  • MANIFEST.MF issue

    - by dhananjay
    hi I have created a jar inside this folder: '/usr/local/bin/niidle.jar' in eclipse. And I have another jar inside /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar. In my niidle.jar file,there is one 'lib' folder and in that 'lib' folder,there is another jar file 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar'. I have added this 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar' file in MANIFEST.MF as follows: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Main-Class: com.ensarm.niidle.web.scraper.NiidleScrapeManager Class-Path: hector-0.6.0-17.jar But when I run this using command: >>java -jar /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar arguments... It is not working.. It is showing error message:- Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: me/prettyprint/hector/api/Serializer at com.ensarm.niidle.web.scraper.NiidleScrapeManager.main(NiidleScrapeManager.java:21) Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: me.prettyprint.hector.api.Serializer at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:252) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:320) ... 1 more What is the problem,Please tell me solution for this Exception...

  • Why two subprocesses created by Java behave differently?

    - by Lily
    I use Java Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command) to create a subprocess and print its pid as follows: public static void main(String[] args) { Process p2; try { p2 = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd); Field f2 = p2.getClass().getDeclaredField("pid"); f2.setAccessible(true); System.out.println( f2.get( p2 ) ); } catch (Exception ie) { System.out.println("Yikes, you are not supposed to be here"); } } I tried both C++ executable and Java executable (.jar file). Both executables will continuously print out "Hello World" to stdout. When cmd is the C++ executable, the pid is printed out to console but the subprocess gets killed as soon as main() returns. However, when I call the .jar executable in cmd, the subprocess does not get killed, which is the desired behavior. I don't understand why same Java code, with different executables can behave so differently. How should I modify my code so that I could have persistent subprocesses in Java. Newbie in this field. Any suggestion is welcomed. Lily

  • How to write Java-like enums in C++ ?

    - by Rahul G
    Coming from Java background, I find C++'s enums very lame. I wanted to know how to write Java-like enums (the ones in which the enum values are objects, and can have attributes and methods) in C++. As an example, translate the following Java code (a part of it, sufficient to demonstrate the technique) to C++ : public enum Planet { MERCURY (3.303e+23, 2.4397e6), VENUS (4.869e+24, 6.0518e6), EARTH (5.976e+24, 6.37814e6), MARS (6.421e+23, 3.3972e6), JUPITER (1.9e+27, 7.1492e7), SATURN (5.688e+26, 6.0268e7), URANUS (8.686e+25, 2.5559e7), NEPTUNE (1.024e+26, 2.4746e7); private final double mass; // in kilograms private final double radius; // in meters Planet(double mass, double radius) { this.mass = mass; this.radius = radius; } private double mass() { return mass; } private double radius() { return radius; } // universal gravitational constant (m3 kg-1 s-2) public static final double G = 6.67300E-11; double surfaceGravity() { return G * mass / (radius * radius); } double surfaceWeight(double otherMass) { return otherMass * surfaceGravity(); } public static void main(String[] args) { if (args.length != 1) { System.err.println("Usage: java Planet <earth_weight>"); System.exit(-1); } double earthWeight = Double.parseDouble(args[0]); double mass = earthWeight/EARTH.surfaceGravity(); for (Planet p : Planet.values()) System.out.printf("Your weight on %s is %f%n", p, p.surfaceWeight(mass)); } } Any hep would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • DailyRollingFileHandler ---- Files should be rotated on a daily basis

    - by nag
    We have a requirment which requires to have an Handler that is extended from Java logging and allows to have the files rotated on daily basis. Currently Java util logging do have the support of rotation based on file size by using File Handler. It doesnt support rotation on daily basis. http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6350749 Mentioned handler seems is not promising .http://www.x4juli.org/api/org/x4juli/handlers/RollingFileHandler.html So , what we are looking is for such an appender that allows daily rotation . We would like to write such handler and which is the appropriate handler to extend for ... StreamHandler or FileHandler ? And other questions are , is there way we can configure 2 different files for a single handler say FileHandler say for eg , we would like some kind of messages need to be captured in one file and other messages in other file. Would appreciate for any comments.

