  • HttpWebResonse hangs on multiple request

    - by Ehsan
    I've an application that create many web request to donwload the news pages of a web site (i've tested for many web sites) after a while I find out that the application slows down in fetching the html source then I found out that HttpWebResonse fails getting the response. I post only the function that do this job. public PageFetchResult Fetch() { PageFetchResult fetchResult = new PageFetchResult(); try { HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(URLAddress); HttpWebResponse resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); Uri requestedURI = new Uri(URLAddress); Uri responseURI = resp.ResponseUri; if (Uri.Equals(requestedURI, responseURI)) { string resultHTML = ""; byte[] reqHTML = ResponseAsBytes(resp); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(FetchingEncoding)) resultHTML = Encoding.GetEncoding(FetchingEncoding).GetString(reqHTML); else if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(resp.CharacterSet)) resultHTML = Encoding.GetEncoding(resp.CharacterSet).GetString(reqHTML); resp.Close(); fetchResult.IsOK = true; fetchResult.ResultHTML = resultHTML; } else { URLAddress = responseURI.AbsoluteUri; relayPageCount++; if (relayPageCount > 5) { fetchResult.IsOK = false; fetchResult.ErrorMessage = "Maximum page redirection occured."; return fetchResult; } return Fetch(); } } catch (Exception ex) { fetchResult.IsOK = false; fetchResult.ErrorMessage = ex.Message; } return fetchResult; } any solution would greatly appreciate

  • The OpenID Provider issued an assertion for an Identifier whose discovery information did not match

    - by Sohail
    I used sample code from DotNetOpenAuth.net to become my own OpenID Provider (OpenIDProviderWebForm) everything worked fine and I was able to test my OP against NerdDinner. now I want to customize the identifier like --- http://www.mydomain.com/user.aspx/Hash(Username+PrivateKey)~Username. everything works on OP side but on the NerdDinner application when the app tries to do HttpRequestInfo clientResponseInfo = new HttpRequestInfo("GET", auth, auth.PathAndQuery, headers, null); response = RelyingParty.GetResponse(clientResponseInfo); (you find these two lines of codes in AuthController.cs from NerdDinner) the response contains below error: The OpenID Provider issued an assertion for an Identifier whose discovery information did not match. • Fails proceeding after POSTing to web server

    - by OverTheRainbow
    Hello According to this question, it seems like the error "Too many automatic redirections were attempted" is caused when forgetting to use a cookiecontainer to connect to a web server that uses cookies to keep track of the user. However, even though I used "request.CookieContainer = MyCookieContainer", I'm still getting into an endless loop that is terminated by VB Express with this error message. Imports System.IO Imports System.Net 'Remember to add reference to System.Web DLL Imports System.Web Imports System.Text Public Class Form1 Const ConnectURL = "http://www.acme.com/logon.php" Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim request As HttpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create(ConnectURL) 'Build POST data request.Method = "POST" request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" Dim Data As New StringBuilder Data.Append("Account=" + HttpUtility.UrlEncode("jdoe")) Data.Append("&Password=" + HttpUtility.UrlEncode("test")) Dim byteData() As Byte byteData = UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(Data.ToString()) request.ContentLength = byteData.Length Dim postStream As Stream = Nothing Try postStream = request.GetRequestStream() postStream.Write(byteData, 0, byteData.Length) Finally If Not postStream Is Nothing Then postStream.Close() End Try 'Dim MyCookieContainer As New CookieContainer Dim MyCookieContainer As CookieContainer = New CookieContainer() request.CookieContainer = MyCookieContainer 'Makes no difference 'request.KeepAlive = True 'request.AllowAutoRedirect = True Dim response As HttpWebResponse 'HERE '"Too many automatic redirections were attempted" response = request.GetResponse() Dim reader As StreamReader = New StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()) RichTextBox1.Text = reader.ReadToEnd End Sub End Class This is probably a newbie issue, but I don't know what else to try. Any idea? Thank you for any hint.

