Reading an Excel file in PHP

I'm trying to read an Excel file (Office 2003). There is an Excel file that needs to be uploaded and its contents parsed. Via Google, I can only find answers to these related (and insufficient topics): generating Excel files, reading Excel XML files, reading Excel CSV files, or incomplete abandoned projects. I own Office 2003 so if I need any files from there, they are available. It's installed on my box but isn't and can't be installed on my shared host. Edit: so far all answers point to PHP-ExcelReader and/or this additional article about how to use it.

Get Excel.Application object from Process or hwnd in .NET

In C# I am trying to get an instance of an Excel.Application object from a Process object. This seems like it should be really simple yet I cannot figure it out and cannot find an example. To repeat, I have a System.Diagnostics.Process object that I know refers to a running Excel instance. I now need to recover a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application object that refers to the process so that I can go about manipulating the Excel application from C#. In case it makes it any simpler, I also have the HWND id and window text associated with the active Excel window. Thanks.

Need to open to two excel files and add numbers from them into a third file using vba.

I have two excel files which has similar formatting and the data map each other from cell b15:h31. Row 15 is heading and so is the column B. I want to read file1 cell by cell and add that cell's content to the corresponding cell in File 2 i.e C16 in file 1 gets added to C16 in file 2, C17 in file 1 to C17 in file 2 and so on. The output goes in file 3 or anything. trying to implement through vba but of no success so far. Does anyone know how to go about it.

Update access table rst with named cell values from excel

I have got a table in access that I loop through using a DAO recordset. For every recordset I take a bunch of data to an excel spreadsheet and run it through a model in excel. This produces a bunch of results in excel which are calculated in named cells. I want to be able to update the current recordset in access with these results but am having a tough time doing it. I have the following code code to create a DAO recordset code to move to first record code to parse data to excel code to run a bunch of stuff in excel including a goal seek to calculate results next I use the follwoing code without success With MyXL strSQL = "UPDATE ProductPricing SET Profit = " & .Names("Profit") & ";" End With Code to move to next record and loop until EOF any help is appreciated thanks

Excel Add-in memory explosion

I wrote a small .NET add in to excel 2007 that read data from external c++ api and display it inside an excel. The task manager shows that I'm having a memory leak (the memory usage is inflate linearly up to 250MB after whitch it throws an "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources error") but the problem disappears as soon as I minimize the excel window. The api uses delegates to return data and I update it into a dictionary. another thread is updating the excel from the dictionary every second. It is unlikely that the unmanaged code is responsible of the leak. Does anybody have an idea what can cause this? 10x!

Hi guys, I'm using an Excel sheet to keep track of a particular time series (my daily weight, if you must know). I created a macro that inserts a row, automatically adds today's date and calculates a moving average based on my input. There is also a chart to visualize my progress. I have tried recording a macro that updates the time series in the graph, but to no success. How can I create a macro or VBA script that, when executed, updates the range of the graph from A(x):Cy to A(x-1):Cy to include today's measurement? Thanks!

Generic allocator class without variadic templates?

I am trying to write a generic allocator class that does not really release an object's memory when it is free()'d but holds it in a queue and returns a previously allocated object if a new one is requested. Now, what I can't wrap my head around is how to pass arguments to the object's constructor when using my allocator (at least without resorting to variadic templates, that is). The alloc() function i came up with looks like this: template <typename... T> inline T *alloc(const &T... args) { T *p; if (_free.empty()) { p = new T(args...); } else { p = _free.front(); _free.pop(); // to call the ctor of T, we need to first call its DTor p->~T(); p = new( p ) T(args...); } return p; } Still, I need the code to be compatible with today's C++ (and older versions of GCC that do not support variadic templates). Is there any other way to go about passing an arbitrary amount of arguments to the objects constructor?

I'm using Haml (Haml/Sass 3.0.9 - Classy Cassidy) stand-alone to generate static HTML. I want to create a shared layout template that all my other templates inherit. Layout.haml %html %head %title Test Template %body .Content Content.haml SOMEHOW INHERIT Layout.haml SOMEHOW Change the title of the page "My Content". %p This is my content To produce: Content.html <html> <head> <title>My Content</title> </head> <body> <div class="Content"> <p>This is my content</p> </div> </body> </html> But this doesn't seem possible. I have seen the use of rendering partials when using Haml with Rails but can't find any solution when using Haml stand-alone. Having to put the layout code in all of my templates would be a maintenance nightmare; so my question is how do I avoid doing this? Is there a standard way to solve this problem? Have I missed something fundamental?

Building static (but complicated) lookup table using templates.

