  • Windows Forms Development - Books

    So I'm reading a book for architecting applications for the enterprise from the Microsoft Press. It's a great book, and I'm learning a lot. However, it's very high level, and can be applied to a lot of different domains (not even just .NET, even though that's how the book is geared). The first project I want to develop after reading the book is a Windows Forms application in .NET 4.0. I want to use a lot of the books concepts to develop the app, but I really want a great Windows Forms dedicated book to read before starting that's really going to tell me all I need to know about developing Windows Forms apps. I found plenty of books for .NET 2.0 and stuff, but nothing for Windows Forms in the new .NET 4.0 Framework. Any suggestions?

    Hi I have a nested ordered list. <ol> <li>first</li> <li>second <ol> <li>second nested first element</li> <li>second nested secondelement</li> <li>second nested thirdelement</li> </ol> </li> <li>third</li> <li>fourth</li> </ol> Currently the nested elements start back from 1 again, e.g. first second second nested first element second nested second element second nested third element third fourth What I want is for the second element to be numbered like this: first second 2.1. second nested first element 2.2. second nested second element 2.3. second nested third element third fourth Is there a way of doing this?   • Nested While Loop for mysql_fetch_array not working as I expected

  • Symfony 1.4: Custom error message for CSRF in forms

    Hi, Can anyone tell me where/how to customise the CSRF token error message for forms in Symfony 1.4. I'm using sfDoctrineGuard for logins and in this form particularly, whenever a session runs out and you still have the page open, it throws a very user-unfriendly error: "CSRF attack detected". Something like "This session has expired. Please return to the home page and try again" sounds better. What's the right way to do this in the form class? Thanks.

    I have an admin site swet up as a virtual applcation inside of another website. I would like visitors to the sub directory (the virtual application) to be promtped for credentials using the same Forms autheentication set up on the main parent site Have tried all sorts of things but can't get it to work including Removing all ,, and sections from the virtual-app web.config Copying the same ,, and sections from the parent to the virtual-app web.config Using a virtual directory instead of virtual application But I never get promted for credentials Anyone know how to get this setup? thanks

Is there a way of getting the current user object into the form class, so that i can customize the form in its __init__ method? I think saving the current request in a thread local would be a possibility but this would be my last resort think I'm thinking it is a bad design approach....

  • AutoScroll issues with custom layout on Windows Forms application

    I've implemented a basic custom layout engine in Windows Forms that does control sizing and positioning. I was hoping to allow the AutoScroll features to work untouched, but any time I have enough controls on the screen to require a scroll bar, some of the layout events that get fired (i.e, a rich text box that expands the height as it types) not only fire the layout events, but they force the scroll bar back at (0,0). Do I have any options besides looking at the scroll position and positioning the controls manually based on that?

    I saw a similar question asked and answered for ASP.net here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/484327/how-do-i-prevent-visual-studio-from-renaming-my-controls But I am trying to prevent this while writing a Windows forms app in VS 2008 using c#. I want to copy/paste a ton of controls without them being called Checkbox1 etc. I'd rather rename them manually since its only a small change to the name.

I dont want to use the reset password method. I just want to grab the password i have inside my textbox and replace it with my older password.
