  • Error with using "dynamic" keyword in Silverlight app

    I get the following error: "One or more types required to compile a dynamic expression cannot be found. Are you missing references to Microsoft.CSharp.dll and System.Core.dll" I do have System.Core.dll, do have I to find Microsoft.CSharp somewhere? It wasn't part of the project and it isn't in the references list.

    i have code that takes a csharp datetime and converts it into a long to plot in the "flot" graph. here is the code public static long GetJavascriptTimestamp(DateTime input) { TimeSpan span = new TimeSpan(DateTime.Parse("1/1/1970").Ticks); DateTime time = input.Subtract(span); return (long)(time.Ticks / 10000); } I now need an opposite function where i take this long value and get the csharp datetime object back. any idea if the above method can be reversed ?

  • Dell Inspiron touchpad not working

    I own a Dell Inspiron on which I installed 12.04 on. Everything was working great up until a couple of weeks ago when the Touchpad stopped working. It doesn't show up in mouse/touchpad settings either. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem with 12.04 and was able to fix it. I am a noob when it comes to computer code and stuff like that, so please try to keep the answer noob proof. Also, does anyone know if the guys behind Ubuntu will have an update to fix this problem?

  • PlayOnLinux Unable to find 32bit opengl libraries Dual ATI Videocards

    Im curently running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64Bit So, i installed league of legends fine the first time with the opensource ATI Drivers provided by ubuntu itself with no issues at all, but it runs so slow ... max 20fps because those drivers dont fully support my Dual Graphic cards Than i restored system and i installed the Linux Version of the Proper ATI Drivers from the AMD Website wich supports my APU AMD-A8-4500M with the AMD Radeon 7640G + 7670M Graphics Cards enabling me full performance from my system .. Problem is, to run League of Legends i need a 32bit opengl library, and the driver, automaticly detects a 64bits Linux install and loads the 64bit libraries but not the 32 ones . i need some kind of command, to force the 32bit libraries to load, or to make League of Legends run on the 64 ones .. Im kinda noob to ubuntu .. i installed the 32 bits ones trough terminal and still doesnt work idk why, maybe the driver doesnt want to load them .. plzz help me on this, i dont want to go back to windows just to play league since im noob idk what more details to post here so plz tell me what do you need

    Total noob to Maya. Total noob to Panda3D. Planning on becoming really good at both as soon as I have free time to do so, but right now I have an assignment due in a few hours which requires this: (The part which confuses me is bolded.) Model and texture a vehicle and two different obstacles Build a scene graph in Panda with a plane, the vehicle, several copies of each of the obstacles, and (at least) a direction light Program vehicle movement, constrained to a plane (no terrain) Working headlights Vehicle collides with obstacles How do I attach a light source to a model? I'm assuming this is done in Panda3D but I'm sufficiently new to this that I wouldn't be astonished to hear it's part of the model.

    I will start off saying I searched a bit for this problem with little success. You see, I am an utmost noob when it comes to Ubuntu and Linux based OS (hence why I want to install it and discover it) and the thread I found were too specific for me to do anything with. Therefore, if you find a thread that is noob-friendly and answers my question, please link it below or please try to answer as simply as possible :) The problem: I want to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit alongside Windows 7 on my main hard drive (to get the choice which one to start when booting). Pop the CD in, reboot and get to the installer screen. I know I'm supposed to have 3 options, but I'm only given the option to erase my hard drive or "do something else". Therefore, my question is: how do I make Ubuntu recognise Windows 7, so it may install alongside it?

  • VB.NET IF() Coalesce and “Expression Expected” Error

    I am trying to use the equivalent of the C# “??” operator in some VB.NET code that I am working in. This StackOverflow article for “Is there a VB.NET equivalent for C#'s ?? operator?” explains the VB.NET IF() statement syntax which is exactly what I am looking for... and I thought I was going to be done pretty quickly and could move on. But after implementing the IF() statement in my code I started to receive this error: Compiler Error Message: BC30201: Expression expected. And no matter how I tried using the “IF()” statement, whenever I tried to visit the aspx page that I was working on I received the same error. This other StackOverflow article Using VB.NET If vs. IIf in binding/rendering expression indicated that the VB.NET IF() operator was not available until VS2008 or .NET Framework 3.5.  So I checked the Web Application project properties but it was targeting the .NET Framework 3.5: So I was still not understanding what was going on, but then I noticed the version information in the detailed compiler output of the error page: This happened to be a C# project, but with an ASPX page with inline VB.NET code (yes, it is strange to have that but that is the project I am working on).  So even though the project file was targeting the .NET Framework 3.5, the ASPX page was being compiled using the .NET Framework 2.0.  But why?  Where does this get set?  How does ASP.NET know which version of the compiler to use for the inline code? For this I turned to the web.config.  Here is the system.codedom/compilers section that was in the web.config for this project: <system.codedom>     <compilers>         <compiler language="c#;cs;csharp" extension=".cs" warningLevel="4" type="Microsoft.CSharp.CSharpCodeProvider, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089">             <providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5" />             <providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false" />         </compiler>     </compilers> </system.codedom> Keep in mind that this is a C# web application project file but my aspx file has inline VB.NET code.  The web.config does not have any information for how to compile for VB.NET so it defaults to .NET 2.0 (instead of 3.5 which is what I need). So the web.config needed to include the VB.NET compiler option.  Here it is with both the C# and VB.NET options (I copied the VB.NET config from a new VB.NET Web Application project file).     <system.codedom>         <compilers>             <compiler language="c#;cs;csharp" extension=".cs" warningLevel="4" type="Microsoft.CSharp.CSharpCodeProvider, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089">                 <providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5" />                 <providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false" />             </compiler>       <compiler language="vb;vbs;visualbasic;vbscript" extension=".vb" warningLevel="4" type="Microsoft.VisualBasic.VBCodeProvider, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089">         <providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5"/>         <providerOption name="OptionInfer" value="true"/>         <providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false"/>       </compiler>     </compilers>     </system.codedom>   So the inline VB.NET code on my aspx page was being compiled using the .NET Framework 2.0 when it really needed to be compiled with the .NET Framework 3.5 compiler in order to take advantage of the VB.NET IF() coalesce statement.  Without the VB.NET web.config compiler option, the default is to compile using the .NET Framework 2.0 and the VB.NET IF() coalesce statement does not exist (at least in the form that I want it in).  FYI, there is an older IF statement in VB.NET 2.0 compiler which is why it is giving me the unusual “Expression Expected” error message – see this article for when VB.NET got the new updated version. EDIT (2011-06-20): I had made a wrong assumption in the first version of this blog post.  After a little more research and investigation I was able to figure out that the issue was in the web.config and not with the IIS App Pool.  Thanks to the comment from James which forced me to look into this again.

