My Red5 is in /opt/red5/ and to start it manually I always do /opt/red5/dist/red5.sh from Ubuntu As I did not find rc.d/functions on Ubuntu on my laptop also /etc/init.d/functions I did not existed. I would like to be able to use them with service as Red hat distributions do. I checked /lib/lsb/init-functions.

• Monit - script not being executed as expected

  I'm working on a Windows 7 machine, having a VM for Ubuntu (image disk: 12.04-desktop-i386.iso). On the VM I installed Monit 5.3.2, and configured some processes and applications. So I created a script to run my application. This application should display some content on the screen (Im basically displaying two images, using Feh). The thing is: if I call my script through the command line, it runs ok, and display the images. But if I run through monit, it seems to be running ok, but it doesn't display the images.In the case I try to debug it (remote debug), then I can see the images. So I was supposing this could be some kind of configuration, but didn't find out what (even using the option -I wou'ldn't work).   Hi all, I've got a weird problem, (like always :p ) Okay: Situation: Windows 2003 domain with XP clients. With a GPO I'm running a VBS script on login to map a few drives. This works great on XP, but not on Vista. If I manually run the script after the user has logged on, it works. So I know the script works on Vista, it just doesn't run via the GPO. The user has admin privileges. I also have the same problem on Windows 7 RC1. So it must be related.   Hi, I have setup a kannel SMS gateway on my FreeBSD 7.2 - the service works great. I'm now trying to setup a email2sms feature. For this i have created a system user called kannel and all mails are forwarded to this user. In the home dir of kannel i have the following files. -rw-r--r-- 1 kannel kannel 81B 17 jan 09:50 .procmailrc lrwxr-x--- 1 root kannel 58B 14 jan 13:24 email2sms.php @ -> some-what-some-where -rw-rw-rw- 1 root kannel 5,8K 17 jan 09:52 log.email2sms -rw------- 1 kannel kannel 1,3K 17 jan 09:50 procmail.log -rw-r----- 1 root kannel 606B 14 jan 13:28 rawmail.txt The file email2sms.php is a symlink to the a php script (ZendFramework Application) that takes the email from STDIN, and uses ZendFramework to parse that mail into an object. It then do a http request to the SMS gateway. The php-script works.   Similar to this post, I'd like to change my proxy settings using a script. However, it fails. When I am behind the proxy, IE does not connect to the internet.   whenever I want to install a new vim script to the linux server I'm working in , my typical workflow is as the following: surf the plugin's homepage in vim online using fireXXXX download a right version of the plugin to my laptop by click some highlighted link upload the downloaded plugin from my laptop to linux server using winscp which is really inconvenient. I don't know what is the magic behind this : I mean for the same hyperlinki click it in web browser I can let you download it but use wget plus the hyperlink in linux commandline will end up with nothing but error indication. hyperlink in web browser . otherwise I can get the link in web browser and then use wget or some similar tool to actually do the downloding. I try new cool vim scripts quite often , so you can imagin my dismay when have to repeat the tedious action all the time. So if anyone of you knows some tips which can let me downloading the vim scripts in a more "professional" way, I'll appreciate it a lot. post edit : My problem is not find a tool like wget or curl . The problem I met is quite specific to use these tools to download vim script. let's take http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=30 as an example, it's the normal place where one can get the script, at least for me. but I can't find an working url from this page that can feed to wget .

• Bash Parallelization of CPU-intensive processes

  tee forwards its stdin to every single file specified, while pee does the same, but for pipes. These programs send every single line of their stdin to each and every file/pipe specified. However, I was looking for a way to "load balance" the stdin to different pipes, so one line is sent to the first pipe, another line to the second, etc. It would also be nice if the stdout of the pipes are collected into one stream as well. The use case is simple parallelization of CPU intensive processes that work on a line-by-line basis. I was doing a sed on a 14GB file, and it could have run much faster if I could use multiple sed processes. The command was like this: pv infile | sed 's/something//' > outfile To parallelize, the best would be if GNU parallel would support this functionality like so (made up the --demux-stdin option): pv infile | parallel -u -j4 --demux-stdin "sed 's/something//'" > outfile However, there's no option like this and parallel always uses its stdin as arguments for the command it invokes, like xargs. So I tried this, but it's hopelessly slow, and it's clear why: pv infile | parallel -u -j4 "echo {} | sed 's/something//'" > outfile I just wanted to know if there's any other way to do this (short of coding it up myself). If there was a "load-balancing" tee (let's call it lee), I could do this: pv infile | lee >(sed 's/something//' >> outfile) >(sed 's/something//' >> outfile) >(sed 's/something//' >> outfile) >(sed 's/something//' >> outfile) Not pretty, so I'd definitely prefer something like the made up parallel version, but this would work too.

