  • cannot send emails to other Web servers

    I'm trying to limit my server's open ports in CSF. The IPv4 port settings include: # Allow incoming TCP ports TCP_IN = "22,25,53,80,110,143,443,587,3654,53343” # Allow outgoing TCP ports TCP_OUT = "22,53,80,113,443,465,995,3654" # Allow incoming UDP ports UDP_IN = "53" # Allow outgoing UDP ports # To allow outgoing traceroute add 33434:33523 to this list UDP_OUT = "53,113,123" As you see, I have port 25 open in TCP_IN but have removed it from TCP_OUT. The reason is I wanted to have my mails transmitted over smtps, so I have port 465 opened instead in TCP_OUT. Since I am using Rouncube in Directpanel, I have also set the following in Rouncube's config.inc.php: $config['default_host'] = 'ssl://mail.mydomain.com'; $config['smtp_server'] = 'ssl://mail.mydomain.com'; $config['smtp_port'] = 465; However, when I remove port 25 from TCP_OUT, I no longer can send mails, say, to gmail, though I can send mails to own. But I can receive all mails. Please let me know if I need to make any further changes. Do I need to disable port 25 at all, to have my mails sent via ssl. Thanks

    I am trying to configure DNSSec with BIND9 on CentOS 6.4 running DirectAdmin control panel.     The server is running CentOS 5 with DirectAdmin. I am trying to get ProfFTPD work over TLS, however it seems that proftpd is lacking mod_tls support, even though it was compiled with mod_tls. # proftpd -l Compiled-in modules: mod_core.c mod_xfer.c mod_auth_unix.c mod_auth_file.c mod_auth.c mod_ls.c mod_log.c mod_site.c mod_delay.c mod_facts.c mod_ident.c mod_ratio.c mod_readme.c mod_cap.c As you can see there is no mod_tls.c, however, the DirectAdmin configuration file for proftpd suggests that it was built with TLS support: # cat /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/configure/proftpd/configure.proftpd #!/bin/sh install_user=ftp \ install_group=ftp \ ./configure \ --prefix=/usr \ --sysconfdir=/etc \ --localstatedir=/var/run \ --mandir=/usr/share/man \ --without-pam \ --disable-auth-pam \ --enable-nls \ --with-modules=mod_ratio:mod_readme:mod_tls And all I get when I try to connect over FTPS using FileZilla is: Raspuns: 220 ProFTPD 1.3.3c Server ready.   • Migrating email forwarding entries from DirectAdmin to Google App (Free edition)

    I have a website hosted in a shared hosting account and it contains a DirectAdmin (DA) control panel. From there, I can see some email forwarding entries. I would like to migrate the email server to the Google App's, I am going to change the MX records to point to Google email server in the DA. For the existing email accounts that I see in the DA, I will re-create them in the Google App. But for those email forwarding entries, I am confused. If I keep them there, will they still work after I have changed the MX record pointing to the Google email server? If not, this means I will need to re-create them in the Google App, right? Unfortunately, Google App (Free edition) does not seem to allow email forwarding like those in DA. Unless I choose to use other editons (http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=175745). In DA, when I have created an email forwarding entry such as [email protected] - [email protected], I do not really need to create a dummy [email protected] email account and DA will still do the forwarding properly. The best I can do now, without upgrading the Google App edition, is to simply create dummy email accounts in the Google App and setup forwarding inside that email account, is this correct?

    I just set up an new DirectAdmin, and I want to prepare it for IPv6 use. My ISP have gave me an range of IPv6 addresses that I can use. Lets say that address is 2a01:7c8:**:1f::. My neworkadapter user DHCP to resolves its IP-addresses. When i type ifoncig eth0 I get the following result: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 52:**:**:**:ce:f3 inet addr:37.**.**.44 Bcast:37.**.**.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: 2a01:7c8:****:1f::/64 Scope:Global inet6 addr: fe80::5054:ff:fe87:cef3/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:38941 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:29439 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:3779534 (3.6 MiB) TX bytes:5089379 (4.8 MiB) As you can see, I have an IPv6 address set, but I can't ping6 an IPv6 host. I get the error: connect: Network is unreachable. I decided that I needed an gateway, so I tryed to add one: ip -6 route add default via 2a01:7c8:****::1 dev eth0 (2a01:7c8:**::1 is the gateway of my ISP). But it trows an error: RTNETLINK answers: No route to host. Does somebody know what to do, and how to solve this issue? Thanks a lot!

