Hi
i want to install internet explorer 6 in windows vista but i can't, is there a way to do?
i just want to test my website on it to fix some css bugs.
Thanks
I burned a CD on XP using the built-in burning software and I can read the CD on that machine, but when I insert it into my Vista machine, I can't read the files. It shows the correct volume label, and the correct 'free space', but I can't access the actual files.
Am I missing something obvious?
(Both systems are fully up-to-date)
Am using ROXIO
1. to copy DVD file to my computer
2. to trim a section of the video
3. to convert the file to wmv and this is where Windows Vista gives the message that the program cannot continue.
4. I have followed all of the instructions from ROXIO support to clean my system and do a new install.
It still does not work
Anybody know how to resolve the problem?
I am creating an intranet website on a Vista 32 machine with IIS7. On my machine it works great! However, when other users on our network try to connect to it they get an error saying "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to computername". Perhaps this is because the NTFS and/or IIS permissions are not set correctly.
How do I set the permissions to publish a website on the intranet?
Thanks in advance, Dan
Hi, at my work computer, a Dell package computer with Vista Business, I turn it on, it shows the Dell boot screen then just hangs forever. Can get into the Bios and boot settings, but other than that, just hangs. What could cause this? No one's been here over the weekend and it was fine on friday.
Thanks.
The idea is to use Vista RFM as a freeware version of Windows to allow Mac users running a Windows-based application via VirtualBox.
Is there a way to make that possible (starting the program automatically in RFM)?
Thanks!
I'm sitting under Vista and the problem is -- though I can see disc number of track in Winamp or some other multimedia players, I cannot sort files by disc number in Windows Explorer.
I've scanned through the whole long list of available properties of files but haven't found "disc number" or similar property.
So is there any way to sort tracks by disc number in Windows Explorer, and if there is, then how to do it?
I have a problem with the calendar gadget in Vista. The starting day is Sunday, but I would like to change it to Monday.
I have checked some forums which points me in the direction that:
Change the Regional Settings in ControlPanel to your local region
Change the register key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/International/iFirstDayOfWeek to 0
Both of these are already correct, so it didn't help me.. Does anyone else have a suggestions?
On Windows Vista, I right-click on a folder, Properties, Sharing tab, and either "Advanced Sharing" or "Share"-"Share" causes an error:
Windows File Sharing
This program will not run
Access is denied.
Close
My user account is an "administrator" on this machine.
I think this behavior changed since my computer was added to the new domain recently. I have other folders shared (from long ago), and they continue to be shared just fine.
I can not access Contol panel in my windows vista machine.
As soon as i click the "conrol panel" item in start items, it shows up a window and then its closed automatically ( same happens if i use "control" command).
Is there some program or some registry entry thats restricting it? is ther a way to control this behaviour?
I have OS X Server installed. I am using Window Vista on a PC.
But on my network I can't see the OS X server. But I can see other Mac computers in shared but not OS X server.
I am able to ping the IP.
What should I do?

I'm using Office 2007 on Windows Vista and occasionally, when copying from Word to Excel, or text from a website to Word, I will get the hour glass for 10 + seconds and sometimes for about a minute. It should just be simple text and I don't understand why it takes so long.
Today, after I clicked "folder X" in my external hard drive, instead of seeing the contents of "folder X", I see the contents of my flash drive (the last time it was connected)...which is not connected to my computer. My flash drive's files show for a couple of seconds before I am brought to "folder X" which was the folder I wanted to go to as mentioned in the beginning of this post.
Any idea why this happened? I'm using Vista 32-bit business edition.
I have two PCs (different specs) with the latest Windows Vista and Safari 4 updates installed. In one machine, Safari 4 works great but in the other, it starts up slowly (less than a minute though) with harddisk sound indicating data access activities.
I have cleared all internet caches and I am quite sure that there is no virus in both machines. Are there any other reasons that Safari performances are so different in comparably similar software and hardware environments?
I have a PC running Opensuse 11.0 Linux. I currently login using ssh with putty. However this is a command line login. How to do a remote xserver login from windows to run a gnome or kde session. what software should I use?
I have the root password for the Linux PC and admin privileges on vista.
I have Windows Vista on my computer, and it says it has a very good connection to my wireless router, but it doesn't display any webpages in Firefox or IE. It just says "Can't find this page".
Any ideas?
It continues to loop to a BSOD and I cant get a dos prompt or repair screen, I dont have recovery disks but I have brought up a window, black, with gray title bar that is labeled Edit Boot Options, below that it has Edit Windows boot options for: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
Path: \WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe
Partition:1
Hard Disk: 1549f232
and then it has a place to enter something starting with one of these [ and one or two lines down it has ] what do i enter in this space and is there something i can enter that would help solve my boot up issues
I went to Disk Management and right-click C drive to shrink.
It started the process and after long time passed, 'Access denied' error came out.
I tried a couple of times, but all are the same result.
Could anyone help me how to partition C drive on Vista please?
Thanks in advance.
I know how to change my color scheme in Vista. What I despair about is that after I change it, if I switch to another scheme (such as back to Aero), my customized scheme is gone. If I want, I can take another 30 minutes to customize it so it doesn't burn out my eyes. Is there any way to save this scheme? I tried doing the color scheme change, then trying to save the whole thing as a theme, all to no avail.
According to an article today in the register Microsoft will no longer support Vista from the end of this month.
I have a laptop that is not even a year old using an operating system that will not even have had a year's support.
Is anyone else angry that they are paying for inferior and unsupported products from Microsoft?
My Windows Vista Desktop icon are all gone and I cant set them again! Is there any registry key to show them back? I used regsvr32 /u shell32.dll command but still nothing shows? what should I do?
My HP d330 does not properly shutdown, after Vista "shutting down" message the lcd screen goes black, but both HD + Power Leds remain on.. Any ideas?
