  Hello, assume I have a such html order <div id="header">>Header(logo, navigation menus etc)will be here, fixed height </div> <div id="content"> Dynamic content with different length will be here. </div> <div id="footer"> Footer of the page here, fixed height </div> Now as you can see, it is only the content div which will be changing in size as the length changes. I want to make sure the screen is used even if the height of the content is less than to fill the whole. (in other words minimum height of the content will be screen (height in pixel) - ( (height of header) + (height of footer) ) Now I can see that min-widht can be used but it is not supported with IE, how can I achieve this issue ?

  Say I have this column returned in a command for Crystal: deposit_no 123 130 125 124 126 127 128 129 and I need to have this in the report title: Includes deposits between 123 - 130 I've tried a running formula for minimum and maximum and they aren't returning the correct values no matter how I manipulate them. I've tried evaluate for every record, on change of the deposit_no field, etc. I have no grouping on this report. Edited to add: While I preferred to handle this on the CR side of things, I changed my command to include what mson wrote below. So technically, mson had the correct answer.

  I need information about minimum hardware requirement I need to have better experience in developing Android application. My current configuration is as follows. P4 3.0 GHz, 512 MB of ram. Started with Hello Android development on my machine and experience was sluggish, was using Eclipse Helios for development. Emulator used to take lot of time to start. And running program too. Do I need to upgrade my machine for the development purpose or is there anything else I am missing on my machine(like heavy processing by some other application I might have installed). And If I do need to upgrade, do I need to upgrade my processor too(that counts to new machine actually, which I am not in favor of), or only upgrading RAM will suffice.

• How to use xcode compiler warnings to determine minimum IOS deployment target

  I'm building an iOS app using Xcode 3.2.5 with the Base SDK set to iOS 4.2 I know I've used some api's from 4.0 and 4.1 but not sure about whether I actually require 4.2. According to the iOS Development Guide, "Xcode displays build warnings when it detects that your application is using a feature that’s not available in the target OS release". So I was hoping to use the compiler warnings to derive my minimum OS requirement. However, even when I set my iOS Deployment Target to iOS 3.0, I still don't get any compiler warnings. I must be doing something wrong, but not sure what? Can anyone confirm that they get compiler warnings when the iOS deployment target is less than the base SDK and the code uses base SDK functions? Or do the compiler warnings only show if you link a framework that didn't exist in the iOS deployment target version?

• sizeToFit label voids align right / set minimum width of label

  Here is my code I am using to make a label (which contains content of an unknown length) the correct height for the content. (lines is equal to 0) myLabel.text =[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", myLabelContent]; myLabel.frame = CGRectMake(myLabel.frame.origin.x, myLabel.frame.origin.y, myLabel.frame.size.width, 800); [myLabel sizeToFit]; The only problem is, it is resizing the width as well as the height. I have two labels side by side, one aligned left, one aligned right. The left aligned one works fine. However, the right aligned one becomes intended (from the right). Because of its width resize, the content always starts at the origin.x position (in effect) because the label is made to be the shortest width required. I hope that makes sense. Is there a way to override or reset the width after auto resize had solved the height problem, or set a minimum width for the label? Many Thanks in advance, Deco

  Hi all, I have this query: SELECT DISTINCT brand_name FROM masterdata WHERE in_stock = '1' ORDER BY brand_name It works well, except that I get far too many results. How do I limit this such that rather than just looking for distinct entries, it will only give me distinct entries that exist a minimum of 3 times (for example)? Basically, if the column had this data... brand_name ========== apple banana apple apple orange banana orange orange ...my current query would return "apple, banana, orange". How do I get it such that it only returns "apple, orange" (ignoring banana because it has less than three occurrences)? I'm using PHP to build the query, if it matters. Thanks!

• Setting minimum threads in thread pool

  I have an application with 4 worker threads from the thread pool. It was waking up every 0.5 second. as written in msdn the thread pool monitors every 0,5 second to create idle threads. I set the nuber of minimum threads to 4 and it solved the problem - no more background activity all the time. My question is - I have another applicatiopn which has the same number of threads threads-4, but here setting min thread to 4 doesn't help but when setting min thread to 5 then the background monitoring stops. What might be the difference between 2 application with the same number of threads from the thread pool- 4 threads.On one setting min threads to 4 helps and the other only setting min threads to 5 helps?