  • Domain names timing out after VPS IP change

    I rent a CentOS 5 VPS from a UK-based provider, with DirectAdmin also installed. On Thursday night, they carried out planned maintenance to changed the two IPs I had been assigned to two new ones. On Friday, after the change had taken place, I updated my domain name records to reflect the IP change. Since then, all of the domains pointing to the VPS are timing out. Additionally, DirectAdmin was also not responding, but was was resolved by running the ipswap scripts as found in the DirectAdmin knowledgebase. It did not fix my domains though. I have contacted the VPS provider but I have been waiting for a response for some time now. I have checked again, and again, and all the IPs referenced in DirectAdmin are correct. If I go to the server IP in my browser it responds with "Apache is functioning normally." Email accounts on the server are also functioning correctly. But if I access a domain itself, it times out. Running a ping and a DNS look-up, I can confirm the nameserver IPs are correct. If I run a trace route it reaches an IP that is similar to my VPS IPs (last 2 blocks are different) before timing out (it never shows my server IP). I am relatively new to VPS management so don't have a vast wealth of experience with troubleshooting problems on them. I have checked all of the httpd configuration files, which don't seem to have any IP references in them at all. Looking in the Apache error logs, what errors there are do not coincide with times I have tried to access the site. Is this issue at my provider's end? Is there anything else I can check or test, to rule out post-IP-change problems with my server configuration? It was all running fine prior to the IP change.

    My boss asked me to set up Google Apps for a client and basically I have done everything including setting up MX records in DirectAdmin and re-creating the email accounts in Google Apps. I also sent a few test emails to ensure that it actually works and it seems fine. But then I discovered this article talking about changing the SPF record for the domain. http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?answer=178723 After reading the introduction I think it would be better for me to change the SPF record according to this article. So I logged in to the DirectAdmin and navigated to the DNS management, and then I found that there's already a TXT SPF record there: v=spf1 a mx a:spf.cabin.com.hk include:gmail.com -all And it looks like it's already including gmail.com, but according to the article it should be: _spf.google.com rather than: gmail.com I dare not to change it before I understand what this record actually means. What would you do with this record if you were me?

  • Sudden problems with iptables not running

    I've got a sudden issue with iptables not running on my CentOS 5.8/DirectAdmin XenVPS. All I have done today is install PHP APC and run an update (although I admittedly didn't pay much attention today - I usually do). Iptables has been running fairly smoothly since I installed it over 6 months ago. Basically when I try to run iptables -L it tells me: iptables v1.3.5: can't initialize iptables table `filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. I've looked around and tried a few things and it appears that maybe my kernel doesn't have the modules loaded? I've been reading this and tried the two commands they suggest to no avail.     I'm trying to use 'sdd' on my Debian system, and can't get one set of options to work. They do work in 'dd' so I am wondering if I am specifying them incorrectly, or if sdd didn't implement them, or something else. What I want to do is sdd if=/dev/hdh1 of=/bay5/imagebay1 bs=4096 conv=sync,noerror if I leave out the "conv=..." option, it works, or at least starts copying data. sdd if=/dev/hdh1 of=/bay5/imagebay1 bs=4096 Can you shed a bit of light?

