  • Renaming dates under windows cmd

    I have a bunch of directories (folders, if you like) that follow this pattern \20121022 Description of the directory's contents goes here\ (some don't have it, just the date) and I need to rename them to follow the following pattern \2012-10-22 Description of the directory's contents ...\ Is there a way to do it using Windows cmd and the tools that come with it (namely, ren)? If not, what would be the most portable way to do it? I have a very restricted set of privileges on the machine I'm doing this on.

  • Problem, executing commands in cmd using c#

    I need to execute the below command in command prompt. C:\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin>mysql -uroot -ppassword < d:/admindb/aar.sql When i do this manually in cmd, i am getting my results. Now i am trying to do this programatically, to execute it in cmd from c# code. I am using the below code to do it. I am not getting any errors and Result !!! When i debug, i get the value of string commandLine as below, "\"C:\\MySQL\\MySQL Server 5.0\\bin\\\" -uroot -ppassword > \"D:/admindb/AAR12.sql" I guess the problem is with this string, passed to cmd.   • Cannot find winemenubuilder.exe when trying to run StarCraft 2

    Recently I've installed StarCraft 2 via playonlinux. The installation was absolutly no problem, everything was fine. But if I want to start the game now, it crashes.   • Process.Start concatenating cmd line from previous invocation

    Hi, I am using a Process.Start in .Net 2.0 to start a child win32 app. Process.start ( "SomeProcess.exe", "<Cmd line>" ); The process runs fine but and the user then closes this window. However if I then run the same process again in the same session, the cmd line recieved by the called process is now a concatentation of the previous call. I.e SomeProcess.exe recieves the cmd line " SomeProcess.exe ". Has anyone else seen this behaviour before? Any help much appreciated. Ralph.

    Hi, I'm currently launching a programme using subprocess.Popen(cmd, shell=TRUE) I'm fairly new to Python, but it 'feels' like there ought to be some api that lets me do something similar to: subprocess.Popen(cmd, shell=TRUE, postexec_fn=function_to_call_on_exit) I am doing this so that function_to_call_on_exit can do something based on knowing that the cmd has exited (for example keeping count of the number of external processes currently running) I assume that I could fairly trivially wrap subprocess in a class that combined threading with the Popen.wait() method, but as I've not done threading in Python yet and it seems like this might be common enough for an API to exist, I thought I'd try and find one first. Thanks in advance :)

  • How can I specify a single .config file for multiple EXE projects in .NET

    I have a project that I am breaking up into multiple .exe projects. I still plan on publishing them, using click once, into the same location at the same time, and I would like to use the same config file. I have added the app.config to each project using the "Add link" option in Visual Studio, which is great for debugging, but in production, when I compile each exe project, the app.config is not copied into the "master project"'s bin folder. example: master.exe with master.exe.config master.exe may launch order.exe based on user settings master.exe may launch returns.exe based on user settings master, order, and returns will all reside in the same folder, and should share a single config file.

    just as this link says : http://untidy.net/blog/2009/11/03/replacing-notepad-with-pn-via-image-file-execution-options/ I wanna replace Notepad.exe to Notepad2.exe using "Image File Execution Options" function by run this command reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\notepad.exe" /v "Debugger" /t REG_SZ /d "\"c:\windows\Notepad2.exe\" /z" /f but, when I run notepad, it open file c:\windows\notepad.exe in notepad2.exe as a text file by default. Is there a way to avoid that? I know using this tech Notepad.exe will as the first param passed to Notepad2.exe. but I don't know how to avoid this :(

  • Windows Server 2008 CMD Task Schedule not running

    I have a BAT/CMD file that when run from the command prompt runs completely. When I run it through the Task Scheduler it partially runs. Here is a copy of the file cd\sqlbackup ren Apps_Backup*.* Apps.Bak ren Apps_Was_Backup*.* Apps_Was.Bak xcopy /Y c:\sqlbackup\*.bak c:\sqlbackup\11\*.bak xcopy /y c:\sqlbackup\*.bak \\igweb01\c$\sqlbackup\*.bak Move /y c:\sqlbackup\*.bak "\\igsrv01\d$\sql backup\" The last two lines do not run when the task scheduler calls it. But again, work when manually run from the command line. All the local sever commands run but when it comes to the last two lines where it goes to another server then it does not work.

  • Stack overflow in xp cmd console

    I am using an older program whose source code I cannot see. I am using the cmd.exe console in windows xp. The program ran with no problems on an xp machine last year, while a stack overflow code 2000 error was observed on a different xp machine (easy fix - use the machine that works). I tried running the program on the previously working machine lately, and now am getting the same error. No changes to the os were made and I did not change the service pack version. Any ideas on how to get around this stack overflow error so I can use the program? Dosbox will at least open the program, however it does not run to completion. Thanks!

