  • Question about factory classes

    Currently I have created a ABCFactory class that has a single method creating ABC objects. Now that I think of it, maybe instead of having a factory, I could just make a static method in my ABC Method. What are the pro's and con's on making this change? Will it not lead to the same? I don't foresee having other classes inherit ABC, but one never knows! Thanks

  • Exchange Server 2007 is altering href value

    I am creating an email going out to internal users with the following code that has a link to an internal directory: <a href="\\abc\123">\\abc\123</a> And for whatever reason, the mail that comes in shows: \\abc\123 and the link points to /abc/123 I am suspecting Exchange Server of somehow altering the mail message to make it less "dangerous", but I am really stuck here since this is a network address, going to internal users! When they click the link it doesn't show the directory. Any help would be much appreciated!

    I am adding my Javsacript file in pages with different query strings in the script path like this: Page1: <script type="text/javascript" src="file.js?abc=123"></script> Page2: <script type="text/javascript" src="file.js?abc=456"></script> Page3: <script type="text/javascript" src="file.js?abc=789"></script> In my Javascript file, how can I get the value of the "abc" param? I tried using window.location for this, but that does not work.   • Can you use regular expressions in struts-config.xml?

    I'm trying to route these two url's to different Actions. We are using Struts 1.2: /abc-def/products /abc-def I tried putting this action first: <action path="/abc*/products" type="com.business.exampleAction"> <forward name="success" path="/go"/> </action> and then this one after: <action path="/abc*" type="com.business.differentExampleAction"> <forward name="success" path="/goElsewhere"/> </action> but it always goes to the second action (differentExampleAction in this case). I've tried various iterations for the , like . or (.*), but haven't found anything that actually works yet. From what I've read, it seems like the only regular-expression-like characters allowed in struts-config are the wildcard symbols (* and **), but I hope I am wrong.

  • MySQL searching using many 'like' operators: is there a better way?

    I have a page that gets all rows from a table in a database, then displays the rows in an HTML table. That works great, but now I want to implement a 'search' feature. There is a searchbox, and search-terms are separated by a space. I am going to make it search three fields for the search terms, 'make' 'model' and 'type.' These three fields are VARCHAR(30). Currently if I wanted to search using 3 terms (say 'cool' 'abc' and '123') my query would look something like this. SELECT * FROM table WHERE make LIKE '%cool%' OR make LIKE '%abc%' OR make LIKE '%123%' OR model LIKE '%cool%' OR model LIKE '%abc%' OR model LIKE '%123%' OR type LIKE '%cool%' OR type LIKE '%abc%' OR type LIKE '%123%' That looks really bad, and it will get even worse if there are more search terms or more fields to search. My question to you: is there a better way to search? If so, what?

    I am starting a process lets say abc.exe in a background worker. In the begining everything works fine but in between the newly created process i.e. abc.exe haults. Although I am starting abc.exe as hidden window but I come to know about its hang as it stopes doing log writing. When I close my UI form then again abc.exe starts working. Can anybody tell me what could be the possible cause for this? I am not able to debug the issue as it can happen at any time, I can not replicate it. Please tell me as it is very urgent for me. If some more info is required then please revert back.

    It seems that in Lua, I can either pass vararg on to another function, or take a peek at them through arg, but not both.     Let's say I have this structure of my Java Web Application: TheProject -- [Web Pages] -- -- abc.txt -- -- index.jsp -- [Source Packages] -- -- [wservices] -- -- -- WS.java WS.java is my Web Service, which is situated in a wservices package. Now from this service, I need to access the abc.txt file and write to it. These are my urls: http://127.0.0.1:8080/TheProject/WS <- the webservice http://127.0.0.1:8080/TheProject/abc.txt <- the file I want to access To read the file, I tried with getResourceAsStream and I was successful in reading from it. But now I also want to write to this file, and I tried such a method but failed. Is there a way I can get access to the abc.txt file from WS.java and be able to successfully read from and write to it?

    I currently try printing out text on multiple pages. For this, I count the number of rows and when they reach a fixed amount a method called pagebreakis executed.   • if else-if making code look ugly any cleaner solution?

    I have around 20 functions (is_func1, is_fucn2, is_func3...) returning boolean I assume there is only one function which returns true and I want that! I am doing: if is_func1(param1, param2): # I pass 1 to following abc(1) # I pass 1 some_list.append(1) elif is_func2(param1, param2): # I pass 2 to following abc(2) # I pass 1 some_list.append(2) ... . . elif is_func20(param1, param2): ... Please note: param1 and param2 are different for each, abc and some_list take parameters depending on the function. The code looks big and there is repetition in calling abc and some_list, I can pull this login in a function! but is there any other cleaner solution? I can think of putting functions in a data structure and loop to call them.
