    I want to change the container of a .mov video files that I pick using  UIImagePickerController and compressed them via AVAssetExportSession with AVAssetExportPresetMediumQuality and  shouldOptimizeForNetworkUse = YES to .mp4 container. I need programmatically way/sample code to perform a fastest 'trans-wrap' on iPhone/iPad application I tried to set AVAssetExportSession.outputFileType property to AVFileTypeMPEG4 but it not supported and I got exception I tried to do this transform using AVAssetWriter by specifying fileType:AVFileTypeMPEG4, actually I got .mp4 output file, but it was not 'wrap-trans', the output file was  3x bigger than source, and the convert process took 128 sec for video with 60 sec duration. I need solution that will run quickly and will keep the file size  please help

  • How to perform "shell" icon embedding in Visual Studio 2010?

    As far as I can tell, there have been (at least?) three types of icon embedding. There's the original style used by shell32.dll and friends, .Net's embedding, and the new type that WPF uses. I'm looking for how to perform the first one, as I want to have a few other icons available as resources for a jumplist, which can only accept that style. However, I can't figure out how to embed in this style, only the other two. How do I do this? All the results I find on google, etc are for adding icons to ResX files or similar. I am using C#, if it matters.

    I want a Servlet to perform always the same tasks. Regardless of if it is a GET or POST. At the moment I just call the doGet() from doPost(), which works fine. Then I tried overriding the service() method, and I thought it would just work the same way. But it does not! The code somehow gets executed, but the response does not generate the webpage: response.getWriter(); response.println(string); This code works for the doGet/doPost methods, but not for the service. Why?   • Trying to perform a series of actions on page unload, but the pages unloads too fast to finish them.

    I have a series of actions I want to perform on page unload. Namely if a user is editing an input field, and they refresh or close browser or leave page, I want to save the contents of the field. The actions don't include an AJAX call, so I can't just make it synchronous. It's actually saving to local storage, but the page unloads before the storage can take place. The code is correct, if I add an alert to the actions, the delay allows the rest of the code to finish before it even displays. Any ideas? Thanks!

    We need to perform some tasks when switching from one Subversion branch to another using TortoiseSVN. Is there any way to, say, call a batch file before and after the switch? The only thing I can find are pre-/post-update and commit hooks, but none of those get executed when switching between branches. EDIT: I am looking for client-side hooks. TortoiseSVN has client-side hook scripts for pre-/post-update and commit, but nothing (that I can find) for pre-/post-switch. Initially, I thought adding hooks for client-side pre-/post-update would be executed when switching between branches, but this does not seem to be the case.

  • Should properties in C# perform a lot of work?

    When a property is read from or is assigned to, one would not expect it to perform a lot of work. When setSomeValue(...) and getSomeValue(...) methods are used instead, one should not be that surprised that something non-trivial might be going on under the hood. However, now that C# gave the world Properties, it seems silly to use getter and setter methods instead. What is your take on this? Should I mark this Q as a community wiki? Thanks.

  • Can an administration extraction of an MSI file perform registry and/or system wide changes?

    I am always getting MSI (or setup EXEs which are basically MSI) files, and half the time they really do not need to be a setup. Microsoft is probably one of the biggest sources - almost every time I want to download a little source code sample, it has a MSI which if you install, only usually has three files. I would rather not do an install and add it to the add/remove programs and who knows what else (although I am sure it wouldn't be that bad) for the sake of three files! For this reason, I always use the following command: MSIEXEC /a <filename.msi> /qb TARGETDIR=<directory name> Now, this works fine and I have never had problems... However, I was just browsing some articles on Technet and found the following resource about administration installs. Apparently, MSI files can have two sequences: The AdminUISequence Table and the AdminExecuteSequence Table. I am not so worried about the AdminUISequence Table as it states that "The installer skips the actions in this table if the user interface level is set to basic UI or no UI", and this is what the /qb switch I use does. However, there is nothing similar written against AdminExecuteSequence Table. I realise that many people who write MSI files simply do it for a single end user and probably do not even touch the admin install options, however, is it possible for them to set items that can affect the system and if so, is there a fail proof way of extracting? I do already use 7-zip, however despite it being on the "supported" page, MSI support is lacking... well... completely sucks. It looses the file names and is generally useless. They have a bug which was closed with no reason/resolution over three years ago, and I opened a forum post and haven't had a reply. I would not really want to install any additional programs if I could help it and just want peoples opinions on this. Thanks. edit - Should also say, I run with UAC on, and I have never ever had a elevation prompt whilst performing the MSIEXEC operation, so I am guessing I have never had a system wide change, however, I am still curious as to if it is possible... As if changes (even just to the user) are possible I would do this locally/in a VM and never on a server or place of importance!

  • Does an ESEUTIL defrag of an Exchange store also perform an integrity check/repair on it?

