• USB AutoRun Dialog: Open a webpage option not shown in dialog

  I am attempting to make our webpage open when someone plugs in our USB device. My Problem: When we plug in the USB device the autorun dialog appears but there is never an option to open/run the webpage we have specified. See below pic of the dialog we see. Isn't there meant to be an option that says something like "Open in Internet Explorer" or etc.? What we are hoping to achieve is to have another option below 'Use this drive for backup' that says something like 'Open in Web Browser' or something that will ultimately open our webpage when the users decides to. • Problem with missing JSON functions on PHP 5.2.6 / Plesk 8.4

  I have a vserver running openSuse 10.3, Apache 2 and Plesk 8.4. I can update/upgrade neither, as it is apparently not recommended to upgrade openSuse 10.3 (and an update to the EOL 10.4 does not seem to make much sense) and Plesk fails to update no matter what version I try (even fails to upgrade to 8.4.1). Still I can live with that somehow, primarily because I don’t have the time to do a fresh remote install on the vserver. What really is a problem is, that though the installed PHP is 5.2.6 it has no zip library and no json functions. The first is probably because PHP was not compiled with --enable-zip. The second is a big mystery though. As I understand it, it always comes with PHP unless its compiled with the --disable-json configure option. This is however not the case. And the json extension module is just not there. I even tried to enable it with extension=json.so with no luck either. the configure options of my PHP are (as shipped with Plesk 8.4) '../configure' '--prefix=/usr' '--datadir=/usr/share/php5' '--mandir=/usr/share/man' '--bindir=/usr/bin' '--with-libdir=lib' '--includedir=/usr/include' '--sysconfdir=/etc/php5/apache2' '--with-config-file-path=/etc/php5/apache2' '--with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/php5/conf.d' '--enable-libxml' '--enable-session' '--with-mm' '--with-pcre-regex=/usr' '--enable-xml' '--enable-simplexml' '--enable-spl' '--enable-filter' '--disable-debug' '--enable-inline-optimization' '--disable-rpath' '--disable-static' '--enable-shared' '--program-suffix=5' '--with-pic' '--with-gnu-ld' '--with-system-tzdata=/usr/share/zoneinfo' '--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs2' '--disable-all' '--disable-cli' As I understand it, PECL is not an option with 5.2.6. Or am I mistaken? Even if I was not, the openSuse repository only goes as far as PHP 5.2.4. The openSuse install even came without zypper, which I had to manually install. So is there a way to get ziplib and json running in PHP 5.2.6 without having to recompile the binary?

• Windows 8 isn't detecting PS3 eye

  I have the PS3 Eye web cam installed with drivers from Code Laboratories, which comes with a test program. When I open the test program it shows a clear picture from the webcam. Every other program does not detect a webcam. The cam shows in my device manager and as installed correctly. My question is, is there a flag or something like that I can set that will show Windows 8 that this device is in fact a camera and is working. • Is it safe to use an IDE to SATA power adapter for an extended period of time?

  I just bought a computer from HP and they failed to include SATA power connectors with the power supply other then the one HD and DVD drive. Meanwhile I have two IDE to SATA power adapters that came with my "USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE cable" http://www.amazon.com/USB-2-0-SATA-Cable-Adapter/dp/B001OORN06 3rd pic on the left. I was wondering if I would just open up my computer and use it to plug it my SATA drives to the IDE power sources and mount it to the motherboard, would it damage my drives in the long run or have any other significant effects. A friend told me he knows people who have had their HD burn out because of this

• Outlook 2003 attachment section disappearing

  When I open a received mail my attachments "disappear". If I restart the application my attachments are there once again. After opening 4 - 6 email the problem is back there and I have to open / close the app again. I use windows 7 32bit professional and sp3 outlook 2003. In the 1st pic you can see the problem... In the 2nd one I've just quit outlook and opened it again (same email). Any hints?

• Creating foreign words' learning site with memory technique (Web 2.0)? Will it work?

