  I have got IIS7 running on my Windows 2008 Server It works perfectly working for the sites and the folder that I hosted before. Now I am trying to host a folder which contains two subfolder(the subfolders contain some images). I have correctly set the IIS_IUSRS permissions on the site folder. • Error Running MVC2 application in IIS on .NET 4.0

  I recently installed the RTM version of 4.0. I now receive an error when running MVC2 websites in a .net 4 app pool. The error is "User is not available in this context." All works fine on .net 2.0 app pools or if I run the app within the VS10 web server. The error only occurs in IIS on .net 4.0. To verify that it was not something specific to my app, I created a new MVC test app from the VS template and even that app encounters this error. My next step is to reinstall .net 4.0. Has anyone else seen this error?

The data conversion for column "cs(User-Agent)" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page.". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) I tried changing the column width of user agent to varchar(8000) and nvarchar(4000) no luck. pls help -Vivek

How should each be configured? Some context: I have a simple web site project that contains a single .svc web service, and I want it to use Basic authentication over SSL.   Hi, I've set up a Mercurial server on a Windows 2003 / IIS 6 machine and when I try to pull the repository I get the following sequence requesting all changes adding changesets adding manifests adding file changes transaction abort! rollback completed abort: premature EOF reading chunk (got 91303 bytes, expected 1542634) I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, but with no success. I followed the steps of Jeremy Skinners guide on doing it for IIS7, but on an IIS6 server. I found a post where the author was experiencing the same issue, but was unable to find a solution. So far it looks like the solution is to migrate to Apache or upgrade to Windows 2008/II7 .. but if someone knows how to solve this, please let me know

  Hi, I got a problem migrating from VS.Net 2008 / MVC 1 to VS.NET 2010 (+C# 4.0) / MVC 2 The web.config has been updated, the site runs well in Cassini, but my problem now is deploying on IIS 6. I updated the web site to run using ASP.Net 4, but whatever URL I try, I always have a 404 error. It's as if the routing was not taken into account (yes, the wildcard mapping has been done). I do not understand this mess and could not google anything interesting... Thanks for your suggestions ! O.

  Hi, currently I have a site sits on one IIS7 server. When we deploy a new version of the site, we bring the site down and display an offline page. What I really want is have two same exact copies of the site sits in one IIS 7 server and load balance users among both servers. when we deploy a new version of the site, we will bring site1 down (users in site1 automatically routes to site2 on next postback), when site1 deployment is complete, bring site2 down (users in site2 being routes to site1 on next postback). is this even possible?

  i went to the root dir of my website in iis 6. right clicked properties and went the documents tab. i wanted to add a document extension to the list. when i clicked apply i received an inheritance override (UNCPassword and DefaultDoc) pop up showing many dnn files. i clicked cancel in both pop ups and then okay to apply the new document extension. now all my pages only pull up the home page information in dotnetnuke. the url changes in the address bar but only home page information is displayed. what could i have done to break dotnetnuke? are there some inheritance parameters needed? if so can i revert? thanks in advance.

  We recently migrated from VS 2008 to VS 2010. The migration went fine, except for our web project. Before, in VS 2008, the site showed up as http://localhost/Website. Now, it appears as C:...\Website. It appears that when we did the migration, VS started to treat it as a file system website. I've tried removing the existing site and re-adding it as an existing website, but it still displays it as C:...\Website. Is there any way to convert it back to show it as a http://localhost/website, and run through IIS, as opposed to the default ASP.NET Development Server?

  Hello All, I am using IIS 7 on Server 2008. I just tried migrating my app from an older platform - everything works fine, except the email feature. The outbound firewall ruleset allows SMTP traffic. Any idea what I did wrong?

  I need to create rules for web.config that will rewrite all requests for files with extension .html to .asp and redirect all .asp requests to .html Example: file_xyz.asp rewrites to file_xyz.html directory1/file_xyz.asp rewrites to directory1/file_xyz.html and file_xyz.html redirects to file_xyz.asp directory1/file_xyz.html redirects to directory1/file_xyz.asp What is the syntax for the rule Is this too broad a rule? If I should need for what ever reason to have a physical file such as file_abc.html how do I exclude it from the redirect rule? I am thinking I should just use ISAPI_Rewrite http://www.isapirewrite.com/ there seems to be a ton of resources out there for rewriting with htaccess and very little online help for using IIS 7 URL rewrite. • Accessing localhost via IIS 6.1 on Windows 7 very slow

  (I've checked here already for similiar questions, and haven't found one that's exactly the same - hence I'm posting a new question) I'm currently running an ASP.NET application on IIS 7.0 on Windows 7. When I access this application on Internet Explorer (either 6, 7 or 8) it is incredible slow and often fails to load at all. There are messages at the bottom saying: Waiting for http://localhost/....... or sometimes waiting for about:blank (I've read that this can be a virus, but I've run all the usual checks and it's not). constantly, but it returns with the usual: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" I've also tried this by using 127.0.0.1 and the machine name, with the same results. I've tried the same application on the latest Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera and they all work fine. I've also installed the same application on a Windows Server 2003 machine, and it all works fine via Internet Explorer. Soes anyone have any ideas why this doesn't work with Internet Explorer and yet does with other browsers?