  • Java: extending Object class

    - by Fabio F.
    Hello, I'm writing (well, completing) an "extension" of Java which will help role programming. I translate my code to Java code with javacc. My compilers add to every declared class some code. Here's an example to be clearer: MyClass extends String implements ObjectWithRoles { //implements... is added /*Added by me */ public setRole(...){...} public ... /*Ends of stuff added*/ ...//myClass stuff } It adds Implements.. and the necessary methods to EVERY SINGLE CLASS you declare. Quite rough, isnt'it? It will be better if I write my methods in one class and all class extends that.. but.. if class already extends another class (just like the example)? I don't want to create a sort of wrapper that manage roles because i don't want that the programmer has to know much more than Java, few new reserved words and their use. My idea was to extends java.lang.Object.. but you can't. (right?) Other ideas? I'm new here, but I follow this site so thank you for reading and all the answers you give! (I apologize for english, I'm italian)

  • Carriage Return\Line feed in Java

    - by Manu
    Guys, i have created text file in unix enviroment using java code. For writing the text file i am using java.io.FileWriter and BufferedWriter. and for newline after each row i am using bw.newLine() method. (where bw is object of BufferedWriter ) and sending that text file by attaching in mail from unix environment itself (automated that using unix commands). My issue is, after i download the text file from mail in windows system, if i opened that text file the data's are not properly aligned. newline() character is not working i think so. I want same text file alignment as it is in unix environment, if i opened the text file in windows environment also. How to resolve the problem.Please help ASAP. Thanks for your help in advance. pasting my java code here for your reference..(running java code in unix environment) File f = new File(strFileGenLoc); BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(f, false)); rs = stmt.executeQuery("select * from jpdata"); while ( rs.next() ) { bw.write(rs.getString(1)==null? "":rs.getString(1)); bw.newLine(); }

  • problm with MANIFEST.MF in jar

And my MANIFEST.MF file is as follows: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Main-Class: com.ensarm.niidle.web.scraper.NiidleScrapeManager Class-Path: hector-0.6.0-17.jar And I verified that,this 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar' file is also present in the folder: /Projects/EnwelibDatedOct13/Niidle/lib/hector-0.6.0-17.jar I don't want to give full class-path name in MANIFEST.MF file,because I have to run this jar on other's machine,so I gave only jar file name 'Class-Path=hector-0.6.0-17.jar' in MANIFEST.MF file. Inspite of mentioning the Class-Path in MANIFEST.MF file, when I run this using command: java -jar /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar arguments... • Java Concurrency in practice sample question

    - by andy boot
    I am reading "Java Concurrency in practice" and looking at the example code on page 51. This states that if a thread has references to a shared object then other threads may be able to access that object before the constructor has finished executing. I have tried to put this into practice and so I wrote this code thinking that if I ran it enough times a RuntimeException("World is f*cked") would occur. But it isn't doing. Is this a case of the Java spec not guaranting something but my particular implementation of java guaranteeing it for me? (java version: 1.5.0 on Ubuntu) Or have I misread something in the book? Code: (I expect an exception but it is never thrown) public class Threads { private Widgit w; public static void main(String[] s) throws Exception { while(true){ Threads t = new Threads(); t.runThreads(); } } private void runThreads() throws Exception{ new Checker().start(); w = new Widgit((int)(Math.random() * 100) + 1); } private class Checker extends Thread{ private static final int LOOP_TIMES = 1000; public void run() { int count = 0; for(int i = 0; i < LOOP_TIMES; i++){ try { w.checkMe(); count++; } catch(NullPointerException npe){ //ignore } } System.out.println("checked: "+count+" times out of "+LOOP_TIMES); } } private static class Widgit{ private int n; private int n2; Widgit(int n) throws InterruptedException{ this.n = n; Thread.sleep(2); this.n2 = n; } void checkMe(){ if (n != n2) { throw new RuntimeException("World is f*cked"); } } } }

