• Problem on jboss lookup entitymanager

  I have my ear-project deployed in jboss 5.1GA. • Non Document Centric SharePoint Workflow

  SharePoint workflows are document centric in that the base thing the workflow runs on has to be a thing; be it a document or just a list item. The workflow itself is task based, so stuff a user has to do. Now I can put any sort of code in these tasks that I want to and even put complex InfoPath forms in for the user to perform the task. This has been fine on all my previous workflows. But what if I want the tasks to be actual official forms themselves. The item that the workflow runs on is just some abstract concept like an event. An example could be an accident has happened. There isn't an accident form, but a whole set of forms that need to be completed by different people. Task forms aren't really a nice way to go, because it locks all the forms into the task list. You can only access the forms by not deleting the tasks when complete and going to the workflow summery and following the task links to the InfoPath forms or going straight to the tasks list and doing a filter on particular "accidents". These are official documents so ideally there would be a library for each type of document and the workflow would orchestrate the completion of the right forms. It would mean each task would have to create a new blank form and then link the user to that form. The user would go complete the form but then have to go back to the task form and click yes I've completed it until the workflow could progress. Well this is short of the workflow monitoring the forms library form for some completion trigger. But then it all gets messy with the user experience from clicking the link in the task email, to open the Infopath task form, to clicking the link in the subsequent Infopath library form and then return through these forms on completion. It just gets messy trying to retrofit this non document centric sort of workflow into SharePoint. I would really appreciate any input on what might be the best way to do this. Store the forms as task forms Store the forms as library forms and create/link from the task forms Store the forms as different infopath views, and use a forms library. The workflow would trigger variables that progress the view the infopath form shows. Using the same form template for both task forms and a forms library and when a task form is complete, copy the xml into the forms library to have a official record outside of the workflow. Thanks

Event validation is enabled using in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" % in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation. Can any one let me know on where I am going wrong?

• Streaming binary data to WCF rest service gives Bad Request (400) when content length is greater than 64k

  I have a WCF service that takes a stream: [ServiceContract] public class UploadService : BaseService { [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(BodyStyle=WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, Method=WebRequestMethods.Http.Post)] public void Upload(Stream data) { // etc. } } This method is to allow my Silverlight application to upload large binary files, the easiest way being to craft the HTTP request by hand from the client. • What's the best Scala build system?

  I've seen questions about IDE's here -- Which is the best IDE for Scala development? and What is the current state of tooling for Scala?, but I've had mixed experiences with IDEs. Right now, I'm using the Eclipse IDE with the automatic workspace refresh option, and KDE 4's Kate as my text editor. Here are some of the problems I'd like to solve: use my own editor IDEs are really geared at everyone using their components. I like Kate better, but the refresh system is very annoying (it doesn't use inotify, rather, maybe a 10s polling interval). The reason I don't use the built-in text editor is because broken auto-complete functionalities cause the IDE to hang for maybe 10s. rebuild only modified files The Eclipse build system is broken. It doesn't know when to rebuild classes. I find myself almost half of the time going to project-clean. Worse, it seems even after it has finished building my project, a few minutes later it will pop up with some bizarre error (edit - these errors appear to be things that were previously solved with a project clean, but then come back up...). Finally, setting "Preferences / Continue launch if project contains errors" to "prompt" seems to have no effect for Scala projects (i.e. it always launches even if there are errors). build customization I can use the "nightly" release, but I'll want to modify and use my own Scala builds, not the compiler that's built into the IDE's plugin. It would also be nice to pass [e.g.] -Xprint:jvm to the compiler (to print out lowered code). fast compiling Though Eclipse doesn't always build right, it does seem snappy -- even more so than fsc. I looked at Ant and Maven, though haven't employed either yet (I'll also need to spend time solving #3 and #4). I wanted to see if anyone has other suggestions before I spend time getting a suboptimal build system working. Thanks in advance! UPDATE - I'm now using Maven, passing a project as a compiler plugin to it. It seems fast enough; I'm not sure what kind of jar caching Maven does. A current repository for Scala 2.8.0 is available [link]. The archetypes are very cool, and cross-platform support seems very good. However, about compile issues, I'm not sure if fsc is actually fixed, or my project is stable enough (e.g. class names aren't changing) -- running it manually doesn't bother me as much. If you'd like to see an example, feel free to browse the pom.xml files I'm using [github]. UPDATE 2 - from benchmarks I've seen, Daniel Spiewak is right that buildr's faster than Maven (and, if one is doing incremental changes, Maven's 10 second latency gets annoying), so if one can craft a compatible build file, then it's probably worth it...