  • Programmatically downloaded file is larger than it should be

    - by Dan Revell
    I'm trying to download a file from SharePoint. The file itself is an InfoPath template although this is probably inconsequential. If I put the url into internet explorer and save the file to disk, it comes in at 4.47KB and works correctly. If I try to download from the same Url in code the it comes back as 21.9KB and is corrupt. Why it's coming down as corrupt I'm trying to work out. The following are two ways of downloading the file that both produce the corrupt file at 21.9KB: /// web client { WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; wc.DownloadFile(templateUri, file); byte[] bytes = wc.DownloadData(templateUri); } /// web request { WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(templateUri); request.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; WebResponse responce = request.GetResponse(); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(responce.GetResponseStream()); byte[] bytes = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sr.ReadToEnd()); } And this is how I write the data to disk using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(file, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write)) { fs.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); }

  • Receive JSON payload with ZEND framework and / or PHP

    - by kent3800
    I'm receiving a JSON payload from a webservice at my site's internal webpage at /asset/setjob. The following is the JSON payload being posted to /asset/setjob: [{"job": {"source_filename": "beer-drinking-pig.mpg", "current_step": "waiting_for_file", "encoding_profile_id": "nil", "resolution": "nil", "status_url": "http://example.com/api/v1/jobs/1.json", "id": 1, "bitrate": "nil", "current_status": "waiting for file", "current_progress": "nil", "remote_id": "my-own-remote-id"}}] This payload posts one time to this page. The page is not meant for viewing but parsing the JSON object for the id and current_status so that I can insert it into a database. I'm using Zend framework. HOW DO I receive this payload in Zend? Do I $_GET['json']? $_POST['job']? None of these seem to work. I essentially need to assign this payload to a php variable so that I can then manipulate it. I've tried: $jsonStrGet = var_dump($_GET); $jsonStrPost = var_dump($_POST); And I've tried: $response = $this-getResponse(); $body = $response-getBody(); Blockquote Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

  • real time stock quotes, StreamReader performance optimization

    - by sean717
    I am working on a program that extracts real time quote for 900+ stocks from a website. I use HttpWebRequest to send HTTP request to the site and store the response to a stream and open a stream using the following code: HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); Stream stream = response.GetResponseStream (); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader( stream ) the size of the received HTML is large (5000+ lines), so it takes a long time to parse it and extract the price. For 900 files, It takes about 6 mins for parsing and extracting. Which my boss isn't happy with, he told me he'd want the whole process to be done in TWO mins. I've identified the part of the program that takes most of time to finish is parsing and extracting. I've tried to optimize the code to make it faster, the following is what I have now after some optimization: // skip lines at the top for(int i=0;i<1500;++i) reader.ReadLine(); // read the line that contains the price string theLine = reader.ReadLine(); // ... extract the price from the line now it takes about 4 mins to process all the files, there is still a significant gap to what my boss's expecting. So I am wondering, is there other way that I can further speed up the parsing and extracting and have everything done within 2 mins?

  • Using C# to HttpPost data to a web page

  • Why Response.Write behavior varies in the given scenario?

    - by Sri Kumar
    Hello All, When i POST the page using the following code, the Response.write("Hey") doesn't write the content ("Hello") to the parent page <form method="post" name="upload" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="http://localhost:2518/Web/CrossPage.aspx?cmd=getvalue" > <input type="file" name="filename" /> <input type="submit" value="Upload Data File" name="cmdSubmit" /> </form> But When i use following code , and POST the data, the Response.write("Hey") can be obtained in the parent page HttpWebRequest requestToSender = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://localhost:2518/Web/CrossPage.aspx?cmd=getvalue"); requestToSender.Method = "POST"; requestToSender.ContentType = "multipart/form-data"; HttpWebResponse responseFromSender = (HttpWebResponse)requestToSender.GetResponse(); string fromSender = string.Empty; using (StreamReader responseReader = new StreamReader(responseFromSender.GetResponseStream())) { fromSender = responseReader.ReadToEnd(); } In the CrossPage.aspx i have the following code if (!Page.IsPostBack) { NameValueCollection postPageCollection = Request.Form; foreach (string name in postPageCollection.AllKeys) { Response.Write(name + " " + postPageCollection[name]); } HttpFileCollection postCollection = Request.Files; foreach (string name in postCollection.AllKeys) { HttpPostedFile aFile = postCollection[name]; aFile.SaveAs(Server.MapPath(".") + "/" + Path.GetFileName(aFile.FileName)); } Response.Write("Hey"); } I don't have any code in the Page_Load event of parent page.? What could be the cause? I need to write the "hey" to the Parent page using the first scenario. Both the application are of different domain. Edit: "Hey" would be from the CrossPage.aspx. I need to write this back to the Parent Page

  • How can I write an XML on my hard drive to GetRequestStream

    - by swolff1978
    I need to post raw xml to a site and read the response. With the following code I keep getting an "Unknown File Format" error and I'm not sure why. XmlDocument sampleRequest = new XmlDocument(); sampleRequest.Load(@"C:\SampleRequest.xml"); byte[] bytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sampleRequest.ToString()); string uri = "https://www.sample-gateway.com/gw.aspx"; req = WebRequest.Create(uri); req.Method = "POST"; req.ContentLength = bytes.Length; req.ContentType = "text/xml"; using (var requestStream = req.GetRequestStream()) { requestStream.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); } // Send the data to the webserver rsp = req.GetResponse(); XmlDocument responseXML = new XmlDocument(); using (var responseStream = rsp.GetResponseStream()) { responseXML.Load(responseStream); } I am fairly certain my issue is what/how I am writing to the requestStream so.. How can I modify that code so that I may write an xml located on the hard drive to the request stream?