  • SSH command from PHP script - nothing, yet work at cmd line

    I'm working on an EC2 box and trying to SSH command another box. The command works in command-line, even php -a interactive. However it does not work when running as apache. Example cmd:- system('ssh -i /home/me/keys/key.pem [email protected] "ls"'); I've tried adding apache to wheel group, and gshadow on both boxes. I've also just tried chowning the pem file to apache. Nothing. Yet the command response fine in the two other use cases outlines. What's going on here? Anyone know?

How do I avoid duplicating it (i.e. check whether it is already contained in the PATH "string").   • CMD file time not always matching windows explorer file time

    I have a set of file I need to set the created, modified and last access date to exif date taken value, after a copy between 2 folders (might be fat32 on memory card or ntfs on fixed or usb disk). When I copy a file, the date and time switch to the current date. Then I change all 3 dates manually, either with change attributes in windows explorer or far manager on the command line. To make it faster I wrote a batch script getting original file dates (with php and function stat), building a batch script that invoke nircmd setfiletime for each file. Then I apply this batch to the copied version. The operation is relatively fast and reliable. Unfortunately, a bunch of files have last access and created time different in cmd and windows explorer (1H difference). Very strangely, it happens with dates between november and february, which make the operation unreliable. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?

    Is there a way to detect whether two EXE's (compiled from VS.Net 2008 for C++/MFC) do not have any code-level changes between them i.e. for purposes of knowing that there have been no statement changes. This is for compliance purposes when my vendor ships me an exe, ostensibly with no changes made to the code since the last time we tested it. Is there a tool to check that this is so? Cheers

  • Delphi exe, will it run with just BDE configuration?

    Hi, I've taken over a legacy application and I have the exe created. If I can configure the BDE then in theory it should be possible to run this. Someone indicated that Delphi needs to be installed in order for the app to run. I'm unsure of that - it doesn't quite make sense to me as there is an exe file. Any input from Delphi experts would be appreciated. Roddy

Did you just check in a changeset in to TFS and realized that you need to roll back the changeset because the changes were suppose to go in a different branch? Or did you just accidently merge a wrong changeset in your release branch? There are several ways to undo the damage, Manual: Yes, we all just hate this word but for the record you could manually rollback the changes. Get Specific version on the branch and chose the changeset prior to the one you checked in. After that check out all the files in the changeset and check them in. During the check in you will receive a conflict. At this point choose ‘Keep local changes’ in the conflict resolution window and check in the files. Automated: Yes, we just love it! TFS comes with a very powerful command line utility ‘tf.exe’ that gives you the ability to rollback the effects of one or more changesets to one or more version-controlled items. This command does not remove the changesets from an item's version history. Instead, this command creates in your workspace a set of pending changes that negate the effects of the changesets that you specify. Syntax tf rollback /toversion:VersionSpec ItemSpec [/recursive] [/lock:none|checkin|checkout] [/version:versionspec] [/keepmergehistory] [/login:username,[password]] [/noprompt] tf rollback /changeset:ChangesetFrom~ChangesetTo [ItemSpec] [/recursive] [/lock:none|checkin|checkout] [/version:VersionSpec] [/keepmergehistory] [/noprompt] [/login:username,[password]]   I’ll explain this with an example. Your workspace is at the location C:\myWorkspace You want to rollback changeset # 145621 C:\Workspace\MyBranch>tf.exe rollback /changeset:145621 /recursive How do i rollback/undo a series of changesets? You can also rollback a range of changesets by using the following C:\Workspace\MyBranch>tf.exe rollback /changeset:145601~145621 /recursive This will check out the files in the version control and you should be able to see them in the pending changes. Go on check them in to undo the specific changeset that you just rolled back. Do you completely want to get rid of the changeset from all future merges between the two branches? /KeepMergeHistory: This option has an effect only if one or more of the changesets that you are rolling back include a branch or merge change. Specify this option if you want future merges between the same source and the same target to exclude the changes that you are rolling back. Errors “If you get the message ‘Unable to determine the workspace.’ You may be able to correct this by running ‘tf worksapces /collection:TeamProjectCollectionUrl’” you are in the wrong directory. Make sure that you run the ‘tf rollback’ command from the directory of your workspace.   Status Exit Code Description 0 The operation rolled back all items successfully. 1 The operation rolled back at least one item successfully but could not roll back one or more items. 100 The operation could not roll back any items.   To use the command you must have the Read, Check Out, and Check In permissions set to Allow.
