• ASP.NET MVC Html Helper Extensions and Rendering Their Required "include"s

    - by Jimbo
I have build a custom Html Helper extension as follows: public static string DatePicker(this HtmlHelper helper, string name, string value) { return string.Format(@" ", name, value); } The problem is that this now requires the page to "include" the following: And a few other items. The questions are as follows: Is there a serious processing overhead if I were to include these items in EVERY page (like in the Site.Master for example) thus negating the need for the HtmlHelper to organise the "includes" - considering there would end up being about 20 includes for all the different types of jQuery UI widgets used throughout the site. If the HtmlHelper sorts out the "includes", it will add one every time this DatePicker is used (often there are two on a page) Does anyone have a way of determining whether or not the user has already rendered the same type of control on the page, thus not re-including the same jquery libraries when multiple instances of the DatePicker (for example) are used?

  • Why is IE8 rendering superfish menu wrong?

    - by John Isaacks
I am useing the superfish jquery plugin If you view the superfish menu here: clicky the drop-downs show correctly (above the main content) in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE6, IE7 But for some reason they fall behind the main content in IE8. I already set the z-index for the superfish menu which IE7 wasnt working right until I did so, but it didn't fix IE8. Am I missing something?

  • Facebook Connect login button not rendering

    - by tloflin
I'm trying to implement a Facebook Connect Single Sign-on site. I originally just had a Connect button (<fb:login-button>), which the user had to click every time they wanted to sign in. I now have the auto login and logout features working. That is, my site will detect a logged-in Facebook account and automatically authenticate them if it can find a match to one of my site's user accounts, and automatically deauthenticate if the Facebook session is lost. I also have a manual logout button that will log the user out of both my site and Facebook. All of those are working correctly, but now my original Connect button is intermittently not being rendered correctly. It just shows up as the plain XHTML (ie., it looks like plain text--not a button--and is unclickable), and no XFBML is applied. Here is the basic code: On every page:
{...}   {...}
On the login page: (this page is not visible to logged in users)
{...}    <fb:login-button v="2" onlogin="UserSignedIntoFB();" size="large" autologoutlink="true"><fb:intl>Login With Your Facebook Account</fb:intl></fb:login-button>  {...}
On the logout page: (this page is not visible to logged out users)
{...}    Sign Out {...}
Some things I've already looked at: The automatic login and logout are working great. I can log in and out of Facebook on another tab and my site will notice the session changes and update accordingly. The logout seems to be working fine: when clicked, it deauthenticates the user and logs them out of Facebook, as intended. The issue seems to usually happen after a Facebook user is logged out, but it happens somewhat intermittently; it might happen before they ever login, and it goes away after a few minutes/refreshes. Some cookies are left over after the login/logout process, but deleting them does not fix the issue. Restarting the browser does not fix the issue. The user is definitely logged out of Facebook and my site when the problem occurs. I've checked for Facebook sessions and site authentication. All external script calls are being served up correctly. I have a suspicion that there's something else I need to be doing upon logout (like clearing session or cookies), but according to everything I've read about Facebook Connect, all I need to do is call the logout function (and deauthenticate on my server-side). I'm really at a loss; does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong?

