  • Content-Length header not returned from Pylons response

    - by Evgeny
    I'm still struggling to Stream a file to the HTTP response in Pylons. In addition to the original problem, I'm finding that I cannot return the Content-Length header, so that for large files the client cannot estimate how long the download will take. I've tried response.content_length = 12345 and I've tried response.headers['Content-Length'] = 12345 In both cases the HTTP response (viewed in Fiddler) simply does not contain the Content-Length header. How do I get Pylons to return this header? (Oh, and if you have any ideas on making it stream the file please reply to the original question - I'm all out of ideas there.)

  • SOAPUI Extract data from SOAP Response and use in REST request

    - by Adrian
    I have been looking at the answer to this question: Pulling details from response to new request SoapUI which is similar to what I am looking for but I can't get it to work. I have a small SOAPUI testsuite and I need to extract a value from the response of a SOAP request and then use this value in a subsequent REST request. The response to my SOAP request is: <ns0:session xmlns:ns0="http://www.someurl.com/la/la/v1_0"> <token>AQIC5wM2xAAIwMg==#</token> </ns0:session> so I need the token to use in my REST request. I know it involves using Property Transfer and some XPath / XQuery but I just can't get it right. At the moment my property transfer window points to Source: SOAP test Property: Response and has data(/session/token/text()) in the text box. In target it has Target: REST testcase Property: newProp and I have Use XQuery checked. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adrian

  • PAYPAL IPN Response Problem

    - by Gorkem Tolan
    I am having a problem with Paypal IPN response. After payment is made by the customer, paypal ipn returns this url www.mywebsite.com?orderid=32&tx=2AC67201DL3533325&st=Pending&amt=2.50&cc=USD&cm=&item_number=32 There are a couple of issues 1- Postback field names are undefined or missing. Thus I can get the INVALID message. I am not sure if my website does not read POST variables. When I looked at IPN history, it shows that each IPN has been sent with the complete url. 2- Payment status keeps coming Pending. Does this issue cause the first issue? Thank you for your responses in advance. Here is the code: Dim strSandbox As String, strLive As String Dim req As HttpWebRequest strSandbox = "http://www.sandbox.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr/" strLive = "https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" req = CType(WebRequest.Create(strSandbox), HttpWebRequest) 'Set values for the request back req.Method = "POST" req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" Dim param() As Byte param = Request.BinaryRead(HttpContext.Current.Request.ContentLength) Dim strRequest As String strRequest = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(param) strRequest = strRequest & "&cmd=_notify-validate" req.ContentLength = strRequest.Length 'Response.Write(strRequest) 'Send the request to PayPal and get the response Dim streamOut As StreamWriter streamOut = New StreamWriter(req.GetRequestStream(), System.Text.Encoding.ASCII) streamOut.Write(strRequest) streamOut.Close() Dim streamIn As StreamReader streamIn = New StreamReader(req.GetResponse().GetResponseStream()) Dim strResponse As String strResponse = streamIn.ReadToEnd() Response.Write(strResponse) streamIn.Close() If (strResponse = "VERIFIED") Then Response.Redirect("thankyou.aspx") ElseIf (strResponse = "INVALID") Then End If