• XSLT Stylesheet works with a vbs script, but not Perl

  I have a program that is essentially a search application, and it exists in both VBScript and Perl form (I'm trying to make an executable with a GUI). Currently the search application outputs an HTML file, and if a section of text in the HTML is longer than twelve lines then it hides anything after that and includes a clickable More... tag. This is done in XSLT and works with VBScript. I literally copied and pasted the stylesheet into the Perl program that I'm using and it does everything right except for the More... tag. Is there any reason why it would be working with the VBScript but not Perl?   I've been trying to get XPointer URIs working in an SVG file, but haven't had any luck so far. After trying something more complicated and failing, I simplified it down to just referencing an ID. However, this still fails. The spec seems pretty clear about this implementation: http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/struct.html#URIReference I found an example online of what should be a working XPointer reference within an svg document. Here is the Original.   I want to know if there is a better way (than what I'm currently doing) to obtain and hold a reference to a property in another object using only the object and property string names. Particularly, is there a better way to do this with the new dynamic functionality of .Net 4.0? Here is what I have right now. I have a "PropertyReference<T>" object that takes an object name and property name in the constructor. An Initialize() method uses reflection to find the object and property and stores the property Getter as an Action<T> and the property Setter as an Func<T>. And not necessarily for ProgressEvents, but when going through steps. Setting step:Updating project Setting Perc 25 Setting Perc 50 Setting Perc 75 Setting Perc 100 The issue is, only the very last percent and step is shown. that is, when it's all done, the progress bar jumps to 100% and shows the last step label.   I have data on which I need to count +1 if a particular condition exists or another condition doesn't exist. I'm using SQL Server 2008. I shred the following simplified sample XML into a temp table and validate it: <product type="1"> <param type="1"> <item mode="0" weight="1" /> </param> <param type="2"> <item mode="1" weight="1" /> <item mode="0" weight="0.1" /> </param> <param type="3"> <item mode="1" weight="0.75" /> <item mode="1" weight="0.25" /> </param> </product> The validation in concern is the following rule: For each product type, for each param type, mode may be 0 & (1 || 2). In other words, there may be a 0(s), but then 1s or 2s are required, or there may be only 1(s) or 2(s). There cannot be only 0s, and there cannot be 1s and 2s. The only part I haven't figured out is how to detect if there are only 0s. This seems like a "not having" problem. I am not sure how to fix this issue. would it be better if I use an IDE like Eclipse or NetBeans and create a real Java "web app" so that everything can be "self-configured" by the usage of a web.config XML configuration file?   Hey I am connecting a MYSQL database through hibernate and i seem to have processes that are not being killed after they are finished in the session. I have called flush and close on each session but when i check the server the last processes are still there with a sleep command. This is a new problem which i am having and was not the case yesterday. Is there any way i can ensure the killng of theses processes when i am done with a session. • why custom state won't work with compound drawable?

  Hello I am trying to make a password registration widget that will show a little checkbox in the textbox when both password boxes match. I decided to go about this by extending EditText to implement a valid and an empty state and then just use a state-list drawable to handle everything else. I followed the same method that the CompoundButton uses to add a custom state and everything seems to be right but the image will never change no matter what the state is (custom state or even state_focused etc) Is there some reason that the compound drawables of a TextView wouldn't work as a state-list drawable? Or, am I doing something wrong?   I'm working on a website that has a lot of transparency involved, and I thought I would try to build it entirely in RGBA and then do fallbacks for IE. I need a "facebox" style border effect, where the outer border is rounded and is less opaque than the background of the box it surrounds. The last example from http://24ways.org/2009/working-with-rgba-colour seems to suggest that it's possible, but I can't seem to get it to work. This is exactly the opposite of what I am trying to achieve, but it seems like it should be possible based on the examples I've seen. I should also add that I can't use another element inside the container, because I'm also going to use a border-radius on the container to get rounded corners, and webkit squares the corners of the child elements if they have a background assigned, which would essentially mean a rounded outer border with square contents. • Web Services Primer for a WinForms Developer?

