    I installed wine by doing sudo apt-get install wine and everything went well, but at the end I get the "Package configuration" and the title says configuring ttf-mscorefonts-installer and they talk about 1.GRANT OF LICENSE 2.DESCRIPITION OF OTHER GRANTS AND LIMITATIONS 3.COPYRIGHT U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS The problem is that they give all this at the end but there is nothing I can do say "ok" or something, thus, wine is not installed. Any help please?

    I found some topics about dualbooting, but nothing was exactly what I need, so: I have Win7 and I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS from a flash drive. Everything went smoothly and I was given the "for installation to finish, need to reboot" screen. I removed the flash drive, the PC restarted. I was expecting to be greeted with the menu where I choose the OS I want to launch, but instead the Windows happily starts.

    I am currently in China and I would like to still visit some blocked websites (facebook, youtube). I have VPS in the USA and I have installed tinyproxy on it. I log in on my VPS with SSH port-forwarding and I have configured my browser appropriately. Everything works more or less: I can surf to those websites but everything is inusually slow and sometimes data transfer stops abruptly.   • Networking stopped working on Ubuntu

    I installed Ubuntu 10.04 through the Wubi installer (Funny, I installed it today and thought I would have gotten 10.10). I had a network connection and everything was working fine. I rebooted my coumputer a couple of times and then suddenly, I could not connect to the network and when I click the wireless/networking icon it says "Networking Disabled". I reinstalled Ubuntu and the problem went away. After a few reboots the problem returned. I have tried restarting to see if it would come back as well as a few other things listed below. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Tried to restart networking via /etc/init.d/networking: amato@ubuntu:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart * Reconfiguring network interfaces...     In Microsoft Project 2007 Professional, If I select Tools Macro Security the message: The file "STDOLE.TLB" cannot be found or contains a Visual Basic for Applications library that is not valid. Verify that the file name is correct, and try again. If the Visual Basic for Applications library is invalid, reinstall Project. I am a software developer and I have developed an Add-In for MS Project using Visual Studio 2005, with all the problems that entails. As such my machine is configured with both Project 2003 Professional and Project 2007 Professional. I only noticed this error when trying to debug my Add-In. The Add-In loads and draws the menu, but when I click on the menu option I receive this error (which is also generated by the Tools Macros Security option mentioned above). I have tried repairing office installations and uninstalling everything and then re-installing everything all over again, but after several hours I still get the same problem. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? Some method of finding out what type libraries are registered with STDOLE2.TLB may help if I can identify what is causing the problem. Also a way of manually unregistering the nasty library may be helpful. My machine is configured as follows: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Project 2003 Professional Office 2007 Ultimate Project 2007 Professional Visio 2007 Professional Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Developers Visual Studio 2005 Tools for Office Second edition Visual Studio 2008 Professional I also installed MS Project 2010 Beta to test my Add-In against, but have since uninstalled it. I have a suspicion that this may have caused the problem, but I cannot be sure.

    I so sick and tired of having my components pass the minimum requirements of a game and then I get 15 FPS on the game on everything low. Should't PC developers say 'use at least this video card for a smooth 30 FPS'? Here are my specs: Windows 7 2GB DDR2 RAM XFX Nvidia 9400gt Intel Pentium D Dual Core 2.8ghz I should be at LEAST getting 30 FPS on everything low right? Please tell me what I can do to make games run as they should, or is my video card not good for these games? Here are the recommended requirements from the official site: Recommended System Requirements for Mass Effect on the PC Operating System: Windows XP or Vista Processor: 2.6+GHZ Intel or 2.4+GHZ AMD Memory: 2 Gigabyte Ram Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX or higher.   • Windows 7 Folder Redirection (GPO)