  • Two SSL certs for a domain in DirectAdmin

    If I were to get 2 SSL certificates, one for example.com and one for www.example.com, is there a way to install them both on the site example.com in DirectAdmin? The default interface only allows installing one for both versions. If not, can I separate the 2 domains into 2 sites? One of them would only be a redirection, so there wouldn't be any duplication of site files. (Please don't answer with "one certificate should work for both". It doesn't always. This is a DirectAdmin question)

  • Fresh install CentOS 6.4 64b with directadmin slowly consumes all memory and crashes

    Dear server fault community, This is my first question on server fault, i'm new to server (mis)configuration so please forgive me for asking something stupid :) I'm running Directadmin on a CentOS 6.4 64b with 4GB memory and over 10000Gh virtual machine. I migrated my websites because my former vps couldn't keep up anymore. Only half of the websites from this 1GB machine were migrated jet. So the migration is still in progress and already my server crashes every day. The server performance up until that moment is perfect. The directadmin log files show nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday only the mysql server crashed but it also crashed the entire machine before. The memory usage in DA seems to be normal: directadmin directadmin (pid 3923 22158 22159 22160 22161 22162 )8.75 MB dovecot dovecot (pid 3851 ) 47.8 MB exim exim (pid 1350 ) 1.29 MB httpd (pid 21525 21528 21529 21530 21531 21532 21546 21571 21742 21743 21744 )490.4 MB mysqld mysqld (pid 1299 ) 287.8 MB named named (pid 3807 ) 16.3 MB proftpd proftpd (pid 1481 ) 1.91 MB sshd sshd (pid 1173 21494 ) 5.16 MB Restarting services immediately frees up memory, but slowly over time the memory usage increases(about 24 hours to crash). The commands: # sync # echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches Will free al memory correct. I could just create a cronjob but it seems the wrong way around to me. I can't seem to pinpoint the cause. Any advices, references or tips are highly appreciated!   • DirectAdmin Centos4 server has virus

    Hello all, I have a problem with a webserver that runs Centos4 with DirectAdmin. Since a few weeks some websites hosted on it are not redirecting on search engines properly, they are redirected to some malware site, resulting in a ban from google. Now I have used 3 virusscanners: ClamAV: Didn't find anything Bitdefender: Found a 2-3 files with JS infection, deleted them AVG: Finds lots of files, but doesn't have the option to clean! The virus that it finds is: JS/Redir JS/Dropper Still the strange thing is: website a (www.aa.com) does not have any infected files (have gone through all the files manually, is a custom PHP app, nothing special) but does still have the same virus. Website b (www.bb.com) does have the infected files as only one. I deleted all these files and suspended the account, but no luck, still the same error. I do get the log entries on the website from the searchengines so the DNS entries are not changed. But now I have gone through the httpd files but cannot find anything. Where can I start looking for this?

  • Multi-level shop, xml or sql. best practice?

    Hello, i have a general "best practice" question regarding building a multi-level shop, which i hope doesn't get marked down/deleted as i personally think it's quite a good "subjective" question. I am a developer in charge (in most part) of maintaining and evolving a cms system and associated front-end functionality. Over the past half year i have developed a multiple level shop system so that an infinite level of categories may exist down into a product level and all works fine. However over the last week or so i have questioned by own methods in front-end development and the best way to show the multi-level data structure. I currently use a sql server database (2000) and pull out all the shop levels and then process them into an enumerable typed list with child enumerable typed lists, so that all levels are sorted. This in my head seems quite process heavy, but we're not talking about thousands of rows, generally only 1-500 rows maybe. I have been toying with the idea recently of storing the structure in an XML document (as well as the database) and then sending last modified headers when serving/requesting the document for, which would then be processed as/when nessecary with an xsl(t) document - which would be processed server side. This is quite a handy, reusable method of storing the data but does it have more overheads in the fact im opening and closing files? And also the xml will require a bit of processing to pull out blocks of xml if for instance i wanted to show two level mid way through the tree for a side menu. I use the above method for sitemap purposes so there is currently already code i have built which does what i require, but unsure what the best process is to go about. Maybe a hybrid method which pulls out the data, sorts it and then makes an xml document/stream (XDocument/XmlDocument) for xsl processing is a good way? - This is the way i currently make the cms work for the shop. So really (and thanks for sticking with me on this), i am just wandering which methods other people use or recommend as being the best/most logical way of doing things. Thanks Dan