  I've been writing client/server applications with Winforms for about six years now, but I have yet to venture into the web space (neither ASP.NET nor web services). Given the direction that the job market has been heading for some time and the fact that I have a basic curiosity, I'd like to get involved with writing web services, but I don't know where to start. I've read about various options (XML/SOAP vs. JSON, REST vs...well, actually I don't know what it's called, etc.), but I'm not sure what sort of criteria are in play when making the determination to use one or the other. Obviously, I'd like to leverage the tools that I have (Visual Studio, the .NET framework, etc.) without hamstringing myself into only targeting a particular audience (i.e. writing the service in such a way as to make it difficult to consume from a Windows Mobile/Android/iPhone client, for example). For the record, my plan--for now--is to use WCF for my web service development, but I'm open to using another .NET approach if that's advisable. I realize that this question is pretty open-ended so it may get closed, but here are some things I'm wondering: What are some things to consider when choosing the type of web service (REST, etc.) I intend to write? Is it possible (and, if so, feasible) to move from one approach to another? Can web services be written in an event-driven way? As I said I'm a Winforms developer, so I'm used to objects raising events for me to react to. For instance, if I have two clients connected to my service, is there a way for me to "push" information to one of them as a result of an action by the other? If this is possible, is this advisable or am I just not thinking about it correctly? What authentication mechanisms seem to work best for public-facing services? What about if I plan to have different types of OS'es and clients connecting to the service? Is there a generally accepted platform-agnostic approach? In the line of authentication, is this something that I should be doing myself (authenticating an managing sessions, etc.) or is this something should be handled at the framework level and I just define exactly how it should work? If that's the case, how do I tell who the requester has authenticated themselves as? I started writing an authentication mechanism (simple username/password combinations stored in the database and a corresponding session table with a GUID key) within my service and just requiring that key to be passed with every operation (other than logging in, of course), but I want to make sure that I'm not reinventing the wheel here. However, I also don't want to clutter up the server with a bunch of machine user accounts just to use Basic authentication. I'm also under the impression that Digest (and of course Windows) authentication requires a machine (or AD) user account.

• Adding GestureOverlayView to my SurfaceView class, how to add to view hierarchy?

  I was informed in a later answer that I have to add the GestureOverlayView I create in code to my view hierarchy, and I am not 100% how to do that. Below is the original question for completeness. I want my game to be able to recognize gestures. I have this nice SurfaceView class that I do an onDraw to draw my sprites, and I have a thread thats running it to call the onDraw etc . This all works great. I am trying to add the GestureOverlayView to this and it just isn't working. Finally hacked to where it doesn't crash but this is what i have public class Panel extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback, OnGesturePerformedListener { public Panel(Context context) { theContext=context; mLibrary = GestureLibraries.fromRawResource(context, R.raw.myspells); GestureOverlayView gestures = new GestureOverlayView(theContext); gestures.setOrientation(gestures.ORIENTATION_VERTICAL); gestures.setEventsInterceptionEnabled(true); gestures.setGestureStrokeType(gestures.GESTURE_STROKE_TYPE_MULTIPLE); gestures.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT)); //GestureOverlayView gestures = (GestureOverlayView) findViewById(R.id.gestures); gestures.addOnGesturePerformedListener(this); } ... ... onDraw... surfaceCreated(..); ... ... public void onGesturePerformed(GestureOverlayView overlay, Gesture gesture) { ArrayList<Prediction> predictions = mLibrary.recognize(gesture); // We want at least one prediction if (predictions.size() > 0) { Prediction prediction = predictions.get(0); // We want at least some confidence in the result if (prediction.score > 1.0) { // Show the spell Toast.makeText(theContext, prediction.name, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } } } The onGesturePerformed is never called. Their example has the GestureOverlay in the xml, I am not using that, my activity is simple: @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); Panel p = new Panel(this); setContentView(p); } So I am at a bit of a loss of the missing piece of information here, it doesn't call the onGesturePerformed and the nice pretty yellow "you are drawing a gesture" never shows up.