  • JAVA MySql multiple word search

    - by user1703849
    i have a database in MySql that has a name column in it which contains several words(description). I am connected to database with java through eclipse. I have a search, that returns results if only name field contains one word. id: name: info: type: 1 balloon big red balloon big 2 house expensive beautiful luxury 3 chicken wings deep fried wings tasty these are just random words but as an example my search can only see ex. balloon and then show info, but if i type chicken wings, it does nothing. so it possible somehow to search from columns with multiple words? this is my search code below import java.io.*; import java.sql.*; import java.util.*; class Search { public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner inp``ut = new Scanner(System.in); try { Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:mysql://example/mydb", "user", "password"); Statement stmt = (Statement) con.createStatement(); System.out.print("enter search: "); String name = input.next(); String SQL = "SELECT * FROM menu where name LIKE '" + name + "'"; ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(SQL); while (rs.next()) { System.out.println("Name: " +rs.getString("name")); System.out.println("Description: " + rs.getString("info") ); System.out.println("Price: " + rs.getString("Price")); } } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println("ERROR: " + e.getMessage()); } } }

  • Should I invest time in learning Java language these days? (question from a greenhorn)

    - by dave-keiture
    Hi experts, Assuming you've already had a chance to look through the lambda syntax proposed for Java7 (and the other things that have happened with Java, after Oracle has bought Sun + obvious problems in Java Community Process), what do you think is the future of Java language? Should I, as a Java greenhorn, invest time in learning Java language (not talking about the core JVM, which definitely will survive anything, and worth investments), or concentrate on Scala, Groovy, or other hybrid languages on the JVM platform (I've came into Java world from PHP/Ruby). Thanks in advance.

  • Java Newbie can't do simple Math, operator error

    Trying to do some really basic math here, but my lack of understanding of Java is causing some problems for me. double[][] handProbability = new double[][] {{0,0,0},{0,0,0},{0,0,0}}; double[] handProbabilityTotal = new double[] {0,0,0}; double positivePot = 0; double negativePot = 0; int localAhead = 0; int localTied = 1; int localBehind = 2; //do some stuff that adds values to handProbability and handProbabilityTotal positivePot = (handProbability[localBehind][localAhead] + (handProbability[localBehind][localTied] / 2.0) + (handProbability[localTied][localAhead] / 2.0) ) / (handProbabilityTotal[localBehind] + (handProbability[localTied] / 2.0)); negativePot = (handProbability[localAhead][localBehind] + (handProbability[localAhead][localTied] / 2.0) + (handProbability[localTied][localBehind] / 2.0) ) / (handProbabilityTotal[localAhead] + (handProbabilityTotal[localTied] / 2.0)); The last two lines are giving me problems (sorry for their lengthiness). Compiler Errors: src/MyPokerClient/MyPokerClient.java:180: operator / cannot be applied to double[],double positivePot = ( handProbability[localBehind][localAhead] + (handProbability[localBehind][localTied] / 2.0) + (handProbability[localTied][localAhead] / 2.0) ) / (handProbabilityTotal[localBehind] + (handProbability[localTied] / 2.0) ); ^ src/MyPokerClient/MyPokerClient.java:180: operator + cannot be applied to double, positivePot = ( handProbability[localBehind][localAhead] + (handProbability[localBehind][localTied] / 2.0) + (handProbability[localTied][localAhead] / 2.0) ) / (handProbabilityTotal[localBehind] + (handProbability[localTied] / 2.0) ); ^ src/MyPokerClient/MyPokerClient.java:180: operator / cannot be applied to double, positivePot = ( handProbability[localBehind][localAhead] + (handProbability[localBehind][localTied] / 2.0) + (handProbability[localTied][localAhead] / 2.0) ) / (handProbabilityTotal[localBehind] + (handProbability[localTied] / 2.0) ); Not really sure what the problem is. You shouldn't need anything special for basic math, right?

