  • Azure and native code

    - by bertelmonster2k
It looks like you can host native code on Azure: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd573362.aspx. Is it possible to run a socket server (listening tcp/udp) here? And even hosting a CLR on top?

  • SmallestDotNet as CustomAction after MSI installation

    - by Kai
Is there anything to be said againt installing SmallestDotNet 3.5 (http://www.hanselman.com/blog/SmallestDotNetOnTheSizeOfTheNETFramework.aspx) as a CustomAction after MSI installation to ensure that .NET 3.5 is installed? I've found many more complicated ways which (partly) include .NET framework into the installer. How would you install (if necessary) the .NET 3.5 framework after msi installation automatically?

  • service not defined when precompiling a web app with AJAX-enabled WCF Service

    - by Omar Mefire
I created a web application in which one .aspx page calls an AJAX-enabled WCF service (created with Visual Studio 2008 Add New Item - AJAX-enabled WCF Service). when I test the application in Visual Studio, it works and the page can call the service from Javascript but when I "publish" (code precompilation using Visual Studio) it to the local IIS Server, I get an error : "service ThunServ is undefined" in my .html page. I've been spending quite a time to solve this problem but to no avail. Attarea.

  • CompilationMode=Never & SessionState

    - by Nariman
It seems that CompilationMode=Never doesn't permit Sessions to be properly wired. It first complains that the EnbaleSessionState directive is not allowed on this page. Explicitly assigning the System.Web.SessionState.IRequiresSessionState to the Page [1] avoids the null reference exceptions (around .Session access) but still doesn't persist or wire-up sessions correctly. Has anyone successfully used ASP.NET Sessions with CompilationMode=Never? Conceptually, why should these be disjoint?? Following the steps in this post: http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/t/177042.aspx Where/How do I add the [Key] attribute on the Name property of the IAuthentication where User is one of my ADO.Net Entity objects? My options so far seem to be: In the designer codebehind of me ADO.Net Entity Model. Create a partial User class and add it there In the AuthenticationService.metadata.cs partial User class. Where can I find a practical example on how to use Bug, Risk, Scenario, Task and Quality of Service Requirement work items? On MSDN documentation I found this topic: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb668962.aspx but it is not enough for me to deeply understand when to use one or the other. Thanks!

    - by chobo2
Hi I am looking at this tutorial http://www.codeproject.com/KB/cpp/authforwebservices.aspx and I am wondering what the reason for using authentication through soap is? Like why not just pass the username and password through the parameters instead? Is it more secure to do it like the way the guy is in the tutorial verus just using passing it through as parameters? Thanks
