  • How to convert text to decimal in openoffice calc?

    I have a column which contains: € 53,28 € 1.336,0 € 69,90 € 296,50 € 899,00 € 149,90 € 697,40 and so on. I want to sum the column up, but for openoffice it is text and not a decimal. What I did: =SUBSTITUTE(F7,".","") to get rid of the the dot |€ 1336,0| =SUBSTITUTE(G7,"€","") to get rid of the euro symbol | 1336,0| =RIGHT(H7, LEN(H7)-1) to get rid of the blank |1336,0| =SUBSTITUTE(I7,",",".") to change the comma to dots |1336.0| and after that I copy the whole column and paste it as "unformatted text" only after these steps I get a number with which openoffice can work. Isn't there an easier way???

    So, I'm looking for a software native to gnome that provides automatic text replacement. Something similar to autohotkey would be great, though I really don't care about all that extra autohotkey functionality. I'm just looking for text replacement that works seamlessly while I'm typing wherever I'm typing. I've heard that autohotkey runs on wine, but I'd really rather install something native to unix.   • Why is execution of batch files different between drag & drop and from command line?

    Ok, so I've been trying to figure this out for hours with no progress. I have created a batch file to get details of a VHD. Everything runs fine and produces the expected results when run from the command line in a command prompt. However, when I use drag and drop from file explorer (dragging a vhd file and dropping onto the batch file) the batch file runs without errors but the output (VHD.INFO) is empty. I'm stumped. Edited to only include the behaviour: @echo off cls setlocal enabledelayedexpansion set "_PATH.THIS=%~dp0" echo HELP | diskpart > %_PATH.THIS%OUTPUT.TMP TYPE %_PATH.THIS%OUTPUT.TMP PAUSE To demonstrate the different behaviour, please run the batch file from the command line once (works) and also run the batch file by double clicking in file explorer (failure in all piping commands).

  • What is a good "free-form" ("type anywhere" or canvas-like) text editor? [on hold]

    My 5-1/2 y.o. son is starting to use a computer and one of the things he likes to do is to type stuff into an editor. He has used TuxPaint before and is familiar with the idea of a "canvas" for painting stuff (where painting anything anywhere on the canvas is fair game). When he opened the text editor (this was gedit on Qimo Linux), he attempted to do the same thing -- he pointed the text cursor to an arbitrary location within the editor window and expected to be able to type there (like a "text canvas", if you will). I had to explain to him that he would have to press Enter a few times to create new lines, as well as press Space a few times to create columns before he could do that. This is sub-optimal. My question: are there any free-form, canvas-like text editors that I can have him use? Almost like hex editors of yore. I am not interested in getting him to create "text areas" in a paint program.

    In sublime text if I perform a find for an occurrence of a particular word not only is this occurrence found but it also selected and has the cursor at the end of each occurrence so that pushing the right arrow key the cursor will move the cursor to the beginning of each occurrence simultaneously so that I can perform whatever operation I wish on all the selections. Does notepad++ have something similar to this feature? I know that I can multi-line select by Ctrl+ mouse click, but I just wanting to know of an automated so to speak way of doing this in notepad++

  • What's a good way to move large amounts of files from one place to another, using the file path?

    I'm going to move my Winamp library from its current location (in various folders inside My Documents) to My Music, but I can't just drag and drop them, as there's thousands of files within My Documents that I don't want moved. I can get the path of every single music file from Winamp, but I don't know any way to move them all. I'd like some way to maintain their current folder arrangement, and not just dump all the files in a single folder, unorganised.

  • How do I get SSIS Data Flow to put '0.00' in a flat file?