• WS2008 subst in Logon script does not "stick"

  I have a terminal server environment exclusively with Windows Server 2008. My problem is that I need to "map" a drive letter to each users Temp folder. This is due to a legacy app that requries a separate Temp folder for each user but which does not understand %temp%. So, just add "subst t: %temp%" to the logon script, right? The problem is that, even though the command runs, the subst doesn't "stick" and the user doesn't get a T: drive. Here is what I have tried; The simplest version: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WinShell.Run "subst T: %temp%", 2, True That didn't work, so tried this for more debug information: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set procEnv = WinShell.Environment("Process") wscript.echo(procEnv("TEMP")) tempDir = procEnv("TEMP") WinShell.Run "subst T: " & tempDir, 3, True This shows me the correct temp path when the user logs in - but still no T: Drive. Decided to resort to brute force and put this in my login script: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WinShell.Run "\\domain\sysvol\esl.hosted\scripts\tempdir.cmd", 3, True where \domain\sysvol\esl.hosted\scripts\tempdir.cmd has this content: echo on subst t: %temp% pause When I log in with the above then the command window opens up and I can see the subst command being executed correctly, with the correct path. But still no T: drive. I have tried running all of the above scripts outside of a login script and they always work perfectly - this problem only occurs when doing it from inside a login script. I found a passing reference on an MSFN forum about a similar problem when the user is already logged on to another machine - but I have this problem even without being logged on to another machine. Any suggestion on how to overcome this will be much appreciated.

  I have a server running a Virtual Desktop Managed Pool, what I would like to do is when a user logs in I would like a script to check the number of available VMs and if below a threashold add additional VMs to the pool. I don't think it would be appropriate to run this as a logon script inside the VM, I think there is a way to do this on the management side but I don't know the new scripting interface in Server 2012 R2 well enough to know which commandlets I should look for to schedule this. EDIT: I know System Center is perfect for this but I do not have a license and was denied when I asked for it to be added to the budget.

  I have set up my server to allow key/pair authentication by following instructions similar to what is found in this post. As far as I can tell that is working correctly. If I do the following, for example, it works correctly: ssh [email protected] It will NOT prompt me for a password. This is what I want to happen. However if I write a small bash script like this: #!/bin/bash -x ssh [email protected] and execute with: sudo ./mytestscript.sh ...it will prompt me with: [email protected]'s password: What am I doing wrong? I need to be able to login from within my script without being prompted for a password!

• Sever 2008 R2 Powershell Script runs manually, but not as a scheduled task

  I have a Powershell script that runs manually using the Powershell ISE; However, when run as a scheduled task using an administrator's credentials the task does not run with the expected results. The script: $request=new-object System.Net.WebClient $request.DownloadFile("...url...", "C:\path\to\file.csv") The administrator user has Full Control of both the script and the folder it is writing to. The url exists and responds in a reasonable time (<1s). If I run the task manually the status is 0x41301 ("Currently Running") until I eventually end it. I have set the task up using both of these methods: Start a Program: C:\path\to\PS.PS1 Start a Program: C:\windows\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe with additional options -noninteractive -command "C:\path\to\PS.PS1" Using option 1, the task history shows it has opened an instance of notepad.exe but never terminates it. Using option 2 it completes the task but doesn't download / create the file. I have used Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted as this is not a signed script. Any ideas?

  Is there a way to auto-rename an existing file on the receiver? For example: if filename already exists, it auto-rename filename to something like filename_001, filename_002 and so on.... So far all I have is this: $ rsync -rh --progress --stats --exclude '.thumb' \ --update --perms /origin /destination By the way, I know rsync has --ignore-existing to "skip updating files that exist on receiver", but I guess what I need would be something like --rename-existing.

  In iTerm2 (Build 1.0.0.20120203), I typically open several tabs, each of which has split panes , and is about one particular theme of work, for example revision control, coding, managing files, mysql terminal work. I typically need to switch between 5 or more tabs in my work flow. It is sometimes hard to remember or tell which is which by looking at the content of the screen. I'd like to name the tabs somehow, so I can quickly tell which is which by quickly glancing. Is this possible?