  • how to convert bitmap image to CIELab image?

    Hello to stackoverflow members! This is my first post but I love reading the questions and answers on this forum! I'm using VS2008, CSharp, NET 3.5 and Windows XP Pro latest patches on this project. I am reading in a jpeg file to a bitmap image using CSharp in the following way: Bitmap bmp = new Bitmap("background.jpg"); Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bmp); I then write some text and logos on g using various DrawString and DrawImage commands. I then want to write this bitmap to a tiff file using the command: bmp.Save("final_artwork.tif", ImageFormat.Tiff); I don't know what the TIFF tags in the header of the final resultant TIFF file will be when you do bmp.Save as shown above? But what I want to produce is a TIFF image file with PHOTOMETRIC CIELab, BITSPERSAMPLE 8, SAMPLESPERPIXEL 3, FILLORDER MSB2LSB, ORIENTATION TOPLEFT, PLANARCONFIG CONTIG, and also uncompressed and singlestrip. Im fairly certain, at least I have not found anything about Microsoft API and CIELab, I can not convert the bitmap image to CIELab photometric and the other requirements using anything from the Microsoft API or .NET 3.5 environment - someone please correct if I am wrong. I have used libtiff in a project in the past but just to write a tiff file where the tiff image in memory was already in CIELab format and all the other requirements as noted per above. Im not certain libtiff can convert from my CSharp bitmap image, which is probably RGB photometric, to CIELab, 8 bps, and 3 spp? Maybe I can use OpenCVImage or Emgu CV or something similiar? So the main question is what is going to be the easiest way to get my final bitmap image as outlined above into a CIELab TIFF and also meeting the other requirements per above? For example: http://somesite.com?passes=dodgy+parameter # BAD http://anothersite.com?passes=a+good+parameter # GOOD My system can make a binary decision about whether or not a URL is good or bad - but ideally I would like it to predict whether or not a previously unseen URL is good or bad. http://some-new-site.com?passes=a+really+dodgy+parameter # BAD I feel the need for a support vector machine (SVM) ... but I need to learn machine learning. Some questions: 1) Is an SVM appropriate for this task? 2) Can I train it with the raw URLs? - without explicitly specifying 'features' 3) How many URLs will I need for it to be good at predictions? 4) What kind of SVM kernel should I use? 5) After I train it, how do I keep it up to date? 6) How do I test unseen URLs again the SVM to decide whether it's good or bad?     I have a list of items in my form which are named like this... <input type="text" id="ListItem1"> <input type="text" id="ListItem2"> <input type="text" id="ListItem3"> I want to create a custom model binder which converts these in to model with this structure... public class MyModel { public IEnumerable<MyModelItem> Items {get; set;} } public class MyModelItem { public int Id { get; set; } public string Value { get; set; } } So each ListItem should be converted to a MyModelItem with id equal to the number at the end of the input id and value set to the value on the input field. In ASP.Net MVC 1.0 I could iterate over the bindingContext.ValueProvider.Keys collection and check for key.StartsWith("ListItem") to find all input items in this format. The new IValueProvider interface in ASP.Net MVC 2 does not have a keys collection and I cannot iterate over that interface. How can I access these values which I only know the prefix for at design time in ASP.Net MVC 2?

    My question can be boiled down to, where does the string returned from stringstream.str().c_str() live in memory, and why can't it be assigned to a const char*? This code example will explain it better than I can #include <string> #include <sstream> #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { stringstream ss("this is a string\n"); string str(ss.str()); const char* cstr1 = str.c_str(); const char* cstr2 = ss.str().c_str(); cout << cstr1 // Prints correctly << cstr2; // ERROR, prints out garbage system("PAUSE"); return 0; } The assumption that stringstream.str().c_str() could be assigned to a const char* led to a bug that took me a while to track down. For bonus points, can anyone explain why replacing the cout statement with cout << cstr // Prints correctly << ss.str().c_str() // Prints correctly << cstr2; // Prints correctly (???) prints the strings correctly? I'm compiling in Visual Studio 2008.
