  • remove ssl from Google search results

    I am the webadmin of a WordPress site that serves up http pages statically. The problem is that some of the pages are shown as https in Google search results. For instance, if the search term "Example Press Kit" is entered the search result site link comes up as: https://example.com/presskit/ We don't have a site ssl certificate, so surfers are being bounced. I have tried everything. Most recently I created a new website in Google WebAdmin for the https version of our home page. Then, I added sitelinks that should have redirected site links intended for https://example.com/* to http://example.com/*. But it doesn't work! Google still shows a dead link to http://example.com/presskit. I didn't think dead links lasted very long on Google results, but there they are, two weeks later. Any ideas?

I could use Artha or keybinding (as alternative), or both? How to do that in each case? and "The command I gave you will open google translate in Firefox with your mouse selection (text highlighted) as a query. Use sh -c 'firefox "https://www.google.com/search?q=$(xclip -o)"' if you want regular Google over Google translate. And obviously, that would work everywhere" I do not know what to do with that formula. What should I do exactly? How to use it? In what application?

  • Search engine bots accessing strange URLs

    We have ELMAH enabled on our site and get errors whenever a Page Not Found error is triggered on the website. We have recently redesigned a new website and so we understand that search engine robots might have previously indexed pages which they try to access and result in a Page Not Found errors. For this reason, we have set up permanent redirects for such previously indexed pages to the respective new pages. The website in mention is www.chambercollege.com and for example, a previously indexed URL was www.chambercollege.com/special-offers.aspx. This page is no longer accessible so we have created the necessary permanent redirect to redirect to the respective page on www.chambercollege.com/en/content/special-offers-161/. Now we are starting to receive Page Not Found errors of search engine bots (e.g. MSN bot) trying to access the URL www.chambercollege.com/special-offers.aspx/images/shadow_right.jpg/. Any idea how could a search engine make up that strange URL and whether you have any suggestions of what to do best?

  • Google Site Search (commercial) not indexing files in sitemap

    I have a client for whom we have purchased Google Site Search. It works well for HTML pages served by the CMS, but files aren't being reliably indexed. I wrote a script to generate an XML feed (sitemap) of all the files in the CMS which I've plugged in to Google Webmaster Tools for the site. It says that for that sitemap 923 URLs have been submitted, but only 26 have been indexed. The client relies heavily on searching within files, which is why we decided to use Google search, so this is a bit of a problem. Many of the files aren't linked to from any page on the site, as they are old and therefore don't merit having a page of their own. But they still need to be accessible through search for archiving purposes. The file archive xml can be found at www.sniffer.org.uk/file-archive and the standard xml sitemap (of pages) can be found at www.sniffer.org.uk/sitemap.xml. Any thought would be much appreciated!

  • Javascript Only Search Method [on hold]

    I need to put a search function on a website that is going to be on a CD-ROM with no access to the internet. It has 80 pages, and about 500 'items', so I'd prefer to not have to hard code 100's of 'if statements if possible. I've found a few programs you can buy that will index and generate results (Zoom Search, JSS Index, The German Guys') but there are odd quirks with each one. Plus I would rather code it myself to get complete control over it, and to really understand what it's doing. Basically searching for a few words would display the product image and description; clicking on that would take you the related URL. This is kind of complicated, I can't find an easy solution not dealing with hundreds of if Statements. Has anyone ever created anything like this or know a better method? I'm not really sure a better way to go about this. I've used PHP/MYSQL for search results before, but this cannot run any php.

I am concerned that if you search on the exact app name, it does not show up in the results, even if you click "show more". https://play.google.com/store/search?q=free+graphing+calculator&c=apps It does show up if you put the name in quotes. But that's awfully low discoverability. https://play.google.com/store/search?q=%22free%20graphing%20calculator%22&c=apps Possibly relevant information: I had an earlier version with a different bundle ID. It was up for just an hour or so, and probably never actually visible to users. How can I fix this?