  • Multithreading A Function in VB.Net

  • How can I intercept an exception occurred during serialization in WCF?

    - by bonomo
    I have a legit data object with all data contract / data member attributes. For some reason the WCF service crashes after the operation has completed and the result is passed as a return value. I believe it has something to do with WCF not being able to serialize that result properly. The test client doesn't say anything specific: The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly. Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.HttpChannelUtilities.ProcessGetResponseWebException(WebException webException, HttpWebRequest request, HttpAbortReason abortReason) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.HttpChannelFactory.HttpRequestChannel.HttpChannelRequest.WaitForReply(TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.RequestChannel.Request(Message message, TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.RequestChannelBinder.Request(Message message, TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel.Call(String action, Boolean oneway, ProxyOperationRuntime operation, Object[] ins, Object[] outs, TimeSpan timeout) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannelProxy.InvokeService(IMethodCallMessage methodCall, ProxyOperationRuntime operation) at System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannelProxy.Invoke(IMessage message) Exception rethrown at [0]: at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type) at IFacade.PickSecurities(String pattern, Int32 atMost) at FacadeClient.PickSecurities(String pattern, Int32 atMost) Inner Exception: The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at System.ServiceModel.Channels.HttpChannelFactory.HttpRequestChannel.HttpChannelRequest.WaitForReply(TimeSpan timeout) I am in control of creating the instance of the service using a customized service host factory. I know I can set up trace listeners and check the logs, but it's a lot of hassle to do. So I would rather handle it explicitly on the server at the time it happens. So I how can I intercept that exception programmatically and return an appropriate fault meassage?

  • Calling web service from seems to hang

    - by anothershrubery
    I am trying to call an asmx web service from an Android app. Just literally started some Android development today. I've been following various solutions I have found on the net and on here and it seems it is more difficult than anticipated. I have tried various solutions and using KSoap2 seems to be the easiest way to implement this, well it would be if I could get it working. I have the following code which works up until a point: private class CallWebService extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void> { private static final String SOAP_ACTION = "http://tempuri.org/GetUser"; private static final String METHOD_NAME = "GetUser"; private static final String NAMESPACE = "http://tempuri.org/"; private static final String URL = "http://160.10.1.79:59315/Service1.asmx"; TextView tv; @Override protected Void doInBackground(Void... params) { tv=(TextView)findViewById(R.id.txtMessage); try { SoapObject request = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); envelope.dotNet=true; envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); HttpTransportSE androidHttpTransport = new HttpTransportSE(URL); androidHttpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); Object result = (Object)envelope.getResponse(); tv.setText(result.toString()); } catch (Exception e) { tv.setText(e.getMessage()); } return null; } } It seems to hang at the line androidHttpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); Any ideas why? Is this the correct approach? Should I be looking in another direction?

  • C# XML node with colon

This query has a prefix, variable, or user-defined function." The code is shown below: WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create("http://buypoe.com/external.php?type=RSS2&lastpost=true"); WebResponse response = request.GetResponse(); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(""); System.IO.StreamReader rssStream = new System.IO.StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream(), System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding("utf-8")); XmlDocument rssDoc = new XmlDocument(); rssDoc.Load(rssStream); XmlNodeList rssItems = rssDoc.SelectNodes("rss/channel/item"); for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { XmlNode rssDetail; rssDetail = rssItems.Item(i).SelectSingleNode("dc:creator"); if (rssDetail != null) { user = rssDetail.InnerText; } else { user = ""; } } I understand that I need to define the namespace, but am unsure how to do this. • My C# UploadFile method successfully uploads a file, but then my UI hangs...