    Earlier this morning, store.exe fuzzled up in one way or another, which necessitated a restart of our Exchange server. It came back online with no errors or problems, all the transaction logs replayed successfully, and all the stores mounted as normal. To me, it was just one of those random crashes; however, our consultant suspects it was caused by corruption in one of the stores. Perhaps he's correct, since he has far more experience than me, but that's not the point. To fix the suspected errors, he's planinng to run an ESEUTIL defrag (via PerfectDisk) to fix them, which he claims will also fix any errors present. From what I understand, defrag, verify, and repair are 3 separate actions, and a defrag does not imply any kind of integrity check. Is this correct? Are there any dangers of running a straight-up defrag on a database that might be corrupt? Edit: Here's the first error in the event log, which indicated the start of the problems we were having.     What I have: an online financial application (ASP.NET, C#) at peak we have 5K+ simultaneous users backend is running on Oracle 11g (active server + stand-by using Active Data Guard). At peak - 4K-5K database sessions Oracle is installed on Linux 5.8 (Oracle's unbreakable version) the database size: 7TB disk storage: NetApp (connected with 10GB network) I would like to replace old servers (IT will purchase HP blades BL685C). Servers will have 256GB of RAM. I need your help to figure out what to do with CPUs and cores. Options: 2 CPUs (2.3 GHz) with 16 cores each 4 CPUs (3.0 GHz) with 8 cores each Question: Which one should I pick? P.S. Next year, we will migrate from Oracle to SQL server.     I'm currently testing Ubuntu 10.04, and have install the VirtualBox software. I have also installed Ubuntu 10.04 as a VirtualBox guest running on the host system. I've installed the VirtualBox Utils into the guest OS, as follows: sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose-guest-utils What I want to be able to do is to initiate a controlled shutdown of the guest, from the host system using the VBoxManage command. I first tried this command: VBoxManage controlvm guest poweroff which worked, but didn't initiate a controlled shutdown, it effectively pulls the plug on the guest. I've since found that this command should do the trick: VBoxManage controlvm guest acpipowerbutton but this doesn't appear to do anything. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? p.s. I don't want to use SSH & Certificates to do this, as I'm also going to be running Windows guests, and I want the solution to work for all guests.

  • Is it worth hiring a hacker to perform some penetration testing on my servers ?

    I'm working in a small IT company with paranoid clients, so security has always been an important consideration to us ; In the past, we've already mandated two penetration testing from independent companies specialized in this area (Dionach and GSS). We've also ran some automated penetration tests using Nessus. Those two auditors were given a lot of insider information, and found almost nothing* ... While it feels comfortable to think our system is perfectly sure (and it was surely comfortable to show those reports to our clients when they performed their due diligence work), I've got a hard time believing that we've achieved a perfectly sure system, especially considering that we have no security specialist in our company (Security has always been a concern, and we're completely paranoid, which helps, but that's far as it goes!) If hackers can hack into companies that probably employ at least a few people whose sole task is to ensure their data stays private, surely they could hack into our small business, right ? Does someone have any experience in hiring an "ethical hacker"? How to find one? How much would it cost? *The only recommendation they made us was to upgrade our remote desktop protocols on two windows servers, which they were able to access because we gave them the correct non-standard port and whitelisted their IP

Is there something built into upstart to handle this, or do I have to get creative?

    Hello, When trying to do a delete operation on a table, mysql reports the following error: Error code 1227: Access denied; you need the SUPER privilege for this operation. However, my user has this privilege granted for all tables in the schema: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON myschema.* TO 'my_admin'@'%' How come it asks me for SUPER privilege for a delete?     Is there a clever way to do copy and move operations or a command to duplicate a file, without having to do a cd, then mv after, at the same folder? For example, I have to run the following: mv /folder1/folder2/folder3/file.txt /folder1/folder2/folder3/file-2013.txt Note that the directory to where I'm moving the file is the same, but I have to put the whole path again and sometimes it gets annoying. I'm curious to know if there's another way to do that without having to put the whole path again, because the operation would be done in the same path.

  • Why does my simple Raid 1 backup storage perform really slow sometimes?

    I bought 2x Samsung F3 EcoGreen 2TB hard disks to make a backup storage. I put them in Raid 1 (mirror) mode. Made a single partition and formatted it to NTFS, running Windows 7. For some reason, accessing the drive's contents (simply by navigating folders) is sometimes really slow. Like opening D:/photos/ can sometimes take several seconds before it starts showing any of the folder's contents. Same applies for other folders. What could be causing this and what could I do to improve the performance? I remember that there was an option somewhere inside Windows to choose fast access but less reliable persistence operations (read/write). It was a tick inside some dialog. At the time, it felt like a good idea to take the tick away from the option and get more reliable persistence but slower access, but now I'm regretting. I'm unable to find this dialog.. I've looked hard. I don't know, if it would make any difference. Oh, and I've ran scan disk and defrag on the drive. No errors and speed isn't improved.

    I have a bunch of bash completion scripts set up (mostly using bash-it and some manually setup). I also have a bunch of aliases setup for common tasks like gco for git checkout. Right now I can type git checkout dTab and develop is completed for me but when I type gco dTab it does not complete. I'm assuming this is because the completion script is completing on git and it fails to see gco. Is there a way to generically/programmatically get all of my completion scripts to work with my aliases? Not being able to complete when using the alias kind of defeats the purpose of the alias.

How can I do the same to the currently focused window with a key binding? The section looks like this: `additionalKeys` ( [ -- Key bindings -- -- Minimize window ((myModMask .|. shiftMask, xK_m ), withFocused minimizeWindow) As you can see, I can call the minimizedWindow function (which takes a Window as parameter) on the current window when pressing a combination of keys, but doFloat etc. do not work like this.

How to mount a dir in one partition (sda2, mounted in ubuntu as the home folder) into a directory on another mounted partition (sda3)? I did chroot /mnt/sda2 but I don't know how to mount sda3 to /home, and my various attempts didn't work. As I am unfamiliar with chroot, my approach could be wrong, so it would be great if you could suggest what I should do, given my circumstances.

  • Why might one hard disk perform slower than another?

    I have just bought two WD 3TB Reds (WD30EFRX) for a FreeNAS box and whilst doing burn-in testing it seems like one is consistently taking about 10% longer than the other. So far I've done: a dd read test of the whole device, a long SMART test and it's currently halfway through a badblocks -wvs. The second device is lagging behind the first on all of them. I'm running these commands on Debian stable in two Konsole tabs. Is there a reason this could be considered normal behaviour or is it worth running the tests independantly? They're both plugged in to the LSI 2308 (IT mode) on a Supermicro X10SL7-F.