  I am trying to let my XML schema handle a little traceability functionality as I'm gathering requirements while I read through some functional specifications. (Not ideal for requirement management, but at least its a start.) What I'm doing is creating a <functionalSpec tag for each functional specification I am currently reading through. I create a <requirement tag for each requirement I find. Since I want to be able to trace where the requirement came from, I create a <trace element with the id of the <functionalSpec element. Instead of allowing myself to enter any plain-old-text in the <functionalSpecId tag, I want the XSD to validate and make sure that I only enter in an id that exists for an existing functional spec. My problem is coming in where it seems the XML Schema W3C Recommendations documentation says that what I want to do is not possible. (about 1/2 way down) {selector} specifies a restricted XPath ([XPath]) expression relative to instances of the element being declared. This must identify a node set of subordinate elements (i.e. contained within the declared element) to which the constraint applies. I'm using Oxygen to create this since I'm fairly new to XSD files, and it gives me the following error: E [Xerces] Identity Constraint error: identity constraint "KeyRef@1045a2" has a keyref which refers to a key or unique that is out of scope. So my question is does anyone know of a way that will allow me to use the same XML structure that I have below through using XSD? • Minimum needs to Deploy SQL Server Integration Services 2008

  Hi, I would like to run SSIS 2008 packages on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it. I have a simple package to test the concept, but it fails to execute. The return code is 9020 which I have not seen listed as a return code elsewhere. I have copied the following files to the test server that does not have SQL Server 2008 installed on it: SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig Package.dtsx DTExec.exe I am attempting to run the package using a batch file. The line in the batch file that runs the package is: "%dtexecloc%\dtexec.exe" /FILE "%packagefolder%\Package.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "%configfolder\SelfContainedSample.dtsConfig" /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E %logfile% set rc=%errorlevel% I am wondering if there are other requirements that need to be satified to run an SSIS 2008 package on a server that does not have SQL Server 2008 on it? .NET Runtime? • WP7 Tips–Part I– Media File Coding Techniques to help pass the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Certification Requirements

