantiating. What I could forget when moved to IIS? Other examples, like magic square console application, runs perfect, and every matlab component instantiating, but not in IIS environment.

  I have an MS SQL function that is called with the following syntax: SELECT Field1, COUNT(*) AS RecordCount FROM GetDecileTable('WHERE ClientID = 7 AND LocationName = ''Default'' ', 10) The first parameter passes a specific WHERE clause that is used by the function for one of the internal queries. • ProgressDialog not working in external AsyncTask

  I'm beginning to think that to get a ProgressDialog to work the AsyncTask has to be an inner class within an Activity class. True? I have an activity the uses a database to manipulate information. If the database is populated all is well. If it is not populated then I need to download information from a website, populate the database, then access the populated database to complete the Views in onCreate. Problem is without some means to determine when the AsyncTask thread has finished populating the database, I get the following Force Close error message: Sorry! The application has stopped unexpectedly. I click on the Force Close button, the background AsyncTask thread continues to work, the database gets populated, and everything works ok. I need to get rid of that error message and need some help on how to do this. • Problem Rendering SIFR with revision 436 on IE6 and IE7

  Hi, I seem to have a problem with SIFR3. I'm using version 436 and from all my testing it appears to be a problem associated with IE6 and IE7 as I cannot replicate the issue in Firefox, Chrome, Safari for Windows, or even IE8. The problem is occurring on my company's website and can be seen here: http://www.wyldeia.co.uk/blog.php When you first go to the page in IE6 or IE7 it appears to render fine. However if you click away onto another page and then click the back button in the browser, all of the text is replaced by an error saying "Rendered with sIFR3 revision 436". If you refresh the page, then the problem goes away, that is until you browse away and come back again. I've tried this on two separate machines both running IE7.0.6000.16809, and a further separate machine running IE6 which I then upgraded to IE8. I thought initially it might be Flash player related but on upgrading from version 9 to 10 of the flash player the problem remains. Further digging around indicated that the error can be caused by having a corrupted flash font file, or having one present that was generated with a previous revision of SIFR3. However I have exported the flash font file using the supplied fla with revision 436 but the problem remains. Usually I like to track the answer down myself but as it is I'm at a bit of a loss on this one so if anyone has any ideas what might be happening here then I would be very grateful! Regards, Mark

• Having trouble with instantiating objects in PHP & Ajax custom shopping cart

  This is my first time playing with both ajax and objects, so please go easy on me I have 3 pages that make up the tester shopping cart. 1) page with 'add' 'remove' buttons and ajax code to call the PHP functions on page 2. this is the actual user page with the HTML output. 2) page with PHP cart function calls, receives $_GET requests from ajax on page 1 and calls functions of the cart object from page 3, returns results to page 1. 3) page with cart object definition. Here's the problem I believe I'm having. Currently I have 'session_start()' on pgs 1 & 2, and the cart definition (pag 3) on pgs 1 & 2. I only define '$_SESSION[cart]= new Cart' on page 2. However, it seems like each time i hit an ajax function (eg each time pg 2 reloads) it seems like it's rewriting $_SESSION['cart'] over again, thus it's always empty at each new click (even tho it displays results of that click) However, if i don't define '$_SESSION[cart] = new Cart' on pg 2, i get an error: Fatal error: main() [function.main]: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition "Cart" of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded before unserialize() gets called or provide a __autoload() function to load the class definition in /home3/foundloc/public_html/booka/carti.php on line 17 Any suggestions? How can i stop re-creating my cart each time my page 2 (php cart function page) is called by ajax?

• Export to Excel from ASP.NET produces files unreadable with Excel Viewer

  Hi, I want to output some dynamic data from an ASP.NET website to Excel. I found that the easiest way which does not require to use Excel XML or to install Excel on server machine is to output data as a table and specify application/vnd.ms-excel type. The problem is when I do so and try to open the file in Excel Viewer, I receive the following error message: Microsoft Excel Viewer cannot open files of this type. Then nothing is opened. • C# - foreach showing strange behavior / for working with no problem

  Hi there. Today I coded a function that uses two nested foreach loops. After seeing, that it did not work like expected, i debugged it. But I dont see an error, and dont think a simple error can cause the behavior i have noticed. The part looks like this: foreach(MyClass cItem in checkedListBoxItemList.Items) { foreach(MyClass cActiveItem in ActiveItemList) { if (cActiveItem.ID == cItem.ID) /*...check checkbox for item...*/; } } Lets say, checkedListBoxItemList.items holds 4 items of type MyClass, and ActiveItemList is a List< MyClass with 2 Items. The debugger jumps into the outer foreach, reaches inner foreach, executes the if 2 times (once per cActiveItem) and reaches the end of the outer foreach.Now, the debugger jumps back to the head of the outer foreach as it should. But instead of starting the second round of the outer foreach, the debugger suddenly jumps into the MyClass.ToString() method. I can step through this method 4 times (number of items in checkedListBoxItemList.Items) and then ... nothing. Visual Studio shows me my windows form, and the foreach is not continued. When changing the code to int ListCount = checkedListBoxItemList.Items.Count; for(int i=0; i<ListCount; i++) { MyClass cItem = checkedListBoxItemList.Items[i] as MyClass; foreach(MyClass cActiveItem in ActiveItemList) { if (cActiveItem.ID == cItem.ID) /*...check checkbox for item...*/; } } everything works fine and as supposed. I showed the problem to a collegue, but he also didnt understand, what happened. I dont understand why the debugger jumps into the MyClass.ToString() method. I used F10 to step through, so no need to leave the function. And even, if there is a reason, why isnt the foreach loop continued? Im using Visual Studio 2010, if this is of any matter. Please tell me what happened. Thanks.
