  • What language is .NET Framework written in?

    - by chester89
The question I always wanted to ask and was afraid to, actually - what language is .NET Framework written in? I mean library itself. It seems to me that it was C and C++ mostly. (I hope Jon Skeet is reading this one, it`ll be very interesting to hear what he thinks about it)

  • Bitmap.Save problems

    - by user284026
Hello, can anyone tell me if you know to be a problem with Bitmap and steganography for WM 6? I am working on a project and i have to hide a digital signature in a bitmap. The algorithm works perfect, as in untill i have the image on the memory the bitmap contains the modified bytes. But after i save the image (Bitmap.Save()) and I reopen the image, than those bytes are lost. When i say lost i mean they are the orriginal bytes from when the picture was taken. Thank you.

  • Windows Mobile 6.5 GPS Device - WaitForMultipleObjects returns 258 (timeout)

    - by wizmagister
    I’ve created a GPS program that track positions in realtime in the background for Windows mobile 6.1 in 2008-2009. It ran fine on these devices for many years. For some reason, the same code never worked perfectly on Windows Mobile 6.5. After many hour of operations (mostly when nobody use the device), I receive a “Timeout” (code 258) from the function "WaitForMultipleObjects": this.GPSEvent_WaitValue = WaitForMultipleObjects(2, this.GPSEvent_Handles, 0, 45000); Again, this can work for hours and suddenly, it's just impossible to get another position without : UPDATE: - Restarting the device (GoogleMap confirms that there's no GPS device present!) It has something to do with Windows Mobile going to sleep and slowing up my thread. Here's the core code (adapted from Microsoft SDK Sample): /// <summary> /// When "WindowsMobile" wake up the program to check for a new position /// </summary> private void OnNextGPSEvent_Callback() { int SecondsToNextWakeUp = ETL.Mobile.Device.ScheduledCallback.MINIMUM_SECONDTONEXTWAKEUP; switch (this.SleepingState) { case SleepingStateType.SleepingForNextPosition: // Get position this.GPSEvent_WaitValue = (WaitForEventThreadResultType)WaitForMultipleObjects(2, this.GPSEvent_Handles, 0, 45000); switch (this.GPSEvent_WaitValue) { case WaitForEventThreadResultType.Event_LocationChanged: // Got a new position this.FireLocationChanged(this.GetCurrentPosition()); // Manage device shutdown (save battery) if (this.PositionFrequency > MIN_SECONDS_FREQUENCY_FORDEVICE_SHUTDOWN) { // Close device this.CloseDevice(); SecondsToNextWakeUp = (this.PositionFrequency - GPSDEVICE_LOAD_SECONDS_LOAD_TIME); this.SleepingState = SleepingStateType.SleepingBeforeDeviceWakeUp; } else { // Default Wait Time this.SleepingState = SleepingStateType.SleepingForNextPosition; } break; case WaitForEventThreadResultType.Event_StateChanged: break; case WaitForEventThreadResultType.Timeout: case WaitForEventThreadResultType.Failed: case WaitForEventThreadResultType.Stop: // >>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is where the error happens <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< // >>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is where the error happens <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< // >>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is where the error happens <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< // Too many errors this.ConsecutiveErrorReadingDevice++; if (this.ConsecutiveErrorReadingDevice > MAX_ERRORREADINGDEVICE) { this.CloseDevice(); SecondsToNextWakeUp = (this.PositionFrequency - GPSDEVICE_LOAD_SECONDS_LOAD_TIME); this.SleepingState = SleepingStateType.SleepingBeforeDeviceWakeUp; } else { // Default Wait Time this.SleepingState = SleepingStateType.SleepingForNextPosition; } break; } #endregion break; case SleepingStateType.SleepingBeforeDeviceWakeUp: this.OpenDevice(); SecondsToNextWakeUp = GPSDEVICE_LOAD_SECONDS_LOAD_TIME; this.SleepingState = SleepingStateType.SleepingForNextPosition; break; } if (this.IsListeningGPSEvent) { // Ajustement du prochain rappel this.NextGPSEvent_Callback.SecondToNextWakeUp = SecondsToNextWakeUp; this.NextGPSEvent_Callback.RequestWakeUpCallback(); } } /// <summary> ///Create Thread /// </summary> private void StartListeningThreadForGPSEvent() { // We only want to create the thread if we don't have one created already and we have opened the gps device if (this._GPSEventThread == null) { // Create and start thread to listen for GPS events this._GPSEventThread = new System.Threading.Thread(new System.Threading.ThreadStart(this.ListeningThreadForGPSEvent)); this._GPSEventThread.Start(); } } private void ListeningThreadForGPSEvent() { this.GPSEvent_WaitValue = WaitForEventThreadResultType.Stop; this.IsListeningGPSEvent = true; // Allocate handles worth of memory to pass to WaitForMultipleObjects this.GPSEvent_Handles = Helpers.LocalAlloc(12); Marshal.WriteInt32(this.GPSEvent_Handles, 0, this._StopHandle.ToInt32()); Marshal.WriteInt32(this.GPSEvent_Handles, 4, this._NewLocationHandle.ToInt32()); Marshal.WriteInt32(this.GPSEvent_Handles, 8, this._GPSDeviceStateChanged.ToInt32()); this.Start_NextGPSEvent_Timer(this.PositionFrequency); this.SleepingState = SleepingStateType.SleepingBeforeDeviceWakeUp; this.OnNextGPSEvent_Callback(); }

  • Nonblocking io webserver/framework for java

    - by SeekingNonblockingIo
Does anyone know of any node.js style webserver framework for java? I realized that having nonblocking callback behavior while handling a web request will require deep support at the webserver level. I am interested in node.js, but when I have a web server that ends up persisting data, I would like to take advantage of the static type system that Java offers. However, I want the scalability of non-blocking io.

