  • How to handle encrypted column in SQL Server Database in LINQ to SQL?

    Hi Guys, We are in the process of encrypting all the SSN columns (had to do it now due to security audit). We already built the DBML and now we have to change it. Can you guys let me know if there is a good way of handling this in LINQ to SQL? We use stored procedures for Insert, Update and Delete but use LINQ to SQL for all our selects (ease of use). Do I have to change the format for those tables with SSN or Is there any other manner we can handle it in LINQ to SQL? Thanks, Raja

  • Quick question on session security.

    Hey guys, I was scanning my site for security and I noticed that it was possible for non users to send requests and post information, so I decided to put login checks on all information posts. I was wondering if it was a good way to keep a session id that is created by md5(uniqid()); in a session variable $_SESSION['id']=md5(uniqid()); for each user and then store that in a database under active users for that user. Then when a user tries to insert information, verify that their $_SESSION['id'] variable is equal to the one in the database where the username equals their $_SESSION['username']. What are your ideas on this guys? Thanks in advance!

  • Django and ImageField Question

    Hello I have a such model: Foo (models.Model): slug = models.SlugField(unique=True) image = models.ImageField(upload_to='uploads/') I want to do two things with this: First of all, I want my image to be forced to resize to a specific width and height after the upload. I have tried this reading the documentation but seems to getting error: image = models.ImageField(upload_to='uploads/', height_field=258, width_field=425) Secondly, when adding an item via admin panel, I want my image's file name to be renamed as same as slug, if any issue arises (like if such named image already exists, add "_" to the end as it used to do. IE: My slug is i-love-you-guys , uploaded image such have i-love-you-guys.png at the end.

  • Is there a different between boost iostream mapped file and boost interprocess mapped file?

    hey guys, want to create a mapped binary file into memory, however I not sure how to create the file to mapped into the system. I read documentation several times and realize there is 2 mapped file, one in iostream and the other in interprocess. Do you guys have any idea on how to create a mapped file into shared memory. I trying to allow multi thread program to read an array of large double written in a binary file format. Also what is the different between the mapped file in iostream and interprocess?

  • open webim ( Mibew Messenger ) time out, reconnecting

    hi, i hope you guys know about webim a.k.a mibew messenger. I know only java, jsp and no idea about php except for some basics. Anyways, i ran this app in my apache2.2 local server. Everything works superb! But if i change my db to a virtual machine and give its address in the config.php (previously i had used localhost), in the visitors page, i get timeout, reconnecting. Login has no prob, so my guess is db connection is fine. I even changed the default page refresh time from 2 to 10. Nothing happens. Still same thing. You guys have any idea?

    Hi guys, need your help regarding infopath error. i have atleast 130 fields in the form. and in that 130 fields i have 7 repeating tables. when i tried to save/submit the form this error pops out: Critical Error This session has exceeded the amount of allowable resource.   • Installing fonts

    I have "white nights" trying to install Hebrew/Arabic fonts on my level 7 (API 2.1) aka Nexus emulator. I can't understand why Google guys will want to waist my skills do something helpful for the community using Hebrew/Arabic fonts. After rw mount/remount I can do it for level 3 devices, but for Nexus - nada! Why? What can be done? Real devices guys already broke this peace of hardware, but I am sitting and looking wide eyes open like a sheep. Please make me happy and give the chance to install the fonts. That's what must be done for some of us: We need system image saved on exit for tomorrow to continue the work Open emulator to work in peace cp command included with the SDK. Thanks for any help

    Hi Guys, I have a Django view called change_priority. I'm posting a request to this view with a commas separated list of values which is basically the order of the items in my model. The data looks like this: 1,4,11,31,2,4,7 I have a model called Items which has two values - id and priority. Upon getting this post request, how can I set the priority of the Item depending upon the list order. So my data in the db would look like. 1,1 4,2 11,3 31,4 2,5 4,6 7,7 Thanks guys.

I know many of you guys on this site are GIT gurus - so I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help us (and I am sure 100s of other Windows Devs who want to use GIT) write a "Setup GIT Server" guide for windows using Msysgit ? There is a comment on the guide above suggesting it cant be done with Msysgit because gitosis requires the use of an SSH Server and Bash ? We have a set of tables and views that merely store some config data for embedded devices. this schema is change-prone and do not really required lots of logic, beyond some validation rules. so we considered using a RAD tool for maintaining these CRUDS. In first stage: Dynamic Data But the community size, books absence and the last modification dates of the MSDN articles (~July 2008) makes me want to hear your experiences. (actually DynamicData comes as a part of the ASP.Net MVC2 project) What has been your experience with Dynamic Data? And... What is your favorite ASP.Net RAD alternative? Why? I've always seen people mentioning we should fill bugs and duplicates is their way of measuring priority, but it's not clear to me: How to actually fill the bug; How to flag someone else's bug as a duplicate, and; What do I need to tell people I've filled that bug and they should help me get it fixed by posting duplicates, if they're interested. I couldn't find this process detailed anywhere - just snippets of information, so I figure you guys could help me (and all other developers fresh in Cocoa / Cocoa-touch development) by detailing it here.