  Overview Developing an application that plays media files on a Windows Phone 7 Device seems fairly straight forward.  However, what can make this a bit frustrating are the necessary requirements in order to pass the WP7 marketplace requirements so that your application can be published.  If you are new to this development, be aware of these common challenges that are likely to be made.  Below are some techniques and recommendations on how optimize your application to handle playing MP3 and/or WMA files that needs to adhere to the marketplace requirements.   Windows Phone 7 Certification Requirements Windows Phone 7 Developers Blog   Some common challenges are: Not prompting the user if another media file is playing in the background before playing your media file Not allowing the user to control the volume Not allowing the user to mute the sound Not allowing the media to be interrupted by a phone call  To keep this as simple as possible I am only going to focus on what “not to do” and what “to do” in order to implement a simple media solution. Things you will need or may be useful to you before you begin: Visual Studio 2010 Visual Studio 2010 Feature Packs Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone Windows Phone Emulator Resources Silverlight 4 Tools For Visual Studio XNA Game Studio 4.0 Microsoft Expression Blend for Windows Phone Note: Please keep in mind you do not need all of these downloaded and installed, it is just easier to have all that you need now rather than add them on later.   Objective Summary Create a Windows Phone 7 – Windows Media Sample Application.  The application will implement many of the required features in order to pass the WP7 marketplace certification requirements in order to publish an application to WP7’s marketplace. (Disclaimer: I am not trying to indicate that this application will always pass as the requirements may change or be updated)   Step 1: – Create a New Windows Phone 7 Project   Step 2: – Update the Title and Application Name of your WP7 Application For this example I changed: the Title to: “DOTNETNUZZI WP7 MEDIA SAMPLE - v1.00” and the Page Title to:  “media magic”. Note: I also updated the background.   Step 3: – XAML - Media Element Preparation and Best Practice Before we begin the next step I just wanted to point out a few things that you should not do as a best practice when developing an application for WP7 that is playing music.  Please keep in mind that these requirements are not the same if you are playing Sound Effects and are geared towards playing media in the background.   If you have coded this – be prepared to change it:   To avoid a failure from the market place remove all of your media source elements from your XAML or simply create them dynamically.  To keep this simple we will remove the source and set the AutoPlay property to false to ensure that there are no media elements are active when the application is started. Proper example of the media element with No Source:   Some Additional Settings - Add XAML Support for a Mute Button   Step 4: – Boolean to handle toggle of Mute Feature Step 5: – Add Event Handler for Main Page Load   Step 6: – Add Reference to the XNA Framework   Step 7: – Add two Using Statements to Resolve the Namespace of Media and the Application Bar using Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media; using Microsoft.Phone.Shell;   Step 8: – Add the Method to Check the Media State as Shown Below   Step 9: – Add Code to Mute the Media File Step 10: – Add Code to Play the Media File //if the state of the media has been checked you are good to go. media_sample.Play(); Note: If we tried to perform this operation at this point you will receive the following error: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message=FrameworkDispatcher.Update has not been called. Regular FrameworkDispatcher.Update calls are necessary for fire and forget sound effects and framework events to function correctly. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193853 for details. It is recommended that you implement the following class to your solution and implement this class in the app.xaml.cs file.   Step 11: – Add FrameworkDispatcher Features I recommend creating a class named XNAAsyncDispatcher and adding the following code:   After you have added the code accordingly, you can now implement this into your app.xaml.cs file as highlighted below.   Note:  If you application sound file is not playing make sure you have the proper “Build Action” set such as Content.   Running the Sample Now that we have some of the foundation created you should be able to run the application successfully.  When the application launches your sound options should be set accordingly when the “checkMediaState” method is called.  As a result the application will properly setup the media options and/or alert the user accordinglyper the certification requirements.  In addition, the sample also shows a quick way to mute the sound in your application by simply removing the URI source of the media file.  If everything successfully compiled the application should look similar to below.                 <sound playing>   Summary At this point we have a fully functional application that provides techniques on how to avoid some common challenges when working with media files and developing applications for Windows Phone 7.  The techniques mentioned above should make things a little easier and helpful in getting your WP7 application approved and published on the Marketplace.  The next blog post will be titled: WP7 Tips–Part II - How to write code that will pass the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace Requirements for Themes (light and dark). • HttpURLConnection: What is the minimum best-practice implementation?

  I've come across a lot of HttpURLConnection examples that are nothing more than openConnection(), getInputStream(), and then they just read the buffer and are done. It's simple but seems like it's not the best implementation ... it handles no problems. I don't yet know much about http, so I keep thinking I have everything covered until a new problem arises. I'm currently experiencing a similar problem to this one. Most times I try to read the same resource a second time (from a different HttpURLConnection object, after I .disconnect()'ed the previous one), the response code returns as -1 (but no exception is thrown!!). Before I knew to check the response code, I was baffled since I was throwing no exceptions. So, is there a minimum 'best practice' HttpURLConnection implementation? What are notable exceptions to handle? Request code checking? Any other error checks? What connection parameters do and don't need to be set (like doInput / doOutput, are these even necessary? Some examples have em, some don't). Etc. I realize this is kind of a broad question but I think it has potential to be a very useful resource if many of the common use cases and FAQs are addressed in one central place. This seems like the kind of thing a community wiki would be good for...

I"m just introduced to dynamic programming yesterday and I tried to make a code for it. # Optimal substructure: C[i] = 1 + min_j(C[i-cj]) cdict = {} def C(i, coins): if i <= 0: return 0 if i in cdict: return cdict[i] else: answer = 1 + min([C(i - cj, coins) for cj in coins]) cdict[i] = answer return answer Here, C[i] is the optimal solution for amount of money 'i'. And available coins are {c1, c2, ... , cj, ...} for the program, I've increased the recursion limit to avoid maximum recursion depth exceeded error. But, this program gives the right answer only someones and when a solution is not possible, it doesn't indicate that. What is wrong with my code and how to correct it?