  • Perl LWP::UserAgent mishandling UTF-8 response

    - by RedGrittyBrick
    When I use LWP::UserAgent to retrieve content encoded in UTF-8 it seems LWP::UserAgent doesn't handle the encoding correctly. Here's the output after setting the Command Prompt window to Unicode by the command chcp 65001 Note that this initially gives the appearance that all is well, but I think it's just the shell reassembling bytes and decoding UTF-8, From the other output you can see that perl itself is not handling wide characters correctly. C:\perl getutf8.pl ====================================================================== HTTP/1.1 200 OK Connection: close Date: Fri, 31 Dec 2010 19:24:04 GMT Accept-Ranges: bytes Server: Apache/2.2.8 (Win32) PHP/5.2.6 Content-Length: 75 Content-Type: application/xml; charset=utf-8 Last-Modified: Fri, 31 Dec 2010 19:20:18 GMT Client-Date: Fri, 31 Dec 2010 19:24:04 GMT Client-Peer: 127.0.0.1:80 Client-Response-Num: 1 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"? <nameBudejovický Budvar</name ====================================================================== response content length is 33 ....v....1....v....2....v....3....v....4 <nameBudejovický Budvar</name . . . . v . . . . 1 . . . . v . . . . 2 . . . . v . . . . 3 . . . . 3c6e616d653e427564c49b6a6f7669636bc3bd204275647661723c2f6e616d653e < n a m e B u d ? ? j o v i c k ? ? B u d v a r < / n a m e Above you can see the payload length is 31 characters but Perl thinks it is 33. For confirmation, in the hex, we can see that the UTF-8 sequences c49b and c3bd are being interpreted as four separate characters and not as two Unicode characters. Here's the code #!perl use strict; use warnings; use LWP::UserAgent; my $ua = LWP::UserAgent-new(); my $response = $ua-get('http://localhost/Bud.xml'); if (! $response-is_success) { die $response-status_line; } print '='x70,"\n",$response-as_string(), '='x70,"\n"; my $r = $response-decoded_content((charset = 'UTF-8')); $/ = "\x0d\x0a"; # seems to be \x0a otherwise! chomp($r); # Remove any xml prologue $r =~ s/^<\?.*\?\x0d\x0a//; print "Response content length is ", length($r), "\n\n"; print "....v....1....v....2....v....3....v....4\n"; print $r,"\n"; print ". . . . v . . . . 1 . . . . v . . . . 2 . . . . v . . . . 3 . . . . \n"; print unpack("H*", $r), "\n"; print join(" ", split("", $r)), "\n"; Note that Bud.xml is UTF-8 encoded without a BOM. How can I persuade LWP::UserAgent to do the right thing? P.S. Ultimately I want to translate the Unicode data into an ASCII encoding, even if it means replacing each non-ASCII character with one question mark or other marker. I have accepted Ysth's "upgrade" answer - because I know it is the right thing to do when possible. However I am going to use a work-around (which may depress Tom further): $r = encode("cp437", decode("utf8", $r));

  • Problem in getting response from server in jquery

    - by Alvin
    Hello, I'm using $.ajax(options) method to pass the request to server based on username and password, but whenever I try to print the response by XMLHttpRequest object when response gets successful, I'm getting an empty value. $(document).ready(function(){ $("#form").submit(function(){ $.ajax({url:"Chat.jsp",type:"POST",data:$("#form").serialize(),success:function(request) { alert(request.responseText); //This is displaying nothing },error:function(){document.write("YOU can't");}}); }); }); This is what I'm doing in my servlets code after executing query: try { String user = request.getParameter("j_username"); String password = request.getParameter("j_password"); if(user != null && password != null) { String query = "Select * from users where user_name="+"\'"+user+"\'"+"&& user_pass="+"\""+password+"\""; DBCheck db= new DBCheck(); boolean b = db.doExecuteQuery(con.createStatement(),query); response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache"); if(b) { response.getWriter().println("Username already exits"); } else { response.getWriter().println("Username doesn't exit"); } } } catch(SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } May I know the problem, and how can I fix it?

  • NetNamedPipe: varying response time when communication is idling

    - by Sven Künzler
    I have two WCF apps communicating one-way over named pipes. All is nice, except for one thing: Normally, the request/response cycle takes zero (marginal) time. However, if there was a time span of, say, half a minute without any communication, the request/response increases up to ~300-500ms. I looked around the net and I got the idea of using a heart beat/ping mechanism to keep the communication channel busy. Using trial and error I found that when doing a request each 10 seconds, the response times stay low. Starting at around 15s intervals, the "hiccup" response times begin to appear. Now I'm wondering where this phenomenon is originating from. I tried setting alle conceivable timeouts on both sides to 1 minute, but that did not help. Can anybody explain what's going on there?