  • iPhone SDK: Rendering a CGLayer into an image object

    - by codemercenary
Hi all, I am trying to add a curved border around an image downloaded and to be displayed in a UITableViewCell. In the large view (ie one image on the screen) I have the following: productImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:product.image]]; [productImageView setAlpha:0.4]; productImageView.frame = CGRectMake(10.0, 30.0, 128.0, 128.0); CALayer *roundedlayer = [productImageView layer]; [roundedlayer setMasksToBounds:YES]; [roundedlayer setCornerRadius:7.0]; [roundedlayer setBorderWidth:2.0]; [roundedlayer setBorderColor:[[UIColor darkGrayColor] CGColor]]; [self addSubview:productImageView]; In the table view cell, to get it to scroll fast, an image needs to be drawn in the drawRect method of a UIView which is then added to a custom cell. so in drawRect - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { ... point = CGPointMake(boundsX + LEFT_COLUMN_OFFSET, UPPER_ROW_TOP); //CALayer *roundedlayer = [productImageView layer]; //[roundedlayer setMasksToBounds:YES]; //[roundedlayer setCornerRadius:7.0]; //[roundedlayer setBorderWidth:2.0]; //[roundedlayer setBorderColor:[[UIColor darkGrayColor] CGColor]]; //[productImageView drawRect:CGRectMake(boundsX + LEFT_COLUMN_OFFSET, UPPER_ROW_TOP, IMAGE_WIDTH, IMAGE_HEIGHT)]; // [productImageView.image drawInRect:CGRectMake(boundsX + LEFT_COLUMN_OFFSET, UPPER_ROW_TOP, IMAGE_WIDTH, IMAGE_HEIGHT)]; So this works well, but if I remove the comment and try to show the rounded CA layer the scrolling goes really slow. To fix this I suppose I would have to render this image context into a different image object, and store this in an array, then set this image as something like: productImageView.image = (UIImage*)[imageArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; My question is "How do I render this layer into an image?" TIA.

  • Problem Rendering SIFR with revision 436 on IE6 and IE7

    - by Mark
Hi, I seem to have a problem with SIFR3. I'm using version 436 and from all my testing it appears to be a problem associated with IE6 and IE7 as I cannot replicate the issue in Firefox, Chrome, Safari for Windows, or even IE8. The problem is occurring on my company's website and can be seen here: http://www.wyldeia.co.uk/blog.php When you first go to the page in IE6 or IE7 it appears to render fine. However if you click away onto another page and then click the back button in the browser, all of the text is replaced by an error saying "Rendered with sIFR3 revision 436". If you refresh the page, then the problem goes away, that is until you browse away and come back again. I've tried this on two separate machines both running IE7.0.6000.16809, and a further separate machine running IE6 which I then upgraded to IE8. I thought initially it might be Flash player related but on upgrading from version 9 to 10 of the flash player the problem remains. Further digging around indicated that the error can be caused by having a corrupted flash font file, or having one present that was generated with a previous revision of SIFR3. However I have exported the flash font file using the supplied fla with revision 436 but the problem remains. Usually I like to track the answer down myself but as it is I'm at a bit of a loss on this one so if anyone has any ideas what might be happening here then I would be very grateful! Regards, Mark

  • Asyncronus javascript rendering widgets

    - by Joe J
Hey all, I'm creating a javascript widget so third partys (web designers) can post a link on their website and it will render the widget on their site. Currently, I'm doing this with just a script link tag:

However, this has the side-effect of slowing down a thrid party's website render times of the page if my site is under a load. Therefore, I'd like the third party website to request the widget link from my site asyncronously and then render it on their site when the widget link loads completely. The Google Analytics javascript snippet seems to have a nice bit of asyncronous code that does a nice async request to model off of, but I'm wondering if I can modify it so that it will render content on the third party's site. Using the example below, I want the content of http://mysite.com/link/to/widget.js to render something in the "message" id field.

Third Party Site

asdf

I don't know if what I'm trying to do constitutes Cross Site Scripting (still a bit vague on that concept) but am wondering if what I'm trying to do is possible. Or if anyone has any other approaches to creating javascript widgets effectively, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks for reading this. Joe

  • YUI Menu rendering below "fold" on first open

    - by Flash84x
I have a YUI menu on the bottom navigation of the screen which creates a large white space beneath it where the action list would be rendered if visible... On the first click the menu will render in that white space which requires the user to scroll to see it... on the second click however it will draw upward (ideally) so that the user does not have to scroll to see the menu... the second click also kills that block of white space... i found adding a style of display:none to the div kills the white space... but then YUI doesn't set the display to block, which from what I understood it should... so I wrote another method that would do that manually... but the same behavior happens, the menu first renders below the fold requiring the user to scroll.... 2nd time its works fine... some reason the top/left positions are not being calculated properly on the first click and i cannot seem to figure out why