    I'm looking for the way to get the direct link from mediafire. By default, when a user visits a download link, he will be presented with a download page where he has to wait for the download to be processed and then a link will appear. I googled and found a VB.NET 2008 solution to this using WebBrowser WB http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=556681 It works pretty well but I'm tired of pop-up windows and the loading speed. So, I wonder if there is a solution to this problem? (a non WB solution ^^) Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • NetBeans not liking libraries in lib-src

    I'm working on a project with a group that is using Eclipse, but I'm using Netbeans. Up until today this wasn't an issue. When updating from the repo they have added some source code as a library under a directory called /lib-src. When I try to compile the code I get an error that it can't find certain packages... these are the packages under /lib-src. Using NetBeans I can add the library as a folder so now the references to those packages are happy.     I work for a large corporation, but we do small intranet web application development. Our project management tracking sucks. Its custom software built by a jr. intern. For what its worth, our development style is akin to agile, but there's nothing set in stone...very customer oriented approach. I need project tracking that meets the criteria: Intranet, internal products. Mostly maintenance, some new development. 5 developers 12 products 1 hands-off manager. He really just wants to know estimated man hours, due date for dev, QA and release. Along with a short description of the project. Free or super cheap. Bonus Simple pretty UI. Think pretty charts. Hope I covered everything. Please ask for any clarification. If you read dreaming in code, the company uses some project tracking software that sounds pretty sweet. Note, we do have Team Foundation Server. I already tried pushing its use as PM tracking, but its too complicated. I can't get people to sit and train. So this software has to be easy.

  • Tutorial (or livedisk) for multiseat setup with dual-head display supporting openGL direct rendering?

    I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit), the GPU is an ATI Radeon HD 4290 onboard a ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 mainboard. The Ubuntu wiki doesn't cover 10.10 yet and I also don't know if that method would support direct rendering. I heard mentions of xephyr and xgl, what are the differences? Where should I start? I tried the mdm livedisk but that doesn't boot. I'm also willing to try a different distribution if necessary. Edit: 1 Will the HowTo: A well performing, full eye-candy, accelerated pseudo-multiseat setup on a single dualhead GPU. for Ubuntu 9.04 still work? I'm afraid it omits how to setup two input devices and sound however... Edit: 2 http://multiseatonlinux.blogspot.com/2010/06/part-1-setting-up-base.html covers 10.10 but requires pinning gdm. Is that circumvenatable? Also how does that setup have to be modified for dual-head?

    I have a working SAT implementation, but I am running into a problem where direct collisions at a corner do not work for tiled surfaces. That is, it clips on the surface when going in a certain direction because it gets hung up on one of the tiles, and so, for example, if I walk across a floor while holding both down and left, the player will stop when meeting the next shape because the player will be colliding with the right side rather than with the top of the floor tile. This illustration shows what I mean: The top block will translate right first and then up. I have checked here and here which are helpful, but this does not address what I should do in a situation where I don't have a tile-based world. My usage of the term "tile" before isn't really accurate since what I'm doing here is manually placing square obstacles next to each other, not assigning them spots on a grid. What can I do to fix this?

  • How to direct a Network Solutions domain name to an html website hosted on Google Drive? [on hold]

    To begin with, I'd wanted to take advantage of HTML, CSS, and so on to build a website that looks and works just as I'd like it to. I took a look around on how I could make that work, and I soon saw a lifehacker article showing that its possible to host website files on google drive. I then made sure that the folder containing the files was shared publicly throughout the web, and I now have a working 'google drive hosted' domain for the website. However, I did want to have the custom domain, and so I registered one with network solutions. So now, I'm curious on how I should direct my Network Solutions domain to the index.html I'm hosting on google drive. Would anyone have an Idea?