    I want to create a basic search engine, and I want you to give me some ideas how to filter out the best results for my visitors. I have three fields regarding a product the user can search in: Title Category Description I came up with these ideas and I ask you to either competently criticize them or add to them. If the search term occurs in all three fields it should be among the first results. If it is in two of the fields it is below the results of 1. Combine the amount of occurences and output a value in per cent. For instance if in all fields together the term clock appeared 50 times and in all fields together there are 200 words, then the per cent value is 50/200*100 = 25%. Another product entry amounts to say 20% so product one having 25% is listed before product two having 20%.

  • Rotating images with PHP reduces quality especially over about 10-20 actions

    I am using this code below to rotate my jpeg images, the problem is that after around 10-20 times of rotating the image the image is dramatically lower quality, especially blue skies and such, my question is how can I keep these images the same high quality image? There must be a way. I mean, i keep the original image on the server for each image uploaded, and I don't do anything to that, so if need be it, I guess I could always come up with some way of using that over whenever possible..   • Issue with WIC image resizing on ASP.NET MVC 2

    I am attempting to implement image resizing on user uploads in ASP.NET MVC 2 using a version of the method found: here on asp.net. This works great on my dev machine, but as soon as I put it on my production machine, I start getting the error 'Exception from HRESULT: 0x88982F60' which is supposed to mean that there is an issue decoding the image. However, when I use WICExplorer to open the image, it looks ok. I've also tried this with dozens of images of various sources and still get the error (though possible, I doubt all of them are corrupted).     Is there an alternative to trying to remember all the advanced search options? Like an actual GUI as we had for windows XP? As powerful as Windows Search apparently is, I cannot possibly remember all the options available. How is a mere mortal like my Dad supposed to understand and retain all this? I get the shakes every time i need to find something on Win 7. Anyone have some relief? Part 2: Why does it RE-run a search if i add a column and try to sort on that?

    My SSRS report loads logo images for each customer from a customer number specific folder on the report server. I write an expression, to form my URL to the image based on th customer number. ..."http://localhost/images/" + iCustomerNumber.ToString() + "/logo.gif" I am able to get this working, but the problem I face is, when a particular customer doesn't has an image, then my report shows a red X mark in place of the logo. In this case, I expect to hide the image control itself. Any thoughts???? The other dirty solution will be to ensure that each customer specific folder has the designated image! even if there is no logo for a customer, I'll place a blank.gif or a spacer.gif of probably a square pixel in dimension!.

    Good morning everyone, Actually I'm having a small issue in image processing and I'm in need of some help. First of all, let me explain what i want to do, i have an image that was split into 4 other small images. I currently have like 6 small images that i need to figure out which ones are part of the real image. Second, what i currently know is that that i should compare these images edges or last column with the first column of the other image. I'm not sure yet what exactly should be done, anyone is able to put me on the same tracks, with some detailed hints and how to compare the edges of 2 images.     I am creating a Domino Document via AJAX that contains a photo. I am able to get the base64 image data back to the server in a Notes Domino Document. Data is stored in a Richtext (textarea) field as "data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wBDAFA..........." - (this goes on for several lines) I am trying to display on the Domino Webpage using passthru tag <<image id= "pic1" >> in the onLoad event of the Form i try to shove the data into the image element using this code: //Photo Stuff alert(document.forms[0].photo1.value); document.getElementById("pic1").src = document.forms[0].photo1.value; The alert is showing the data.     I've been implementing MS Search Server 2010 and so far its really good. Im doing the search queries via their web service, but due to the inconsistent results, im thinking about caching the result instead. The site is a small intranet (500 employees), so it shouldnt be any problems, but im curious what approach you would take if it was a bigger site. I've googled abit, but havent really come over anything specific. So, a few questions: What other approaches are there? And why are they better? How much does it cost to store a dataview of 400-500 rows? What sizes are feasible? Other points you should take into consideration. Any input is welcome :)

  • Dynamically reducing image dimension as well as image size in C#

    I have an image gallery that is created using a repeater control. The repeater gets bound inside my code behind file to a table that contains various image paths. The images in my repeater are populated like this <img src='<%# Eval("PicturePath")' %>' height='200px' width='150px'/> (or something along those lines, I don't recall the exact syntax) The problem is sometimes the images themselves are massive so the load times are a little ridiculous. And populating a 150x200px image definitely should not require a 3MB file. Is there a way I can not only change the image dimensions, but shrink the file size down as well? Thanks!
