  • Best way to export an icon from photoshop?

    Hi, I'm writing a program to notify me of new email. It's mostly complete, I'm just working on the notifyicon code now. It's supposed to display the usual application icon with a box containing the count of unread emails inside it. I created icons for this in photoshop, exported them as 16x16 transparent PNGs, then converted them into windows ico files using ConvertIcon.com. Given that the image was 16x16 and the WinXP system tray uses 16x16 icons, I would assume the images would work. HOWEVER, when I start the application and get an email, the icon's all blurry: http://cyndle.com/bPJ7

    As we can see in Photoshop layer window (or other image editting tool also), it has several features: groups with folder-like header (collapse/expandable) ungroupped item (no header) sort "manually" by dragging. In case of No 1, I made groupped item with expander control. (ref: http://www.dotnetspark.com/kb/1753-expand-and-collapse-listbox-group-header.aspx) In case of No 3, Sort manually can be solved with this code. (ref: codeproject.com/kb/WPF/ListViewDragDropManager.aspx) but I don't know how to list ungroupped items together. Of course, the ungroupped items may not have a header. I am using ICollectionView and MVVM. Does ICollectionView can make it?

  • How does Photoshop (Or drawing programs) blit?

    I'm getting ready to make a drawing application in Windows. I'm just wondering, do drawing programs have a memory bitmap which they lock, then set each pixel, then blit? I don't understand how Photoshop can move entire layers without lag or flicker without using hardware acceleration. Also in a program like Expression Design, I could have 200 shapes and move them around all at once with no lag. I'm really wondering how this can be done without GPU help. I don't think super efficient algorithms could justify that? Thanks

  • Dreamweaver CS5 - Have Design Window as a Panel?

    I've been looking around on the dreamweaver interface, and I'm trying to get my design window as an external panel. Reason is, I have a dual monitor system, and I would like to have the main window (where you can have both code/split/design) on my main screen, but with the code selected, and a design view on my secondary monitor. I'm assuming this can't be done, although I have noticed you can have your code as an external panel (Code Inspector). Would like to hear your input. Thanks

  • Flash CS5 AS3 drop shadow filter won't print

    Hello all, I've tried searching quite a bit to discover why I don't seem to be able to print drop shadow filters from within Flash. I have trouble printing, but if the movieclip I want to print has or contains a drop shadow, that clip will print sans the drop shadow. Anyone have any insight as to why this might be happening? If you want to try it out yourself, here is the simple print code I'm using.     I tried a few times to scan newspaper articles, but the images I got were always blotchy and with bad colors (sort of like this). Sometimes I see some really good scans, like this. What is the trick to get such good results? Do I need some high-quality scanner, or do I need some good photoshop filters? If there was something I could do using free tools it would be awesome.

    The only thing stopping me from making ubuntu 12.04 my main os is that a lot of programs I use on windows 7 and mac aren't available for download on ubuntu. Why don't popular software programs like photoshop or world of warcraft support linux? Also - Would a company have to create the program (ex photoshop) for every possible distro(gentoo, arch linux, ubuntu, etc...), or would they just have to make one binary and it would work across all distros?

  • Flash Animation and Sound Loop

    ok so im having an issue with Flash CS5. I have a sound looping, and my animation is only 13 frames long, while the song is like a minute long, so each time the animation loops threw the default "Loop Playback" a new sound audio is played which os overlapping the previous over and over causing a massive echo effect. Whats the best way to loop both of them insync, or atleast copy and paste the animations frames and make it the length of the song?

  • Saving ink when printing?

    I need a map of the SMC campus, but I'm really sick of running out of ink after printing one thing and then having to pay ridiculous sums of money to buy more ink. The map is here: http://www.smc.edu/campusmap/images/SMC-2D-Map_12-Clr_9-10_crop.jpg I would print in black and white, but I'm wondering if there are any chrome or photoshop extensions, or even websites that transform the image into something more ink-conservative. For example, I don't need the buildings to be a solid color, or the roads to be gray, so it would be a tremendous waste of ink to print it as is. Anyone know anything like I'm talking about?

  • How do I make an Illustrator file "higher resolution"?

    I was given an illustrator file, but all the curves on the artwork are jagged. I've tried "rasterizing" and exporting by increasing the size of the image. I don't know what else to do or what I'm doing wrong. My understanding is the beauty of Illustrator is that it's all done mathematically, so I can scale it up to infinity and it will be perfect (more or less). And that lines are drawn that way also, so they should be (or can be) infinitely smooth if they want to be.   • Colors less saturated in Snow Leopard Finder, Preview & Safari than in Chrome -- why?

    If I look at the picture here in Safari, Preview or the finder, the shades of blue are significantly different than if I look at the picture in Google Chrome (they are less saturated than in Chrome). Since I am a photographer and need to prepare pictures for publication online, I need to know what a jpeg should really look like, in order to color-correct it. I have an excellent Eizo monitor that is correctly calibrated. If I open the same image in Photoshop CS3, I get the Chrome colors if I use Monitor RGB under view proof setup, and I get the Safari colors if I use Macintosh RGB. Can anyone explain the difference between these two settings, and the difference between Safari and Chrome? Which colors are correct? Photos that I prepared under Windows (during the past five years) now seem washed out in the Apple Finder and Preview, even though I had correctly prepared them. Is there a setting on the Macintosh for color calibration, besides the monitor calibration control panel?

For example I want to have white-to-red gradient image. Possible to do it in a quick way via any of these tools or I have to make it from the scratch?   • My images look desaturated and brighter on the iPhone than on my Mac (in PS, Pixelmator & Finder)

    I save my image in Photoshop (No Color management). I put it on the iPhone and it looks brighter and desaturated. Also my blue-green looks more like blue. I have tried some color profiles on the net: http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38121 http://www.colorwiki.com/wiki/Color_on_iPhone But the images still look different. I'm going insane with this because its stealing my time away and i can't fix it. Every bit of help would be appreciated! Do I have to create my own profile? Is there an easy way??

  • File must be saved as a copy with this selection?

    I have created an image in photoshop 7 and am now attempting to save it as a png. I click "Save As" and am presented with a save file dialog with *.PSD selected by default. If I then select *.PNG a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark appears next to a greyed out box called "Layers" and the message "file must be saved as a copy with this selection" appears. This is confusing me because the image is comprised of only a single layer. How do I resolve this?
