  • How to load an image in matlab from java

    - by Ian
Basically I am trying to create a little program that will allow me to make calls in matlab from a jave GUI It's mainly going to be used for image manipulation and deblurring but I am struggling to find a way that will effectively give me full matlab control from the java end I am hoping to have it work like so: { //create matlab execution call String loadImage = " image1 = imread ('imageOnComputer.jpg'); "; //send instruction to matlab and save the path to it so java can //use the newly created variable resultingVariablePath = java.sendInstructionToMatlab(loadImage); //display on the screen java.displayImage(resultingVariablePath); } Basically I am just trying to find out if there is a plugin for matlab (or some java package) that will grant you (pretty much) full control over matlab.

  • Writing a PHP web crawler using cron

    - by Horse
Hi all I have written myself a web crawler using simplehtmldom, and have got the crawl process working quite nicely. It crawls the start page, adds all links into a database table, sets a session pointer, and meta refreshes the page to carry onto the next page. That keeps going until it runs out of links That works fine however obviously the crawl time for larger websites is pretty tedious. I wanted to be able to speed things up a bit though, and possibly make it a cron job. Any ideas on making it as quick and efficient as possible other than setting the memory limit / execution time higher?

  • How can I use curl to login multiple users from one php script

    - by kamal
    Here is the scenario: I have configured multiple users with login names aa1, aa2 .. zz99 , all with the same password, now i want to login to a php based server with these login ID's. I have a working script that logs in one user with a username and password, and using curl, browses to a target page: // Assume php , since somehow the php encapsulation quotes were giving me trouble $sHost = $argv[2]; $sStart = $argv[3]; $sReqId = $argv[4]; $sPage = $argv[5]; $sReqLogFile = $argv[6]; $sRespLogFile = $argv[7]; $sUserName = $argv[8]; $sPassword = $argv[9]; $sExecDelay = $argv[10]; //optional args: if($argc 11) { $sCommonSID = $argv[11]; } //$sXhprofLogFile = ""; $sSysStatsLogFile= ""; $sBaseUrl = 'https://'.$sHost.'/'; $nExecTime = 0; $sCookieFileName = 'cookiejar/'.genRandomString().'.txt'; touch($sCookieFileName); // Set the execution delay: $sStart += $sExecDelay; // Get the PHP Session Id: if(isset($sCommonSID)) { $sSID = $sCommonSID; }else{ $sSID = getSID($sHost,$sBaseUrl, $sUserName, $sPassword); } // Sleep for 100us intervals until we reach the stated execution time: do { usleep(100); }while(getFullMicrotime()$sPage, "pageUrl"=$sBaseUrl, "execStart" =$nExecStart, "execEnd"=$nExecEnd, "respTime"=$nExecTime, "xhprofToken"=$sXhpToken, "xhprofLink"=$sXhpLink, "fiveMinLoad"=$nFiveMinLoad); }else{ $nExecStart = 0; $sUrl = "***ERROR***"; $aReturn = null; } writeReqLog($sReqId, $nExecStart, $sSID, $sUrl, $sReqLogFile); return $aReturn; } function getFullMicrotime() { $fMtime = microtime(true); if(strpos($fMtime, ' ') !== false) { list($nUsec, $nSec) = explode(' ', $fMtime); return $nSec + $nUsec; } return $fMtime; } function writeRespLog($nReqId, $sHost, $sPage, $sSID = "***ERROR***", $nExecStart = 0, $nExecEnd = 0, $nRespTime = 0, $sXhpToken = "", $sXhpLink = "", $nFiveMinLoad = 0, $sRespLogFile) { $sMsg = $nReqId; $sMsg .= "\t".$sHost; $sMsg .= "/".$sPage; $sMsg .= "\t".$sSID; $sMsg .= "\t".$nExecStart; $sMsg .= "\t".$nExecEnd; $sMsg .= "\t".$nRespTime; $sMsg .= "\t".$sXhpToken; $sMsg .= "\t".$nFiveMinLoad; error_log($sMsg."\n",3,$sRespLogFile); } function writeReqLog($nReqId, $nExecStart, $sSID, $sUrl, $sReqLogFile) { $sMsg = $nReqId; $sMsg .= "\t".$sUrl; $sMsg .= "\t".$sSID; $sMsg .= "\t".$nExecStart; error_log($sMsg."\n",3,$sReqLogFile); } function parseSIDValue($sText) { $sSID = ""; preg_match('/SID:(.*)/',$sText, $aSID); if (count($aSID)) { $sSID = $aSID[1]; } return $sSID; } function parseFiveMinLoad($sText) { $nLoad = 0; $aMatch = array(); preg_match('/--5-MIN-LOAD:(.*)--/',$sText, $aMatch); if (count($aMatch)) { $nLoad = $aMatch[1]; } return $nLoad; } function curlRequest($sUrl, $sSID="") { global $sCookieFileName; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $sUrl); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 2); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 1); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)"); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,1); if($sSID == "") { curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, $sCookieFileName); } else { curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE, $sCookieFileName); } $result =curl_exec ($ch); curl_close ($ch); return $result; } function parseXHProfToken($sPageContent) { //https://ktest.server.net/xhprof/xhprof_html/index.php?run=4d004b280a990&source=mybox $sToken = ""; $sRelLink = ""; $aMatch = array(); $aResp = array(); preg_match('/$sToken, "relLink"=$sRelLink); return $aResp; } function genRandomString() { $length = 10; $characters = '0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'; $string = ''; for ($p = 0; $p

