  • Blackberry Development, communicating two Blackberry device in a multiplayer game programatically

    Hi Forum, We are developing a game application for Blackberry, which will have multi player option to let two or more player compete against each other. We have implemented the logic for that and already two or more player are able to play the game simultaneously on single device. Now we want to upgrade our application so that two or more user can compete each other playing from different device and different locations. Can anyone please help me by providing me the way (or code) to achieve this (communicating two blackberry devices over the air to access single session programmaticaly)? I found the code to connect two device using Bluetooth but as the player may situated in different geographic regions we need to achieve this using over the air connection. Thanks in advance.   • getting an embedded resource in a single dll made up of multiple class libraries

    my solution has multiple projects and in one of them I have the code to get the embedded resource (an xml file) from another project. All this works fine when all the projects are seperate. However when all the class libraries are embedded into a single dll, the code to get the resource file does not work i.e. it cannot get the emebedded resource. I was wondering if the references to the emebedded resource get mixed up when they are combined together in a single dll?? I use the method Assembly.GetCallingAssembly().GetManifestResourceStream("namespace..filename");

  • Open Source Embedded Database Options for .Net Applications

    I have a .Net 4.0 WPF application that requires an embedded database. MS Access doesn't work on 64 bit Windows I'm told. And I having issues with SSCE: Unable to load DLL 'sqlceme35.dll': This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1) sqlceme35.dll is installed into my application's program files directory, so I can't seem to figure out why Windows XP Pro doesn't see it. I was wondering about other embedded databases options I might use that work on both 32 and 64 bit windows. Any suggestions?

  • How to pass data to another droid device when the other device isn't expecting it

    I am working on an application and one feature that would make it really useful is the ability to share some information, but the other device may not be expecting the data to be sent. For example, if I am reading a really good book, and I realize that a friend may like it, I could use an application to send the data to him, so he could order the book from Amazon. But, since he isn't expecting the data, I would hate for the application to be polling a server every so often, as that will be needlessly draining the battery. Ideally it would be great if there was a way to make a phone call to the target device, send a data packet and end the call. If it could be done and prevent the phone from ringing, then it would be very useful to me. I am curious if there is some way to send data between devices without polling.

We have laid down the evaluation criteria for things like HTTP version, Security, Compression etc. On the embeddable side, we have identified the following criteria: Memory footprint Memory management (support for plugging in a custom memory manager) CPU usage Thread usage (support for thread pool) Portability What I want inputs on is: Are there any other criteria that an embeddable software should meet? What exactly does it mean when someone says that a software is designed for embeddable use? We currently have zeroed in on two Web servers: AppWeb Lighttpd (lighty) Feature wise, both the above Web servers seem to be on par. However, it is claimed that AppWeb is designed for embedded use while Lighttpd is not. To choose between the above two Web servers, what criteria should I be looking at?

For your understanding, I would like to let's say take bytes 1-500 and 1.000-3.000 from file1 and bytes 501-999 and bytes 3.001 to 5.000 from file2 to offer them as a combined block-device. My prefered programming language is Python and I want to write my program in user-space as much as possible. For Windows I found such an implementation.   • Feasability of reverse engineering some embedded code

    All, My company is in the situation where we are using an embedded control system from another company in another country. We do not have the source code or the schematics to this system, and the manufacturer doesn't want to release them, seemingly at any price or under any terms. We are thus stuck with a 6 month turn around to get even a small modification done, and they can basically charge any amount they want. Legal aspects aside, would it be at all feasible to reverse engineer the embedded code back into C? Do any companies exist that could do this for us? Thank you, Fred

    I'm trying to learn about device drivers on Linux Kernel, for that I've created three modules with: A bus type A device driver A fake device that does nothing now, only is registered Everything works fine, I can load the bus, the driver and the module that creates the device. Everything appears on sysfs, including the link between the device and the device driver that indicates that they are binded.   • Install device driver silently on Windows XP

    Is there a way to programmatically install device driver silently without cat file and without connecting the device on Windows Xp? I'm using DriverPackageInstall function from Windows Driver Kit. And I can install driver only if device is attached. In other case I get an error: ERROR_NO_SUCH_DEVINST. But that method works fine with Windows Vista. Another problem is warning dialog that asks user to continue or stop installation because cat file is missing . It shows on both OSes. Any ideas?

    Does anyone know of a cheap Android or programmable device that has wifi? I need it for a project for a company that needs a wifi handheld device for the shop floor. Im not too fussed about the language the device uses though Im not really interested in the iTouch as theres no intention to release the app in the app store and I don`t really want to jail break everybodys iTouch. Ideally it would be small , iTouch size for example and relatively cheap $100 or less. Nothing fancy just ability to write a simple UI and have wifi. Voice is not needed. Not too fussed about touch or qwerty keyboard either.

    My company has built a machine that measures wedge and roundness of lenses by reading and interacting with very precise indicators, motors, and a switch panel. The interface for the machine is a WPF application and it runs on Windows Vista on a normal PC bought from the store. I've never worked with Windows Embedded, but it sounds to me like it's intended for this type of system. My question is, what does it buy me? If I were to run this on Windows Embedded Enterprise (Vista) what benefits do I get? Do I get more control of the load, login, and all that? Can I make it more seamless where it doesn't really feel just like a normal application running full screen? Is it something I should look into more?

    Using SQL ManagementStudio 2008 I created SQL 3.5 Compact DB (TestCompact.sdf) and I have created subscription to existing Publication. Using SQL Management Studio it is working. I have transfered TestCompact.sdf to Windows Mobile 5 emulator device and with QueryAnalyzer for Mobile I could query existing tables in TestCompact.sdf. I don't know how to start replication synchronization on that mobile device. Do I need to write some C# code or it is possible do it more simple?