  I would like to earn a little money for realizing a good, simple project. My idea is to build a website for learning of chosen by me language (for users knowing English) using mnemonics. Users would be encourage to enter English words with translation to another language and describing the way, how to remember a foreign language word (an association link). Example: if I choose learning Spanish for people who knows English well, it would look like that: every user would be encourage to enter a way to remember a chosen by him/her Spanish word. So he/she would enter to the dictionary (my site database) ,e.g., English word: beach - playa (Spanish word). Then he/she would describe the method to remember Spanish word, e.g., "Image that U r on the beach and U play volleyball" - we have the word play and recall playa (mnemonics). I would like to give possibility of pic hotlinks, encourage for fun or little shocking memory links which is -- in the art of memory -- good. I would choose a language to take a niche of Google Search. The big question is if I don't lose my time on it?? (Maybe I need to find prototype way to check that idea?)

• No operating system found even when grub2 was reinstalled

  I know there have been many variations on this question and have certainly tried to do my research. I don't really know what I'm doing so I would rather not take risks. I am trying to dual boot xubuntu and windows 7. I started out with xubuntu and just installed windows. Of course, the mbr got overwritten and windows didn't seem to recognize linux. So I booted to the live cd and rewrote the mbr. And of course, now I get the error "No Operating System Found" on startup. I think weblogic should also configured with ssl . If this works , what about security level ? Is the ssl really works if only Apache configured with ssl but Weblogic without it ? • Writing generic code when your target is a C compiler

  I need to write some algorithms for a PIC micro controller. AFAIK, the official tools support either assembler or a subset of C. My goal is to write the algorithms in a generic and reusable way without losing any runtime or memory performance. And if possible, I would like to do this without increasing the development time much and compromising the readability and maintainability much either. What I mean by generic and reusable is that I don't want to commit to types, array sizes, number of bits in a bit field etc. All these specifications, IMHO, point to C++ templates, but there's no compiler for it for my target. C macro metaprogramming is another option, but, again my opinion, that greatly reduces readability and increases development time. I believe what I'm looking for is a decent C++ to C translator, but I'd like to hear anything else that satisfies the above requirements. Maybe a translator from another high-level language to C that produces very efficient code, maybe something else. Please note that I have nothing against C, I just wish templates were available in it.

So here i am: i have a desktop pc with two accounts, both with Administrative rights. One is used by the entire my family, in particular by my brother. The problem is that i set some DNS and IP configurations to let be possible the VNC connection from remote. Now i would like to disable the network settings (TCP/IP and DNS) to prohibit my brother to change it preventing me to connect to it. So how can i do this?   I am developing a website where user can create their own game which can be joined by other users as well. It's a simple maths game which will shoot equations based on time or count specified. I want that moment user create a game, it will be listed in "current Games" section. Other users can check out the list and select the game to join. After game is created, creater should have a screen which should be having his name with display pic. Now gradually as others start joining the game, list should updated automatically. Once enough users are there i will start the game. The same list should be displayed to other users who join the game. Once game is over all will be displayed a summary list. I have gone through couple of threads but could not get clear idea. Do I need to use comet or other technology to create such game or simple PHP, Ajax or Jquery will suffice ? Also I want my website should be mobile compatible so i am designing it in html5. If i create this game using just Ajax then will there be any performance issue while playing through mobile. I am not much experienced so just need guidance for what should be appropriate or use for my requirement.

  Hi guys! I'm making a game in Pygame and I want to be able to target enemy unit. I made it so when I click on them a variable "targeted" becomes true, and stays true until I click somewhere else on the screen. I also want targeted units to have a small green circle around them, so I made it in GEDIT. I have made a function that draws everything on the screen (the background, the player, objects, etc) and in the part where it draws the units it checks if the variable "targeted" is true and if it is it should move that little green circle over the enemy units. here is the code that does that: screen.blit(enemy_unit.pic, enemy_unit.rect) #draw the unit if enemy_unit.targeted == True: #if the unit has been targeted then draw a circle over it target_rect.move_ip(enemy_unit.pos) #move the circle to the unit target_rect.fit(enemy_unit.rect) #there are some bigger units and some smaller ones, so we have to "scale" the circle screen.blit(target_pic, target_rect) #actually draw the circle This doesn't work, when I target the unit the circle just appears for a 1/5 of second next (not on, but just next) to the unit and then disappears. I am sure that I am keeping a good track of "enemy_unit.pos" because I tested it (I added a piece of code that would print one units position and mouse's position every time i clicked the mouse and when i was near him the numbers were same). If you could give me a hint about what I'm doing wrong. I think its in move_ip function, but I tried just move and it didn't work either (the circle didn't even show at all)!