  • Customizing Rails XML rendering to include extra properties

    - by Isaac Cambron
Let's say I have a model like this: create_table :ninjas do |t| t.string name end And the Ninja class with an extra property: class Ninja < ActiveRecord::Base def honorific "#{name}san" end end And in my controller I just want to render it to XML: def show render :xml => Ninja.find(params[:id]) end The honorific part isn't rendered. That makes sense, since it's just a method, but is there a way of tricking it? I'm totally up for answers to the effect of, "You're doing this totally wrong." I'll just add that I really do want to calculate the honorific on the fly, and not, like, store it in the database or something.

  • Fb:photo not rendering anything

    - by marcgg
I'm trying to display a photo on my facebook connected website. From Facebook's documentation you just need to use valid XFBML and a fb:photo tag as such:
<fb:photo pid="12345"></fb:photo>
My problem is that doesn't render anything when I call: FB.XFBML.Host.parseDomElement(document.getElementById("myPhoto")); If I call the same XFBML on a regular facebook page, it displays without problem, the bug is only on a separated website using facebook connect. Also, I don't get any JS errors. Any help would be appreciated

  • Rendering MXML component only after actionscript is finished

    - by basicblock
In my mxml file, I'm doing some calculations in the script tag, and binding them to a custom component. <fx:Script> [Bindable] public var calc1:Number; [Bindable] public var calc2:Number; private function init():void { calc1 = //calculation; calc2 = //calculation; } </fx:Script> <mycomp:Ball compfield1="{calc1}" compfield2="{calc2}"/> The problem is that the mxml component is being created before the actionscript is run. So when the component is created, it actually doesn't get calc1 and calc2 and it fails from that point. I know that binding happens after that, but the component and its functions have already started and have run with the null or 0 initial values. My solution was to create the component also in actionscript right after calc1 and calc2 have been created. This way I get to control precisely when it's created <fx:Script> [Bindable] public var calc1:Number; [Bindable] public var calc2:Number; private function init():void { calc1 = //calculation; calc2 = //calculation; var Ball:Ball = new Ball(calc1, calc2); } </fx:Script> but this is creating all kinds of other problems due to the way I've set up the component. Is there a way I can still use mxml to create the component, yet control that it the <myComp:Ball> gets created only after init() is run and calc1 calc2 evaluated?

  • Asp.net RenderControl method not rendering autopostback for dropdownlist

    - by Tanya
Hi all, i am bit confused as to why asp.net does not render a dropdownlist with the autopostback property set to true when using the RenderControl method. eg Dim sw As New IO.StringWriter Dim tw As New HtmlTextWriter(sw) Dim table As New Table table.Rows.Add(New TableRow) Dim tr As TableRow = table.Rows(0) tr.Cells.Add(New TableCell) Dim tc As TableCell = tr.Cells(0) Dim ddlMyValues As New DropDownList ddlMyValues.ID = "ddl1" ddlMyValues.Items.Add("Test1") ddlMyValues.Items.Add("Test2") ddlMyValues.Items.Add("Test3") ddlMyValues.AutoPostBack = True tc.Controls.Add(ddlMyValues) table.RenderControl(tw) Debug.WriteLine(sw.ToString) my output renders the dropdown list without the onchange="javascript:setTimeout('__doPostBack(\ddl1\',\'\')', 0)" that is generated by asp.net when using the dropdownlist normally. Is there a work around to this?

