• Sharepoint 2007 reset permission inheritance

  I have this SharePoint 2007 document library which has several levels of folders and files. Some folders in the middle of the hierarchy do not inherit permissions from their parents and have their unique permissions defined. It is a huge library and there are many folders like this. I am currently changing the permission model of my library and I want to reset all those unique permissions and have all of them inherit permissions from the library root. (Something like "Replace child object permissions" checkbox available in windows files system security window) If this is not possible, seeing a list of folders that have their unique permissions defined would also do.

• My Router is fast when i reset it but slows down seconds later

  I have a Belkin N wireless router which until recently worked perfectly fine. Now i have to reset the router every few minutes, otherwise it slows down to a crawl. What can I do? I have tried turning the routers firewall off, but it does not make any difference. As far as I'm aware there have been no recent firmware updates. EDIT: The other devices on my network (laptop and iphone) do not have this problem. I connect to the router using a TP-Link wireless network card and I have already tried uninstalling and installing the driver. Hopefully this will narrow down the problem significantly.

  When I ssh into a remote server, I like the colors of the terminal to change. I use setterm on my remote ~/.bashrc file to get this done. However, when I exit, the terminal colors are not reset to the local ones. I solved the problem, but I am not sure if it is the best solution. This is what I could come up with. On the ~/.bash_logout on the remote server, I put: echo -e "\033[0m" /usr/bin/clear Just out of curiousity: Does anyone know of a better way? (I got the echo -e "\033[0m" line from http://edoceo.com/liber/linux-bash-shell)

• Ubuntu reset network configuration

  When I boot up my ubuntu server, it cannot connect to my wireless network anymore. It says "waiting for network configuration" for 60 seconds, boots up, but no wireless. I suspect it's because of the following reasons. I used to connect to a wireless connection named 2WIRE555, password: 123abc But then I upgraded my connection and my new wireless connection was named 2WIRE444, password:111111 Being lazy, I simply renamed 2WIRE555 to 2WIRE444 and changed the password accordingly. I was hoping this would work but ever since then my network configurations is messed up. So back to the issue, how do I reset my network configurations for my Ubuntu 11.10 server?

• Monitor does not turn on until reset

  I have a system with an ATI 4870 hooked up to a Samsung P2350 using DVI. My motherboard is a GA-EP45 DS4P with the latest BIOS. The situation is: I turn on my PC (with the power switch) I get a blank screen I hit reset and the PC boots up normally, i.e. the monitor turns on and This has been the case for a couple of months (Was away for a while, came back and it was the same case). I was hoping the situation would somehow fix itself but alas, nothing. I have tried numerous settings in the BIOS (Combinations of different settings of the ACPI and power saving options) and have tried different cables. Has anyone experienced this before? I don't know where to go from here. It is pretty infuriating because it means I can't put my computer to sleep, as the monitor won't come on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Now, the problem I'm experiencing is that I can't get the submit buttons to look normally again. I could ofcourse remove the input from the list and be done with it, but I'd like to know how to get it back, since I might need that in the future.

• Postgresql sequences

  When I delete all records from a Postgresql table and then try to reset the sequence to start a new record with number 1 when it is inserted, i get different results : SELECT setval('tblname_id_seq', (SELECT COALESCE(MAX(id),1) FROM tblname)); This sets the current value of the sequence to 1, but the NEXT record (actually the first because there are no records yet) gets number 2! And I can't set it to 0, because the minimum value in the sequence is 1! When I use : ALTER SEQUENCE tblname_id_seq RESTART WITH 1; the first record that is inserted actually gets number 1 ! But the above code doesn't accept a SELECT as a value instead of 1. I wish to reset the sequence to number 1 when there are no records, and the first record then should start with 1. But when there ARE already records in the table, I want to reset the sequence so that the next record that is inserted will get {highest}+1 Does anyone have a clear solution for this?

• Git already up to date unless I reset

  I have a cloned repo I use for the live site and I have it pull from a bare repo. For some reason every time I execute "git pull" I get the already up to date message. But it's not up to date and not updated. If I do a git reset --hard HEAD^ and then git pull again, the changes come in. What's the problem here and how do I fix it so that git pull will pull and merge changes in without needing a hard reset?

• Linux Mint reset display resolution from console

  I have a Linux Mint 13 Xfce in a VMware Workstation 8 VM and set the resolution from 800x600 to 1280x768 and now I get permanently logged out when I try to login. I knew how to get back to my old resolution back in the xorg.conf days but Linux Mint now uses xrandr which won't display any displays when running # xrandr because X is not running (of course not - I can't login over GUI). I know that there are configuration files in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ because I configured a debian based thinclient's resolution in a file called /etc/X11/Xsession.d/91configure_display but that file doesn't exist in my Linux Mint VM. So, how do I reset my X screen resolution from console? Edit: I forgot to tell you that I can't change resolution in console: # xrandr -s 800x600 Can't open display This message appears every time I use xrandr or xrandr -s *resolution* Update: I tried what bWowk suggested: # export DISPLAY=:0.0 # xrandr -s 800x600 No protocol specified No protocol specified Can't open display :0.0 So, that doesn't work either. Isn't there a configuration file that is executed every time X starts? X is running btw - ps aux | grep X shows one process /usr/bin/X running.