  I am using a Dell xps l702x and I am using ubuntu 10.04 because I need to use f77 (don't ask) and I wasn't able to get it working on later versions of ubuntu. I cannot use the wifi at all. I have tried to fix it and have had limited success (changed the output from rfkill list all from Hard blocked: yes, to hard blocked: no). More specificly i want to make a http POST request to http://iqs.me that sends a file in the variable "pic". I've made a lot of tries but i don't know if i've even been close. The hardest part seems to be to get a HttpURLConnection to make a request of the type POST. The response i get looks like it makes a GET. • MP3 Decoding on Android

  Hi. We're implementing a program for Android phones that plays audio streamed from the internet. Here's approximately what we do: Download a custom encrypted format. Decrypt to get chunks of regular MP3 data. Decode MP3 data to raw PCM data in a memory buffer. Pipe the raw PCM data to an AudioTrack Our target devices so far are Droid and Nexus One. Everything works great on Nexus One, but the MP3 decode is too slow on Droid. The audio playback starts to skip if we put the Droid under load. We are not permitted to decode the MP3 data to SD card, but I know that's not our problem anyways. We didn't write our own MP3 decoder, but used MPADEC (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpadec/). It's free and was easy to integrate with our program. We compile it with the NDK. After exhaustive analysis with various profiling tools, we're convinced that it's this decoder that is falling behind. Here's the options we're thinking about: Find another MP3 decoder that we can compile with the Android NDK. This MP3 decoder would have to be either optimized to run on mobile ARM devices or maybe use integer-only math or some other optimizations to increase performance. Since the built-in Android MediaPlayer service will take URLs, we might be able to implement a tiny HTTP server in our program and serve the MediaPlayer with the decrypted MP3s. That way we can take advantage of the built-in MP3 decoder. Get access to the built-in MP3 decoder through the NDK. I don't know if this is possible. Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to speed up our MP3 decoding? -- Rob Sz

  First of all: this is not a duplicate of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1021490/delphi-and-sapi. I have a specific problem with the "SAPI in Delphi" subject. I have used the excellent Import Type-Library guide in Delphi 2009 to get a TSpVoice component in the component palette. This works great. With var SpVoice: TSpVoice; I can write SpVoice.Speak('This is an example.', 1); to get asynchronous audio output. First question According to the documentation, I would be able to write SpVoice.Speak('This is an example.', 0); to get synchronous audio output, but instead I get an EZeroDivide exception. Why's that? Second question But more importantly, I would like to be able to create the SpVoice object dynamically (I think this is called to "late-bound" the SpVoice object), partly because only a very small fraction of all sessions of my app will use it, and partly because I do not want to assume the existance of the SAPI server on the end-user's system. To this end, I tried procedure TForm1.FormClick(Sender: TObject); var SpVoice: Variant; begin SpVoice := CreateOleObject('SAPI.SpVoice'); SpVoice.Speak('this is a test', 0); end; which apparently does nothing at all! • AVAudioPlayer making noise when playing multiple sounds at the same time

  I am having an issue where AVAudioPlayer is introducing noise into playback ONLY when I play multiple sound files at the same time. If I play them each individually, they all sound perfect. But, if I play sound clip B while sound clip A is still playing, the speakers start crackling like there is noise. I have tried both m4a files AND caf files and both make the same noise, so it has to be something with how I am implementing this method or a quirk with AVAudioPlayer.