  • Servlet response wrapper has encoding problem

    - by John O
    A servlet response wrapper is being used in a Servlet Filter. The idea is that the response is manipulated, with a 'nonce' value being injected into forms, as part of defence against CSRF attacks. The web app is using UTF-8 everywhere. When the Servlet Filter is absent, no problems. When the filter is added, encoding issues occur. (It seems as if the response is reverting to 8859-1.) The guts of the code : final class CsrfResponseWrapper extends AbstractResponseWrapper { ... byte[] modifyResponse(byte[] aInputResponse){ ... String originalInput = new String(aInputResponse, encoding); String modifiedResult = addHiddenParamToPostedForms(originalInput); result = modifiedResult.getBytes(encoding); ... } ... } As I understand it, the transition between byte-land and String-land should specify an encoding. That is done here, as you can see, in two places. The value of the 'encoding' variable is 'UTF-8'; the alteration of the String itself is standard string manipulation (with a regex), and never specifies an encoding (addHiddenParamToPostedForms). Where am I in error about the encoding? EDIT: Here is the base class (sorry it's rather long): package hirondelle.web4j.security; import javax.servlet.ServletOutputStream; import javax.servlet.ServletResponse; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponseWrapper; import java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.PrintWriter; /** Abstract Base Class for altering response content. (May be useful in future contexts as well. For now, keep package-private.) */ abstract class AbstractResponseWrapper extends HttpServletResponseWrapper { AbstractResponseWrapper(ServletResponse aServletResponse) throws IOException { super((HttpServletResponse)aServletResponse); fOutputStream = new ModifiedOutputStream(aServletResponse.getOutputStream()); fWriter = new PrintWriter(fOutputStream); } /** Return the modified response. */ abstract byte[] modifyResponse(byte[] aInputResponse); /** Standard servlet method. */ public final ServletOutputStream getOutputStream() { //fLogger.fine("Modified Response : Getting output stream."); if ( fWriterReturned ) { throw new IllegalStateException(); } fOutputStreamReturned = true; return fOutputStream; } /** Standard servlet method. */ public final PrintWriter getWriter() { //fLogger.fine("Modified Response : Getting writer."); if ( fOutputStreamReturned ) { throw new IllegalStateException(); } fWriterReturned = true; return fWriter; } // PRIVATE /* Well-behaved servlets return either an OutputStream or a PrintWriter, but not both. */ private PrintWriter fWriter; private ModifiedOutputStream fOutputStream; /* These items are used to implement conformance to the javadoc for ServletResponse, regarding exceptions being thrown. */ private boolean fWriterReturned; private boolean fOutputStreamReturned; /** Modified low level output stream. */ private class ModifiedOutputStream extends ServletOutputStream { public ModifiedOutputStream(ServletOutputStream aOutputStream) { fServletOutputStream = aOutputStream; fBuffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); } /** Must be implemented to make this class concrete. */ public void write(int aByte) { fBuffer.write(aByte); } public void close() throws IOException { if ( !fIsClosed ){ processStream(); fServletOutputStream.close(); fIsClosed = true; } } public void flush() throws IOException { if ( fBuffer.size() != 0 ){ if ( !fIsClosed ) { processStream(); fBuffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); } } } /** Perform the core processing, by calling the abstract method. */ public void processStream() throws IOException { fServletOutputStream.write(modifyResponse(fBuffer.toByteArray())); fServletOutputStream.flush(); } // PRIVATE // private ServletOutputStream fServletOutputStream; private ByteArrayOutputStream fBuffer; /** Tracks if this stream has been closed. */ private boolean fIsClosed = false; } }