  • ETA on Smart Device Projects for Visual Studio 2010

    - by Vaccano
I really want to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010. But since I do a lot of development for the Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile I cannot. (I develop for a Symbol device that does not support Windows Phone 7, so that is not a option.) Does any one know any kind of time frame of when Microsoft plans to add support for Smart Device Projects into Visual Studio 2010

  • Framework Question

    - by Johhny
I need a language and web framework that is really easy to use, that only has 12 or so commands, that is in one language all the way through (front/middle/back) and takes 15 minutes to master. Something like this: 10 CreateWEBFormAndCreateRequiredDBTablesAndSaveToDatabase("First Name", "Last Name") 20 CreateWEBPageThankingUser() 30 MakeAllWEBPagesPrettyByExaminingWebSitesOnTheInterWebAndMakingADecision() 40 GOTO 10 Oh, and it has to be written in C#

  • Flickering Task Bar on Full Screen Windows Mobile 6 Apps

    - by CDM
Just finishing off an update to an application written in VB.NET that used to run fine under CE.NET 4.2. Deployment platform is now Windows Mobile 6.1. The application runs in full screen, however whenever a new form is opened, the task bar, i.e. the bar with the start button comes to the fore and then the new form takes over. This is particularly annoying as I have a form that has many sub forms which are 128,128 and still the task bar flashes and obscures part of the user input screen. Has anyone comes across this? Any known workarounds?

  • Not enough storage is available to complete this operation - Program or Storage memory?

    - by Grant Crofton
I've been given a Windows Mobile app written in .Net CF 3.5 to fix, and one of the problems is to do with storage. The message 'Not enough storage is available to complete this operation' has appeared a few times - it's logged in the SQL CE database, and always happens during data access (but not the same bit of data access). The thing I'm slightly confused about is whether this refers to Program Memory (e.g. RAM) or Storage Memory (e..g permanent storage). It would appear to be storage memory, but the devices seem to have plenty free. While there are some OutOfMemoryExceptions, these appear totally unrelated to this problem (in that that happen at a different time due to an image-related issue). We're using SQL CE 3.5 with a single connection, which is stored along with the app on the device (as opposed to the storage card). The device is a Motorola MC75 running Windows Mobile 6.1. Any thoughts?

  • Running out of memory when getting a bitmap from a server?

    - by ikky
Hi! I'm making an application which uses MANY images. The application gets the images from a server, and downloads them one at a time. After many images the creation of a bitmap returns an exception, but i don't know how to solve this. Here is my function for downloading the images: public static Bitmap getImageFromWholeURL(String sURL) { HttpWebRequest myRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(sURL); myRequest.Method = "GET"; // If it does not exist anything on the url, then return null try { HttpWebResponse myResponse = (HttpWebResponse)myRequest.GetResponse(); System.Drawing.Bitmap bmp = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(myResponse.GetResponseStream()); myResponse.Close(); return bmp; } catch (Exception e) { return null; } } Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance!

  • What is the fastest way to insert 100 000 records from one database to another?

    - by Pentium10
I have a mobile application. My client has a large data set ~100.000 records. It's updated frequently. When we sync we need to copy from one database to another. I have attached the second database to the main, and run an insert into table select * from sync.table. This is extremely slow, it takes about 10 minutes I think. I noticed that the journal file gets increased step by step. How can I speed this up? EDITED 1 I have indexes off, and I have journal off. Using insert into table select * from sync.table it still takes 10 minutes. EDITED 2 If I run a query like select id,invitem, invid, cost from inventory where itemtype = 1 order by invitem limit 50 it takes 15-20 seconds. The table schema is: CREATE TABLE inventory ('id' INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT NOT NULL, 'serverid' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'itemtype' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'invitem' VARCHAR, 'instock' FLOAT NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'cost' FLOAT NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'invid' VARCHAR, 'categoryid' INTEGER DEFAULT 0, 'pdacategoryid' INTEGER DEFAULT 0, 'notes' VARCHAR, 'threshold' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'ordered' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'supplier' VARCHAR, 'markup' FLOAT NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'taxfree' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, 'dirty' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 1, 'username' VARCHAR, 'version' INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 15 ) Indexes are created like CREATE INDEX idx_inventory_categoryid ON inventory (pdacategoryid); CREATE INDEX idx_inventory_invitem ON inventory (invitem); CREATE INDEX idx_inventory_itemtype ON inventory (itemtype); I am wondering, the insert into ... select * from isn't the fastest built-in way to do massive data copy? EDITED 3 SQLite is serverless, so please stop voting a particular answer, because that is not the answer I'm sure.