  • Is there a single Git command to get the current tag, branch and commit?

    - by Koraktor
I'm currently using a collection of three commands to get the current tag, branch and the date and SHA1 of the most recent commit. git describe --always --tag git log -1 --format="%H%n%aD" git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD Which will output something like: 1.2.3-gdeadbeef deadbeef3b8d90071c24f51ac8f26ce97a72727b Wed, 19 May 2010 09:12:34 +0200 master To be honest, I'm totally fine with this. But I'm using these commands from Maven and anyone who'd used Maven before, knows how much things like external commands bloat the POM. I just want to slim down my pom.xml and maybe reduce execution time a bit.

  • How do I can linux flock command to prevent another root process deleting a file?

    - by Danmaxis
Hello there, I would like to prevent one of my root process from deleting a certaing file. So I came across the flock command, it seems to fit my need, but I didnt get its sintax. If I only indicate a shared lock, it doesnt work: flock -s "./file.xml" If I add a timeout parameter, it still doesnt work flock -s -w5 "./file.xml" It seems that way, it fits in flock [-sxun][-w #] fd# way. (What is this fd# parameter?) So, I tried the flock [-sxon][-w #] file [-c] command Using flock -s -w5 "./file.xml" -c "tail -3 ./file.xml" and it worked, tail command at ./file.xml was executed. But I would like to know, does the lock end after the command or does it last 5 seconds after the end of the command execution? My main question is, how can I prevent another root process deleting a file in linux?

  • Symfony sfPHPExcelPlugin in Linux

    - by Tere
Hi! I'm using the PHPExcel plugin for Symfony 1.4 (sfPHPExcelPlugin) on Ubuntu (using PHP 5.10), with this code for saving the file that I am writing: // Save Excel 2007 file echo date('H:i:s') . " Write to Excel2007 format\n"; $objWriter = PHPExcel_IOFactory::createWriter($objPHPExcel, 'Excel2007'); $objWriter->save(str_replace('.php', '.xlsx', __FILE__)); // Echo done echo date('H:i:s') . " Done writing file.\r\n"; I am sure that the execution is reaching this part of the code, because the echo messages are shown but I am not downloading the Excel file! Could it be because I am trying it in Linux, not in Windows? Thank you!

  • Condor job using DAG with some jobs needing to run the same host

    - by gurney alex
I have a computation task which is split in several individual program executions, with dependencies. I'm using Condor 7 as task scheduler (with the Vanilla Universe, due do constraints on the programs beyond my reach, so no checkpointing is involved), so DAG looks like a natural solution. However some of the programs need to run on the same host. I could not find a reference on how to do this in the Condor manuals. Example DAG file: JOB A A.condor JOB B B.condor JOB C C.condor JOB D D.condor PARENT A CHILD B C PARENT B C CHILD D I need to express that B and D need to be run on the same computer node, without breaking the parallel execution of B and C. Thanks for your help.

  • perl script grabbing environment vars from "someplace else"

    - by Michael Wilson
On a Solaris box in a "mysterious production system" I'm running a perl script that references an environment variable. No big deal. The contents of that variable from the shell both pre and post execution are what I expect. However, when reported by the script, it appears as though it's running in some other sub-shell which is clobbering my vars with different values for the duration of the script. Unfortunately I really can't paste the code. I'm trying to get an atomic case, but I'm at my wit's end here. Thoughts?

  • How have your coding values changed since graduating?

    - by Matt
We all walked out of school with the stars in our eyes and little experience in "real-world" programming. How have your opinions on programming as a craft changed since you've gained more experience away from academia? I've become more and more about design a la McConnell : wide use of encapsulation, quality code that gives you warm fuzzy feelings when you read it, maintainability over execution performance, etc..., whereas many of my co-workers have followed a different path of fewer middlemen layers getting in the way, code that is right out in the open and easier to locate, even if harder to read, and performance-centric designs. What have you learned about the craft of software design which has changed the way you approach coding since leaving the academic world?

