  • How to use HttpContext.Current on asynchronous threads?

    I've a schedule tasks mechanism (very similar to DotNetNuke's) in my business logic library (a DLL that is used by ASP.Net website). When I use HttpContext.Current inside on of these tasks, it returns with a null value, because the current async thread (or task) was not initiated from a user's request. How can I use HttpContext.Current in these asynchronous threads? P.S - I think my question is more best-practices related than technical.

  • Unable to rename file with c# ftp methods when current user directory is different from root

    Hello everyone, Remark: due to spam prevention mechanizm I was forced to replace the beginning of the Uris from ftp:// to ftp. I've got following problem. I have to upload file with C# ftp method and afterwards rename it. Easy, right? :) Ok, let's say my ftp host is like this: ftp.contoso.com and after logging in, current directory is set to: users/name So, what I'm trying to achieve is to log in, upload file to current directory as file.ext.tmp and after upload is successful, rename the file to file.ext The whole difficulty is, as I guess, to properly set the request Uri for FtpWebRequest. MSDN states: The URI may be relative or absolute. If the URI is of the form "ftp://contoso.com/%2fpath" (%2f is an escaped '/'), then the URI is absolute, and the current directory is /path. If, however, the URI is of the form "ftp://contoso.com/path", first the .NET Framework logs into the FTP server (using the user name and password set by the Credentials property), then the current directory is set to UserLoginDirectory/path. Ok, so I upload file with the following URI: ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp Great, the file lands where I wanted it to be: in directory "users/name" Now, I want to rename the file, so I create web request with following Uri: ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp and specify rename to parameter as: file.ext and this gives me 550 error: file not found, no permissions, etc. I traced this in Microsoft Network Monitor and it gave me: Command: RNFR, Rename from CommandParameter: /file.ext.tmp Ftp: Response to Port 53724, '550 File /file.ext.tmp not found' as if it was looking for the file in the root directory - not in the current directory. I renamed the file manually using Total Commander and the only difference was that CommandParameter was without the first slash: CommandParameter: file.ext.tmp I'm able to successfully rename the file by supplying following absolute URI: ftp.contoso.com/%2fusers/%2fname/file.ext.tmp but I don't like this approach, since I would have to know the name of current user's directory. It can probably be done by using WebRequestMethods.Ftp.PrintWorkingDirectory, but it adds extra complexity (calling this method to retrieve directory name, then combining the paths to form proper URI). What I don't understand is why the URI ftp.contoso.com/file.ext.tmp is good for upload and not for rename? Am I missing something here? The project is set to .NET 4.0, coded in Visual Studio 2010.

    I'd like to recenter a buffer, called "Lense", where I've inserted some text. I wished to make it the current buffer by "(set-buffer "Lense")", then "(recenter 0))". By the following code segments: (save-excursion (set-buffer "Lense") (recenter 0)) However, it seems that the above code would only recenter the buffer which is the current buffer, and "(set-buffer "Lense")" has no effect to make the current buffer to be "Lense". Please help me to figure out the right way to recenter the named buffer "Lense". Thanks, Yu

  • iPhone link to map directions using string "current location" not lat and lng for saddr

    I know there are numerous questions about how to construct a sharedApplication link to the maps app specifying the start and end address with coordinates. I've got that working no problem. Has anyone found a way to link with a source address generically specified as "current location". I ask because the scenario I'm working on having Core Location or a UIMapView would only be necessary in order to determine the user location prior to handing off to the map app where the user locating would seem to just happen again. I've tried throwing UTF8'd "Current Location" and "[Current Location]" into the saddr parameter which amusingly starts from Current Montana. I've also tried simply excluding the saddr param. I know this is often tread territory but this particular situation wasn't covered by anything I found searching here or on mapki. Before I add the core location code I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a more limited way to tackle this. Thanks

    I want to get the current weather conditions from the NOAA. I know they have a SOAP web service that can be used to get weather forecasts and XML files for current weather conditions for each of their weather stations. I could just use the XML file for the weather station nearest to where I want, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to search for the proper xml file by zipcode. Is there a simple way to get current weather conditions by zipcode from the NOAA?

    hellow all, in xcode whenever we load a mapview ,it automaticallay shows the current user location right. In my case i am showing another location on map ,such that the map loads the current location and zoomed to the location i have given .. but, the current location point was not showing (the blue one which comes automaticay..). i have given mapView.showCurrentLocation=TRUE; but its not showing . so could any one tells the way it works and it should say the current location mark and then zoomed to the point i have given.   • Set HttpContext.Current.User from Thread.CurrentPrincipal

    I have a security manager in my application that works for both windows and web, the process is simple, just takes the user and pwd and authenticates them against a database then sets the Thread.CurrentPrincipal with a custom principal. For windows applications this works fine, but I have problems with web applications. After the process of authentication, when I'm trying to set the Current.User to the custom principal from Thread.CurrentPrincipal this last one contains a GenericPrincipal. Am I doing something wrong?     Hi, I am using HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name to get a user id from 2 web application i'am developping. the problem is when i'am loggin in teh first application i get always HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name value (i put test in Application_AuthenticateRequest event) but when i log in teh 2nd application adn i ty to naviagte trough the 1st application teh HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name loses value. Environnement of test : Windows XP / VS.NET 2005 / Authentication forms BTW : both application are deployed in teh same machine Thank you for your help

    At DevDays in SF last year (before jQuery 1.4 was released), I thought they mentioned an upcoming feature in 1.4 that would allow you to reference the current jQuery object while in a chain. I've read through all of the 1.4 improvements and wasn't able to find it. Does anyone know how this can be done?   • JQuery datepicker numberOfMonths: display current selection month last

    Hi, I have a jquery datepicker with the numberOfMonths set to 3, currently when I click on the datepicker, the left side month is the current month. In most cases, the user is only going to be selecting a date prior to todays date so I would prefer the current month selected to be the last calendar i.e. March, April, May instead of the current implementation which is May, June, July. Greatly appreciate any help!
