    I have the following setup: Two servers with DRBD running dual primary with OCFS2 Heartbeat with two virtual ips, one for each server Round robin DNS to load balance NFS across the two vIPs Shutting down Server1 for a period of time, cause Server2 to take over the vIP for failover. However, when Server1 returns - it takes over the designated vIP as soon as heartbeat gets connection again - even though the DRBD is running sync (and thus not up to date) How can I configure heartbeat to perform failback as soon as Server1 again is in sync with Server2 ? (And not before)

  • Virtual Server 2005 VSS writer missing

    I have two servers running Virtual server 2005 R2 SP1. I'm using Symantec Backup Exec 10d for backups. One server runs the backups fine but the other will cause the vm's to crash when it tries to backup. I think the problem is because the "Microsoft Vitual Server 2005 Writer" is not showing up when I run "vssadmin list writers". Can I install the writer without reinstalling VS 2005?

  • ASP.NET MVC app on IIS7 with WebForms content is throwing NTLM authenticate box

    I have an ASP.NET MVC app that also contains some WebForms content (for SSRS ReportViewer). This is deployed to IIS7 and the MVC pages of the app work fine, but when I try to browse to the aspx page I am prompted with the NTLM auth box. I do not have NTLM enabled, I only have Anonymous auth enabled. I have this deployed and fully working on an IIS6 box, the only other difference is that the IIS6 box is in our company domain, but the IIS7 box is not (I fail to see how this could be the issue as the MVC stuff is working fine). Any thoughts? Thanks.

  • What to do when launchpad is down?

    As I am writing this (Friday, November 8, 2013 at 9:59:18 PM EST) launchpad is down. Apparently there is a power failure (https://twitter.com/launchpadstatus/status/398980619880775680). I tried running sudo apt-get update on my Ubuntu install. However, I simply get stuck on this: Ign http://ppa.launchpad.net precise InRelease 100% [Waiting for headers] Being a Ubuntu newbie, I tried to point my sources.list file to a different source. I backed up the original sources.list and then deleted the entire file to start afresh. I then added the following lines to it: deb http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu/ precise main deb-src http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu/ precise main I figured that since I have a different mirror, there would be no problem updating. I was wrong. I get stuck at the same place. I have several questions: Why do I need to hit launchpad? I do not reference it in my sources.list file at all. Is this something where the mirror redirects me to launchpad? Is there a good article out there that I can read on how exactly this whole apt-get update thing works that will help me understand why it is hitting launchpad? Is there any way to get my Ubuntu to update while launchpad is down? Isn't there any redundancy for the launchpad servers?

  • Web filtering (Proxy or DNS) with option for users to ignore the block

    We are struggling with our users visiting infected or "attack" sites and Phising in general. Most of our machines are protected by an Enterprise anti virus and monitoring solution (McAffe ePO) and we try to get people to use Firefox... But no AV is perfect and we have to endure personal machines as well (albeit on their own 'Plague' VLANs) and would like to do something about Phishing as our users seem intent on disclosing their passwords to the world... To complicate matters we don't want to implement a block for many many reasons instead we would like to implement something akin to Firefox's "Reported Scam/Phish/Attack Site" - "Get me out of here" or crucially "Let me in anyway", giving the user a choice to still infect themselves if they feel like it (or look at a site incorrectly blacklisted). The reason we can't just use Firefox is we have a core enterprise App only certified on IE6&7 - thank you Oracle.   • Why is Apple System Image Utility so slow?

    I'm using Apple System Image Utility (SIU) on Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I am rather disturbed it takes over Three hours to make a Netrestore or Netboot image. I'm using as the donor machine a brand new iMac and as the imaging machine a brand new iMac connected using target disk mode & Firewire 800. The hard drive size and subsequent image is about 8GB. To restore the image over the network takes about 4 minutes. Given that Norton Ghost will take an image in about 5 minutes (or less on newer machines) over USB2, why is the Mac over an order of magnitude slower?