  Hi, I'm trying to have this block element to be horizontally aligned in the middle but at the same time I would like the width to be the minimum possible for the contents inside.   I wrote an application to use SQL SMO to find all SQL Servers, databases, jobs and job outcomes. This application is executed through a scheduled task using a local service account. This service account is local to the application server only and is not present in any SQL Server to be inspected. I am having problems getting information on job and job outcomes when connecting to the servers using a user with dbReader rights on system tables. If we set the user to be sysadmin on the server it all works fine. My question to you is: What are the minimum privileges a local SQL Server user needs to have in order to connect to the server and inspect jobs/job outcomes using the SQL SMO API? I connect to each SQL Server by doing the following: var conn = new ServerConnection { LoginSecure = false, ApplicationName = "SQL Inspector", ServerInstance = serverInstanceName, ConnectAsUser = false, Login = user, Password = password }; var smoServer = new Server (conn); I read the jobs by reading smoServer.JobServer.Jobs and read the JobSteps property on each of these jobs. The variable server is of type Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server. user/password are of the user found in each SQL Server to be inspected. If "user" is SysAdmin on the SQL Server to be inspected all works ok, as well as if we set ConnectAsUser to true and execute the scheduled task using my own credentials, which grants me SysAdmin privileges on SQL Server per my Active Directory membership. • Python, lambda, find minimum

  I have foreach function which calls specified function on every element which it contains. I want to get minimum from thise elements but I have no idea how to write lambda or function or even a class that would manage that. Thanks for every help. I use my foreach function like this: o.foreach( lambda i: i.call() ) or o.foreach( I.call ) I don't like to make a lists or other objects. I want to iterate trough it and find min. I manage to write a class that do the think but there should be some better solution than that: class Min: def __init__(self,i): self.i = i def get_min(self): return self.i def set_val(self,o): if o.val < self.i: self.i = o.val m = Min( xmin ) self.foreach( m.set_val ) xmin = m.get_min() Ok, so I suppose that my .foreach method is non-python idea. I should do my Class iterable because all your solutions are based on lists and then everything will become easier. In C# there would be no problem with lambda function like that, so I though that python is also that powerful.

• Space requirements of a merge-sort

  I'm trying to understand the space requirements for a Mergesort, O(n). I see that time requirements are basically, amount of levels(logn) * merge(n) so that makes (n log n). Now, we are still allocating n per level, in 2 different arrays, left and right. I do understand that the key here is that when the recursive functions return the space gets deallocated, but I'm not seeing it too obvious. Besides, all the info I find, just states space required is O(n) but don't explain it. • Finding minimum cut-sets between bounded subgraphs

  If a game map is partitioned into subgraphs, how to minimize edges between subgraphs? I have a problem, Im trying to make A* searches through a grid based game like pacman or sokoban, but i need to find "enclosures". What do i mean by enclosures? subgraphs with as few cut edges as possible given a maximum size and minimum size for number of vertices for each subgraph that act as a soft constraints. Alternatively you could say i am looking to find bridges between subgraphs, but its generally the same problem. Given a game that looks like this, what i want to do is find enclosures so that i can properly find entrances to them and thus get a good heuristic for reaching vertices inside these enclosures. So what i want is to find these colored regions on any given map. My Motivation The reason for me bothering to do this and not just staying content with the performance of a simple manhattan distance heuristic is that an enclosure heuristic can give more optimal results and i would not have to actually do the A* to get some proper distance calculations and also for later adding competitive blocking of opponents within these enclosures when playing sokoban type games. Also the enclosure heuristic can be used for a minimax approach to finding goal vertices more properly. A possible solution to the problem is the Kernighan-Lin algorithm: function Kernighan-Lin(G(V,E)): determine a balanced initial partition of the nodes into sets A and B do A1 := A; B1 := B compute D values for all a in A1 and b in B1 for (i := 1 to |V|/2) find a[i] from A1 and b[i] from B1, such that g[i] = D[a[i]] + D[b[i]] - 2*c[a][b] is maximal move a[i] to B1 and b[i] to A1 remove a[i] and b[i] from further consideration in this pass update D values for the elements of A1 = A1 / a[i] and B1 = B1 / b[i] end for find k which maximizes g_max, the sum of g[1],...,g[k] if (g_max > 0) then Exchange a[1],a[2],...,a[k] with b[1],b[2],...,b[k] until (g_max <= 0) return G(V,E) My problem with this algorithm is its runtime at O(n^2 * lg(n)), i am thinking of limiting the nodes in A1 and B1 to the border of each subgraph to reduce the amount of work done. I also dont understand the c[a][b] cost in the algorithm, if a and b do not have an edge between them is the cost assumed to be 0 or infinity, or should i create an edge based on some heuristic. Do you know what c[a][b] is supposed to be when there is no edge between a and b? Do you think my problem is suitable to use a multi level problem? Why or why not? Do you have a good idea for how to reduce the work done with the kernighan-lin algorithm for my problem?

