    I've run into a major display problem on newly installed fedora 11, on my 6 years old pc which runs a pentium4 2.4 GHz processor, 1 gb ddr ram, intel 845 motherboard with integrated graphics card. When i open an image or play a video, my complete screen turns garbled. I simply cannot make out whats on my screen. With difficulty i have to close the image/video window and move around the folder window to clean the screen image. Is it because of my display drivers? How can i fix it? I also ran into mp3 plugins and flash issues which i was able to resovle. I'm new to linux, the sole purpose of isntalling it on my old pc was to learn linux but this display problem is frustrating me. Thanks, Salman

  • Format Factory not working for mov files

    I have attempted multiple destination formats with no success. I am using Format Factor 2.30. I drag and drop a .mov file into FF, select all to mpg (or any format) then click Start. It thinks for a couple seconds and then jumps to 100%. When I open the file I get no sound or picture from the video. These mov files were created with a Canon SX10 camera. (It is my brother's camera so I'm not sure of the model.) Any suggestions? TMPGEnc is able to convert the files with the QTReader plug in so the video isn't corrupted or something. Thanks. Jeff

  • Remove Audio stream from XVID files

    I have a bunch of Xvid files that each have an audio stream that I do not want. How can I strip the audio track I don't want using the Linux command line? I don't need the whole script (loop), just what command I would use to process each avi file individually (unless the cmd itself has batch modification built into it). I don't believe the file is in an mkv container, as mkvinfo doesn't find anything.   • Beam display from any computer to shared display

    There are probably a lot of ways to skin this cat. Looking for the cleanest. In our office, we have a large display in a common area. We want to allow any computer in our office (mac, linux, windows) to output its video on the large display. Since some of the computers in the office are stationary, and it's not practical to run video cables everywhere, it would be preferable to make this all happen through the network. It is also possible for us to connect a dedicated (& networked) PC to the large display. How can I do this?

    My university bought new big led display from chinese manufacturers. What I want to do is, show some visualizations (like Windows Media Player, Winamp, Itunes ... does) with music.   • How do I get 480i resolution for an external monitor in Windows 7?

    I'm trying to get a laptop video signal to my really old television, so that I can play movies on it. But the TV won't accept the video signal. I found the manual online, and apparently the output has to be 480i. But I don't know how to do that -- Windows 7 will only let me set the resolution down to 800x600. Even if I get it down to 640x480- is that 480i or 480p? How do I tell the difference? How do I switch between them? How do I get the resolution down so low in the first place?

  • No video output and no status light on HP Proliant Microserver

    I have an issue with a "N40L" HP Proliant Microserver. When the server is powered on the power light turns green but the machine's status light (the HP logo on the front) stays off and there is no video output through th onboard VGA. The system fan kicks in and if connected to a network the link light shows activity. I have no extra boards (iLO card, graphics card) only 4GB PNY non-standard stick of RAM.

  • Is there a way to explore my WHS files via Xbox 360's Media Center app?

    I know its a "Console" question but its really more of a Media Center Extender question! I can access the data through the Video/Pictures options, but not through the Media Center App. Also I can only see the videos that are directly on the Videos folder on my WHS, but not any of the subfolders. Same thing in my Laptop, if I connect to my WHS through Media Player it will only show the videos on Videos but not any other sub-folder, but if I open Media Center I can then connect to server and see all the folders.

  • IP camera's multicast/RTSP conflicting with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi?

    Here at our business we have a Netgear R7000 running DD-WRT. I have been slowly adding IP cameras which I run using Blue Iris software. The last camera I bought (which is NOT a wireless camera), when I plug it into the network I start having really bad connection issues on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The 5GHz works fine, just the 2.4GHz all of the sudden has trouble connecting, as if it's conflicting. I've tried playing with the camera settings, different IP addresses, HTTP ports, etc, and discovered it to be a conflict with multicast. When multicast is checked, the Wi-Fi has issues but my video streams via Blue Iris. When unchecked, Wi-Fi works fine but the video won't stream through Blue Iris. The problem is there are no settings in the camera to change the RTSP port, which is set to 34567. Does anyone know something that could fix this issue? It all seems very strange to me but maybe someone has an idea?

I have followed all of the instructions from ROXIO support to clean my system and do a new install. It still does not work Anybody know how to resolve the problem?

  • Looking for temporal upsampling / motion interpolation software

    I'm looking for something (prereably FOSS software) which can take an animation with N images as input, and which will output an animation with M frames, where M is in the range 2N to 5N or so. I believe the general technique is called "temporal upsampling" or possibly "inbetweening" (or "'tweening" for short). Note that it does need to make some effort to do motion tracking of things in the scene ("optical flow"); just fading ("dissolve") between keyframes isn't going to cut it. Googling "temporal upsampling" turns up any number of papers on the subject, but I've yet to discover any code/software (a gstreamer plugin would be perfect) I can just use to try the technique out. Any suggestions ? Additional information: "Motion interpolation" seems to be the more widely used name in the TV world for what I'm looking for. See this and the video here too. Interestingly, some cinephiles seem to hate what these technologies do to 24FPS film: e.g a comment "makes Gone With The Wind look like a soap opera shot on video".

