• CakePHP: shortcomings with indirectly associated models

  I'm having some issues with dealing with indirectly associated models in cakephp. My current model setup is as follows: Deliveries hasOne License License belongsTo Delivery License hasAndBelongsToMany Product (and vice-versa) License hasAndBelongsToMany ProductOption (and vice-versa) I'm trying to save information about ALL of these models inside ONE form. The shortcomings I'm running into are the following: The form helper only seems able to see the field type one level deep. saveAll() only seems able to save records one level deep (for multiple model forms). I'm searching everywhere for the solutions to these issues, but since I'm new to CakePHP, I'm not sure what the newest methods or "correct" methods are for dealing with these issues. I tried searching to know about it in details but almost all searches end up at things like PHPUnit. Could someone please put some light on the theory behind automated tests? • Can't get SubSonic insert to work

  I'm trying to insert a record into a table without using the SubSonic object in a VB.Net Windows app. (It will take too long to explain why.) Dim q As New SubSonic.Query("tablename") q.QueryType = SubSonic.QueryType.Insert q.AddUpdateSetting("Description", txtDescription.Text) q.Execute() This just updates all the rows in the table. I read in one post that instead of AddUpdateSetting, I should use AddWhere, but that didn't make any sense to me. I don't need a where clause at all. Searching for all:QueryType.Insert at subsonicproject.com didn't return anything (which I thought was weird). Can anyone tell me how to fix this query? Thanks!

  I'm searching for a "suck less" WYSIWYG browser HTML editor that generates good HTML code. (no <font>, <foo style="...">, <p></p><span></span><p><span>&nbsp;</span><span><span>blah</span></<span></p> and so on -- <b> and <i> etc is ok). Should be easy-to-use as it is going to be used by people that do not know what HTML is. Any suggestions? (I found a lot of editors but they all create that <font> and nested <span> crap that breaks site design and bloats a site with one table up to 100kB.)

• Replacement relevance sorting for MySQL fulltext in InnoDB tables?

  I am using MySQL InnoDB and want to do fulltext style searches on certain columns. What is the best way of sorting the results in order of relevance? I am trying to do something like: SELECT columns, (LENGTH(column_name) - LENGTH(REPLACE(column_name, '%searchterm%', ''))) AS score FROM table WHERE column_name LIKE '%searchterm%' ORDER BY score However this will become quite complicated once I start searching more than 1 column or using more than one keyword. I already have several joins happening so have simplified the query above. Can anyone suggest a better way? I don't want to use any 3rd party software like Sphinx etc

• How do you use any2mobi command line tool (part of Calibre) to make mobi files from HTML?

  I am on MAC OS X 10.5.5. I installed Calibre, a tool for converting e-book files from one format to another. It has a GUI as well as command line tools. I am trying to run the command line tool "any2mobi" to convert HTML files to MOBI pocket format or Kindle AZW format, with a TOC. I get the error "-bash: any2mobi: command not found". Clearly, any2mobi is not in my path. Where is it? I tried searching but came up empty. I installed version 0.6.0b6 of Calibre.

• Desktop Application Development with Javascript, Python / Ruby

  Hello, Besides using Appcelerator's Titanium Desktop, are there other approaches to integrating Javascript and Ruby/Python into cross-platform desktop applications? Just trying to get a sense of the landscape here. From searching the web, it seems Titanium may be leading the charge in terms of this type of integration. I wasn't able to find references that suggest you can do something similar in Adobe AIR. I am interested in building desktop applications that exploit Protovis and possibly other Javascript interactive vis packages for the UI. At the end of the day, I can go the web app route if need be, but being able to develop desktop apps is helpful. Would appreciate your perspective on this... Chris

  First, I did do my homework searching before posting here. My requirement seems to be slightly different compared to questions posted out there. I have a matrix like ArrayList<ArrayList<Integer>> in the following form | id1 | id2 | score | |-----|-----|-------| | 1 | 3 | 95% | | 1 | 2 | 100% | | 1 | 4 | 85% | | 1 | 5 | 95% | | 2 | 10 | 80% | | 2 | 15 | 99% | I want to sort the matrix column-wise (first using score, then the id1). I already have the id1 in a sorted manner. That means I also need to sort all records with the same id1 first by using score, second by the id2. The reason for doing this is to create a ranking of the id2 in each id1. • The body gets displaced (and part of the content disappears) on ie7

  I have been searching for a way to fix this problem for a while now. It seems something could be wrong on the javascript, or maybe it has something to do with the positioning. This page http://www.medspilates.cl/ works fine on FF, on Chrome, on Safari and on IE8, but on ie7 it doesnt, the body gets displaced to the right and the main content disappears, it's also happening on ie6 (it didnt but now it does). Sorry to post the full page but i can't pin point the exact problem except maybe the function i'm using for positioning $(document).ready(function(){var height = $(window).height(); $('#menu').css('margin-top', $(window).height() - $(window).height() /4) $('#post1').css('margin-left', $(window).width() - $(window).width() /1.125) }) any help would be apreciated since I just cant find the answer.

