• How do I style buttons in a LinearLayout like a ListView

- by Mannaz
I have a vertically orientated LinearLayout with some Buttons in it: <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> </LinearLayout> and I want this "List" of buttons to inherit the current style for ListView items. This is my current status of the stylesheet. The CKButton style gets applied over the Activity Theme. As you see I tried to draw the button background myself, but depending on the system default theme the background-color changes and therefore defining a static color is not an option. Is there a way to inherit the default ListView Row background within that buttons?

• Telerik RadEditor for MOSS - How do I suppress min-width inline CSS?

- by James
I'm having an issue with the RadEditor for MOSS, I'm really baffled as to the source of this issue. I tried using Firebug to find where any min-* CSS settings are happening and search came up empty, but I know it's happening because the downloaded page markup does not have that inline CSS. I believe that one of the Telerik control emitted Javascripts is what is adding inline CSS style to the top level div of the editor, namely min-height, min-width. This is causing layout issues on my page. My question is why is it doing this, and more importantly how do I prevent this from happening?
Related thread

• WPF: Convert string to system.windows.style

- by xscape
Is it possible to convert string to system.windows.style? How? Example: The style above is stored in my .resx. • wpf toolkit (Feb 2010) datagrid with MVVM - style reveals name of view model on 'spare column'

- by Andy Clarke
Hi, I've just updated my app with the latest WPF toolkit and I've now got an issue with my styling. When I bind some data with, for example, two columns to the grid, the spare area at the right shows the name of the ViewModel in the header. I can understand why, because the data grids data context is the ViewModel and I'm defining my header style as follows ... <WpfToolkit:DataGridHeaderBorder <Border BorderBrush="Blue" BorderThickness="0,1,0,0"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding}" Margin="4,0,4,0" /> </Border> </WpfToolkit:DataGridHeaderBorder> Do I now need a separate style for the 'spare column' or something? Can anyone assist please? Cheers, Andy

• WPF ToolTip Style with dynamic LayoutTransform

- by NoOne
I have an app that scales it's UI and I want to scale the ToolTips with it. I have tried doing this: ...where scaleTransf is a resource that I change via code: Application.Current.Resources["scaleTransf"] = new ScaleTransform(...); Most of the ToolTips do get scaled in size but some of them that are created by C# code don't get scaled. I've checked and it seems that I don't set their Style or LayoutTransform by code, so I don't really understand what is going wrong... Moreover, I have the impression that the above XAML code worked fine a few days ago. :( Is there sth I can do to make it work all the time without setting the LayoutTransform in code-behind? EDIT : The ToolTips that don't change scale are the ones that have become visible before. EDIT2 : Extra code: <ScaleTransform x:Key="scaleTransf" ScaleX="1" ScaleY="1"/> I have also tried this: Application.Current.Resources.Remove("scaleTransf"); Application.Current.Resources.Add("scaleTransf", new ScaleTransform(val, val)); EDIT3 : My attempt to solve this using a DependencyProperty: In MainWindow.xaml.cs : public static readonly DependencyProperty TransformToApplyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("TransformToApply", typeof(Transform), typeof(MainWindow)); public Transform TransformToApply { get { return (Transform)this.GetValue(TransformToApplyProperty); } } Somewhere in MainWindow, in response to a user input: this.SetValue(TransformToApplyProperty, new ScaleTransform(val, val)); XAML Style: </ComboBox.Resources> <ComboBoxItem > <DockPanel > </DockPanel> </ComboBoxItem> </ComboBox> This works fine. Now, I add an additional button within the same ComboBoxItem, but have it set to Visibility Collapsed. <ComboBox > <ComboBox.Resources> </ComboBox.Resources> <ComboBoxItem > <DockPanel > </DockPanel> </ComboBoxItem> </ComboBox> Now, the new button is invisible, but I expected my original button to still stretch the entire ComboBox, like it does with the above code. However, it does not. Why is this so? Is there a solution for this? I am using DataTriggers to edit the Visibility property. NOTE: I also get the same thing if I just set HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch" in the ComboBox. UPDATE: Ok, this actually has something to do with the DockPanel. I changed it to a StackPanel, and it works as desired. However, I suppose I'm still curious as to why my first button would not stretch the entire DockPanel if the second button is collapsed?

• WPF ListBox's scrollviewer customizable so that there is no Scrollbar, only RepeatButtons

Hi I would like to customize the scrollbars of a listbox's scrollviewer in such a way that the scrollbar only consists of a RepeatButton for scrolling up and a Repeatbutton for scrolling down. Nothing else. There should be no scrollbar (track) between the buttons. One button should be to the left of the ItemsPanel (scroll up) and the other on the right of the ItemsPanel. Is that possible?

• Changing CSS Rules using JavaScript or jQuery

- by Praveen Kumar
Initial Research I am aware of using .css() to get and set the CSS rules of a particular element. I have seen a website with this CSS: body, table td, select { font-family: Arial Unicode MS, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; } I never liked Arial Unicode as a font. Well, that was my personal feel. So, I would use Chrome's Style Inspector to edit the Arial Unicode MS to Segoe UI or something which I like. Is there anyway, other than using the following to achieve the same? Case I $("body, table td, select").css("font-family", "Segoe UI"); Recursive, performance intensive. Doesn't work when things are loaded on the fly. Case II $('') .appendTo("head"); Any other better method than this? Creates a lot of tags!

• As our favorite imperative languages gain functional constructs, should loops be considered a code s

- by Michael Buen
In allusion to Dare Obasanjo's impressions on Map, Reduce, Filter (Functional Programming in C# 3.0: How Map/Reduce/Filter can Rock your World) "With these three building blocks, you could replace the majority of the procedural for loops in your application with a single line of code. C# 3.0 doesn't just stop there." Should we increasingly use them instead of loops? And should be having loops(instead of those three building blocks of data manipulation) be one of the metrics for coding horrors on code reviews? And why? [NOTE] I'm not advocating fully functional programming on those codes that could be simply translated to loops(e.g. tail recursions) Asking for politer term. Considering that the phrase "code smell" is not so diplomatic, I posted another question http://stackoverflow.com/questions/432492/whats-the-politer-word-for-code-smell about the right word for "code smell", er.. utterly bad code. Should that phrase have a place in our programming parlance?