    - by kyrathaba
    I have a simple WinForms test application in C#. Using the following method, I'm able to upload a file when I invoke the method from my button's Click event handler. The only problem is: my Windows Form "freezes". I can't close it using the Close button. I have to end execution from within the IDE (Visual C# 2010 Express edition). Here are the two methods: public void UploadFile(string FullPathFilename) { string filename = Path.GetFileName(FullPathFilename); try { FtpWebRequest request = (FtpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(_remoteHost + filename); request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.UploadFile; request.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(_remoteUser, _remotePass); StreamReader sourceStream = new StreamReader(FullPathFilename); byte[] fileContents = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(sourceStream.ReadToEnd()); request.ContentLength = fileContents.Length; Stream requestStream = request.GetRequestStream(); requestStream.Write(fileContents, 0, fileContents.Length); FtpWebResponse response = (FtpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); response.Close(); requestStream.Close(); sourceStream.Close(); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Upload error"); } finally { } } which gets called here: private void btnUploadTxtFile_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string username = "my_username"; string password = "my_password"; string host = "ftp://mywebsite.com"; try { clsFTPclient client = new clsFTPclient(host + "/httpdocs/non_church/", username, password); client.UploadFile(Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath) + "\\myTextFile.txt"); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Upload problem"); } }

    I have following c# code. It runs just fine when compiled against .NET framework 3.5 or 2.0 (I did not test it against 3.0, but it will most likely work too). The problem is, that it fails when built against .NET framework 4.0. FtpWebRequest Ftp = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create(Url_ + '/' + e.Name); Ftp.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.UploadFile; Ftp.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(Login_, Password_); Ftp.UseBinary = true; Ftp.KeepAlive = false; Ftp.UsePassive = true; Stream S = Ftp.GetRequestStream(); byte[] Content = null; bool Continue = false; do { try { Continue = false; Content = File.ReadAllBytes(e.FullPath); } catch (Exception) { Continue = true; System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(500); } } while (Continue); S.Write(Content, 0, Content.Length); S.Close(); FtpWebResponse Resp = (FtpWebResponse)Ftp.GetResponse(); if (Resp.StatusCode != FtpStatusCode.CommandOK) Console.WriteLine(Resp.StatusDescription); The problem is in call Stream S = Ftp.GetRequestStream();, which throws an en instance of WebException with message “The remote server returned an error: (500) Syntax error, command unrecognized”. Does anybody know why it is so? PS. I communicate virtual ftp server in ECM Alfresco.

After trying several different sets of code for WebRequest/WebResponse, WebClient, and Sockets, I finally found the following code that solved my problem: HttpWebRequest webReq; HttpWebResponse webResp = null; string Response = ""; Stream reqStream = null; webReq = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(strURL); Byte[] bytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("xml_doc=" + HttpUtility.UrlEncode(strQueryString)); webReq.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; webReq.Method = "POST"; webReq.ContentLength = bytes.Length; reqStream = webReq.GetRequestStream(); reqStream.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length); reqStream.Close(); webResp = (HttpWebResponse)webReq.GetResponse(); if (webResp.StatusCode == HttpStatusCode.OK) { StreamReader loResponseStream = new StreamReader(webResp.GetResponseStream(), Encoding.UTF8); Response = loResponseStream.ReadToEnd(); } webResp.Close(); reqStream = null; webResp = null; webReq = null;

  • Asp.Net 2 integrated sites How to Logout second site programatically.

    - by NBrowne
    Hi , I am working with an asp.net 2.0 site (call it site 1) which has an iframe in it which loads up another site (site2) which is also an asp.net site which is developed by our team. When you log onto site 1 then behind the scenes site 2 is also logged in so that when you click the iframe tab then this displays site 2 with the user logged in (to prevent the user from having to log in twice). The problem i have is that when a user logs out of site 1 then we call some cleanup methods to perform FormsAuthentication.SignOut and clean session variables etc but at the moment no cleanup is called when the user on site 2. So the issue is that if the user opens up Site 2 from within a browser then website 2 opens with the user still logged in which is undesired. Can anyone give me some guidance as to the best approach for this?? One possible approach i though of was just that on click of logout button i could do a call to a custom page on Site 2 which would do the logout. Code below HttpWebRequest request; request = ((HttpWebRequest)(WebRequest.Create("www.mywebsite.com/Site2Logout.aspx"))); request.Method = "POST"; HttpCookie cookie = HttpContext.Current.Request.Cookies[FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName]; Cookie authenticationCookie = new Cookie( FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, cookie.Value, cookie.Path, HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.Authority); request .CookieContainer = new CookieContainer(); request .CookieContainer.Add(authenticationCookie); response.GetResponse(); Problem i am having with this code is that when i run it and debug on Site 2 and check to see if the user is Authenticated they are not which i dont understand because if i open browser and browse to Site 2 i am Still authenticated. Any ideas , different direction to take etc ??? Please let me know if you need any more info or if i something i have said dosent make sense. Thanks
