  • Returning a ReadOnlyCollection from a method with an IList return type

    - by devoured elysium
Here I have the following bit of code: private IList<IState> _states = new List<IState>(); private ReadOnlyCollection<IState> _statesViewer; public IList<IState> States { get { return _statesViewer; } } Generally it is preferable to return interfaces than the concrete classes themselves, but in this case, shouldn't I set as the return type of the States property a ReadOnlyCollection? Any user of my library will think it is possible to anything you can do with an IList if I set it as so, and that means adding elements. That is not true and I'm definitely breaking the contract exposing it as an IList. Am I right with this view or there is something else I am missing here?

  • 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method addEventListener

    - by Chris
I'm going through some AS3 training, but I'm getting a weird error... I'm trying to add an event listener to the end of a motion tween in AS. I've created a tween, highlighted the frames, right clicked and copied the tween as AS and pasted it into the movie clip (I think there's a better way to do this, but I'm not sure what it is...) When I try to add the listener to the end of that code, I get the error. Here's my code. import fl.motion.AnimatorFactory; import fl.motion.MotionBase; import fl.motion.Motion; import flash.filters.*; import flash.geom.Point; import fl.motion.MotionEvent; import fl.events.*; var __motion_Enemy_3:MotionBase; if(__motion_Enemy_3 == null) { __motion_Enemy_3 = new Motion(); __motion_Enemy_3.duration = 30; // Call overrideTargetTransform to prevent the scale, skew, // or rotation values from being made relative to the target // object's original transform. // __motion_Enemy_3.overrideTargetTransform(); // The following calls to addPropertyArray assign data values // for each tweened property. There is one value in the Array // for every frame in the tween, or fewer if the last value // remains the same for the rest of the frames. __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("x", [0]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("y", [0]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("scaleX", [1.000000,1.048712,1.097424,1.146136,1.194847,1.243559,1.292271,1.340983,1.389695,1.438407,1.487118,1.535830,1.584542,1.633254,1.681966,1.730678,1.779389,1.828101,1.876813,1.925525,1.974237,2.022949,2.071661,2.120372,2.169084,2.217796,2.266508,2.315220,2.363932,2.412643]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("scaleY", [1.000000,1.048712,1.097424,1.146136,1.194847,1.243559,1.292271,1.340983,1.389695,1.438407,1.487118,1.535830,1.584542,1.633254,1.681966,1.730678,1.779389,1.828101,1.876813,1.925525,1.974237,2.022949,2.071661,2.120372,2.169084,2.217796,2.266508,2.315220,2.363932,2.412643]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("skewX", [0]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("skewY", [0]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("rotationConcat", [0]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("blendMode", ["normal"]); __motion_Enemy_3.addPropertyArray("cacheAsBitmap", [false]); __motion_Enemy_3.addEventListener(MotionEvent.MOTION_END, hurtPlayer); // Create an AnimatorFactory instance, which will manage // targets for its corresponding Motion. var __animFactory_Enemy_3:AnimatorFactory = new AnimatorFactory(__motion_Enemy_3); __animFactory_Enemy_3.transformationPoint = new Point(0.499558, 0.500000); // Call the addTarget function on the AnimatorFactory // instance to target a DisplayObject with this Motion. // The second parameter is the number of times the animation // will play - the default value of 0 means it will loop. // __animFactory_Enemy_3.addTarget(<instance name goes here>, 0); } function hurtPlayer(event:MotionEvent):void { this.parent.removeChild(this); } I've tried a few places for it, both with the animFactory_Enemy_3 variable and the motion_Enemy_3 variable - getting the same error both times.

  • Watir changes highline's "ask" method

    - by grundic
Hello! I've encoutered some strange functionality, when using Watir and Highline together. Here is simple example: require 'highline/import' comp = ask("Company? ") { |q| q.default = "MySuperCompany" } puts comp require 'watir' comp = ask("Company? ") { |q| q.default = "MySuperCompany" } puts comp Here is an output: Company? |MySuperCompany| MySuperCompany [Company? ] => Company? Maybe it's a bug? I've also found in documentation for highline, that If @question is set before ask() is called, parameters are ignored and that object (must be a HighLine::Question) is used to drive the process instead. Sorry, I'm not a ruby guru :-(

  • "didChangeSection:" NSfetchedResultsController delegate method not being called