  Running a webserver 2003 SP2 (x86) with IIS 6 and asp.net 2. The box is running mostly dynamic asp pages connecting to a sql 2008 server. At any given time there is over 1 gig of memory available out of the 2 gig in the box. It seems like there would be a way for it to make better use of the free memory. It is using a default machine.config file and default http.sys. I would like to maximize incoming internet connections and database connections. Is there something I can do to make better use of the available memory?

• Determine what account IIS 7 is using to access folders (and other resources)

  Often, out of sheer desperation I will end up enabling "Everyone" access on a folder that a web app is accessing (perhaps for file creation, reading, etc) because I can't figure which user account to enable access on. Obviously, this is a very bad thing to do. Is there a way to determine what account IIS is using at that exact moment to access folders (and perhaps other resources like SQL Server, etc)? Are there logs I can look at that will tell me? Or perhaps some other way? I usually use Windows Auth without impersonation. Not sure if that information is relevant.

  Hi, We have a Web asp.net application running in the framework 2.0 and hosted in an IIS 6 server, and the OS is windows server 2003. The web application is suing a client certificate to be authenticated by a web service. We have impersonalized the application pool with de user “Network Service”. The problem is when we have to access to the private key of the certificate that is stored in the machine key/my storage. The user Network Service cannot access the key. We have given privileges to the Network Service user using the winhttpcertcfg.exe tool, however the result is the same. When we impersonalize the application pool with the local administrator the result is successfully. Therefore we think that the problem is the privileges of the user.   I'm running a web application under IIS that we draw graphs with that are sent to the clients. We were previously running under iis6, while migrating to 2008 ( iis7 ) we have encountered some very weird issues with the graphing. I stumbled across the msdn docs for GDI+ stating that "GDI+ functions and classes are not supported for use within a Windows service." I suspect that my issues are probably related to further isolation of services http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533798%28VS.85%29.aspx My question is how the heck are we supposed to draw graphics? Raw GDI? OpenGL - but doesn't that still require a DC?

• How to increase thread-pool threads on IIS 7.0

  Environment: Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, IIS 7.0, ASP.NET 2.0 (CLR), .NET 4.0 I have an ASP.NET application with no page and no session(HttpHandler). It a streaming server. I use two threads for processing each request so if there are 100 connected clients, then 200 threads are used. This is a dedicated server and there's no more application on the server. The problem is after 200 clients are connected (under stress testing) application refuses new clients, but if I increase the worker threads of application pool (create a web garden) then I can have 200 new happy clients per w3wp process. I feel .NET thread pool limit reaches at that point and need to increase it. Thanks

• Invalid or expired security context token in WCF web service

  All, I have a WCF web service (let's called service "B") hosted under IIS using a service account (VM, Windows 2003 SP2). The service exposes an endpoint that use WSHttpBinding with the default values except for maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferPoolSize, maxBufferSize and some of the time outs that have been increased. The web service has been load tested using Visual Studio Load Test framework with around 800 concurrent users and successfully passed all tests with no exceptions being thrown. The proxy in the unit test has been created from configuration. There is a sharepoint application that use the Office Sharepoint Server Search service to call web services "A" and "B". The application will get data from service "A" to create a request that will be sent to service "B". The response coming from service "B" is indexed for search. The proxy is created programmatically using the ChannelFactory. When service "A" takes less than 10 minutes, the calls to service "B" are successfull. But when service "A" takes more time (~20 minutes) the calls to service "B" throw the following exception: Exception Message: An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail Inner Exception Message: The message could not be processed. This is most likely because the action 'namespace/OperationName' is incorrect or because the message contains an invalid or expired security context token or because there is a mismatch between bindings. The security context token would be invalid if the service aborted the channel due to inactivity. To prevent the service from aborting idle sessions prematurely increase the Receive timeout on the service endpoint's binding. The binding settings are the same, the time in both client server and web service server are synchronize with the Windows Time service, same time zone. When i look at the server where web service "B" is hosted i can see the following security errors being logged: Source: Security Category: Logon/Logoff Event ID: 537 User NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Logon Failure: Reason: An error occurred during logon Logon Type: 3 Logon Process: Kerberos Authentication Package: Kerberos Status code: 0xC000006D Substatus code: 0xC0000133 After reading some of the blogs online, the Status code means STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE and the substatus code means STATUS_TIME_DIFFERENCE_AT_DC. but i already checked both server and client clocks and they are syncronized. I also noticed that the security token seems to be cached somewhere in the client server because they have another process that calls the web service "B" using the same service account and successfully gets data the first time is called. Then they start the proccess to update the office sharepoint server search service indexes and it fails. Then if they called the first proccess again it will fail too. Has anyone experienced this type of problems or have any ideas? Regards, --Damian

  I'm trying to deploy a WCF service to my server, hosted in IIS. Naturally it works on my machine :) But when I deploy it, I get the following error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection. Googling on this, I find that I have to put a serviceHostingEnvironment element into the web.config file: <serviceHostingEnvironment> <baseAddressPrefixFilters> <add prefix="http://mywebsiteurl"/> </baseAddressPrefixFilters> </serviceHostingEnvironment> But once I have done this, I get the following: Could not find a base address that matches scheme http for the endpoint with binding BasicHttpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [https]. It seems it doesn't know what the base address is, but how do I specify it?