  • SQL Server JOIN with optional NULL values

    - by Paul McLoughlin
Imagine that we have two tables as follows: Trades ( TradeRef INT NOT NULL, TradeStatus INT NOT NULL, Broker INT NOT NULL, Country VARCHAR(3) NOT NULL ) CTMBroker ( Broker INT NOT NULL, Country VARCHAR(3) NULL ) (These have been simplified for the purpose of this example). Now, if we wish to join these two tables on the Broker column, and if a country exists in the CTMBroker table on the Country, we have the following two choices: SELECT T.TradeRef,T.TradeStatus FROM Trades AS T JOIN CTMBroker AS B ON B.Broker=T.Broker AND ISNULL(B.Country, T.Country) = T.Country or SELECT T.TradeRef,T.TradeStatus FROM Trades AS T JOIN CTMBroker AS B ON B.Broker=T.Broker AND (B.COUNTRY=T.Country OR B.Country IS NULL) These are both logically equivalent, however in this specific circumstance for our database (SQL Server 2008, SP1) two different execution plans are produced for these two queries with the second version significantly outperforming the first version in terms of both time and logical reads. My question really is as follows: as a general rule would (2) be preferred to (1), or does this just happen to be exploiting some particular idiosyncracy of the optimiser in 2008 SP1 (that could therefore change with future versions of SQL Server).

  • iPhone Wait For Animation Ending

    - by paul simmons
Hi, In an iPhone application, I try to catch animation endings using setAnimationDidStopSelector. I try to suspend code execution until animation ends. I have tried this; set a global BOOL variable, set it to TRUE before commiting animation and after commiting animations waited using a while loop. In the setAnimationDidStopSelector, set the BOOL variable to FALSE and hope while loop to break. But unluckily this did not work, the code did not even fall into setAnimationDidStopSelector (I check that with some trace outputs). What do you suggest?

  • Passing information between test methods in a junit testcase

    - by Jijoy
Hi, Currently I am creating a TestCase for one work flow and a workflow have different steps. The results of one step is important since , second step needs to know value of step1's execution. class TestCaseWorkFlow1 extends TestCase { private static String resultOfStep1 = null; public void testStep1(){ if(failed){ resultOfStep1 = "failed"; } } public void testStep2(){ if(resultOfStep1 != null ) { //First test failed. }else { } } } Currently we are using static variable to pass information between testmethods . What is the best solution for this scenario ? Please help. Thanks J

  • Why is this postgresql query so slow?

    - by user315975
I'm no database expert, but I have enough knowledge to get myself into trouble, as is the case here. This query SELECT DISTINCT p.* FROM points p, areas a, contacts c WHERE ( p.latitude > 43.6511659465 AND p.latitude < 43.6711659465 AND p.longitude > -79.4677941889 AND p.longitude < -79.4477941889) AND p.resource_type = 'Contact' AND c.user_id = 6 is extremely slow. The points table has fewer than 2000 records, but it takes about 8 seconds to execute. There are indexes on the latitude and longitude columns. Removing the clause concering the resource_type and user_id make no difference. The latitude and longitude fields are both formatted as number(15,10) -- I need the precision for some calculations. There are many, many other queries in this project where points are compared, but no execution time problems. What's going on?

  • Can I change the datsource of report model at runtime

    - by Manab De
I've some adhoc reports developed on some report models which are published on Report Server (we're using SSRS 2008). Everything is running well. Now in our production environment we've near about forty (40) customers who have their own database (each have the same table structures and other database objects). Now the challenge is whenever a customer will log into the report server using windows authentication and trying to view those reports we need to get the SQL data from the proper database only. Reports are designed using the report model and each model has a valid data source which is connected to particular database. We can create forty separate data sources each will be connected to specific database. My question is, is there any way through which we can change the report model data source name dynamically or during runtime based on the customer name so that during execution of the report, SSRS would fetch the data from the correct database but not from any other database. Please help me.

  • How to know who kills my threads

    - by mcabral
    I got a thread that is just banishing.. i'd like to know who is killing my thread and why. It occurs to me my thread is being killed by the OS, but i'd like to confirm this and if possible to know why it's killing it. As for the thread, i can assert it has at least 40 min of execution before dying, but it suddenly dies around 5 min. public void RunWorker() { Thread worker = new Thread(delegate() { DoSomethingForALongLongTime(); }); worker.IsBackground = true; worker.SetApartmentState(System.Threading.ApartmentState.STA); worker.Start(); }

  • How to declare a variable that spans multiple lines

    - by Chris Wilson
I'm attempting to initialise a string variable in C++, and the value is so long that it's going to exceed the 80 character per line limit I'm working to, so I'd like to split it to the next line, but I'm not sure how to do that. I know that when splitting the contents of a stream across multiple lines, the syntax goes like cout << "This is a string" << "This is another string"; Is there an equivalent for variable assignment, or do I have to declare multiple variables and concatenate them? Edit: I misspoke when I wrote the initial question. When I say 'next line', I'm just meaning the next line of the script. When it is printed upon execution, I would like it to be on the same line.

