• Problem in creating different types of columns in a Winforms gridview

  My windows form application has a grid view control with filename as a default column. User should create a column of following types Text, Number, Currency, Combo Box, Check Box, Radio Button ,Date time type (should display DateTimePicker control) and Hyper Link type. After that i want to pass all rows to next screen for further processing. We can create a column of these types in a grid view but how can i store it in a data table so that i can pass it to next screen. Or should i create a column in a data table and then assign data table to grid view by gridview.DataSource = dt; but can we create a these types of columns in a data table.

• In ASP.NET, Can I Delete a row in GridView while the primary key of that table is not loaded into the gridview?

  Hi, I have a table with primary key whose importance is technically high and none business wise. So, when I display the table data to user, I would like not to show him the primary key. Even if I load it in sqldatasource and dont show (I did this by removing the cloumn in "Columns" tag of GridView), I am not able to update or delete row using the built-in UpdateCommand & DeleteCommand. I have created the delete paramters but it does nothing when I hit the delete button. How to get around it? Thanks R S Reddy

  I have a ASP.NET GridView that i created on a page through SharePoint Designer 2007. For some reason it just does not want to work, why is that and how can i Fix it? Funny thing, it worked on another SharePoint Server but not on the one i am working on now, so i know my code is fine, it must be something ells on the SharePoint Server maybe? • Passing more than one argument in asp.net button in gridview

  I have a TemplateField column in a gridview with a button inside of it. There is NO key value (surely that was not designed by me) , but in the other hand there aren't redundancies when comparing each single column, because they are events, and there is "starting date" and "ending date" of something that could not happen twice at the same time. I've already figured selecting with these values and all, but I just want the button to pass about five arguments to a given function. I've tested: <asp:Button CommandArgument='<%# Eval("day")%>' ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button" /> And it works properly, the day of the clicked row is passed, and could be retrieved through: e.CommandArgument.ToString(); in the GridView_RowCommand handler. How do I pass more than one argument? I've thought about concatenating with a separating character (wouldn't be that bad) but besides not knowing how to do it yet (didn't want to invest in a poor solution) I want a smarter one.

  Hi, I'm binding a GridView to a domain model object, this domain model object has a method for working out a formatted value to display on the grid. I'd like to use this method for my display value, which is fine, but I'd also like to be able to sort on the value returned by that method. My sort expression can only take in a property/field at the moment. Help please! What do I need to do to get this to work? I'm using an SPGridView actually, but that doesn't make a lot of difference to my problem. Thanks.

  While reskining GridView (ListView with more columns), I ran into a problem, that I couldn't change the color of the Highlighted row. I searched the internet and found out, that adding this can help. <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.ControlBrushKey}" Color="Transparent" /> This solved the issue for some people but it didnt help me. The Highlight color was still in system default. I finally managed to change the color of the selected row, but the highlight is still visible around the border of the row plus i need to get rid of the Highlight in the ColumnHeaders. So far, I've done something similar to this: TemplateField foo = new TemplateField(); foo.ItemTemplate = new bar(); this.GridView1.Columns.Add(foo); where bar is like this: public class bar : ITemplate { public bar() { } public void InstantiateIn(Control container) { DropDownList ddl = new DropDownList(); container.Controls.Add(ddl); } } (the actual dropdownlist is populated) But ITemplate doesn't contain any kind of data binding properties to implement, and the TemplateField class doesn't seem to have any either... What do I do?

  My question is how can I display a linq query in a gridview that has data from multiple tables AND allow the user to edit some of the fields or delete the data from a single table? I'd like to do this with either a linqdatasource or a linq query. I'm aware I can set the e.Result to the query on the selecting event. I've also been able to build a custom databound control for displaying the linq relations (parent.child). However, I'm not sure how I can make this work with delete? I'm thinking I may need to handle the delete event with custom code.