  • Websocket handshake response not forwarded from TCP to client

    - by Saharsh
    I am trying to create a websocket server. I can see the websocket client's opening handhshake. My response to it is received by the client laptop (I can see this on wireshark). So the TCP connection has been established. But the client (a chrome websocket client extension) does not receive the handshake packet. What could be a possible reason for TCP to not forward the handshake to the client or for the client to not be able to read the TCP message? Client handshake: GET HTTP/1.1 Upgrade: websocket Connection:Upgrade Cache-Control:no-cache Host:192.168.0.101 Origin:http://www.websocket.org Pragma:no-cache Sec-WebSocket-Extensions:permessage-deflate; client_max_window_bits, x-webkit-deflate-frame Sec-WebSocket-Key: qrmw/m+BoZije6h9HYKmVw== Sec-WebSocket-Version:13 Upgrade:websocket Server Response: HTTP/1.1 101 Switching Protocols Upgrade: websocket Connection: Upgrade Sec-WebSocket-Accept: jj1g5Io57m9ks8cme3jkbyo2asc= Access-Control-Allow-Origin: http://www.websocket.org Server: xyz Sec-WebSocket-Extensions: Thanks!

  • Response.Redirect causes System.Threading.ThreadAbortException

    - by RandomBen
    When I use Response.Redirect(...) to redirect my form to a new page I get the error: A first chance exception of type 'System.Threading.ThreadAbortException' occurred in mscorlib.dll An exception of type 'System.Threading.ThreadAbortException' occurred in mscorlib.dll but was not handled in user code My understanding of this is that the error is being caused by the webserver aborting the remainder of the page the response.redirect was called on. I know I can add a second parameter to Response.Redirect that is called endResponse. If I set endResponse to True I still get the error but if I set it to False then I do not. I am pretty sure though that that means the webserver is running the rest of the page I redirected away from. Which would seem to be inefficient to say the least. Is there a better way to do this? Something other than Response.Redirect or is there a way to force the old page to stop loading where I will not get a ThreadAbortException?

  • WCF client hangs on response

    - by JohnIdol
    I have a WCF client (running on Win7) pointing to a WebSphere service. All is good from a test harness (a little test fixture outside my web app) but when my calls to the service originate from my web project one of the calls is extremely slow to deserialize (it takes up to 10 times longer) and not just the first time. I can see from fiddler that the response comes back quickly but then the WCF client hangs on the response itself for more than a minute before the next line of code is hit by the debugger, almost if the client was having trouble deserializing. This happens only if in the response I have a given pdf string, base64 encoded chunked. If for example the service raises a fault (this pdf string is not there) then the response is deserialized immediately. Again, If I send the exact same envelope through Soap-UI or from outside the web project all is good. I am at loss - What should I be looking for and is there some config setting that might do the trick? Any help appreciated!

  • Response time increasing (worsening) over time with consistent load

    - by NJ
    Ok. I know I don't have a lot of information. That is, essentially, the reason for my question. I am building a game using Flash/Flex and Rails on the back-end. Communication between the two is via WebORB. Here is what is happening. When I start the client an operation calls the server every 60 seconds (not much, right?) which results in two database SELECTS and an UPDATE and a resulting response to the client. This repeats every 60 seconds. I deployed a test version on heroku and NewRelic's RPM told me that response time degraded over time. One client with one task every 60 seconds. Over several hours the response time drifted from 150ms to over 900ms in response time. I have been able to reproduce this in my development environment (my Macbook Pro) so it isn't a problem on Heroku's side. I am not doing anything sophisticated (by design) in the server app. An action gets called, gets some data from the database, performs an AR update and then returns a response. No caching, etc. Any thoughts? Anyone? I'd really appreciate it.

  • Cache that always returns immediate response?

    - by Col Wilson
    I have a web service that takes a while to build a response despite being tuned as best I can. What I'd like is some sort of cache sitting in front of the service which would always return the last known value from the service, but at the same time pass the request back to the service to build an up to date response for the next request. I'm aware of the limitations that this puts on the freshness of the data, but you can assume that I'm happy to live with that. The technologies I'm using at present are python uwsgi via nginx, but that need not be a limit to any solution you might suggest. Col

  • Custom Response + HTTP status?