    Hi - I have been fighting this issue for a day or two now, so I am looking for some insight. I am taking over admin duties in a domain of 800 users, and the previous admins really did not employ much of any GPO settings for the clients of the Domain. In each site, there is a location on the file server where "Home" folders were manually created. EX: \server\home\enduser Whenever a user got a machine, the admin would manually right-click on the "My Documents" folder and manually enter the path to the home folder. We are planning to start putting Windows 7 machines on the Network, and I am wanting to automate as much as I can, everything that was not done in the past. Since everyone has exising "Home" folders I have been fighting and trying to get Folder Redirection to work with a new Windows 7 machine (In a Test OU). I am getting all kinds of errors and I can't get the Windows 7 "Documents" folder to redirect to the users EXISTING home folders. As I stated earlier, all of the Home folders were (and still are) manually created on the File Server and are set with the following Security permissions - Domain Admins - Full Control euser (end user) - Modify (Everything but Full) Can someone point me in the right direction on the proper setting to put in the Folder Redirection GPO to get this to work with the Existing Home folders. I can't seem to make it work but I will keep trying. Thanks In Advance !

    Hi There, I've been wracking my brains trying to get Windows 7 authenticating against a MIT Kerberos 5 Realm (which is running on an Arch Linux server). I've done the following on the server (aka dc1): Installed and configured a NTP time server Installed and configured DHCP and DNS (setup for the domain tnet.loc) Installed Kerberos from source Setup the database Configured the keytab Setup the ACL file with: *@TNET.LOC * Added a policy for my user and my machine: addpol users addpol admin addpol hosts ank -policy users [email protected] ank -policy admin tom/[email protected] ank -policy hosts host/wdesk3.tnet.loc -pw MYPASSWORDHERE I then did the following to the windows 7 client (aka wdesk3): Made sure the ip address was supplied by my DHCP server and dc1.tnet.loc pings ok Set the internet time server to my linux server (aka dc1.tnet.loc) Used ksetup to configure the realm: ksetup /SetRealm TNET.LOC ksetup /AddKdc dc1.tnet.loc ksetip /SetComputerPassword MYPASSWORDHERE ksetip /MapUser * * After some googl-ing I found that DES encryption was disabled by Windows 7 by default and I turned the policy on to support DES encryption over Kerberos Then I rebooted the windows client However after doing all that I still cannot login from my Windows client. :( Looking at the logs on the server; the request looks fine and everything works great, I think the issue is that the response from the KDC is not recognized by the Windows Client and a generic login error appears: "Login Failure: User name or password is invalid". The log file for the server looks like this (I tail'ed this so I know it's happening when the Windows machine attempts the login): Screen-shot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/577250/email/login_attempt.png If I supply an invalid realm in the login window I get a completely different error message, so I don't think it's a connection problem from the client to the server? But I can't find any error logs on the Windows machine? (anyone know where these are?) If I try: runas /netonly /user:[email protected] cmd.exe everything works (although I don't get anything appear in the server logs, so I'm wondering if it's not touching the server for this??), but if I run: runas /user:[email protected] cmd.exe I get the same authentication error. Any Kerberos Gurus out there who can give me some ideas as to what to try next? pretty please?

  • Getting SMB file shares working over a PPTP VPN

    I'm having issues getting SMB file shares working over a PPTP VPN. The server setup consists of a security device (DrayTek V3300) which passes the PPTP authentication to a SBS2003 server running RRAS. The server is the DC and provides DNS and WINS, the single NIC's name server is set to the NIC's IP (192.168...), and DHCP on the DrayTek sets the server IP as the DNS. If I create a new VPN connection in Win7, leaving everything as default apart from the server, username, password and domain, I can: ping everything by IP address resolve IPs with nslookup using their fully-qualified name, as in nslookup fileserver.mydomain.local ping machines by fully-qualified name, as in ping fileserver.mydomain.local However if I try to access a file share: within Explorer, I get "Windows cannot access ..." with "Error code: 0x80004005 Unspecified Error", using net use z: \\fileserver.mydomain.local\share, I get "System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found." If I add the machine name to my HOSTS file I can use the file share, which is my last-ditch workaround, but I have a number of VPN users and would rather a solution that doesn't involve me trying to hand-edit system files on computers half a country away. If I set the WINS server explicitly in the connection's IPv4 settings I don't have to use the FQN to ping the machine, but that doesn't change anything else. EDIT: The PC I'm having the issue on is running Win 7 Home Premium. After more testing I actually have two other PCs that work, one W7HP, one XP Home, and another Vista PC that doesn't work (not tested as much as the others), all four on the same internet connection (behind the same router). All of them were tested with a straight-forward, all defaults, new VPN configuration.