• Suggestion for dragster/dropzone like dock menu

  I'd like to create a dragster/dropzone like dock menu. Looks a bit like a stack with a nsview in it. After a lot if documentation searching and googling I've found a way to determine a dock icon's location. (http://cocoadev.com/forums/comments.php?DiscussionID=1431) Is nzbdrop creating a view which just looks like an stack to display it's menu or is there a better way of creating this? Additional info: I'm not looking for the drop like functionality just the nice way the DropBox window is displayed as an bubble/stack menu on top of it's app icon.

  I have a table (say "Demographics") on SQL Server. In this table are the following columns "LastName", "FirstName", "MiddleName", "Prefix" , "Suffix". I have one textbox to search for them on a webpage. My question: Whats a good design strategy for queries where the user could be searching for various combinations of names including last names that have spaces e.g. "Smith James Jr." . Our customers store Jr. sometimes in suffix and sometimes just tack it to lastname. Sometimes Smith James Jr could be the entire last name.

I want it to check two fields and if it is a match I want it to print something and if it doesn't then I want it to continue searching. If there is no absolute match then leave the field blank. Maybe it's too late in the evening to figure the answer out, so I turn to the excellent readers here. I want to covert this data from CouchDB into a Python dict so I can do the following in a Django template: {% for location in my_plan.locations %} <tr> <td>{{ location.place }}</td> <td>{{ location.locationDate }}</td> </tr> {% endfor %} I've found lots of info on converting dicts to JSON, but nothing on going back the other way Thanks in advance for the help!

I see all around searching on the web - in articles from 2008 and 2009 - that they were adding Silverlight support in WinMo 6.1, for example: Internet Explorer Mobile The new version of Internet Explorer Mobile adds the ability to easily view full-screen Web pages and multimedia on the Web with a smartphone. Microsoft's press release states the new version takes advantage of "Internet Explorer 6 technologies" and supports industry standards such as H.264, Adobe Flash and Microsoft Silverlight. The update will be available to mobile phone partners in the third quarter of 2008, with the first Windows Mobile phones using the new version expected to be available by the end of 2008. But I have found an SL app supposedly geared for mobile devices (as much as I hate weatherbug), but when i try going there in PIE on my WinMo 6.1 device, it shows me the little "get silverlight" image button, but clicking it doesn't do anything. So, what is the story? Is SL/WinMo development possible, or ?

  Hi, I have a telerik grid which is performing operations like searching,sorting,filtering etc. To make customers happy, we put this control in an ajax panel for seamless experience. Now, we added a new functionality to the grid where the customer can download the entire row information as a csv file. As the response is a file, ajax panel is trying to parse the output and throwing the following exception: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near '?'. • Is it possible to find the KNN for a node that is *IN* the KD-tree?

  Hi there, Trying to create a KNN search using a KD-tree. I can form the KD-tree fine (or at least, I believe I can!). My problem is that I am searching to find the closest 2 neighbours to every point in a list of points. So, is there a method to find the K nearest neighbours to a point using a KD tree even if the point is actually IN the tree, or do I need to construct a seperate KD tree for each point, leaving out the point that I wish to search for? My implementation language is C++, but I am more looking for either an algorithm or general help, thanks! Thanks, Stephen

• Download HTML and Images with WGet without first few lines

  I'm attempting to use wget with the -p option to download specific documents and the images linked in the HTML. The problem is, the site that is hosting the HTML has some non-html information preceding the HTML. This is causing wget to not interpret the document as HTML and doesn't search for images. Is there a way to have wget strip the first X lines and/or force searching for images? • Winforms ComboBox autocomplete search multiple parts of string

  Very similar question to this one... http://stackoverflow.com/questions/522521/autocomplete-for-combobox-in-wpf-anywhere-in-text-not-just-beginning but my issue is for windows-forms rather than WPF. I have a winforms databound combox working great with autocomplete list coming from the data items in the combobox. Of course the client wants it to work "better", and that means that they want the autocomplete to work by searching and showing autocomplete options for any matching (contains()) string not just the starting string (startswith()) I know it's probably not just a property that can be set in the combobox, but can anyone point me in the right direction?