  • AjaxControlToolkit TabContainer with weird rendering behavior

    - by sohum
I've built a web application that contains a page that uses the AjaxControlToolkit's TabContainer/TabPanel objects. I've developed a custom stylesheet, as well. I'm developing using Visual Studio 2010. The following is the behavior of my application: VS2010 Development Server (localhost:XXXXX): Works as expected with the custom stylesheet. Local IIS: The TabContainer rendered but the stylesheet wasn't applied. I fixed this by doing a CTRL+F5. It seems that IIS caches stylesheets pretty aggressively. Remote Server: The TabContainer and TabPanel are completely hidden. Looking at the HTML, all of them have their visibility set to hidden. The way I got my files onto my remote server were as follows (I haven't yet set up WebDAV or remote publishing because the server is a Windows 7 box and as far as I am aware does not support FrontPage Extensions): The entire solution is under source code control (SVN). Checked in all pending changes (including projects, aspx files, css, AjaxControlToolkit binaries) Synced on the server. Rebuilt everything on server. Deployed to local IIS on server (which is externally accessible). Both on the local IIS on the server and the development server on the server, the TabContainers are completely hidden. Looking at the SVN status on the server project, only the "AjaxControlToolkit.dll" is under source-code control. All the locale-specific DLLs are not on the server. Could this be a potential issue? I'm not sure what's going on and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

  • Fact or fiction: Webkit’s rendering performance is much lower when used in Qt

    - by Jen
Using Qt’s Webkit implementation renders much slower than directly implementing the Webkit engine -- is this true or just a myth? From my own experience, I found the load time of a complex page about twice as long in Qt’s “Fancy Browser” example as it does in Google Chrome (which also incorporates a port of Webkit), but I hardly think that is a fair comparison. Any insights on this?

  • How to control Dojo FilteringSelect default rendering!?

    - by Nick
Hi, I have a dojo dijit.filering.select that populates with values from a dojo.data.ItemFileReadStore. Everything is working fine except I would like the filtering select to automatically get populated with the first value in the itemFileReadStore. Currently it is loading them as a list of options that are revealed when you click the down arrow, as per spec. I would instead like filteringSelect to be loaded with the first value. How do I do this? For some reason I cant figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated! Kind Regards Nick Frandsen