    - by Cristian Boariu
    Hi, I have a rest interface for my project. For one class i have a POST method where you can post an xml and i RETURN a custom response like: <userInvitation>Invalid email</userInvitation> if the email from the xml which was posted, was incorrect + other custom messages i have defined for different situations. For all of these the HTTP STATUS is automatically put on 200 (OK). Is there any way to change it? Ps: I know that i can throw a web application like : throw new WebApplicationException(Response.Status.BAD_REQUEST); but in this case my custom response is no more included. So i just want to return my custom error + 400 as http response. Thanks in advance.

  • How I can use X-editable pass value to backend and get response

    - by leonlong
    I am new to jquery, recently I tried to use X-editable to edit a table. after I edited it , I want to pass value to PHP for process, but when I want to return something else back with value, it will get an error. What I mean is usually we can get several response from PHP, but I can get it like that through this. $('#example').editable({ type: 'text', name: 'example', url: 'exprediction.php', ajaxOptions: { dataType: 'json' }, success: function(newValue) { var response = newValue.split("|"); value1 = response[0]; value2 = response[1]; //it did not work } });

  • How does Google manage to serve results so fast?

    - by Quintin Par
    I am building an autocomplete functionality for my site and the Google instant results are my benchmark. When I look at Google, the 50-60 ms response time baffle me. They look insane. In comparison here’s how mine looks like. To give you an idea my results are cached on the load balancer and served from a machine that has httpd slowstart and initcwnd fixed. My site is also behind cloudflare From a server side perspective I don’t think I can do anything more. Can someone help me take this 500 ms response time to 60ms? What more should I be doing to achieve Google level performance?

  • Is there a way to return a response every x seconds or so to a single http request?

    - by luis
    I'm wondering if it's possible to send a response every second or so to a single http request. Like for example the client makes an http request, then the server sends a space character every second. This could be never ending or with a limit, for example a minute. I think the word 'response' is misleading in this context, since I don't necessarily mean an http response. The whole http response could be composed of the space characters, which would mean a single http response to a single http request, except that it is a minute long. I tried chunked encoding but I don't think it works, or at least my implementation's wrong.

  • HttpClient POST fails to submit the form + resulting string is cut-off (incomplete)

    - by Jayomat
    Hi, I'm writing an app to check for the bus timetable's. Therefor I need to post some data to a html page, submit it, and parse the resulting page with htmlparser. Though it may be asked a lot, can some one help me identify if 1) this page does support post/get (I think it does) 2) which fields I need to use? 3) How to make the actual request? this is my code so far: String url = "http://busspur02.aseag.de/bs.exe?Cmd=RV&Karten=true&DatumT=30&DatumM=4&DatumJ=2010&ZeitH=&ZeitM=&Suchen=%28S%29uchen&GT0=&HT0=&GT1=&HT1="; String charset = "CP1252"; System.out.println("startFrom: "+start_from); System.out.println("goTo: "+destination); //String tag.v List<NameValuePair> params = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("HTO", start_from)); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("HT1", destination)); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("GTO", "Aachen")); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("GT1", "Aachen")); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("DatumT", day)); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("DatumM", month)); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("DatumJ", year)); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("ZeitH", hour)); params.add(new BasicNameValuePair("ZeitM", min)); UrlEncodedFormEntity query = new UrlEncodedFormEntity(params, charset); HttpPost post = new HttpPost(url); post.setEntity(query); InputStream response = new DefaultHttpClient().execute(post).getEntity().getContent(); // Now do your thing with the facebook response. String source = readText(response,"CP1252"); Log.d(TAG_AVV,response.toString()); System.out.println("STREAM "+source); EDIT: This is my new code: try { HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); String getURL = "http://busspur02.aseag.de/bs.exe?SID=5FC39&ScreenX=1440&ScreenY=900&CMD=CR&Karten=true&DatumT="+day+"&DatumM="+month+"&DatumJ="+year+"&ZeitH="+hour+"&ZeitM="+min+"&Intervall=60&Suchen=(S)uchen&GT0=Aachen&T0=H&HT0="+start_from+"&GT1=Aachen&T0=H&HT1="+destination+""; HttpGet get = new HttpGet(getURL); HttpResponse responseGet = client.execute(get); HttpEntity resEntityGet = responseGet.getEntity(); if (resEntityGet != null) { //do something with the response Log.i("GET RESPONSE",EntityUtils.toString(resEntityGet)); } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } But the output file is cut-off. • HttpsCookieFilter - IllegalStateException: getOutputStream() has already been called for this response