  Help is greatly needed for our server. We are experiencing random "Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server" errors which cause a 500 internal server error. If the page is then reloaded it loads normally as it should. We are running MPM Worker with mod FCGID to handle PHP. We had APC cache enabled but disabled it recently to see if it would fix the problem, but the random mod FCGID errors are still continuing. No other opcode cache is active now. Just to clarify, the random fcgid errors are occurring when a user clicks a page on our site and the 500 error page loads instantly. This is random and occurrs less than 1% of the time but it is still an issue.

  I installed postgres on my mac running 10.6.8 and I would like to reset the password for the postgres user (I believe this is the super user password) and then restart it. All the directions I found do not work because I think my user name is not recognized by pg as having authority to change the password. (I am on the admin account of my mac) Here is what I tried: Larson-2:~ larson$ psql -U postgres Password for user postgres: psql (9.0.4, server 9.1.2) WARNING: psql version 9.0, server version 9.1. I am not sure what further steps I can take from here.

  On a Debian 6 VPS, I'm running PHP 5.4 via mod_fcgid on a couple of different virtual hosts, managed by Virtualmin GPL. At random, I get 500 Internal Server Errors; restarting Apache brings everything back to normality. (see what they did here?) Had to use a workaround with Samsung Update, the driver didnt appear as download so had to use search and downloaded the driver manually. Now the graphic card appears on device manager and catalyst but as 8800 series (not exact model), and cant check the card with neither dxdiag/GPU-z/HWMonitor when right-clicking on CCC only Intel card appears launching a game and using as "high performance" would speed it up a little but i cant be sure How to verify its working properly? HWMonitor wont show AMD card even when set to high performance Latest GPU-Z wont work because a problem with Intel's, and legacy ones wont either what can I do now? I don't even know if I fixed my problem or not, and i also want to to use Adobe Premier with it, and its locked (the option to run it with the amd card not intels) Edit: now it seems to work, but cant change the setting for adobe Premiere and other programs that i Need to

• Unable to connect to SQL Database (can the password be reset)

  I have recently joined a company which has an SQL 2005 Server running a few databases. The server looks like no one has touched it in a couple of years and has this week it ran out of disk space. After a quick hard drive scan it looks like some of the databases have become a little bloated and particularly the Sharepoint_config~*~_log and WSS_Content_log.ldf have grown to about 15GB. I have been able to log into a couple of the other databases and use the shrinkfile command to free up disk space but for some reason I am unable to log into the sharepoint and Microsoft#SSEE databases (which gives me the "cannot connect to Sharepoint, a network related or instance specific error occurred..." when I try and connect) I can see that the database is running via the SQL surface configuration and I have made sure that the remote connection settings allow me to connect locally but I am still unable to log in either with windows authentication or locally. Is there any way to reset or recover the database login details so I can get in? ( I have tried logging in with all the administrative passwords I can find and after tracking down the company who installed it in the first place I found out that they have no idea what the password could have been)

• Users Password does not reset after successful login at the console but works fine with SSH

  The title says it all. I have my unsuccessful login attempts set to three. I purposefully fail logging in 2x, then when I SSH into the box successfully the 3rd time my count drops back to zero; exactly what should happen. But at the console I get failed login attempts EVEN for my successful login attempts. I am using RHEL 5.6 and no I am not able to upgrade. • Wiping out user and/or root password in embedded linux

  We have a security camera system running an embedded linux. It boots with Lilo as a bootloader and has no tty access once booted. I don't know any username either. SSH/22 is open, but I don't think brute force is an option. I have tried all the common tricks to reset a linux user password (boot from the bootloader in single user mode = doesn't happen, still prompts for user login, boot to a live cd = can't access the file system...it's all loop files and other binary, etc etc), but they are all not possible as it is an embedded linux setup the way it is. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

• Java for 64bit isn't working

  I'm having errors with java left and right, normal java works just fine. It's things that use the internet for certificates and java .jnpl. I've tried Minecraft classic, it gives me a error, canirunit, error, Carnegie learning, error. I've switched browsers and still have these errors. everything is broken I've turned on ask me for unsigned certificates instead of blocking it and it doesn't pop-up. • My computer resets when i try to install Windows 7 (USB/DVD)

  I had a troublesome software starting up when Windows 7 was starting and i had no way to remove it because i couldn't log in to Windows. Not even safe mode. But i used Hiren's Boot CD to edit the registry to stop that software from starting up... But my efforts were not useful as Windows kept on going to an ultimate freeze just before the login screen should have been shown. And just freezes and I cannot do anything. So i decided heck with it and i now want to format the disk and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows 7. But now regardless of USB or DVD i use to boot the setup, it loads fine till you see the animating Windows and it just resets the laptop! Just plain resets! Hiren's Boot CD and Mini XP, strange enough but still works :( Any ideas what might be causing the laptop to reset in Windows 7 setup?

• Connections to Cotendo CDN servers are unreliable

  I've been having a lot of trouble viewing certain websites - Gawker Media, DeviantArt, etc. - and through further investigation they all appear to be using a CDN called Cotendo. On my machine, and only this one, connections reset themselves midway through the download most of the time. This is not browser-specific; even wget (Cygwin) is unable to download anything without retrying a few times. This happens inside virtual machines as well. Unfortunately, I'm pretty stumped on why this is happening. My hosts file is empty (except for a couple LAN-specific things) and I've checked a few different DNS servers, but I can't really think of anything else to try. Anyone have any ideas?
