  Più di 100 professsionisti -  manager della funzione Amministrazione, Finanza e Controllo in azienda e consulenti del settore - hanno partecipato al Workshop, organizzato da CUOA e Oracle Hyperion, in collaborazione con Adacta Studio Associato. E' stata un'occasione unica per approfondire i temi della pianificazione "estesa" e del controllo di gestione nelle imprese italiane - piccole, medie e grandi - alternando chiavi di lettura diverse (accademica, consulenziale, tecnologico-applicativa e utenti) ma tutte legate dal filo conduttore dell'evoluzione dei modelli, degli strumenti e dell'utilizzo dei sistemi evoluti di planning e budgeting economico-finanziario e patrimoniale. Una particolare attenzione è stata posta sul rapporto banca-impresa alla luce dell'attuale crisi e di come i sistemi innovativi di performance management e business intelligence possono aiutare il management nel ridisegno del sistema di finanziamento delle aziende e nella negoziazione con i diversi stakeholders. • How to refactor a myriad of similar classes

  I'm faced with similar classes A1, A2, ..., A100. Believe it or not but yeah, there are roughly hundred classes that almost look the same. None of these classes are unit tested (of course ;-) ). Each of theses classes is about 50 lines of code which is not too much by itself. Still this is way too much duplicated code. I consider the following options: Writing tests for A1, ..., A100. Then refactor by creating an abstract base class AA. Pro: I'm (near to totally) safe by the tests that nothing goes wrong. Con: Much effort. Duplication of test code. Writing tests for A1, A2. Abstracting the duplicated test code and using the abstraction to create the rest of the tests. Then create AA as in 1. Pro: Less effort than in 1 but maintaining a similar degree of safety. Con: I find generalized test code weird; it often seems ... incoherent (is this the right word?). Normally I prefer specialized test code for specialized classes. But that requires a good design which is my goal of this whole refactoring. Writing AA first, testing it with mock classes. Then inheriting A1, ..., A100 successively. Pro: Fastest way to eliminate duplicates. Con: Most Ax classes look very much the same. But if not, there is the danger of changing the code by inheriting from AA. Other options ... At first I went for 3. because the Ax classes are really very similar to each other. But now I'm a bit unsure if this is the right way (from a unit testing enthusiast's perspective).

• How to specify the order of startup scripts (CLI)?

  Startup really confuses me. It seems various methods for starting things happen in different locations all over the place. But is there a way to define the order they are loaded? Specifically... I have an issue where Plex Media Server (PMS) can't be discovered by clients if the server's VPN connection is established prior PMS starting. It was driving me nuts, but I discovered that I could solve the problem by shutting down PMS, shutting down the VPN, turning on PMS and then turning on VPN. I'm not exactly sure how PMS auto-loads itself at startup, but the VPN is something I defined by editing: /etc/network/if-up.d/slickvpn with the following: #! /bin/bash REQUIRED_CONNECTION_NAME="Wired connection 1" VPN_CONNECTION_NAME="myvpn" activ_con=$(nmcli con status | grep "${REQUIRED_CONNECTION_NAME}") activ_vpn=$(nmcli con status | grep "${VPN_CONNECTION_NAME}") if [ "${activ_con}" -a ! "${activ_vpn}" ]; then nmcli con up id "${VPN_CONNECTION_NAME}" fi That's a script I found somewhere (I think on this site) when looking for help autoconnecting a VPN. So I guess /etc/network/if-up.d/ scripts are initiated prior to the PMS service. How can I flip that? Or other solution?

• A lock could not obtained within the time requested issue

  The title is the error I'm getting, when I click load my program freezes. I assume its because I'm doing a statement inside a statement, but from what I see its the only solution to my issue. By loading I want to just repopulate the list of patients, but to do so I need to do their conditions also. The code works, the bottom method is what I'm trying to fix. • JButton Image Ignoring GridBagConstraints

  I am working on an application and have a screen that needs to have elements (namely some custom JButtons) appear and disappear based on a user selection. However for some reason, when I add these buttons to their pane, the buttton image goes to the top corner, and leaves the text in the center, completely ignoring GridBagConstraints. I am completely stumped on this one as I have done this same exact thing dozens of times earlier in the program without any issues.   La XXI edición del Congreso de CUORE (Comunidad de Usuarios de Oracle) se clausuró el miércoles pasado tras dos intensos días de conferencias, talleres, reuniones y mesas redondas. Los más de 600 asistentes son una buena muestra del gran interés que despiertan las propuestas tecnológicas de Oracle entre nuestros clientes. Big Data y el sector utilities fueron dos de los grandes protagonistas del Congreso. El evento fue inaugurado por Félix del Barrio (en la segunda foto por la izquierda), director general de Oracle en España. Una buena parte del evento, la mañana del martes, estuvo dedicada a Big Data. Con Andrew Sutherland, Vicepresidente Senior de Tecnología de Oracle en EMEA, haciendo la presentación principal, para dar paso después a sesiones específicas sobre las tecnologías necesarias en las diferentes fases de los proyectos Big Data (obtener los datos, organizarlos, analizarlos y, finalmente, tomar las decisiones de negocio correspondientes). Enrique Sanchez de Leon, Director de APD, fue el encargado de abrir la jornada con una calurosa bienvenida a los invitados. Tras él, Fernando Rumbero, Iberia Applications Cluster Leader de Oracle , comenzó dando unas pinceladas sobre los cambios a los que los Directores Financieros deben estar preparados para convertirse en parte de la estrategia de la compañía. • Cannot connect to MySQL over TCP locally - Connection Timeout - Ubuntu 9.04

  I am running Ubuntu and am ultimately trying to connect Tomcat to my MySQL database using JDBC. It has worked previously but after a reboot the instance now fails to connect. Both Tomcat 6 and MySQL 5.0.75 are on the same machine Connection string: jdbc:mysql:///localhost:3306 I can connect to MySQL on the command line using the mysql command The my.cnf file is pretty standard (Available on request) has bind address: 127.0.0.1 I cannot Telnet to the MySQL port despite netstat saying MySQL is listening I have one IpTables rule to forward 80 - 8080 and no firewall I'm aware of. I'm pretty new to this and I'm not sure what else to test. I don't know whether I should be looking in etc/interfaces and if I did what to look for. It's weird because it used to work but after a reboot it's down so I must have changed something.... :). I realise a timeout indicates the server is not responding and I assume it's because the request isn't actually getting through. I installed MySQL via apt-get and Tomcat manually.