I am currently in the process of optimizing a numerical analysis code. Within the code, there is a 200x150 element lookup table (currently a static std::vector < std::vector < double ) that is constructed at the beginning of every run. The construction of the lookup table is actually quite complex- the values in the lookup table are constructed using an iterative secant method on a complicated set of equations. Currently, for a simulation, the construction of the lookup table is 20% of the run time (run times are on the order of 25 second, lookup table construction takes 5 seconds). While 5-seconds might not seem to be a lot, when running our MC simulations, where we are running 50k+ simulations, it suddenly becomes a big chunk of time. Along with some other ideas, one thing that has been floated- can we construct this lookup table using templates at compile time? The table itself never changes. Hard-coding a large array isn't a maintainable solution (the equations that go into generating the table are constantly being tweaked), but it seems that if the table can be generated at compile time, it would give us the best of both worlds (easily maintainable, no overhead during runtime). So, I propose the following (much simplified) scenario. Lets say you wanted to generate a static array (use whatever container suits you best- 2D c array, vector of vectors, etc..) at compile time. You have a function defined- double f(int row, int col); where the return value is the entry in the table, row is the lookup table row, and col is the lookup table column. Is it possible to generate this static array at compile time using templates, and how?

How to convert a lambda to an std::function using templates

Basically, what I want to be able to do is take a lambda with any number of any type of parameters and convert it to an std::function. I've tried the following and neither method works. std::function([](){});//Complains that std::function is missing template parameters template <typename T> void foo(function<T> f){} foo([](){});//Complains that it cannot find a matching candidate The following code does work however, but it is not what I want because it requires explicitly stating the template parameters which does not work for generic code. std::function<void()>([](){}); I've been mucking around with functions and templates all evening and I just can't figure this out, so any help would be much appreciated. As mentioned in a comment, the reason I'm trying to do this is because I'm trying to implement currying in C++ using variadic templates. Unfortunately, this fails horribly when using lambdas. For example, I can pass a standard function using a function pointer. template <typename R, typename...A> void foo(R (*f)(A...)) {} void bar() {} int main() { foo(bar); } However, I can't figure out how to pass a lambda to such a variadic function. A Model for Planning Your Oracle BPM 10g Migration by Kris Nelson

As the Oracle SOA Suite and BPM Suite 12c products enter beta, many of our clients are starting to discuss migrating from the Oracle 10g or prior platforms. With the BPM Suite 11g, Oracle introduced a major change in architecture with a strong focus on integration with SOA and an entirely new technology stack. In addition, there were fresh new UIs and a renewed business focus with an improved Process Composer and features like Adaptive Case Management. While very beneficial to both technology and the business, the fundamental change in architecture does pose clear migration challenges for clients who have made investments in the 10g platform. Some of the key challenges facing 10g customers include: Managing in-process instance migration and running multiple process engines Migration of User Interfaces and other code within the environment that may not be automated Growing or finding technical staff with both 10g and 12c experience Managing migration projects while continuing to move the business forward and meet day-to-day responsibilities As a former practitioner in a mixed 10g/11g shop, I wrestled with many of these challenges as we tried to plan ahead for the migration. Oracle SOA Suite customer panel: Successful Application Integration & SOA Projects

At the recent SOA Suite customer panel, Roger Brown from UNS Energy, Fabio Ravagni from Cencosud and Paras Jain from Cisco discussed their recent SOA Suite implementations, business drivers and challenges, architecture and lessons learned. Roger started by describing how UNS redesigned their internet portal to improve their customer experience and reduce manual steps in their business processes. Through the use of Oracle Service Bus, Oracle BPEL Process Manager and Oracle Business Activity Monitoring, they provided more self-service functionality, automated their business processes and increased the use of their web site by 12.98% for number of visits and 33.58% for average visit duration. The screenshot below shows the UNS architecture: > Next Fabio described the challenges Cencosud faced through continuous expansion of their business, different standards and levels of expertise and large volumes of information. By introducing Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Enterprise Repository, and with the help of Oracle Consulting, they significantly simplified their integration model, reduced their maintenance effort and increased their integration governance. The picture below shows the implemented solution with so far more than 400 services in production and more than 20 ongoing projects, which will make use of the new integration platform. > Last, but not least, Paras discussed the challenges the Webex division of Cisco faced with a highly manual service fulfillment process, multiple data sources and the resulting large room for errror and delay in customer time-to-service. Through a redesign of their order fulfillment process and the introduction of Oracle SOA Suite (see below), they significantly improved their SLAs, eliminated duplicate orders, provided higher visibility into the order process and aligned business and IT. First Look - Oracle Data Mining

In his blog, JT on EDM, James Taylor shares his analysis of Oracle Data Mining, including its new GUI and Exadata integration. While Oracle Data Mining has been available for a while, it is now easier to access and try via the Amazon Cloud. Using the Oracle 11gR2 Data Mining Amazon Machine Image (AMI), you can launch an Oracle Data Mining-enabled instance directly through Amazon Web Services (AWS) and connect to it using the Oracle Data Miner graphical user interface. The new Oracle Data Mining GUI, which will be available to beta customers soon, provides more graphics, the ability to define, save and share analytical "work flows" to solve business problems, and provides more automation and simplicity. Taylor comments that, "the UI looks to have a nice look and feel including graphical model development flows, easy access to the data, nice little micro graphs when browsing data records and more." On using Oracle Data Mining with Exadata, Taylor writes, "Oracle says that the use of the ODM routines in the Exadata kernel is faster than running a native ODM model in the database by a factor of 2 and that this increases as more joins are used. This could mean that ODM outperforms even third party in-database analytics." Taylor concludes his blog with a positive overall review, stating that "ODM is a nice product for Oracle database customers and well worth looking into. The new UI will only make it more so."