    - by robenk
I have a standard split view controller, with a detail view and a table view. Pressing a button in the detail view can cause the an object to change its placement in the table view's ordering. This works fine, as long as the resulting ordering change doesn't result in a section being added or removed. I.e. an object can change it's ordering in a section or switch from one section to another. Those ordering changes work correctly without problems. But, if the object tries to move to a section that doesn't exist yet, or is the last object to leave a section (therefore requiring the section its leaving to be removed), then the application crashes. NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate has methods to handle sections being added and removed that should be called in those cases. But those delegate methods aren't being called for some reason. The code in question, is boilerplate: - (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { NSLog(@"willChangeContent"); [self.tableView beginUpdates]; } - (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeSection:(id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo>)sectionInfo atIndex:(NSUInteger)sectionIndex forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type { NSLog(@"didChangeSection"); switch(type) { case NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert: [self.tableView insertSections:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeDelete: [self.tableView deleteSections:[NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndex:sectionIndex] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; } } - (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeObject:(id)anObject atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type newIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)newIndexPath { NSLog(@"didChangeObject"); UITableView *tableView = self.tableView; switch(type) { case NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert: [tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:newIndexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeDelete: [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeUpdate: [self configureCell:[tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath] atIndexPath:indexPath]; break; case NSFetchedResultsChangeMove: [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:newIndexPath]withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; break; } } - (void)controllerDidChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller { NSLog(@"didChangeContent"); [self.tableView endUpdates]; [detailViewController.reminderView update]; } Starting the application, and then causing the last object to leave a section results in the following output: 2011-01-08 23:40:18.910 Reminders[54647:207] willChangeContent 2011-01-08 23:40:18.912 Reminders[54647:207] didChangeObject 2011-01-08 23:40:18.914 Reminders[54647:207] didChangeContent 2011-01-08 23:40:18.915 Reminders[54647:207] *** Assertion failure in -[UITableView _endCellAnimationsWithContext:], /SourceCache/UIKit_Sim/UIKit-1145.66/UITableView.m:825 2011-01-08 23:40:18.917 Reminders[54647:207] Serious application error. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: Invalid update: invalid number of sections. The number of sections contained in the table view after the update (5) must be equal to the number of sections contained in the table view before the update (6), plus or minus the number of sections inserted or deleted (0 inserted, 0 deleted). with userInfo (null) As you can see, "willChangeContent", "didChangeObject" (moving the object in question), and "didChangeContent" were all called properly. Based on the Apple's NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate documentation "didChangeSection" should have been called before "didChangeObject", which would have prevented the exception causing the crash. So I guess the question is how do I assure that didChangeSection gets called? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Reach the end of the tableview without using 'numberOfRowsInSection' delegate method iphone sdk

Hi all, I want to add a view after the last cell of tableview. I need to define the frame for it. If I want to add something before the first cell, then I can set the frame as refreshHeaderView = [[EGORefreshTableHeaderView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f - self.view.bounds.size.height,320.0f, self.view.bounds.size.height)]; But how to find the y coordinate of the frame of view to be set after the last cell. Thanx in advance.

  • Dynamically Run IQueryable Method

    - by Micah
Hi! I'm trying to run the Count() function of a Linq statement in an overriden Gridview function. Basically, I want to be able to assign a linq query to a gridview, and on the OnDataBound(e) event in my new extended gridview have it retrieve the count, using the IQueryable. This is where I'm at so far: protected override void OnDataBound(EventArgs e) { IEnumerable _data = null; if (this.DataSource is IQueryable) { _data = (IQueryable)this.DataSource; } System.Type dataSourceType = _data.GetType(); System.Type dataItemType = typeof(object); if (dataSourceType.HasElementType) { dataItemType = dataSourceType.GetElementType(); } else if (dataSourceType.IsGenericType) { dataItemType = dataSourceType.GetGenericArguments()[0]; } else if (_data is IEnumerable) { IEnumerator dataEnumerator = _data.GetEnumerator(); if (dataEnumerator.MoveNext() && dataEnumerator.Current != null) { dataItemType = dataEnumerator.Current.GetType(); } } Object o = Activator.CreateInstance(dataItemType); object[] objArray = new object[] { o }; RowCount = (int)dataSourceType.GetMethod("Count").Invoke(_data, objArray); Any ideas? I'm really new with working with IQueryables and Linq so I may be way off. How can I get my _data to allow me to run the Count function?

  • define a closure as method from class

    - by user272839
Hi, i'm trying to play with php5.3 and closure. I see here (Listing 7. Closure inside an object : http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-php-5.3new2/index.html) that it's possible to use $this in the callback function, but it's not. So I try to give $this as use variable : $self = $this; $foo = function() use($self) { //do something with $self } So to use the same example : class Dog { private $_name; protected $_color; public function __construct($name, $color) { $this->_name = $name; $this->_color = $color; } public function greet($greeting) { $self = $this; return function() use ($greeting, $self) { echo "$greeting, I am a {$self->_color} dog named {$self->_name}."; }; } } $dog = new Dog("Rover","red"); $dog->greet("Hello"); Output: Hello, I am a red dog named Rover. First of all this example does not print the string but return the function, but that's not my problem. Secondly I can't access to private or protected, because the callback function is a global function and not in the context from the Dog object. Tha't my problem. It's the same as : function greet($greeting, $object) { echo "$greeting, I am a {$self->_color} dog named {$self->_name}."; } And I want : public function greet($greeting) { echo "$greeting, I am a {$self->_color} dog named {$self->_name}."; } Which is from Dog and not global. I hope that I am clear ...