    When I start my Windows 7, I get a notification The system event notification service could not be started.... As a result, I dont have Aero, even though my Windows Experience Index is 3.2. Aero used to work fine before today and I have not installed any new application. I have checked the event log and it reads: The System Event Notification Service service terminated with the following error: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. I am not sure what this means. I have seen the services.msc and everything is fine there. Moreover the startup time has also extended and the Please wait stays for more than a minute. This is a sudden problem as everything used to work fine until today. For Aero I have tried starting Desktop Window manager (as pointed out by the trouble shooter), but with avail. From what I could understand from the forums, the lack of Aero and increased start-up time comes from a single problem of the System Event Notification Service. This is a personal Computer and I have no active directories installed.

    Hello i have a nameserver with a primary domain configured. Now i added a second domain, I have set NS records of the second domain to use the first domain, but i get some strange error. When i do the nameserver check at SIDN, for domains in the netherlands, i sais everything is right configured: Errors=0, Warnings=0, Informational=3 ** Summary: ACCEPTED centshopper.nl. ** Full check report: primary name server "ns1.rdshosting.nl." Info: name server looks correctly configured. secondary name server "ns2.rdshosting.nl." Info: name server looks correctly configured. secondary name server "ns3.rdshosting.nl." Info: name server looks correctly configured. ** DNScheck 4.2.6, 2010/03/12 23:19:58 CET+0100 Now when i check my dns settings over at http://intodns.com/centshopper.nl i get the following 2 errors: 1) Missing nameservers reported by parent FAIL: The following nameservers are listed at your nameservers as nameservers for your domain, but are not listed at the parent nameservers (see RFC2181 5.4.1). You need to make sure that these nameservers are working.If they are not working ok, you may have problems! ns3.rdshosting.nl 2) Stealth NS records sent Stealth NS records were sent: ns3.rdshosting.nl I am running plesk icw centos. In my opinion everything is ok. Does anyone know of this error and know what the possible cause would be. I have checked the first few hits on google already, and can't come up with a working solution. On a sidenote, can anyone explain to me what GLUE is and why i am not getting any.   • Windows 7 Sysprep Default User

    I seem to be having a problem with implementing my sysprep. I have been playing with Windows 7, WAIK, Server 2008 R2 and various other things. I managed to create a WIM with everything I need installed and I have worked out the autounattend.xml. I now have a Windows 7 64-bit complete unattended install from a USB device. It has all my programs, setting and everything done except one thing - the default profile set up 100% correctly. I have created a mostly set up default profile. I booted into audit mode, customized the Administrator account (mostly anyway) and then used sysprep with an unattend.xml file containing the copyprofile=true command. The file was set up with the WSIM and does not contain any extra info. This all works wonderfully. I recreated the WIM and all was good. I then decided to move the default location of the visible stuff in the user profile (Documents, Music, Pictures etc.) without changing the location of Appdata or other hidden folders. This is where things went a little... wrong. I went to the user folder (generally has the User name) with all the other folders in it. I right clicked on My Documents, found the location tab and changed it to M:\Documents. Now if I run sysprep /generalize /oobe /reboot /unattend:unattend.xml it starts the generalise... then spits out a fatal error and goes no further. The setuperr.log contains the following errors: 2011-08-18 23:21:43, Error [0x0f0043] SYSPRP WinMain:The sysprep dialog box returned FALSE 2011-08-18 23:31:57, Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing 'C:\Windows\System32\slc.dll,SLReArmWindows', returned error code -1073425657 2011-08-18 23:31:57, Error [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = -1073425657 2011-08-18 23:31:57, Error [0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep generalize internal providers; hr = 0xc004d307 Does anyone have any ideas how I can redirect My Documents and other items in a user file to a second drive in the default profile so it affects each person logging in?