  • VMWare Guest Info - Wrong IP Returned

    We're running a VDI environment with vSphere 4.0 and Oracle VDI 3.2.2 and are having a bit of a problem with users that connect to an IPSec VPN from within their VM. For some reason, once connected to the VPN, the VMWare API returns GuestInfo.ipAddress as the VPN IP rather than the primary IP of the only NIC on the system. The IP address shown in net[0].ipAddress is the correct address and is what vSphere client is reporting. Is there any way to get VMWare tools to report the net[0].ipAddress as GuestInfo.ipAddress? Below is sample output from the guestinfo.pl script. 172.16.1.2 is the example "bad" VPN address that our VDI software is seeing.     I'm monitoring Sun hardware using SNMP to gather information from the LOM card. One of the datapoints I'm monitoring is a voltage status MIB which alerts if any of the internal voltages becomes too high or low - with the thresholds being set, presumably, by Sun at the time of manufacture. These trigger with surprising frequency - is this anything to worry about?

  • Scan to email messages downloaded by POP connector on SBS 2008 are delivered to badmail folder.

    I have a Kyocera MFD. I have it set to scan to email using the ISP's SMTP server. The messages are delivered and received by the hosted email server. The POP connector on the SBS server downloads the messages, but delivers them to the badmail folder. I have given the message a subject and a body.   • How to load powershell profile from cygwin bash?

    So in cygwin bash I am able to type "powershell" to bring me into a powershell prompt but it won't load my powershell profile.ps1 due to not being able to execute scripts, but I can't set the execution policy in this prompt... So I tried running the default powershell prompt (as administrator) and was able to set the execution policy to remote signed, but it doesn't affect the powershell within bash what am I missing?

  • How do I enable write access for an sFTP only user under Ubuntu?

    I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 and am trying to configure a user to allow chroot'd sFTP connections to another section of the filesystem. I've added the following to my /etc/ssh/sshd_config file: Match Group mygroup X11Forwarding no AllowTcpForwarding no ForceCommand internal-sftp ChrootDirectory /home/%u I've set their home directory so that it's owned by root but has their group. I've created a mount --bind from /home/myuser/transfers to /my/filesystem which appears to be navigable. The problem I'm having is that I'm not able to write to any part of the filesystem which makes this pretty useless as an FTP server. What am I missing? What can I check?

  • 403 on localhost with WAMP and windows 7

    Hi, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm new to web development and I'm trying to set up a local server using WAMP. My problem is when I try to access localhost or localhost/index.php I get a 403 error. I can access http://localhost/myphpadmin so I think this is a permissions issue but I have full access (or so I think) over the folder. Thanks

  • Trying to understand why VLANs need to be created on intermediate switches

    I'm currently studying for the Cisco switching exam and having trouble understanding exactly how 802.1q tagging works. Given three daisy chained switches (A,B, and C) with trunk ports between them and VLAN 101 defined on both end switches (A and C), I'm not sure why the VLAN also needs to be defined on the middle one (B)? Note that I am not disputing that it does need to be configured, I'm just trying to understand why exactly. As I understand it, traffic from VLAN 101 on switch A will be tagged as it goes through the trunk to switch B. According to the documentation I have read, trunks will pass all VLANs by default, and the .1q tag is only removed when the frame leaves through an access port on the relevant VLAN. From this I would expect switch B to simply forward the tagged frame unchanged through the trunk to switch C. Can anyone shed some light on how switch B processes this frame and why it does not get forwarded through the other trunk ?

    We have a custom MembershipProvider implementation using form-based authentication (FBA) under Sharepoint 2007. I've searched high and low on Google, but only found: Active directory and FBA implementations to allow users to change their own password Active directory instructions (including video!) for administrators to change other users' passwords Have we missed an option to enable the latter under FBA? Should this work by default and is the MembershipProvider misbehaving? The procedure to do this as under active directory would be ideal, but the "Change Password" link does not appear in the Edit User screen. We verified that the logged-in user is a site collection administrator.