  • Azure, don't give me multiple VMs, give me one elastic VM

    - by FransBouma
Yesterday, Microsoft revealed new major features for Windows Azure (see ScottGu's post). It all looks shiny and great, but after reading most of the material describing the new features, I still find the overall idea behind all of it flawed: why should I care on how much VMs my web app runs? Isn't that a problem to solve for the Windows Azure engineers / software? And what if I need the file system, why can't I simply get a virtual filesystem ? To illustrate my point, let's use a real example: a product website with a customer system/database and next to it a support site with accompanying database. Both are written in .NET, using ASP.NET and use a SQL Server database each. The product website offers files to download by customers, very simple. You have a couple of options to host these websites: Buy a server, place it in a rack at an ISP and run the sites on that server Use 'shared hosting' with an ISP, which means your sites' appdomains are running on the same machine, as well as the files stored, and the databases are hosted in the same server as the other shared databases. Hire a VM, install your OS of choice at an ISP, and host the sites on that VM, basically the same as the first option, except you don't have a physical server At some cloud-vendor, either host the sites 'shared' or in a VM. See above. With all of those options, scalability is a problem, even the cloud-based ones, though not due to the same reasons: The physical server solution has the obvious problem that if you need more power, you need to buy a bigger server or more servers which requires you to add replication and other overhead Shared hosting solutions are almost always capped on memory usage / traffic and database size: if your sites get too big, you have to move out of the shared hosting environment and start over with one of the other solutions The VM solution, be it a VM at an ISP or 'in the cloud' at e.g. Windows Azure or Amazon, in theory allows scaling out by simply instantiating more VMs, however that too introduces the same overhead problems as with the physical servers: suddenly more than 1 instance runs your sites. If a cloud vendor offers its services in the form of VMs, you won't gain much over having a VM at some ISP: the main problems you have to work around are still there: when you spin up more than one VM, your application must be completely stateless at any moment, including the DB sub system, because what's in memory in instance 1 might not be in memory in instance 2. This might sounds trivial but it's not. A lot of the websites out there started rather small: they were perfectly runnable on a single machine with normal memory and CPU power. After all, you don't need a big machine to run a website with even thousands of users a day. Moving these sites to a multi-VM environment will cause a problem: all the in-memory state they use, all the multi-page transitions they use while keeping state across the transition, they can't do that anymore like they did that on a single machine: state is something of the past, you have to store every byte of state in either a DB or in a viewstate or in a cookie somewhere so with the next request, all state information is available through the request, as nothing is kept in-memory. Our example uses a bunch of files in a file system. Using multiple VMs will require that these files move to a cloud storage system which is mounted in each VM so we don't have to store the files on each VM. This might require different file paths, but this change should be minor. What's perhaps less minor is the maintenance procedure in place on the new type of cloud storage used: instead of ftp-ing into a VM, you might have to update the files using different ways / tools. All in all this makes moving an existing website which was written for an environment that's based around a VM (namely .NET with its CLR) overly cumbersome and problematic: it forces you to refactor your website system to be able to be used 'in the cloud', which is caused by the limited way how e.g. Windows Azure offers its cloud services: in blocks of VMs. Offer a scalable, flexible VM which extends with my needs Instead, cloud vendors should offer simply one VM to me. On that VM I run the websites, store my DB and my files. As it's a virtual machine, how this machine is actually ran on physical hardware (e.g. partitioned), I don't care, as that's the problem for the cloud vendor to solve. If I need more resources, e.g. I have more traffic to my server, way more visitors per day, the VM stretches, like I bought a bigger box. This frees me from the problem which comes with multiple VMs: I don't have any refactoring to do at all: I can simply build my website as if it runs on my local hardware server, upload it to the VM offered by the cloud vendor, install it on the VM and I'm done. "But that might require changes to windows!" Yes, but Microsoft is Windows. Windows Azure is their service, they can make whatever change to what they offer to make it look like it's windows. Yet, they're stuck, like Amazon, in thinking in VMs, which forces developers to 'think ahead' and gamble whether they would need to migrate to a cloud with multiple VMs in the future or not. Which comes down to: gamble whether they should invest time in code / architecture which they might never need. (YAGNI anyone?) So the VM we're talking about, is that a low-level VM which runs a guest OS, or is that VM a different kind of VM? The flexible VM: .NET's CLR ? My example websites are ASP.NET based, which means they run inside a .NET appdomain, on the .NET CLR, which is a VM. The only physical OS resource the sites need is the file system, however this too is accessed through .NET. In short: all the websites see is what .NET allows the websites to see, the world as the websites know it is what .NET shows them and lets them access. How the .NET appdomain is run physically, that's the concern of .NET, not mine. This begs the question why Windows Azure doesn't offer virtual appdomains? Or better: .NET environments which look like one machine but could be physically multiple machines. In such an environment, no change has to be made to the websites to migrate them from a local machine or own server to the cloud to get proper scaling: the .NET VM will simply scale with the need: more memory needed, more CPU power needed, it stretches. What it offers to the application running inside the appdomain is simply increasing, but not fragmented: all resources are available to the application: this means that the problem of how to scale is back to where it should be: with the cloud vendor. "Yeah, great, but what about the databases?" The .NET application communicates with the database server through a .NET ADO.NET provider. Where the database is located is not a problem of the appdomain: the ADO.NET provider has to solve that. I.o.w.: we can host the databases in an environment which offers itself as a single resource and is accessible through one connection string without replication overhead on the outside, and use that environment inside the .NET VM as if it was a single DB. But what about memory replication and other problems? This environment isn't simple, at least not for the cloud vendor. But it is simple for the customer who wants to run his sites in that cloud: no work needed. No refactoring needed of existing code. Upload it, run it. Perhaps I'm dreaming and what I described above isn't possible. Yet, I think if cloud vendors don't move into that direction, what they're offering isn't interesting: it doesn't solve a problem at all, it simply offers a way to instantiate more VMs with the guest OS of choice at the cost of me needing to refactor my website code so it can run in the straight jacket form factor dictated by the cloud vendor. Let's not kid ourselves here: most of us developers will never build a website which needs a truck load of VMs to run it: almost all websites created by developers can run on just a few VMs at most. Yet, the most expensive change is right at the start: moving from one to two VMs. As soon as you have refactored your website code to run across multiple VMs, adding another one is just as easy as clicking a mouse button. But that first step, that's the problem here and as it's right there at the beginning of scaling the website, it's particularly strange that cloud vendors refuse to solve that problem and leave it to the developers to solve that. Which makes migrating 'to the cloud' particularly expensive.