    - by Mat Banik
    Following exception is thrown every once in a while and it shows up in localhost log file in tomcat log directory. If anyone know how to get rid of it, all help would be appreciated. BTW the filter is working fine I just don't know why this exception is happening. The reason for integrating this filter comes from Spring security FAQs: I'm using Tomcat (or some other servlet container) and have enabled HTTPS for my login page, switching back to HTTP afterwards. It doesn't work - I just end up back at the login page after authenticating. This happens because sessions created under HTTPS, for which the session cookie is marked as “secure”, cannot subsequently be used under HTTP. The browser will not send the cookie back to the server and any session state will be lost (including the security context information). Starting a session in HTTP first should work as the session cookie won't be marked as secure.

  • SSL / HTTP / No Response to Curl

    - by Alex McHale
    I am trying to send commands to a SOAP service, and getting nothing in reply. The SOAP service is at a completely separate site from either server I am testing with. I have written a dummy script with the SOAP XML embedded. When I run it at my local site, on any of three machines -- OSX, Ubuntu, or CentOS 5.3 -- it completes successfully with a good response. I then sent the script to our public host at Slicehost, where I fail to get the response back from the SOAP service. It accepts the TCP socket and proceeds with the SSL handshake. I do not however receive any valid HTTP response. This is the case whether I use my script or curl on the command line. I have rewritten the script using SOAP4R, Net::HTTP and Curb. All of which work at my local site, none of which work at the Slicehost site. I have tried to assemble the CentOS box as closely to match my Slicehost server as possible. I rebuilt the Slice to be a stock CentOS 5.3 and stock CentOS 5.4 with the same results. When I look at a tcpdump of the bad sessions on Slicehost, I see my script or curl send the XML to the remote server, and nothing comes back. When I look at the tcpdump at my local site, I see the response just fine. I have entirely disabled iptables on the Slice. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing these results? Please let me know what additional information I can furnish. Thank you! Below is a wire trace of a sample session. The IP that starts with 173 is my server while the IP that starts with 12 is the SOAP server's. • How to disable windows server 2008 timestamp response

    - by Cal
    Posted this question on stackoverflow but then got instructed to post it here: I was using Rapid7's Nexpose to scan one of our web servers (windows server 2008), and got a vulnerability for timestamp response. According to Rapid7, timestamp response shall be disabled: http://www.rapid7.com/db/vulnerabilities/generic-tcp-timestamp So far I have tried several things: Edit the registry, add a "Tcp1323Opts" key to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters, and set it to 0. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc938205.aspx Use this command: netsh int tcp set global timestamps=disabled Tried powershell command: Set-netTCPsetting -SettingName InternetCustom -Timestamps disabled (got error: Set-netTCPsetting : The term 'Set-netTCPsetting' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.) None of above attempts was successful, after re-scan we still got the same alert. Rapid7 suggested using a firewall that's capable of blocking it, but we want to know if there is a setting on windows to achieve it. Is it through a specific port? If yes, what is the port number? If not, could you suggest a 3rd party firewall that is capable of blocking it? Thank you very much.