  • Compiling GWT 2.6.1 at Java 7 source level

    - by Neeko
    I've recently updated my GWT project to 2.6.1, and started to make use of Java 7 syntax since 2.6 now supports Java 7. However, when I attempt to compile, I'm receiving compiler errors such as [ERROR] Line 42: '<>' operator is not allowed for source level below 1.7 How do I specify the GWT compiler to target 1.7? I was under the impression that it would do that by default, but I guess not. I've attempted cleaning the project, including deleting the gwt-unitCache directory but to no avail. Here is my Ant compile target. <target name="compile" depends="prepare"> <javac includeantruntime="false" debug="on" debuglevel="lines,vars,source" srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${build.dir}"> <classpath refid="project.classpath"/> </javac> </target> <target name="gwt-compile" depends="compile"> <java failonerror="true" fork="true" classname="com.google.gwt.dev.Compiler"> <classpath> <!-- src dir is added to ensure the module.xml file(s) are on the classpath --> <pathelement location="${src.dir}"/> <pathelement location="${build.dir}"/> <path refid="project.classpath"/> </classpath> <jvmarg value="-Xmx256M"/> <arg value="${gwt.module.name}"/> </java> </target>

  • Comparison of Java and .NET technologies/frameworks

    - by Paul Sasik
    I work in a shop that is a mix of mostly Java and .NET technologists. When discussing new solutions and architectures we often encounter impedance in trying to compare the various technologies, frameworks, APIs etc. in use between the two camps. It seems that each camp knows little about the other and we end up comparing apples to oranges and forgetting about the bushels. While researching the topic I found this: Java -- .Net rough equivalents It's a nice list but it's not quite exhaustive and is missing the key .NET 3.0 technologies and a few other tidbits. To complete that list: what are the near/rough equivalents (or a combination of technologies) in Java to the following in .NET? WCF WPF Silverlight = JavaFx WF = jBMP (Java Business Process Management) Generics Lambda expressions = lambdaJ project or Closures Linq (not Linq-to-SQL) ...have i missed anything else? Note that I omitted technologies that are already covered in the linked article. I would also like to hear feedback on whether the linked article is accurate. Thanks. (Will CW if requested.)

  • How do I tell whether my IE is 64-bit? (For that matter, Java too?)

    - by user225626
    Millions of questions already on the web about how to tell whether the OS is 64-bit, but not whether IE and/or Java runtime is 64-bit. Some background: I installed 64-bit Win 7, and IE installed automatically with it from CD; I didn't download IE. I did download Java runtime. Mouseover tips in Control Panel!Programs shows it as: "Java 32-bit Java(TM) Control Panel" Then I went to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and that page says... We have detected you may be viewing this page in a 32-bit browser. If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers. But I cannot tell in the aftermath whether my Java is 64-bit. Evidently the "Java(TM) Control Panel" is, but I don't know if that's the same as the runtime. (I'm afraid to ask on the offical Java forums, because they're such a-holes.) Also, How do I issue a command to the OS to tell whether this IE is 64-bit? Help!About doesn't say on that. Thanks.

  • SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server

    - by dev_darin
    I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? This is what happens the First Time The Method is called using the Web Service(this is suppose to happen): 13011 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.jdbc.JdbcOfficersDAO - Inside jdbcOfficersDAO 13031 [http-8084-2] DEBUG org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate - Executing prepared SQL query 13034 [http-8084-2] DEBUG org.springframework.jdbc.core.JdbcTemplate - Executing prepared SQL statement [SELECT userName FROM crimetrack.tblofficers WHERE userName = ?] 13071 [http-8084-2] DEBUG org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DataSourceUtils - Fetching JDBC Connection from DataSource 13496 [http-8084-2] DEBUG org.springframework.jdbc.core.StatementCreatorUtils - Setting SQL statement parameter value: column index 1, parameter value [adminz], value class [java.lang.String], SQL type unknown 13534 [http-8084-2] DEBUG org.springframework.jdbc.datasource.DataSourceUtils - Returning JDBC Connection to DataSource 13537 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.jdbc.JdbcOfficersDAO - No username was found in exception 13537 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.service.ValidateUserNameManager - UserName :adminz does NOT exist The Second time When The Form Is 'Post' and a validation method handles the form and calls the same method the web service would call: 17199 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.service.OfficerRegistrationValidation - UserName is not null so going to check if its valid for :adminz 17199 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.service.OfficerRegistrationValidation - User Name in try.....catch block is adminz 17199 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.service.ValidateUserNameManager - Inside Do UserNameExist about to validate with username : adminz 17199 [http-8084-2] INFO com.crimetrack.service.ValidateUserNameManager - UserName :adminz EXCEPTION OCCURED java.lang.NullPointerException

  • How should I organize my Java GUI?