  I am stumped on this one. I want to modify the text in a Hyperlinkfield of Gridview after the data is bound to it. I found similar code to this on msdn and I can't get it to work. protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { e.Row.Cells[2].Text = e.Row.Cells[2].Text + "random text"; } I also tried similar code in the Page_PreRender event with no luck. I have also tried calling DataBind() before this one line of code with no help. I always just get "random text" in the cell without the data from the DB. Thanks

• ScrollViewer GridView XAML

  I am currently building a Windows 8 XAML C# application. In a page I have a scrollviewer for horizontal swiping and scrolling. I have several controls in it which work really well with the scorllviewer. But when you scroll and your cursor is on top of the ListView / GridView, then that control will handle scrollnig instead of the scrollviewer. With swiping this doesn't happen, but with the mouse scrollwheel it stops the scrollvieweing scroll. Does anybody know how to disable this behavior or have a workaround?

• GridView items are displaying the wrong drawables sometimes.

  I've implemented a GridView based on this tutorial. It works great unless open up the search dialog or rotate the screen then scroll around. When the search dialog and virtual keyboard appear, the drawables for each of my grid items shift. I can click on them and they do what I expect, except the drawable is wrong. The same problem happens when I go into landscape mode and scroll around. If I scroll down, up, the down again, the drawables are shuffled. For better illustration, let's say I have three objects, each with an image. Obj A shows an Apple Obj B shows a Banana Obj C shows a Cantaloupe When the shift occurs I end up with: Obj A shows an Cantaloupe Obj B shows a Banana Obj C shows a Apple The problem isn't consistent between the two causes (search dialog and screen rotate n' scroll), but each cause itself is consistent. Scrolling around repeatedly reveals a pattern as does the search dialog appearing. How can I stop this from happening?

  hi i have a page filling a gridview which is all working fine. the grid is basically the result of a search .. the filters for which are a number of dropdowns and a couple of textboxes the data from the grid and dropdowns are saved in the session and the whole page lives inside an updatepanel when i navigate away from the page (as it happens by clicking a link inside the grid) and then back button to it, all the droppers are back to their unselected values and the grid is nowhere to be seen.. i understand that this is because of the scriptmanager doesnt do 'standard' postbacks so the browser doesnt realise what has happened. however i have set the EnableHistory to true in the scriptmanager is there an easy way to get this to remember without dropping the updatepanel/scriptmanager? also to complicate things further the scriptmanger /updatepanel is actually in a master page. so not really sure how i can get the navigate bits to work in the scriptmanager.. clearly i am a bit confuised and any help that someone could provide would be happily received thanks nat

  I have a grid view containing checkboxes and a great deal of problems surrounding it. First of all the page on_load and on_init gets called twice. The first call says it's a postback and the second isn't. If I check for postbacks, during the second call the change of state (i.e. A button_click event that was supposed to refresh the data in the grid) that triggered during the first call does not register. If I don't check for postbacks, checkboxes in the GridView do not retain its state by the second call to OnLoad/OnInit.

  I have built a dynamic gridview using the following code grdVariants.Columns.Clear(); int i = 0; foreach (DataColumn column in options.Columns) { grdVariants.Columns.Add(new GridViewColumn { Header = column.ColumnName, DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", i++)) }); } This will dynamically generate my columns at runtime, I then bind the data using lstVariantsGrid.DataContext = options; lstVariantsGrid.Items.Refresh(); This all works great and shows the data in the correct columns etc, the only issue i have is that I can't style the rows like I would in xaml as it is all an unknown quantity until runtime. Can anyone offer some advice on how I might go about doing this? One of the biggest problems I have is that one of the columns needs to display the image rather than just the path which it currently shows, as well as fiddling with fonts and colors etc. Thanks for your time.

  Hi there I am new at this so please bear with me... I have managed to get the following code to work...so when I click on the "select" link in each row of the gridview, the data is transfered to other label/textbox on the webpage. So far so good, the thing is that everytime I click on select...it goes and checks on the database for the data and there is a delay of a few seconds... I was hoping that the data, since it is already visible on the gridrows, is simply "picked up" and used on other labels/textboxes...without requerying the database. Is this possible ?   Hi, If you have a ListView with its view set as a GridView, which itself contains columns for each month say.....how do I set a template up for the ItemTemplate of the ListView so that each Item will be three rows high, and be inline with the ListView.View's columns?