  • "Unable to open MRTG log file" error with nagios and mrtg

    We have a strange issue with our setup of icinga / nagios and mrtg. Icinga is working great and has no problem, it can monitor basically everything without issues. We setup mrtg to gather bandwith data from our routers and switches. MRTG is working fine: it stores the log data in the /var/www/mrtg/ directory and displays the graph data via web. We assume so MRTG is doing great. We tried to setup bandwidth checks in nagios: define service{ use generic-service ; Inherit values from a template host_name zywall-agora service_description ZYWALL AGORA TRAFFICO check_command check_local_mrtgtraf!/var/www/mrtg/x.x.x.x_2.log!AVG!1000000,2000000!5000000,5000000!1000 check_interval 1 ; Check the service every 1 minute under normal conditions retry_interval 1 ; Re-check every minute until its final/hard state is determined } Where /var/www/mrtg/x.x.x.x_2.log is the correct log path file. We keep on getting Unable to open MRTG log file error in the test result in icinga web interface. We tried everything: give ownership to user nagios or icinga to the log file give chmod 777 to the file try to copy the file in another directory and give it full permission Same error. The strange thing is that if we use the command that nagios generate in a bash session the command works like a charm: /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_mrtgtraf -F /var/www/mrtg/x.x.x.x_2.log -a AVG -w 10,20 -c 5000000,5000000 -e 10 Result: Traffic WARNING - Avg. In = 17.9 KB/s, Avg. Out = 5.0 KB/s|in=17.877930KB/s;10.000000;5000000.000000;0.000000 out=5.000000KB/s;20.000000;5000000.000000;0.000000 We ran that command line as root, as user nagios and as user icinga and all three worked ok. We thought that the command that nagios perform maybe has something wrong in it, so we debugged nagios but we found out that the generated command from nagios is the same as above. Searching on google for these kind of problem returns only issues of systems where mrtg is not installed or issues with the wrong path to the log file, but these seems not to be our case. We are stuck, can somebody help?

  • Memcached session manager in Azure: Connection gets forcibly closed

    I am using Memcached Session Manager to handle Tomcat sessions in non-sticky mode. My deployment in Azure consists of a Worker Role with two instances which connect to an Azure VM running my Memcached server. Everything works pretty well, my session is persisted and retrieved by any of the two instances transparently. The problem arises when the session is idle for about 4 minutes; everything points out that the Azure Loadbalancer is closing the spymemcached connection to the VM after some period of inactivity.   • What is causing random hard freezes on my system? Kaspersky?

    The last few weeks I experienced a new strange behavior of my computer. Sometimes Windows 7 just freezes with no real reason at all. While listening to music for example the playback hangs and you can hear a very nasty sound. Neither mouse nor keyboard input is handled and everything is just stuck. Using Ubuntu this does not happen, so I think it is just a matter of driver issues or a Windows 7 bug. Furthermore I am really suspicious about Kaspersky (Internet Security 11) and so I let it perform a complete virus scan while no other app is running. At about 50% it happened again and I needed to restart the computer by holding the power button the bad way... A really weird thing is that playing Skyrim this happened once, however music playback did not stop. Only the framerate dropped to 0 and sometimes for a few seconds I am able to move. Therefore I am really confused as furthermore no bluescreen pops up. Memtest told me that everything seems to be alright... Can anyone explain me which data you need about my hardware and software (and which tools tools to use to gather the informatik) to be able to provide any help on my problem?
