    Hello all,am new here. i have a slight problem; PLease look at the following code and tell me if am doing something wrong because the image is not displaying. i have made it really small so it should fit but its not displaying. i have images displaying in other screens but this main midlet would not.     Ok, I have Netbeans 6.7.1 installed with the default Java SDK. I'm using Linux Mint. Now I'm told that I have to download Java Platform Micro Edition Software Development Kit 3.0 So, should I download this? And once I download and install this in Linux, what do I have to install for Netbeans so I can create a Mobile Application? I'm fairly new to this environment so please any advice is welcome! :)

    Hi, I want to process raw data from a picture taken in java me with byte[] snap = videoControl.getSnapshot(encoding); My question is, whether I should try working already with snap or should I first create the image from this array Image im = Image.createImage(snap, 0, snap.length); and then work with that? Or is there some better documentation of both methods, i.e. getSnapshot and createImage than the Java API reference?

  • Confusion with MIDlet attributes in a JAD file

    "MicroEdition-Profile" can have multiple values separated by space in the JAD file, where as "MicroEdtion-Configuration" can have only one value. According to JTWI specifications, Minimum requirement for MIDP is 2.0, so this gives us only one option (MIDP 2.0) to put in the JAD file Minimum requirement for CLDC is 1.0, so this gives us two options to put in the JAD file ie: CLDC1.0 and CLDC2.0 I can create an application which is compatible with CLDC1.0 and 1.1. Why are multiple values allowed for Profile attribute but only one value is allowed for Configuration attribute?

  • MIDlet + BlackBerry API = verification error?

    Hi, Is there any way to write a MIDlet, but still use BlackBerry API classes and functions (including the APIs that require code signing)? In particular, I'm trying to use Kuix (http://www.kalmeo.org/projects/kuix). A pure MIDlet + Kuix (so without BlackBerry stuff) works perfectly after I converted the jar/jad to a cod file. As soon as I add BlackBerry API-stuff (CoverageInfo.COVERAGE_DIRECT in this case) I get a verification error when trying to run the cod file: Error starting $name: Module $name has verification error 2410 at offset 9a4f What can I do to solve this?

  • Font advance calculation problem on Blackberry OS 5.0

    I am currently working on my own implementation of a tab bar for a BlackBerry app, where each tab bar has a title that is right aligned (i.e. the last character in each should be the same distance from the right hand side of the screen). To work out where to draw the text I am using the following calculation: screen width - advance of title - indent. The font I am using is 'BBAlpha Sans' (height 28). Using BlackBerry OS 4.6 everything seems to be calculated properly and the text is aligned when I move between tabs, however I am finding that when I use OS 5.0 it doesn't calculate the advance properly and as a result the alignment is off by maybe 5 pixels or so. With the default font (also BBAlpha Sans, but height 24 - for OS 5.0 at least) it works fine in both versions.. but I don't necessarily always want to use the default font/size, so any ideas what could be going wrong?     Hello, I'm pretty new to Java ME and i'm trying to use Microlog to handle logging in my midlet. In eclipse i can reference Microlog jars and it's all good in dev time, but when i try to launch the application the jars aren't found on the device. How can i bundle those referenced libs into my midlet? Thanks.

Well I came from PHP and ECMAScripts where I was able to pass my function arguments this way so I really don't understand this error.

  • FileConnection Blackberry memory usage

    Hello, I'm writing a blackberry application that reads ints and strings out of a database. This is my first time dealing with reading/writing on the blackberry, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. The database file I'm reading is only about 4kB I open the file with the following code fconn = (FileConnection) Connector.open("file_path_here", Connector.READ); if(fconn.exists()==false){fconn.close();return;} is = fconn.openDataInputStream(); while(!eof){ //etc... } is.close(); fconn.close(); The problem is, this code appears to be eating a LOT of memory. Using breakpoints and the "Memory Statistics" view, I determined the following: calling "Connector.open" creates 71 objects and changes "RAM Bytes in use" by 5376 calling "fconn.openDataInputStream();" increases RAM usage by a whopping 75920 Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong? And how can I fix this? 75MB of RAM is a LOT of memory to waste on a handheld device, especially when the file I'm reading is only 4kB and I haven't even begun reading any data! How is this even possible?

    I've read a lot of comments mention in passing that the BlackBerry threading model deviates from the Java standard and can cause issues, but no amount of googling has enlightened me on what this means exactly. I've been developing a fairly large business application for the BlackBerry and, although I don't really have any previous experience with Java multi-threaded applications, haven't come across any issue that we've been able to blame on threading, other than what we caused ourselves. Can someone describe exactly how the BlackBerry threading model is different, and how I as a developer should take that into account? Obviously any links on the topic would also be great.