    - by Spencer
    I'm creating a game in Java for fun and I'm trying to decide how to organize my classes for the GUI. So far, all the classes with only the swing components and layout (no logic) are in a package called "ui". I now need to add listeners (i.e. ActionListener) to components (i.e. button). The listeners need to communicate with the Game class. Currently I have: Game.java - creates the frame add panels to it import javax.swing.; import ui.; public class Game { private JFrame frame; Main main; Rules rules; Game() { rules = new Rules(); frame = new JFrame(); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); main = new Main(); frame.setContentPane(main.getContentPane()); show(); } void show() { frame.pack(); frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null); frame.setVisible(true); } public static void main(String[] args) { new Game(); } } Rules.java - game logic ui package - all classes create new panels to be swapped out with the main frame's content pane Main.java (Main Menu) - creates a panel with components Where do I now place the functionality for the Main class? In the game class? Separate class? Or is the whole organization wrong? Thanks

  • .NET port with Java's Map, Set, HashMap

    - by Nikos Baxevanis
    I am porting Java code in .NET and I am stuck in the following lines that (behave unexpectedly in .NET). Java: Map<Set<State>, Set<State>> sets = new HashMap<Set<State>, Set<State>>(); Set<State> p = new HashSet<State>(); if (!sets.containsKey(p)) { ... } The equivalent .NET code could possibly be: IDictionary<HashSet<State>, HashSet<State>> sets = new Dictionary<HashSet<State>, HashSet<State>>(); HashSet<State> p = new HashSet<State>(); if (!sets.containsKey(p)) { /* (Add to a list). Always get here in .NET (??) */ } However the code comparison fails, the program think that "sets" never contain Key "p" and eventually results in OutOfMemoryException. Perhaps I am missing something, object equality and identity might be different between Java and .NET. I tried implementing IComparable and IEquatable in class State but the results were the same. Edit: What the code does is: If the sets does not contain key "p" (which is a HashSet) it is going to add "p" at the end of a LinkedList. The State class (Java) is a simple class defined as: public class State implements Comparable<State> { boolean accept; Set<Transition> transitions; int number; int id; static int next_id; public State() { resetTransitions(); id = next_id++; } // ... public int compareTo(State s) { return s.id - id; } public boolean equals(Object obj) { return super.equals(obj); } public int hashCode() { return super.hashCode(); }

My code looks like this: package filesexample; import java.io.*; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.ArrayList; /** * * @author */ public class FilesExample { /** * @param args the command line arguments */ public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { File file = new File ("/Schedule.txt"); try { Scanner scanner= new Scanner(file);; while (scanner.hasNextLine()) { String line = scanner.nextLine(); Scanner lineScanner= new Scanner(line); lineScanner.useDelimiter(";"); while(lineScanner.hasNext()){ String part = lineScanner.next(); System.out.print(part + " "); } System.out.println(); } }catch (FileNotFoundException e){ e.printStackTrace(); } } } Some help on getting started would be much appreciated thank you!

    I have a file called mybundle.txt in c:/temp - c:/temp/mybundle.txt how do I load this file into a java.util.resource bundle? The file is a valid resource bundle. This does not seem to work: java.net.URL resourceURL = null; String path = "c:/temp/mybundle.txt"; java.io.File fl = new java.io.File(path); try { resourceURL = fl.toURI().toURL(); } catch (MalformedURLException e) { } URLClassLoader urlLoader = new URLClassLoader(new java.net.URL[]{resourceURL}); java.util.ResourceBundle bundle = java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundle( path , java.util.Locale.getDefault(), urlLoader ); What is the best way to do this?