  • Using Drools to provide error processing and consequence management

    - by Mike
Hi, I am working on a module whose purpose is to process Java exceptions and decide upon a strategy for dealing with them. The exceptions could be things I know about (explicit business exceptions eg TransformationException) or more general environmental stuff (JMS errors, IO errors etc) The facts inserted into the knowledge base are all the same class, and wrap (contain) an Exception. I want to write a rule that will explicitly match the exceptions I know how to deal with (eg TransformationException) and have another rule that catches 'everything else' The problem seems to me to be that for a fact containing a TransformationException, both rules will fire and the output will be uncertain. How would I go about writing such exclusive rules without relying on salience to steer the order of execution (this seems to be bad practice from what I have read)? I have a solution in place that I am not happy with whereby the outcome depends on the order in which the rules are defined in my .drl.

  • Security in HTTP Adapters

    - by Debopam
I just started using IBM Worklight 5.0. I have been going through the HTTP Adapters recently and have successfully been able to Run as "Invoke Worklight Procedure". But I am stuck with the Adapter execution in the App. To my knowledge I think this is some kind of security issue where the client request to Worklight Server is unauthorized (401). Can any tell me or refer to some blog/website where there are steps to overcome this problem? I already got some of the websites but at this moment I am really confused on how to use them.

  • Java: stopping long HTTP operations

    - by kilonet
I'm using Apache Common library for HTTP operations: HttpClient client = getClient(); PutMethod put = new PutMethod(url); FileRequestEntity countingFileRequestEntity = new FileRequestEntity(file, "application/octet-stream"); put.setRequestEntity(countingFileRequestEntity); client.executeMethod(put); put.releaseConnection(); I wonder how can safely interrup long HTTP operation. Running it in new thread and stopping it seems to be wrong way. HttpMethodBase has abort() method, but I can't understand how to use it because client.executeMethod blocks execution until it complets

  • Can i configure emacs to use gdb like a graphical debugger?

    - by Joey Carson
I'm pretty sure that this how other IDE's do it, e.g. on windows eclipse uses the output of gdb from MinGW (the windows port of GNU toolchain) to map where execution is in the source code and what values variables hold, etc. I'm stuck using gdb via a script that prepares our application in a chroot and does some other bootstrap for debug purposes. Once the script starts moving, the output is all gdb. Is there any way that I can configure emacs so that it will use gdb's output and allow for a sort of graphical debugger, comparable to that of eclipse or ms visual studio?

  • Dynamic binary from file

    - by Aurel300
This is a little bit of weird problem here. Say I have a C++ code, running on a specific platform. The only purpose of this code is to run files containing binary, NATIVE to that platform. Now - my question is - HOW would I get the data from these files (could even be by bits, like 1024 bits a cycle) to the memory of machine running my code so that this data would be in the execution part? In other words, can I get the data to somewhere where I can point the instruction pointer? If yes, how? I don't mind if I have to use assembler for this - just so it would work.

  • What is good practice for writing web applications that control daemons (and their config files)

    - by Jones R
Can someone suggest some basic advice on dealing with web applications that interact with configuration files like httpd.conf, bind zone files, etc. I understand that it's bad practice, in fact very dangerous to allow arbitrary execution of code without fully validating it and so on. But say you are tasked to write a small app that allows one to add vhosts to an apache configuration. Do you have your code execute with full privileges, do you write future variables into a database and have a cron job (with full privileges) execute a script that pulls the vars from the database and throws them into a template config file, etc. Some thoughts & contributions on this issue would be appreciated. tl;dr - how can you securely write a web app to update/create entries in a config file like apache's httpd.conf, etc.

  • Profiling Java running by JNI calls

    - by Guy
Hi, I have a C++ code that upon execution: Loads JVM (I have full control on how to load the JVM), and call Java methods (from loaded classes) using C JNI code. The Java code has no Main() and it is actually not a standard Java application. it is mainly a static code that compiled and compacted into Jar file, the code is being called by the C++ module. Is it possible to profile this Java code being executed by YourKit (have license for it)? If so I'll be glad to know how. Thanks, Guy

  • Why use constants in programming?

    - by Adam N
I've just been going back over a bit of C studying using Ivor Horton's Beginning C book. I got to the bit about declaring constants which seems to get mixed up with variables in the same sentence. Just to clarify, what is the difference in specifying constants and variables in C, and really, when do you need to use a constant instead of a variable? I know folks say to use a constant when the information doesn't change during program execution but I can't really think of a time when a variable couldn't be used instead. Thanks