  • NSArray containObjects method

    - by Anthony Chan
Hi, I have a simple question regarding xcode coding but don't know why things are not performing as I think. I have an array of objects (custom objects). I just want to check if this one is within the array. I used the following code: NSArray *collection = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:A, B, C, nil]; //custom "Item" objects Item *tempItem = [[Fruit alloc] initWithLength:1 width:2 height:3]; //3 instance variables in "Item" objects if([collection containsObject:tempItem]) { NSLog(@"collection contains this item"); } I suppose the above checking will give me a positive result but it's not. Further, I checked whether the objects created are the same. NSLog(@"L:%i W:%i H:%i", itemToCheck.length, itemToCheck.width, itemToCheck.height); for (int i = 0, i < [collection count], i++) { Item *itemInArray = [collection objectAtIndex:i]; NSLog(@"collection contains L:%i W:%i H:%i", itemInArray.length, itemInArray.width, itemInArrayheight); } In the console, this is what I got: L:1 W:2 H:3 collection contains L:0 W:0 H:0 collection contains L:1 W:2 H:3 collection contains L:6 W:8 H:2 Obviously the tempItem is inside the collection array but nothing shows up when I use containsObject: to check it. Could anyone give me some direction which part I am wrong? Thanks a lot!

Here is my line of code that produces an error: ctx.Tanks.DeleteObject(Tank); I tried to reference another object from another edmx file that my friend has created and then everything is fine, DeleteObject exists. I don't think I miss any references in my project. And project itself contains edmx file and I used DBContext to create POCOs. Any ideas?

  • Calling member method on unmanaged C++ pointer from C# (I think)

    - by Jacob G
I apologize in advance if this is a trivial question... I'm pretty C++ / unmanaged dumb. Here's a simplified analog to my setup: --In myUnmanagedObject.h in DLL: class myUnmanagedObject { public: virtual void myMethod(){} } --In MyControl.h in Assembly #1: #pragma make_public(myUnmanagedObject) [event_source(managed)] public ref class MyControl : public System::Windows::Forms::UserControl { public: myUnmanagedObject* GetMyUnmanagedObject(); } --in C# in Assembly #2: unsafe { MyControl temp = new MyControl(); myUnmanagedObject* obj = temp.GetMyUnmanagedObject(); obj-myMethod(); } I get a compile error saying that myUnmanagedObject does not contain a definition for myMethod. Assembly #2 references Assembly #1. Assembly #1 references DLL. If I compile the DLL with /clr and reference it directly from Assembly #2, it makes no difference. How, from C#, do I execute myMethod ?

UPDATE - FIXED: per @Falmarri advice, i managed to resolve this issue. first of all, i'm no longer calling Login login = new Login(); to create a new login object. bad. bad. bad. no cookie. instead, when preparing to call .execute(), this tutorial suggests passing the applicationContext to the class the executes the AsyncTask, for my purposes, as shown below: CallWebServiceTask task = new CallWebServiceTask(); // pass the login object to the task task.applicationContext = login; // execute the task in the background, passing the required params task.execute(login); now, in onPostExecute(), i can get to my Login objects methods like so: ((Login) applicationContext).pushCreateNewOrChooseExistingFormActivity(); ((Login) applicationContext).showLoginFailedAlert(result.get("httpResponseCode").toString()); ... hope this helps someone else out there! especially iOS developers transistioning over to Android...

  • .NET security: how to check if a method is allowed to execute under current user's perrmissions

The [Authorized] attribute is specific to ASP.NET MVC, and this is only an example. I would prefer a universal solution for this problem which works for any .NET class. Please share some ideas of what could be done in this case.

  • Best method for Binding ComboBox

    - by LnDCobra
I am going to be developing a large project which will include a large number of ComboBoxes. Most of these combo boxes will be bound to a database field which is a related to another daataset/table. For instance. I have the following 2 tables: Company {CompanyID, CompanyName, MainContact} Contacts {ContactID, ContactName} And when the user clicks to edit a company, A TextBox will be there to edit a company name, but also a ComboBox will be there. The way I am currently doing it is binding the ComboBox to the Contacts dataset, and manually updating the Company MainContact field in code behind. Is there anyway for me to bind the selected item to the Company MainContact field in XAML and the items to the ContactName and eliminate the code behind? Reason for this is when you start making 100's combo boxes all over the application it gets long winded each time creating code behind to do the update.

  • Method of documentation for SQL Stored Procedures

    - by Chapso
I work in a location where a single person is responsible for creating and maintaining all stored procedures for SQL servers, and is the conduit between software developers and the database. There are a lot of stored procedures in place, and with a database diagram it is simple enough 90% of the time to figure out what the stored procedure needs for arguments/returns as output. For the other 10% of the time, however, it would be helpful to have a reference. Since the DBA is a busy guy (aren't we all), it would be good to have some program which documents the stored procedures to a file so that the developers can see it without being able to access the SPs themselves. The question is, does anyone know of a good program to accomplish this? Basically what we need is something that gives the name of the SP, the argument list and the output, both with datatypes and a nullable flag.