• Minimum permission required to access Site Columns page and edit site columns

  We've started to adopt SharePoint 2010, and are starting to manually migrate content from SharePoint 2007 sites to new sites we're rebuilding from scratch in SP2010. One of the things we previously had supported was to delegate responsibility for managing some of our site columns to a member of the team. The team member is not familiar with SharePoint internals, and doesn't want the responsibility of full permissions to the site and all its objects. We're now trying to figure out what the minimum permission is that we need to grant our team member, so they can continue to edit (& propagate) the content of the site columns we've defined. Permissions he currently has (which are obviously insufficient): Site permissions (according to _layouts/user.aspx): Read, Contribute, Manage Lists Permissions for specific objects in the site (according to _layouts/people.aspxMembershipGroupId=xxx, then choosing Settings, View Group Permissions): server/sites/[sitename]: Contribute server/sites/[sitename]/Lists/[a list with columns that inherit from site columns]: "Contribute No Delete" Note: the "Contribute No Delete" permission is a custom permission I designed by copying the SharePoint-native "Contribute" permission set and deselecting the Delete permission. The "Manage Lists" permission is a custom permission I designed that includes the following specific permissions: (List Permissions) Manage Lists, View Items; (Site Permissions) View Pages, Open. Operations that are throwing access denied errors: _layouts/mngfield.aspx: SharePoint returns the "Error: Access Denied" dialog, and provides three clickable options: "Sign in as a different user", "Request access", and "Go back to site" _layouts/fldedit.aspx?field=Level%5Fx0020%5F3 [one of the site columns we've defined]: can load the page and type in changes to the textboxes "...but when I press OK (save changes) I get the same message above." When our team member clicks the "Request access" link, the email I receive sends me to a page that recommends that I grant the user membership in the "[sitename] Users" group - of which he's already a member. So while SP2010 tries to request access, it doesn't actually direct me to either (a) a valid group that has the correct permissions or (b) the specific object to which I need to grant our team member access. Also note: on the SP2007 (MOSS) site (where our team member was successful in managing Site Column edits), they had dozens of additional permissions throughout the site that we do not wish to blindly re-allocate in SP2010 until we know they're necessary. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

• package issue with ubuntu 10.10 and passenger requirements

  I'm trying to get Passenger working with Ubuntu 10.10 and I'm running into a problem. It seems that the passenger installer is not recognizing the virtual package. I'm getting this error: Code: passenger-install-apache2-module ... * OpenSSL support for Ruby... not found ... And then it says, run this: * To install OpenSSL support for Ruby: Please run apt-get install libopenssl-ruby as root. When I run the above command, it refers to the libruby package: sudo apt-get install libopenssl-ruby Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Note, selecting 'libruby' instead of 'libopenssl-ruby' libruby is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 43 not upgraded. When I look at the details for libruby, it says it provides libopenssl-ruby: Code: Provides: libbigdecimal-ruby, libcurses-ruby, libdbm-ruby, libdl-ruby, libdrb-ruby, liberb-ruby, libgdbm-ruby, libiconv-ruby, libopenssl-ruby, libpty-ruby, libracc-runtime-ruby, libreadline-ruby, librexml-ruby, libsdbm-ruby, libstrscan-ruby, libsyslog-ruby, libtest-unit-ruby, libwebrick-ruby, libxmlrpc-ruby, libyaml-ruby, libzlib-ruby And when I rerun the passenger installer, it gives the same error: Code: passenger-install-apache2-module ... * OpenSSL support for Ruby... not found ... Let me know if you need more info. How do I fix this?