  • Dojo Table not Rendering in IE6

    - by Mike Carey
I'm trying to use Dojo (1.3) checkBoxes to make columns appear/hide in a Dojo Grid that's displayed below the checkBoxes. I got that functionality to work fine, but I wanted to organize my checkBoxes a little better. So I tried putting them in a table. My dojo.addOnLoad function looks like this: dojo.addOnLoad(function(){ var checkBoxes = []; var container = dojo.byId('checkBoxContainer'); var table = dojo.doc.createElement("table"); var row1= dojo.doc.createElement("tr"); var row2= dojo.doc.createElement("tr"); var row3= dojo.doc.createElement("tr"); dojo.forEach(grid.layout.cells, function(cell, index){ //Add a new "td" element to one of the three rows }); dojo.place(addRow, table); dojo.place(removeRow, table); dojo.place(findReplaceRow, table); dojo.place(table, container); }); What's frustrating is: 1) Using the Dojo debugger I can see that the HTML is being properly generated for the table. 2) I can take that HTML and put just the table in an empty HTML file and it renders the checkBoxes in the table just fine. 3) The page renders correctly in Firefox, just not IE6. The HTML that is being generated looks like so:

  Column 1

...

I would have posted to the official DOJO forums, but it says they're deprecated and they're using a mailing list now. They said if a mailing list doesn't work for you, use stackoverflos.com. So, here I am! Thanks for any insight you can provide.

  • Rendering a derived partial view with Html.RenderPartial

    - by FreshCode
Calling Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/Payments/MyControl.ascx"); from a view works if Method.ascx is a control that directly inherits System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl. However, if the control inherits a new class that derives from System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl, the call to Html.RenderPartial("~/Views/Payments/MyDerivedControl.ascx"); fails, reporting that no such view exists. Example derived ViewUserControl: class MyDerivedControl : System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl { public Method() { ViewData["SomeData"] = "test"; } } Is there a workaround, or is there another way I should be doing this? Perhaps an HTML helper?

  • Code Igniter email protocols and rendering HTML emails?

    - by John
I have a website built in code igniter that emails users. I use CI's email class from the controller to do mail out, but I discovered that if I use the "mail" protocol, some (not all) users see un-rendered html emails with the html mark up viewable, while others do not. But if I use the "sendmail" protocol, all users get rendered html emails. So if I did this $config['protocol'] = 'mail'; // add a few more config entries $this->email->initialize($config); Not everyone sees html emails If I did this $config['protocol'] = 'sendmail'; // add a few more config entries $this->email->initialize($config); Everyone sees html emails Why does the protocol matter? Are the email headers different between the two?

  • Delayed "rendering" of WPF/Silverlight Dependency Properties?

    - by Aardvark
Is there a way to know the first time a Dependency Property is accessed through XAML binding so I can actually "render" the value of the property when needed? I have an object (class derived from Control) that has several PointCollection Dependency Properties that may contain 100's or 1000's of points. Each property may arrange the points differently for use in different types shapes (Polyline, Polygon, etc - its more complicated then this, but you get the idea). Via a Template different XAML objects use TemplateBinding to access these properties. Since my object uses a Template I never know what XAML shapes may be in use for my object - so I never know what Properties they may or may not bind to. I'd like to only fill-in these PointCollections when they are actually needed. Normally in .NET I'd but some logic in the Property's getter, but these are bypassed by XAML data binding. I need a WPF AND Silverlight compatible solution. I'd love a solution that avoids any additional complexities for the users of my object.

