  • Setting subdomain on Localhost?

    I'm trying to test a multi-tenant MVC application (in VS2012) locally by setting a subdomain on localhost. The application is currently running on localhost:5252. I want to access it via both that address, and contoso.localhost:5252. In my hosts file I added the following: 127.0.0.1 contoso.localhost I'm using IISExpress... when I navigate to contoso.localhost locally, I just get the IIS page. What am I doing wrong?

    I have followed multiple online tutorials on setting this up, it is BIND9 on a debian server. It is the only server I have, so it is acting as both ns1, ns1, and the server they domain name should point to itself.     My Del Dimension E521 running Windows 7 puts itself in sleep mode each night -- despite the fact that I have chosen a power option that specifies NEVER Each morning I find the monitor blank and I have to hit the power button on the PC at which point Windows "resumes".     I'm looking for a Firefox setting or extension that can easily toggle between showing and hiding of all images without reloading the page (similar to Opera's feature - the 'Show only cached images' feature is preferable, but optional in my case). I have found an extension that can show/hide images (Image-Show-Hide) but it needs to reload the page to show/hide the images. I prefer that the page not reload when unhiding images from a page previously set to hide all images.

  • Smss.exe - setting any core affinity breaks rdp on Windows 7 / Windows Server 2012

    I have tried to set core affinity of smss.exe to not run on one critical core on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008r2. It turns out that simply setting the core affinity to anything (even the full mask that smss.exe already has) seems to work but prevents users from rdp'ing into the machine until it is restarted. The users already logged in may continue to use their sessions. This behaviour does not occur on Windows 8/Windows Server 2012. Does anyone know why it is happening?

    As part of my web hosting plan i've also got a few domain hosted for family and friends. I have my own FTP account with full access and I would like to give FTP to a web designer and a user. Is there a way for restricing uploads larger than a certian size, or setting a size limit on the folder that the FTP access has access to? I'd rather not let them upload files ridiciously big.   • Setting Cursor property has no effect (C#)

    Hello, I have a class that I've derived from System.Windows.Forms.Panel, and my application has a main form with one of these panels. On the whole, the panel works great! The only thing I'm having trouble with is setting the cursor. Whether I'm setting it to one of the static members of the Cursors class (Default, WaitCursor, etc.) or setting it to a custom cursor that I've loaded from a resource, the end result is the same: it does nothing. I still see the default mouse pointer, no matter what. This line of code is inside a method of my panel-derived class: this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor; I can set a break point there, and see that this line is being hit when I expect it to. I've also created an override for the OnCursorChanged method, and set a breakpoint in there just to see if it's being triggered. I can verify that both breakpoints are being hit when I expect them to. However, the cursor just never changes. There must be something that I'm missing. Does anyone have any ideas? P.S. I also did try setting Current.Cursor as well, however that did not help.