• Plesk command working in manual script, not in cronjob

  Hi, In order to install a hosting plan, I use Plesk's commands in SSH as specified in their official guide. When typed directly in SSH (Putty), it works perfectly. The line is as follows with obviously values hard coded when in CLI: /usr/local/psa/bin/domain --create '.$url.' -owner mynamehere -ip '.IP_SERVER_PLESK.' -status enabled -hosting true -hst_type phys -login '.$ftp_user.' -passwd '.$ftp_pw.' -www false -php true -php_safe_mode false -hard_quota 100M I then put that request in a php script that does other things after hosting is installed. Now for the weird part: when calling that script from CLI it also works fine, I do a ./myscript.php and it installs the hosting, then sends emails etc. However after I create a cronjob to have that same script called regularly, then the Plesk command fails. The cronjob is started in Plesk as */15 * * * * /usr/bin/php /home/scripts/myscript.php and it works fine for everything BUT the Plesk hosting install, that returns "Unable to read Control Panel configuration file" and therefore does not install the domain hosting. Still this is the same script that I call manually ! On that server are the PHP used to call a cronjob and the one used in CLI different ? What do I miss, help greatly appreciated ! Regards.

• Script apparently changing file permissions on Mac OS to 000

  I wrote a little shellscript that helps installing a web application. The script itself just downloads a zip archive, extracts it and changes the permissions of the extracted files to the one needed to run the webapp. The problem now is that some users reported that after running my script, all the permissions of every file in their home directory or even on their whole computer changed to 000 (except the actual unzipped files which do have the correct permissions). The only lines in my script actually doing IO are these: URL="http://foo.com/" FILENAME="some.zip" curl --silent "$URL$FILENAME" -o $FILENAME > /dev/null echo "Unzipping...\c" if unzip -oqq $FILENAME > /dev/null then chmod -R 777 app/tmp app/webroot app/Config/database* app/configuration* chown -R www:www * rm $FILENAME echo "\t\t\tOK" exit 0 else echo "\t\t\tERROR" exit 1 fi I seriously can't explain this to myself. How can this even be possible? It is entirely possible that the users accidentally ran the script in their home directory, but that still wouldn't explain why the permissions where set to 000, not www/777.

  I can't seem to get the ASP.NET engine to handle ALL wildcard mapping. When I try to make a request that is supposed to be handled by the asp.net engine, i get a 404 error from the StaticFile handler Here is the content of my web.config file.   I have a script that somebody from SO kindly provided to solve an issue I was having, However, I'm having some issues getting it to work on OSX. gawk --version GNU Awk 3.1.6 awk --version awk version 20100208 The original source is: awk -F, -vOFS=, -vc=1 ' NR == 1 { for (i=1; i<NF; i++) { if ($i != "") { g[c]=i; f[c++]=$i } } } NR>2 { for (i=1; i < c; i++) { print $1,$2, $g[i] > "output_"f[i]".csv } }' data.csv When I run the script it gives the following error: awk: syntax error at source line 12 context is print $1,$2, $g[i] > >>> "output_"f <<< [i]".csv awk: illegal statement at source line 13 From the look of it the variable of [i] isn't been amended to the output file, but I don't know why. If I change AWK to GAWK and run the original script here is the output: gawk: cmd. line:11: print $1,$2, $g[i] > "output_"f[i]".csv gawk: cmd. line:11: ^ unterminated string So I edit the relevant line to fix the unterminated string print $1,$2, $g[i] > "output_"f[i]".csv" Then it runs through fine produces no errors, but there is no output files. Any ideas? I spent the majority of last night and this morning pouring over this. • Conflict between two Javascripts (MailChimp validation etc. scripts & jQuery hSlides.js)

  I have two scripts running on the same page, one is the jQuery.hSlides.js script http://www.jesuscarrera.info/demos/hslides/ and the other is a custom script that is used for MailChimp list signup integration. The hSlides panel can be seen in effect here: http://theatricalbellydance.com. I've turned off the MailChimp script because it was conflicting with the hSlides script, causing it not to to fail completely (as seen here http://theatricalbellydance.com/home2/). Can someone tell me what could be done to the hSlides script to stop the conflict with the MailChimp script? • echo POST array.. or other ideas?

  Update: As seen in the Original Questions below, I am looking to echo an array. The problem is that when I send the Moneris gateway to return a POST array to my new file (cart.php) it gets a 500 Internal Server Error. This is the same error I received when it send to the script, which should have worked. Is there any reason that it would always send a 500 Internal Server Error? Here is my dilemma: I have a script (ImageFolio Commerce) that hasn't been updated on our server since.. probably 2003. The script had a Payment Gateway (Moneris) manually added to it by the company who offers the script. This costs $1000 to get them to add a gateway. I now have a new client who purchased this business from the previous owner. While switching the account to the new owner's Moneris account, we found out that things have been updated. Long story short.. The Moneris gateway can send 3 types of responses: POST with XML Data POST GET I imagine it is easiest to just use the POST array. I have the file that it sends the response to. As of now the file responds with a Internal Server error, but it does process the order. What I want to do is determine what the POST array is that is being sent, so that I can take it and echo it in a logical manner. Is there a way to capture and echo the entire POST? Or can someone suggest a better method of doing this? Thank you, Craig