  • Business Intelligence Development Studio encounter error on Rendering

    - by user366796
I try to develop a data processing extension for SSRS 2008 in order to access database through an entity framework. But when I copy and register the extension in BI Development Studio, it gives me an error message while loading the extension". I built it with targeting framework 4.0 by using Visual Studio 2010 because my data model class library was built with that version of target framework. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Microsoft Entrourage: rendering hyperlinks?

    - by rehanift
When we send emails from my project, we send in both text/plain and text/html formats. All major clients (gmail, yahoo, hotmail, thunderbird, outlook) correctly display the simple HTML that we are using. However, Entourage renders all tags EXCEPT hyperlinks. What is confusing is that emails from other domains render hyperlinks correctly in Entourage. We have tried comparing the source / headers of our emails with others emails that seem to "work" and don't see any obvious differences. I googled around this issue and the only thing I could find what that Entourage doesn't allow users to insert hyperlinks when composing a message. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

  • ASP.NET MVC TextBoxFor helper rendering empty when null

    - by mare
I noticed that TextBoxFor helper renders empty if there is no model, like for instance when I have a CreateEdit ViewUserControl. When in Edit view fields are filled in, when in Create fields are empty but still rendered. The problem is TextBoxFor does not accept different Id for its name (the same as LabelFor and others, but for LabelFor I have custom Html helpers). So in some case we still have to use regular Html.TextBox helper. The problem is if I write this <%=Html.TextBox("postname", Model.PostCode.postname, new { @class = "postsDropDown" })%> an error occurs in Create view (obviously). So I have to do this: <% if (Model != null) %> <%=Html.TextBox("postname", Model.PostCode.postname, new { @class = "postsDropDown" })%> <% else %> <%=Html.TextBox("postname", null, new { @class = "postsDropDown" })%> Now that is something which I don't like anymore (the IF's). Is this the only way to do it? I know I could extend TextBoxFor helpers also but seems like so much trouble. In the end we will come to extending all of the "For" helpers but I think this should be done by ASP.NET MVC team already (built-in).

  • rendering a grid from a table: "this.mainBody is undefined"

    - by farhad
Hello! I have a static html table on a page and i would like to transform it to a grid; so i applied this function after loading the table: function createTable() { // create the grid var grid = new Ext.ux.grid.TableGrid("tabella-colocazioni", { stripeRows: true // stripe alternate rows }); grid.render(); } I got this piece of code from here: http://www.java2s.com/Code/JavaScript/Ext-JS/CreateagridwithfromanexistingunformattedHTMLtable.htm . The result is the error "this.mainBody is undefined on ext-all-debug.js" on FireBug and the grid is empty. The html code of the table is this:

Colocazione

Frequenza

plusquam patria

1

patria pietate

1

Et patria

1

patria prohibet

1

Multos patria

1

patria reddidit

1

patronum patria

1

patria moesta

1

What is the problem? Thank you very much.

  • rendering JSON in GRAILS with part of the attributes of an object

    - by bsreekanth
Hello, I am trying to build JSON from two fields. Say, I have a list of object(party), and I only need to pass 2 items as JSON pair. def list = getMyList() //it contains 2 party objects partyTo = array { for (i in list) { x partyId: i.id y partyName: i.toString() } } The JSON string is {"partyTo":[ {"partyId":12}, {"partyName":"Ar"}, {"partyId":9}, {"partyName":"Sr"} ] } when I extract it at the client, it is treated as 4 objects. I wanted as 2 objects, with the below format. {"partyTo":[ {"partyId":12 , "partyName":"Ar"}, {"partyId":9 , "partyName":"Sr"} ] } I'm getting 4 objects, probably because I use an array to build JSON. I'm new to groovy and JSON, so not sure about the right syntax combinations. Any help highly appreciated. thanks.
