  • Didn't you have problems with upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04 (libre office)?

    - by Pascal Paulus
This is the first time I'm repporting something hoping that it can be usefull for you. When updating from 11.010 to 12.04 (what include updating Libre office I supose), I can't any more work with any document that was originally made in Libre office. Every change freezes the screen, I can't save anything... I'm talking of complex documents, with lots of internal references and footnotes and some propor text styles of about 230 pages (phd work) I wanted to alert you that probabely something is wrong but as I don't have any tecnical knowledge, I don't know what could be usefull to help you in your great job of making good free software. My little desktop has 2Gb of Ram memory and an atom processor (I can look for more details if that would be usefull to you)

  • Problem with the screen resolution on Ubuntu 12.04

    - by sveinn
I just installed ubuntu on my laptop. The screen resolution is stuck in 1024x768. The screen is made for 1280x800. When I run xrandr I get: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Screen 0: minimum 800 x 600, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768 default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm 1024x768 61.0* 800x600 61.0 1280x800 isn't offered and I get gamma size error. I was going to look into the Xorg.conf file but I couldn't locate it. 1280x800 was displayed in Windows 7 and I think it is being displayed in Grub before ubuntu starts also. Here are some details about my computer: CPU Intel atom D2500 1.86GHz Chipset Intel 945GSE+ICH7M LCD 14" TFT 16:9 Resolution ratio 1280*800 Video Card Intel integrated GMA950 Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • No Sound via HDMI

    - by Goony Hill
I have ubuntu installed on a Acer aspire revo 3700 intel atom processor with nvidia ion graphics this is plugged into a celcus 32 inch TV via HDMI (1080p). The video driver shows as an nvidia which I can select. I have set the sound to play via HDMI and the output to HDMI but get no sound. I have tried a sony 1080i TV with the box but get eratic results with the graphics, but the sound picks up straight away that is there is no need to select it. The graphics on the celcus TV work but I get a dialog box showing loads of different resolutions and frequencies which I have to close manually, these appear to be attempts to set different resolutions for the TV. Am I missing some sort of screen/sound driver, if so does anyone know what might support the celcus 32 inch (1080p) tv?

  • Issues with HP Mini 110-1125NR

    - by Guga Figueiredo
Just finished installing Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin on my HP Mini 110-1125NR and im having small, but rather irritating issues. Second, built-in wireless wont activate. system says its enabled and on, but the light indicator is still orange (as if its off), and i cant get a signal from my home wi-fi I havent found any solved threads for inspiration, and mos of them are pretty old (1 year +) so i thought of giving a try to see if any of you guys System is: HP Mini 110-1100 1gb memory Intel Atom CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz x 2 Os - Precise Pangolin - Ubuntu 12.04 160gb Hard disk If any of you are aware of the solutions of my issues it'd be awesome Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Can't restart from Ubuntu 12.10

    - by Sankalp Kota
I am dual-booting Ubuntu 12.10 and Windows 8 Pro. Both run seamlessly but I've had the persistent issue of not being able to restart my machine properly from Ubuntu. If I am on Ubuntu and hit the 'Restart..' option, the screen turns off and Ubuntu shuts down, but the computer never turns off and grub bootloader never shows on the screen. However, rebooting from Windows gets me to the bootloader as it should. Turning off the machine completely with 'Shut down' works fine with both Ubuntu and Windows as well. This issue was present even when I was dual booting Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 Starter as well. My computer is an Acer AOD257 with 2 GB RAM, Intel Atom N570 Processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Ubuntu won't boot on windows starter

    - by First timer
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS yesterday from a usb, but it only boots into Windows unless the usb is in, then it boots into the Ubuntu loader where I can choose Ubuntu vs. Windows. What's the problem? I run windows starter on a netbook with 1 gb ram and intel atom processor. I tried to install boot-repair but it won't work either. I follow the instructions for the Terminal and it seems to go right until I try launching it - then it says that it does not know the command boot-repair. I really like Ubuntu, it lets this netbook run smoothly and better than ever before but I don't think I want to boot from a usb every time.

  • SWI-Prolog tokenize_atom/2 replacement?

    - by Shark
What I need to do is to break atom to tokens. E. g.: tokenize_string('Hello, World!', L). would unify L=['Hello',',','World','!']. Exactly as tokenize_atom/2 do. But when I try to use tokenize_atom/2 with non-latin letters it fails. Is there any universal replacement or how I can write one? Thanks in advance.

  • SyndicationItem Content and Summary property in ASP.NET 3.5

    - by bobsmith123
Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that the SyndicationItem.Content is null some times based on the feed address. When it's null, SyndicationItem.Summary seems to have the text of the blog post. Is this dependent on whether the feed is RSS or Atom? I am trying to get the blog post's text irrespective of what RSS URL the user inputs. Can someone clarify? Thanks

  • htaccess blog feed redirect

    - by kb
hi helpful people, i'm trying to get my old blogger blog feed URL (/blog/atom.xml) to redirect to my new blog feed URL (/blog/feed). A regular 301 redirect didn't work, and the advice given on the wordpress site, which is: RewriteRule ^oldfeed.php(.*)? /wordpress/?feed=newfeed [QSA] isn't quite cutting it either - probably because i'm not sure how to adjust the code for oldfeed to accomodate a directory. or for some other reason entirely! Can anyone help me with this? Thanks very much, kb

  • Drill down rss reader iphone

    - by bing
Hi everyone, I have made a simple rss reader. The app loads an xml atom file in an array. Now I have added categories to my atom feed, which are first loaded in the array What is the best way to add drill down functionality programmatically. Now only the categories are loaded into the array and displayed. This is the implementation code ..... loading xml file <snip> ..... - (void)parserDidStartDocument:(NSXMLParser *)parser { NSLog(@"found file and started parsing"); } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser parseErrorOccurred:(NSError *)parseError { NSString * errorString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Unable to download story feed from web site (Error code %i )", [parseError code]]; NSLog(@"error parsing XML: %@", errorString); UIAlertView * errorAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Error loading content" message:errorString delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [errorAlert show]; } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict{ //NSLog(@"found this element: %@", elementName); currentElement = [elementName copy]; if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"entry"]) { // clear out our story item caches... Categoryentry = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; currentID = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentTitle = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentSummary = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentContent = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName{ //NSLog(@"ended element: %@", elementName); if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"entry"]) { // save values to an entry, then store that item into the array... • How to find out the exact RSS XML path of a website?

    - by Winston
How do I get the exact feed.xml/rss.xml/atom.xml path of a website? For example, I supplied "http://www.example.com/news/today/this_is_a_news", but the rss is pointing to "http://www.example.com/rss/feed.xml", most modern browsers have this features already and I'm curious how did they get them. Can you cite an example code in ruby, python or bash?

  • Determining the word width in C

    - by das_weezul
Hi! I'm learning C right now and so I'm fiddling about with pointers. Is there a way to determine the word width of the CPU in C because I'm writing a small program which prints it's own stack (Because I'm curious how it is structured), so that information would come in handy. Right now I'm using an int pointer, as an integer is 4 Bytes wide and I'm using a 32-bit Intel Atom CPU. Thanks in advance, C gurus ;o)