    I have an SSIS package with a Data Flow that takes an ADO.NET data source (just a small table), executes a select * query, and outputs the query results to a flat file (I've also tried just pulling the whole table and not using a SQL select). The problem is that the data source pulls a column that is a Money datatype, and if the value is not zero, it comes into the text flat file just fine (like '123.45'), but when the value is zero, it shows up in the destination flat file as '.00'. I need to know how to get the leading zero back into the flat file. I've tried various datatypes for the output (in the Flat File Connection Manager), including currency and string, but this seems to have no effect. I've tried a case statement in my select, like this: CASE WHEN columnValue = 0 THEN '0.00' ELSE columnValue END (still results in '.00') I've tried variations on that like this: CASE WHEN columnValue = 0 THEN convert(decimal(12,2), '0.00') ELSE convert(decimal(12,2), columnValue) END (Still results in '.00') and: CASE WHEN columnValue = 0 THEN convert(money, '0.00') ELSE convert(money, columnValue) END (results in '.0000000000000000000') This silly little issue is killin' me. Can anybody tell me how to get a zero Money datatype database value into a flat file as '0.00'?

    I would like to read a DICOM file in C#. I don't want to do anything fancy, I just for now would like to know how to read in the elements, but first I would actually like to know how to read the header to see if is a valid DICOM file. It consists of Binary Data Elements. The first 128 bytes are unused (set to zero), followed by the string 'DICM'. This is followed by header information, which is organized into groups. A sample DICOM header First 128 bytes: unused DICOM format. Followed by the characters 'D','I','C','M' Followed by extra header information such as: 0002,0000, File Meta Elements Groups Len: 132 0002,0001, File Meta Info Version: 256 0002,0010, Transfer Syntax UID: 1.2.840.10008.1.2.1. 0008,0000, Identifying Group Length: 152 0008,0060, Modality: MR 0008,0070, Manufacturer: MRIcro In the above example, the header is organized into groups. The group 0002 hex is the file meta information group which contains 3 elements: one defines the group length, one stores the file version and the their stores the transfer syntax. Questions How to I read the header file and verify if it is a DICOM file by checking for the 'D','I','C','M' characters after the 128 byte preamble? How do I continue to parse the file reading the other parts of the data?

This is on Windows XP on an NTFS partition. The user has permissions to create and write to the directory.     Hi, I m very new to ocaml and i m facing the problem below, In a.ml a record type t is defined and is also defined transparently in a.mli, i.e. in d interface so that the type definition is available to all other files. a.ml also has a function, func, which returns a list of t. Now in another file, b.ml i m calling func, now obviously ocaml compiler wud nt be able to infer d type of objects stored in d list, for compiler its just a list. so in b.ml, i hav something like dis, let tlist = A.func in let vart = List.hd tlist in printf "%s\n" vart.name (name is a field in record t) Now here i get a compiler error sayin "Unbound record field label name" which makes sense as compiler can't infer d type of vart. my first question: how do I explicitly provide d type of vart as t here? i tried doing "let vart:A.t = " but got the same error. I also tried creating another function to fetch the first element of d list and mentioning return type as A.t, but then i got the "Unbound value A.t". I did this: let firstt = function [] - 0 | x :: _ - A.t x ;; The problem is compiler is unable to recognize A.t (a type) in b.ml but is able to recognize function A.func. If I remove A.t from the b.ml, i don'get any compiler errors. Please help, its urgent work. Thanks in advance! ~Tarun

    I have two nib files Main.nib and Preferernces.nib I have a class CalendarView.m that inherits from NSView .It has a method for drawing calendar - (void)drawCalendar; In Main.nib window I have NSWindow(My Main window) which has an NSView item on it for displaying calendar.Main window has an NSPopUp button that shows a menu when application runs. Menu has a 'Preferences' menu item which on clicking show a preferences panel(NSPanel) that panel is in Preferences.nib file.Panel has a colorwell item .When application is executed clcking on colorwell show a color panel to choose color .But I am unable to apply that color to my calendar. I have another class PreferencesWindowController.m that shows preferences panel . It has a method changeColor that takes selected color from colors panel and make changes to user defaults . I have IBOutlet CalendarView *calView as a member in PreferencesWindowController.h class. In changeColor mehod I am writing - calView = [[CalendarView alloc] init]; [calView drawCalendar]; On debugging call goes to drawCalendar method of CalendarView but skips some part of it and goes to end of function without redrawing. On restarting the application color is applied but I want it to happen while application is executing, so that there is no need to rerun the application to view changes.