  • How to trim/cut clips with VLC

    I am running VLC 1.1.5 64-bit on Mac OS X 10.6.6. On the web I found instructions saying I should click on Video-Advanced Controls in the menu bar to reveal options that let me trim and cut video clips. However, there is no such option in my copy of VLC. What I want to do is cut a ~2 minute portion from the middle of a two hour footage (in MXF format that QuickTime can't open) that I've got. Is there another way to trim and cut clips of videos in VLC? Or should I use other (preferably free, Free, and open source) software? Thanks.

  • How to play two or more videos side by side in a syncronized fashion in Linux?

    I have two (or more) video files that I want to play side by side. I could do that simply by opening them in two seperate windows, but that would also seperate all the controls (play/pause/forward/...). I want to play them in a synchronized fashion so that pause/forwarding/... works on both videos simultaneously so that they always stay at the same timecode and they don't go out of sync. How would I accomplish that in Linux? This is needed for viewing only, so compositing them into a new video file first should be avoided if possible, but if there isn't an easy way to do that, I welcome answers doing it with composition as well.

  • What's the best encoding for videos on the Zune?

    I've got videos I want to encode to put on the zune. Have the encoding software (using Expression Encoder), but I'm not sure about what I should transcode to. I used the settings built into EE for the Zune, but the sync software still shows these videos are being converted before sync. I already have to get these videos into an acceptable format, so encoding twice is a waste of time and space. What I'm looking for is a video codec, audio codec, bitrate, WxH, and anything else I need to encode a video so it goes straight from my disk onto my Zune without re-encoding.

    I'm currently putting together a website for my Luddite friend. He needs a blog, photos and videos... all easily updateable by him. WordPress and Blogger both have brilliant functionality to allow you to host your own blog on your own domain, but what about photos and videos? Does YouTube or Google videos or Vimeo or MSN Video or anyone offer the ability to easily insert a video navigation interface onto your own site? (Something similar to YouTube's "Channel" pages, except on your own domain?) Same goes for photos. I'm pretty sure FlickR doesn't allow you to easily upload and manage photos for viewing on your own domain. Does anyone else? My friend doesn't want to be editing any HTML and I don't want to be creating a complicated system to handle tons of different videos. There must a user-friendly solution in this day and age?     Skype an other applications running under windows 7 Ultimate are presenting the video captured from the laptop built-in webcam upside down. I've tried many solution that I was able to find regarding issues like this, but to no avail. Some of the most relevant are discussed here: From Skype Support Network, the thread why is my video image of myself upside-down??? From ASUSTek Forums, the thread Built-in camera upside down Both present several potential solutions to this issue, but I've been unable to fix it for the laptop ASUS U6S. What I've already tried: Changing Drivers The driver that works must be the one from Windows, all others available from ASUS drivers either don't install or install but the webcam doesn't provide any video feed. This disallows all options that concern using an older driver or editing the .inf file as to manually adjust the settings. ASUS does not provide drivers for Windows 7, so I've used drivers from Windows Vista 32 Bit. Using the application manycam This application actually solves the issue (temporarily), but creates new ones: If I use the application to flip the video feed, Skype video call cease to work. This application doesn't save the settings, at least I wasn't able to find any way to save the settings I've used to flip the video feed. A computer restart brings all back to how it was, video feed upside down and if the application is still installed, Skype continues to fail on video calls. Regedit I've searched thru Windows Registry Editor as to find any reference to the webcam settings, hopping to find a key with the Flip parameter, since it's up to the driver to flip the image (by what I could ascertain from this problem). Couldn't find any reference to such settings, either they actually don't exist within the Windows Registry or they use some weird name that I could think off. System Configuration I was able to access the webcam system settings from the Windows Device Manager, but the tab that actually has the Image Rotation setting is always disabled. The same goes for the settings available from the Skype webcam options (that essentially is presenting the same settings as Windows Device Manager, just within a custom Skype pop-up). Question: How can I flip the video feed from the laptop's built-in webcam, as to properly see and broadcast the video?

  • Frame rate upsampling codec/player/software?

    Hello, I recently noticed that when I play both HD and SD videos on my HDMI TV at 1080p 60Hz from my computer, the motion is not fluid as I would expect. As far as I know, it could be because the 24fps video needs to be upsampled by the codec to match the 60Hz output of the monitor. But, as far as I know, the upsampling is done by simply repeating each photogram for a certain amount of frames. I usually play MKV videos with VLC. Do you know if there is a player or codec that performs the upsampling by interpolation like some 100Hz TVs do? I recently saw an LG led TV play a 24fps 720p video at 100Hz with an incredible motion fluidity, and I simply wonder why can't my computer do! I have an NVidia card. Does PureVideo help? I'm a noob with these things. Thank you.
